@The:
So Carter and I went to Katsucon this weekend and played Brawl. I only went for a day, so he got to play a lot more. Too bad he's not around to give his impressions on the game… Though he told me he played as Dedede and Lucas, who he definately favored. Dedede, as has been reported and seen in videos, has a ridiculous smash attack.
Anyway, in the round I played I used Lucas (Isle Delfino, 6 stock, 5 minutes, against Luigi, Ganondorf, and Snake, items on low). The game really does feels totally different (slower!), and I like it a lot. Definitely a whole new game. Lucas is a power fighter. He's totally different from Ness, I think that's the kind of thing we can expect from the "clones" in this game.
There's a lot that goes on aerially in this game, big time. Swimming is kinda neat, especially when you expect to die as soon as you hit the water. In the round I played, Luigi kept getting the smash ball. His final smash is extremely inconvenient, but I managed to roll out of the area both times. The items are also real cool, I'm definately going to keep them on (we got the Mario spring boards, excite bike assist, Latias, and 2 smash balls in the 5 minutes we played.)
I really can't wait until this game comes out, playing just whet my appetite even further.
I didn't get to see any of you guys there at Katsucon, that sucks.
Anyway I got to play Brawl there as well. It plays alot slower from Melee so it took about a match to get used to the speed difference. After that though it was fine and I had fun just seeing what items would pop up and using final smashes. Unfortunately nothing I hadn't seen before showed up during the matches I played. Still, it's just gotten more pumped for March 9th. Also I managed to use Lucas too, and I agree with you about how Lucas is more of a power guy instead of a speed fighter. One of the others used Dedede and his final smash is crazy, too much stuff flying and running everywhere. I'd hate to play someone that gets really good with him because Dedede is a monster.
The main person I used was Mario though. I didn't think FLUDD would be as good if I didn't use it myself. It managed to simply push off opponents of edges using it even if it doesn't do any damage. Loving Mario Finale as simple as it may be, it was great seeing the other characters get sent flying by it.
