Considering the ease of commuting back & forth between the island & civilization via the Sub (See Alpert & Ethan) The idea of Ben journeying off island at some point doesn't shock me in the slightest.

Well, it looked like a laboratoy kind-of-thing to me O.o And that made MORE sense.

But does it even matter? He SURELY wasn't his WHOLE life only on the island. And think about it… He was the only non-others-member, so a non-native on the island as a child, when he became a part of the REAL-others (I'm speaking of the native people on the island, like Richard). So somebody had to get all the other people (like Juliette, Tom a.s.o.) on the island at first... And you don't really believe that Ben hasn't been part of this whole thing, do you? So here's your possible explanation, why he's not on the island.

And out of the 4 new characters, I don't know who I like more. The only one that doesn't stand out to me is Charlotte, she seemed kind of lame for the moment.

But mostly, I liked Faraday.

And it's almost Christmas on the island, lol. I wonder if any of the castaways will remember that they're missing Christmas.

I'm hearing news that the writers guild has reached a basic agreement and the strike will be over shortly. I really hope that the scheduling will work out so they can deliver the other eight episodes like, this fall or something.

That's writing. And it just made everything its bitch. This show is what every other piece of fiction wishes it could be.

Now I dunno if this was covered in the spoiler tag filled posts, but Ben didn't spend his whole life on the island. He was born in the US.

I didn't notice until you mentioned it, Greg. It is like the 815 survivors have become the new Others now. The hostility that Miles holds towards Jack and Kate is really familiar. They're in the same situation as the survivors when they first discovered that Ethan wasn't on the plane.

I've just been lurking thru Lostpedia.com and some of the shit there's more mind fucking than the next episode of LOST, but for now I wanna know what your theories are on the numbers? Lostpedia's stating that an executive producer states that the numbers are random, but I doubt that'd be the case.

Also in Lostpedia, there's a quote from the producers that the island is a 'magic box', any chance this quote is referring to how anything can happen on the island and barely have any relation to the box Ben was talking to Locke about?

“I’d be surprised if the network wanted to air episodes deep into the summer,” he said. But if all the pieces fell into place, “Lost” fans would be blessed: “I don’t see why we couldn’t deliver all eight remaining episodes.”

The problem with trying for eight is that it'd likely cause the show to fall into heavy re-runs, while they race to push episodes out of post. ABC & especially Lindelof/Cuse should know how badly the broken airing schedule of Season 2 hurt ratings, and the shows return after the fall arc of S3 was by & large the lowest point of the show in terms ratings.

While I'd love to see the season be completed in its entirety, having to pose the question, is LOST new this week?, every week is something I wouldn't be looking forward to. I think the LOST writing team are talented enough to compress the final eight into five or six episodes in a satisfactory manner (If there's a Jin/Sun/Claire episode in there somewhere, that shit can just go)

Hey, We have 46 episodes left. I don't care if they have a million schedule breaks inbetween. I've always enjoyed the original format myself anyway. I like enjoying TV seasons over a span rather than blowing the load at once. That doesn't mean I won't watch it if they show it all at once, but…I'd enjoy looking forward to Lost through 3/4 of the year instead of 1/4.

That said, if cutting episodes this season means cutting them out of the overall remaining 46, I'll go with ANYTHING they want just to get those 2 hours back.

If you really wanna ruin Christmas check out the reason Charlie couldn't have died. It's kinda...I dunno...it's like a 'duh' thing you learned in Elementary School and really cheapens the whole thing when you watch the scene.

The goal for Cuse and co-showrunner Damon Lindelof is to produce five more episodes this season, a tall order given the time constraints and the scope of storytelling and production on "Lost." Even with five additional hours, Cuse and Lindelof will be three episodes short of the premapped fourth season.

"We will have to condense some stories," Cuse said.

Seems like it'll be five, considering the time restraints & the rate of production (from filming, re-shoots/writes to post production, it takes roughly 20 to 25 days to produce one episode of LOST) that would be around the sweet spot.

Though, I was thinking they could end on 4.08 in March (as initially planned) take the time to shoot the remaining eight from Feb to June/July, air the second half of S4 in the Fall TV season, and begin shooting Season 5 in late '08 to air in Feb-March '09.

Keeps the show relatively fresh & in the publics mind, and they can build off the momentum of S4 going into S5. Seeing as it'd only be off air for a few months, compared to the hellish 8-9 month lull between season 3 & 4.

Very unhappy choice, imo. I really don't like the idea of condensing the 3 "lost" episodes (hoho, pun…) into the other 5. Wouldn't it be much more plausible to extend season 5 for some 3 episodes, rather than compressing those?
Yeah, we wouldn't get a bad-ass season-finale, but hey, for me it would still be the best choice. So now, we should wait and take a look at how it will work out. I'm still hoping for a miracle.

(BF: To be honest, your solution to the problem was also my first thought.^^ And well... Don't see a problem there, either.)

that s*cks.I seriously hope they do NOT compress the 3 last episodes,but if worst comes to worst,extend the last of the 5 episodes with a vliffhanger moment and show the remaining 3 as part of the next season-yes,they were only said to have 16 episodes, but 3 more during a whole year wont kill them AND it actualy wont make them cheat on their story and fans.

Variety reports that Cuse tells them that any unproduced episodes planned for this season (presumably three at this point) will be added to the final two seasons at some point, seemingly keeping the show on track to produce 48 episodes total over the course of its final three years.

I've looked at it a few times and I think it looks bigger because we see more of Mikhail but that's because he's distanced himself from it.

And yeah, Charlie giving up would also make perfect sense because, let's face it, he chose to close himself in and die to protect Desmond's flash, but here's the thing…

The water would only fill in to the top of the hole. After that air couldn't escape and Charlie would be left with a huge air pocket just kind of twiddling his thumbs, staring at Desmond and Desmond staring back at him until he eventually ran out of oxygen. If they made the hole at the top of the ceiling or even on the ceiling it would have made perfect sense but that's clearly not the case.

Because the author of the article was going for sensational dip-shit 'creative' reporting and didn't clarify that statement it could be taken one of two ways:

1: It has aired the last episode of its season.

2: It has aired the last episode ever.

If the trailer on YouTube is any indication, that film looks pretty well done. May need reshoots but it looks like they have most of it completed. That said, yes, if Cane is cancelled it looks like he may just be on tap for a return in the last batch of episodes as was planned. Here's hoping he gets added as a regular. He's a killer thesp.

Is it just me or are these flashforwards more interesting than the actual episodes? Sayid was phenomenal as always. His girlfriend being an assassin herself was pretty surprising to see, but also added so much more to the episode; although her blindly walking into the room and being gunned down by Sayid was pretty ridiculous. Ben being Sayid's boss, on another note, was god damned amazing! I was playing with the idea in my head that it was Michael but once you heard that voice it was obvious as to who it was.

One last thing that I think is going to really make this show more amazing than previously is the fact that every one of these flashforwards shows/tells the audience one more big mistake that the focus character made during this current season. That in itself is enough for me to watch!

The revelation of Ben as Sayid's boss was freaking awesome! As soon as I heard his voice, I got a fangasm and gasped "Ben?!". There are still alot of unanswered questions as to why he decided to work for Ben in the first place.

Flashforwards are alot more interesting than flashbacks. You can't deny that.

Great episode, as always. Not as mindblowing as the last one, but the last scene was fu**ing grand.
Amusing thing for me, to see, the ff happened in Germany (Where I live, currently… lol Well, also where I was born, for instance XD) and hear them speak a very good but still kind of weird German.

Yeah, and now over with this stupid German-stuff (To be honest, my parents are from Croatia so - who the hell cares about Germany XP)

I toyed with the idea, Ben to be Sayids boss as the episode went on, and recognized the voice immediatelly, so it wasn't that of a shock, but still great.

Weird thing - now we've seen three different flashforwards, and EVERY SINGLE ONE has turned all my theories upside down.
Jack - we've seen him totally devastated, and it seemed like he wanted to go back to the island.
Hurley - also kind of wracked up, but also kind of insane. Here it seemed like Haddon wanted to know, if Hurley has still contact to the others. (Which are presumably the people left on the island.)
But now Sayid - He's totally normal, but executes orders, he get's from Ben, to save or protect his friends? (The people left on the island...?)

So what's going on now? Is Sayid trying to protect the location of the island (in order to protect his friends there?) or to SAVE them from the island (which is not corresponding to Jack's wish to get back there)? Thousands of questions, almost no answers.....

And: I LOVE it, dammit!! ^^

So far, we've seen that getting off the island really has screwed up most of the Oceanic 6. The only person who's the closest to normal is Kate. Or at least, that's how it seems now.

From the "Next time on Lost.." you can tell Kate's pretty famous, meaning most likely she's one of the 6.

The man Kate was getting back to was Ben. Ben is the ring leader of the Oceanic 6 (minus Hurley) and one of them eventually kill him (him being the man from the funeral) .

Can't wait for Desmond's flash forward (hopefully he'll get one) cause his episodes are always packed with info.

Biggest question of the episode for me, time travel. The island has a void of 30 minutes. Though 30 minutes doesn't seem like much, what if the time is constantly increasing? Or even decreasing, it might explain why Richard never really aged. Time doesn't pass the way it does in the real world, meaning the island gives people immortality, sort of. Kind of like the Hypobolic Time Chamber, lol. This could also explain the return of teen Walt, and Michael coming back. I'm sure Ben could easily hide the fact that it's like, 2010 and not 2001 anymore.

My random theories of the day. A week without One Piece is torture.

Since he was a young boy, and they didn't seem to come from the year 1850 and the flight 815 people landed 2001 there, I think there's not a immortality-thing about the whole island.

Maybe the people who live outside the barrier don't age? Cause Richard didn't age, and he lived outside of the barrier, but Ben continued to age.

There's definitely going to be a reason why Walt looks older (aside from his actor growing) and Richard not getting older.

Though, iirc, the freighter people didn't seem surprised when Jack said it's been 100 days, so that might put a damper into my theory.
