The one with the mafia teeth, right.
Katekyo Hitman REBORN! Discussion

Will this awesome show get dubbed? It could be on Toonami if Viz picks it up or someone else…..There's not too much too be edited out, well up to episode 49 anyway.
-
It seems like Viz will pick it up. It just seems like a Viz kind of show.
-
Wait they're picking it up or is this speculation?
-
Well I hope they do.
-
Pure speculation. And I have high doubt that this could not get picked up to get dubbed. Do you think an anime about a Mafia would work in america?
-
no because it's not ninja's or people with morphing swords.
-
and its got a person being shot every episode
-
and they don't throw balls that have retarted cute looking animals pop out of them.
-
Let me rephrase myself. It could get dubbed, but I find it a slim chance. Though if some company could dub it, I would hope it would be FUNimation or Viz.
-
I'd say FUNIMATION.
-
If Viz gets it Yuri Lownenthal for Tsuna, calling it now. Not that he would fit, but they gave him to Sena from E21, and they're like, the same character.
Dave Wittenberg would make a good Gokudera imo. And Patrick Seitz for Ryohei
-
You are right, they could be good VA's if this gets dubbed. If it gets dubbed and Uncut DVD's become avalible, they are so mine. I would wonder how they would handle the Varia arc and, even though this story arc started, the future arc.
-
I'd say FUNIMATION.
The anime version just seems to kiddy for FUNimation to pick up… I don't know just doesn't seem like their kind of show.
I wonder who would be a good voice for Reborn....?

@Sandai:
Um did you forget Yamamoto's baseball bat?
I said morphing sword not bat. Does Yamamoto's sword turn into anything that resembles that of a monster or some nifty power-up or a change in weapon appearance?
-
or a change in weapon appearance?
GkJmSUhNBHY&feature=related
Now what have we learned?
-
The anime version makes me mad
-
@Sandai:
GkJmSUhNBHY&feature=related
Now what have we learned?
I didn't watch that cause it probably has nothing to do with what I was saying.
-
To the earlier question I presented that clip shows that a bat can just as much be used as a weapon as a Katana, so in that respect Yamamoto has two different weapons at his disposal.
But to answer this question
Does Yamamoto's sword turn into anything that resembles that of some nifty change in weapon appearance?
If you want to get technical, his bat although its meant to change into a sword, it
can still morph back into a bat, so yeah I consider the latter to be a change in weapon appearance even if he's never used it. -
His bat turns into a katana, though. I mean, it was a shitty katana that got broken and then he got one that seemingly works far better.
I respect him more for also using his sword AS A BAT. Constantly using the back-side, the stance he took for his new move.

form turning back to it's original form being any differn't than it was before.
I probably am not making any sence of the point that i'm trying to make.BAT - (turns into) - SWORD (which changes back into back into a…...) - BAT
This does not mean that Yamamoto's sword changes into something else but only reverts back to being a measly baseball bat.
2nd A bat cannot be the same as a katana. A bat can smash someone's skull in and brake bones in arms and various other places. While a katana could do this if you would use the hilt but only an idiot would use it for that, Katana's slice threw flesh.
So Bat and Katana same? no because they both kill differntly

Never said they were the same in how they can harm someone, meant they're similar in the regard that they can both be used as weapons.

Allright.
Who here was a little irritated that the "demon bear" guy was cannon fodder for that arabian looking dude?

Allright.

Dude, I'm still ticked off about Dendro and the massive waste of ink HE was. Amano, no point in lording over how badass the Millefiore are if wimpy TYB! Tsuna at 20% power easily KO's one. :\
-
… Were you guys seriously just arguing over whether a bat transforming into a sword and back counts as a transforming sword?
-
Actually over the fact that a baseball bat could be used as a weapon.
-
@Sandai:
Actually over the fact that a baseball bat could be used as a weapon.
That's why you were arguing with me? I was making a statement about why REBORN wouldn't be popular in the us and I mentioned because it doesn't have ninja's ( A pun on naruto) cute retarted creatures that come out of balls (poke'mon) swords that transform into otherweapons, monsters or give the user niffty power ups ( I was making fun of the ban kai ability from bleach). Than you come along and go "yamamoto has a bat" and here I am sitting at my computer going.Eh?!!? huh? what? wait? trying to piece this together with what I just said almost made my head implode.
-
no because it's not ninja's or people with morphing swords.
It's commonplace for one or more users on a messageboard to find fault with the comments or statements that people make and challenge them which can result in reasonable or unreasonable further discussion on the challenged topic. Besides it's over and done with.

You're such a doosh, Sandai.

… Probably a Ryohei fight. Boxing Kangaroo-rat? Hur hur...
-
So the Ryohei fight has got my interest back up. Too bad by the end of the fight future Ryohei will probably get switched out for 10 years ago Ryohei. At least this will allow for another fresh fighter.
The Sun Boxing Gloves are awesome though.
-
i hope it's a ryohie fight

Just started this series… And caught up two days later. OMG, the Daily Life Arc was so boring for me, but I'd seen pics of Tsuna with the X-gloves everywhere so I knew I had to get to when he finally got them, and now I can safely say I'm hooked. However, some things bug me about the series- no major blips, but really several minor things that, as a whole, really detract from it.
1. Does anyone else notice that the pacing is REALLY crazy?! First off, switching from Daily Life/introductory to instant crazy fights was weird in and of itself, but there was NO time to relax my eyes between the Varia and Future arcs. I guess I'll just have to get used to a series with no rest time between arcs, though.
2. Does anyone else feel like they're missing explanations on abilities?! When Tsuna used the First Edition thing (forgot the full name) I seriously understood only about half of it. Does he freeze his own flames, or does he just make ice instead of flames? And I'm also kind of confused on the flames themselves- their properties are always kind of out there. The abilities relating to color are also confusing me... I really wish Amano Akira would give an in depth explanation of Tsuna's abilities and the Dying Will flames more. I'm also kind of confused on the boxes, but I don't even know where to begin with questioning them. Oh, and Chrome Dukuro/Rokudo Mukuro and their illusions... They REALLY confuse me. Are "illusions" in this series really just ensnaring the mind? If so, then by 'illusion organs' does that mean they're not there and that her minds being fooled to think her body has those organs, so they work? And exactly how much physical power do the Mist Wielder(s) have?! And then there's the thing with the "real illusions"- how does THAT work?!
3. Character development. Or lack there off. I'm seriously annoyed by the fact that Lambo is dropped out of the limelight despite the fact that he's a guardian. And only Tsuna, Gokudera, and Yamamoto ever get ANY character development. And speaking of Gokudera... Why did he turn into such a dick during his fight with Gamma?! Gokudera is still a favorite of mine (no, I'm not a woman or gay)... Just because he still has a lot of funny moments and his hating everybody is hilarious, but I'd REALLY like to know where that huge turn came from. Before I viewed Yamamoto and Gokudera as a toned down Sanji and Zoro (though Zoro isn't carefree, and retorts when Sanji insults him, unlike Yamamoto with Gokudera). Now, though, Gokudera's really grating my nerves. Well, actually, I think it's more the fact that none of his feelings were explained- the best that I can come up with is festering anger over Yamamoto's supposed favortism by Tsuna... and Gokudera's anger at his future self having let future Tsuna die. But it irks me that it was never explained by Gokudera in some heartwrenching scene or something... He seems like a real douchebag for no reason now, and before he was just "lovably hateful"- like Sanji with his constant verbal offenses on everyone but women.
4. This is a really minor problem, and one that I have with other series (namely One Piece and Bleach). But... WHY DOES NO ONE ACTUALLY DIE?! I know that none of the main characters will die (the ones from the present, anyway) but the villains... Have so far been returning one after another- heck, one of them even revived and HELPED Tsuna! I think there would be more of an emotional impact with this series if even just a "minor" villain were to actually kick the bucket.
5. This really goes under character development, but since my Gokudera rant got so long I split it off... Anyway... WHY DO THE FEMALES SUCK (that's just asking for a snarky innuendo as a reply, isn't it?...)?! I know Amano's gender is debated, but I'm seriously doubting it's a female just by how retardedly retarded the females are in this series. There aren't any huge boobs to imply a male, but, all the same, the females don't really do anything but look pretty. Would a female shounen author really portray them like that?! (serious question- the only other shounen series by a female I know of is Inuyasha and maybe D. Gray Man, but I thought Hoshino was said to be a man so I'm not sure). Kyoko is just a bare bones love interest, I-pin/Yipin was interesting at first, but then she stopped doing stuff, Bianchi... is just lame, and Haru doesn't even make me giggle anymore. Why can't we get more female characters like Lal Mirch?! Now SHE is awesome! I'm still debating on whether or not Chrome is a cool femme fatale, but really she's got too little personality outside of her fights, and half of her fights she ends up turning into Mukoro (who's another awesome female, btw, lol).
6. This isn't really a valid complaint- every mangaka has their own stylings with the story and how they want to pull it off, but I just don't like... The length of the fights. Maybe it's because I'm used to long four or five chaptered fights, but the whole two chapters for a fight is kind of depressing. None of the fighters really trade a lot of moves (outside of Tsuna's fights, obviously) with each other and one thing I also don't particularly enjoy is Tsuna's flame fighting powers. They get too DBZish sometimes- I guess I'm just rather a fan of the HTH combat with less focus on projectile attacks and flight and that kind of thing. But again, every mangaka's different, and I can still respect Amano Akira's style and enjoy it. I'm not so selfish or stupid as to say the action is below par just because I would do it in a different way.
Those are my "minor" complaints in rant form. All that said, though… This series is AWESOME for several reasons to. The fights are pulled off extremely well, despite my yearning for less of the 'flashy' stuff like energy beams and the like, and Tsuna as a character REALLY reminds me of two other characters that I really like- Kenichi from History's Strongest Disciple, Kenichi (HSDK), and Sora, from Kingdom Hearts. Well, he mostly just looks like Sora to me, especially with the X-gloves.
And the art... OMG, the art! It's just fantastic! Sometimes in other series I end up getting confused in what happens during a fight, but Amano Akira illustrates things so well that I instantly can see it in motion. And of course the character designs are uber awesomeness- I LOVE the single page shots of a character- you know, like when they're first introduced.
Overall, this series is solidly competing with HxH on my list of favorite series. I just wish I'd waited a little bit longer to start reading... Now I'll have to wait every week for a chapter to get released... sigh
P.S. Sorry for the uber post, I always do this...

Yeah I notice that too, complete 180, one minute a comedy manga akin to Dr. Slump the next it goes the action route. Though I guess it just as well, while I like some of the comedy bit it gets stale fast (Tsuna doing something normal, Reborn shows up, then the rest of the cast for no reason, insanity ensures). And the action isn't bad just wish it went a little faster between chapter.
Yeah it rather complicated but but basiclly there a zero point that catch explosion, adds to his power and use for it own. And the "ice flame" are suppose to be frozen flames after he use the former technique, it not really clear on how he does it though. Something about negative flames or something. As for the illusions, yeah pretty much what you said. Their masters of this craft so it appears as if their illusion are real. Sides It a manga, go with it.
3. Character development. Or lack there off. I'm seriously annoyed by the fact that Lambo is dropped out of the limelight despite the fact that he's a guardian. I've notice that too. All these characters and we hardly get to know the other guardians (Hell Hayato hardly ever gets any screen time now outside of action scenes) and Lambo…well it is kinda hard to write for a character who keeps switching time periods at ten minutes (remember he originally meant for comedy). As for Gokudera, well am guessing his hostility stems from his past with his family. It still in the development but from the look of it they weren't on good terms.
4. This is a really minor problem, and one that I have with other series (namely One Piece and Bleach). But… WHY DOES NO ONE ACTUALLY DIE?! That up to the mangaka, it his/her characters. She can do what she wants with em.
5. This really goes under character development, but since my Gokudera rant got so long I split it off… Anyway... Well we do have that afro girl as well coming up. And I don't think Bianchi that useless, weird fighting style yeah, but at least she gets in there. And there was M.M though she WAS pretty throwaway. Least it not like DBZ which was almost bias when it came to female fighters. Just give it time.
6. This isn't really a valid complaint- every mangaka has their own stylings with the story and how they want to pull it off, but I just don't like… The length of the fights. Gotta agree it does get a little tiresome sometime though I blame the dialogue roughly. Character roughly have to make their point in between attacks not to mention explanation of said attacks as well. Then again mostly all mangas are like this so…meh.
-
New chapter up at onemanga.com and man is it bad ass.
-
Psst Rashou – Mukuro is a guy. ;)
-
I think he knows that, probably said that due to the fact that Mukuro uses Dokuro's in the sense that it almost comes off as gender bending.
-
Okay, read the chapter. Kangaryuu is well… KanGARyuu. You know the drill.
Gokudera is such a child at heart (wanting to meet the tsuchinoko? Aww). Interesting Millefiore background info. from Baishana, although I do wish the Millefiore was more collectively strong than secretly feuding against each other.
Finally, the dead Black Spell's name was Nigella. It probably means something in Italian, but all I could think of was Nigella Lawson. Guess Baish didn't like her food. ;)
-
@Rokudou:
Psst Rashou – Mukuro is a guy. ;)
I want proof!
And thanks for the explanation on the flames and illusions, Retro- now that I go back and reread the chapters it seems to make a lot more sense.

Yeah i sorta want an explanation on that too…and why does it look so wak in the anime...in the manga it was like WTF thats sick! In the anime it just sorta not epic...

I guess I'll just have to get used to a series with no rest time between arcs, though.
Yes, the pacing is horrible. For example, immediately after becoming the official heir to the IX Vongola, Tsuna had to deal with missing Reborn and it somehow spoiled the celebrations. Parts of the daily life arc could be put in between the longer arcs. That could give everyone a breather.
3. Character development. Or lack there off. I'm seriously annoyed by the fact that Lambo is dropped out of the limelight despite the fact that he's a guardian. The thing with Gokudera didn't suprise me because he has very low self-esteem and an obssesion with never failing Tsuna and becoming his right-hand man. He refuses to accept any kind of help, regardless of consequences.
But you're right that it should be explained or at least resolved with something more than silent communication.5. This really goes under character development, but since my Gokudera rant got so long I split it off… Anyway... WHY DO THE FEMALES SUCK (that's just asking for a snarky innuendo as a reply, isn't it?...)?! Yes, our only hope lies in Mukuro :D
Reborn is very careful in it's portrayal of women and the way it removes them from action. I-pin was (and is) crazy strong… but then she decided to sell dumplings! Bianchi is also good but the only fight she had was against... another woman, of course (Oda uses the same tactic, the exception being Robin vs. Yama). Chrome has an awesome chara design (love the eyepatch) and a lot of potential but she never managed to do anything without Mukuro. Lal is a fighter, but of course she is very sick (and therefore unable to fight too much), her curse is incomplete and she's a failed Arcobaleno. But she's a great instructor, so no problem :D
-
Meh, alright chapter. I still dunno about the future arc. That Mosca battle just really put me in a slump for the admiration of Reborn.
-
Is Mukuro dead?, cause i've been wandering that for awhile now.
-
I don't think so due to the fact that real Mukuro (physical form) is presumably still confined in that prison and since Muruko came into contact with Dokuro it's caused some confusion here and there.
-
Parts of the daily life arc could be put in between the longer arcs. That could give everyone a breather.
Yeah, that's what I thought would happen- I figured right after the Ring arc there would be a few chapters of just random hilarity like in the beginning before there was any more action.
EDIT: Looking at the episode guide from wiki, seems like the anime does exactly this. And, speaking of the anime, is it worth watching? I keep hearing mixed opinions about it. Some people complain about edits, but other's say the quality isn't that bad.
