I don't think this had been made a topic yet  …who do you think will leave the crew? Oda is probably taking SOMEONE off, he said he would. Personally I hope Robin will stay...

They say that the leaving crew member was Goin Merry, but personally I dont buy that. Honestly, I kind of think Usopp might leave, as much as I hate that.
-
I think it's very obvious that neither will leave.
-
he said he was taking someone off, but never said anything about that person coming back or i think he didn't.
-
Nobody is going to leave, Usopp will have to rejoin the crew or I'll stop my 7 months fanship of One Piece, Nico is too good to leave the crew so she stays or I will do the same thing. Chopper, Zoro, Nami or Sanji can't leave the crew ethier (I know this is "Usopp or Nico" but let me break the rule here).

I wouldn't stop reading One Piece if one of those two left, but I have been waiting a VERY long time to see Ussop actually grow some balls and use his awsome shooting skills in a battle. We already know that he has excellent aim with a variety of weapons, but he is always suhc a coward so i want to see him get stronger during this arc and defeat a strong opponant with a REAL pistol..
-
But would he still be Usopp if he had a pistol and took on any challenger?
-
digs around Found it~! http://ap.animemedia.org/index.php?showtopic=210
Both have technically already left the crew. They just need to come back. :)
-
One of the things I love about Usopp is that he doesn't NEED to use a gun– he uses his wits and inventions against his opponents-- that makes him unique, not just another "bad*ss" with a gun. I really don't get the whole 'Usopp with a gun' fixation people have. How exactly would that make him cooler?
--Bevin
-
Usopp with a gun is like Shadow with a gun. VERY NO.
Also, NEITHER ARE LEAVING WE TALKED ABOUT THIS BEFORE.
-
Usopp will come back. he will keep using his sling shot. he got more 'dial's' in skypiea and we've only seen a couple of them. i bet oda's got a whole bunch more cool attacks in store for him. robin hasn't really left, she's just turned herself in. usopp and robin are still in all the cover pages/spreads that oda's doing (including 364), so they're not gone at all.
ooshi78
p.s. buccaneer, you just had to put "oh my god" in your post didnt' you…
-
Noooo, Usopp can't leave. I wouldn't have minded if it was 100 episodes ago but now he has become too likable which means…..... Robin should go.
-
You know the only "problem" I would have with Usopp coming back is that I just can´t imagine how it will happen without ruining the great way he left in the first place. I mean chapter 333 was so much more then just a fight between friends. It was so well written that I thought it might be best if Usopp stays away from the Strawhats.
But then again, if Oda can write such a brilliant chapter about leaving then I bet he can write also a great chapter(s) about returning. At least I hope so because the Strawhats without Usopp just wouldn´t be the Strawhats. -
You know the only "problem" I would have with Usopp coming back is that I just can´t imagine how it will happen without ruining the great way he left in the first place
The only thing that would ruin the chapter is him NOT coming back. :P I don't think Oda wrote him leaving without already thinking of how he's bringing him back.
-
Nobody leaves. If Robin leaves I'll stop reading One Piece and start making Two Piece with her in the main role :P
-
They'll both leave, and so will Zoro. No particular reason, but that's the kind of manga One piece is. Full of failed friendship (tongue twister?).
-
Chopper.
No, seriously.
Somehow, someway, and because of the lack of the title 'The ________ crewmember' manga titles just give me funny feelings about the situation.
-
That'd be the lamest thing ever. The crewmember breaking away thing is played out enough already.
Yes, ooshi, I had to. I've been waiting for a while to slip that into a post. :P
-
technically speaking… if you use the word "leave", then both Usopp and Robin have left the crew. but i'm confident in both their returns (or at least i should say... i'm really hoping they return ^_^)
-
Chopper DID leave already, during the Davy Back Fight. That makes at least four instances of a crew member leaving, if you count the Merry, so it's already been fulfilled in spades. He didn't say they wouldn't be back… wasn't the rest of the quote "but it'll be okay", or something like that?
-
Haha! That guy sure know what he's talking about then. Tricky as hell…
So we can basically conclude that no one leaves ;) If it's any other Anime or manga I probably won't care, but since it's One Piece... I'm happy!

OK, I´ve heard it now often enough that people refer to what Oda said, so I´m curious as hell. Is there actually a place online where I can read (translated of course) what Oda said? I would sure like to read these comments from him. Any help here please.
-
neither but i hope one will
-
why do you hope one will leave. i would like both of them to stay.

There's various SBS and website interviews scatted all aroud the internet.
I don't really like the "Oda said" thing. I came to my conclusion because it just seems obvious.

Well I said it that way because all my info I have is from this very forums, which means statements from other fans. I don´t know if he truly said something or if he was just speaking in riddles to tease everyone. That´s why I asked for the interview the first place. I want to read the real deal to make my own conclusions. ;)
-
Going Merry.Franky finished it…Robin and Usopp will back for sure, and I wonder Franky will join the Strawhats(He´s so funny!)
But Usopp and Luffy need to think about what happened...
Hey,the sniper must be crazy if he think that can travel in the Grand Line alone!

**SBS stands for…..some Japanese phrase that I'll never remember. Basically, Oda just answers fans' (often very odd) questions in the tankobon. They can be found at stephen's.
Those interviews, I don't know about, though. Try omae no kaasan's site and Arlong Park for those.
Lastly, I didn't mean you when I said "the 'Oda said' thing."
-
Stephen's site has them too. Or is his site still down?
Buccaneer: what manga is your sig from?
-
SBS stands for "Shitsumon Boshuu Shimasu" or in english "a open call for questions"
it's basically a Q&A session with oda and his readers… as Buccaneer was saying, the questions often get very weird with readers trying to take over the questions and stuff. sometimes it's hillarious.

My sig isn't from a manga, it's K' from The King of Fighters videogame series.

back in the old forum I posted this piece article I got from Animonster (an Indonesian anime manga magazines) there's an interview with Oda, here's the article:
but, It's in Indonesian of course. and since this issue was published last year, this is absolutly out of date. and I can translate it all to english but right now I don't have the time (need to wake up early tomorrow). but the main point is below:
-at Jump Festa 2003, desember 2002, Oda said 'there will be 1 crew left the boat'
-one year later, at Super Stage Jump Festa 2003, desember 2003, Oda said 'there will be something/someone (not actually use a subject here) that will leave the boat, but it will be allright. Don't worry'hope this will be a help, if it's not too late already :P
-
If Usopp leaves, Francky won't join the Straw hat crew.
If Robin leaves I'll stop reading One Piece. -

right now, i'm pretty convinced that the Going Merry is the thing that's leaving… or it could be that Usopp has left (which he actually has) and will just return... ^_^
-
Well, Oda seems like the kind of guy that would have a sense of humor like that. "See, I said someone would leave, I never said they would never come back." ^_^ In this case Ussop and Robin left, and Merry seems to be deceased. Who'da thunk it.
-
i think if robin or ussop leave they will come back later one way or another
-
devil^^kid, I believe that what will happen. both of them can't leave the crew, especially not Robin :P and I think it's been discused before that the one who will go is Going Merry sniff but… I still believe Merry didn't crash back then, she will show herself again somewhere ><
@changso: what?? you too??? o_O?? surprised but it's nice to see another Indonesian here :D
-
I dont get why you guys say You'll stop reading OP if Usopp or Robin leave, I mean there awesome characters, but You read the OP manga/watched anime without them before…
I've got this eery feeling that Oda is going to make someone we completely dont expect at all to leave, like Zoro or someone. (Hopefully, and probally wont happen though. ^^ ) -
you will hate what i will say but if zoro leaves im not ever gonna watch op again never i tell you
plus look at my avatar imagine no more of that. no ussop no fun -
Well, I suppose I ca'nt understand what you guys are feeling since I've not really gone through a Awesome character possible leaving… But then again, I honestly dont think they'll cut Usopp off, He's been in it far too long, Hasn't completed his goal, and obviously still cares about the Straw Hats.
I'm going to re-read the W7 arc, To confirm a suspisoun I just had...
-
I started reading One Piece because of Usopp… That's how I come to love the rest...
-
I don't want any of the character to get killed off, if ONE character gets killed off I will stop reading One Piece. I think it will be wasteful tto kill off any 7 characters and Oda don't need to do that. Here is my explaintion:
Usopp:
He is the ligthhearted character of the series, when he frist joined he has proved to be a likeble character, just look at what he has done past 10 arc from Kuro to DBF and POW Oda gonna terminate him? I know that can be a great plot point killing off a main character but this is totally unessasary and it's a bad idea to kill off the charater that serve great purpose of the story even if he active his goal.Usopp is one of the big reason why I like One Piece and if he gets killed off I will get an empty feelling about One Piece and I won't be able to enjoy One Piece, I will stop reading One Piece if that happens.
Robin:
Robin has been with the Straw Hats for 107 chapters, 11 Volume and 3 arc and already Oda wants to throw her out of story window? She olny read two phoneglyph and she replaced Vivi's crew seat, she has prove worthy like Usopp many times. When she joined I was refreahed about that, I was impresseed of how she grew during the Jaya, Skypedia, and DBF, I remember she said in the DBF arc that she did not want to be traveling with Foxy, I remember she said she wants to go to Raftel for the Rio Phoneglyph and if she leaves it'll be like lie.Now we know little more about Robin that is a loner that gets follewed around by the Government and any friends she makes gets busted by the Buster Call which fills Robin with a dark void in her heart which is why she follows the Straw Hat pirate because of thier marcy. Robin may looked strange but she has helped the Straw Hats many times and if she really betray them she would had killed them before reaching Water 7 or in the burning manison. All Robin wants is friends and she has hate towards the Government for ruining her life yet is why she has to sacrafice to save them.
Robin proved to be helpful and worthy, like Usopp if she leaves then it will damage the storyline that sets out for her and will be wastful to kill her and it will be lame if some one else replace her like she did to Vivi. Killing her off will damage my taste for OP so Oda better had her rejoin the crew along with Usopp or I'll will stop reading OP.
I know she was frist introduced at the end of Whiskey Peak sega as Miss All Sunday but this is about when she frist joined the crew
Chopper:
I don't know where people get it that Chooper may be a terminated character, in DBF he was temporory stolen from the crew but he rejoined. I don't see a reason for him to leave the crew and he has proven worthy in the OP storyline and he is my favorite character.Zoro:
Poor Zoro, gets bleeded alot, but if he gets killen off, OP will lose its cool, he want to figth Mihawk and if he gets terminated, then his dream mean nothing, I want to see Zoro kick more and figth Mihawk againNami:
Sure, she can act bicthy, but I guess because what happen to Bellemare cause her to act this way. But Nami save the Straw Hat's ass with her navigating skills many times,(rememeber in chapter 130, there was a cyclone and if Nami was not around, the Straw Hats would died in the cyclone) she has shown worthyness many times, she has shine sometimes. Nami is too cool and sexy to be terminated. If she did will ruin OP big time.Sanji:
I know in the old forum I made a "Mybe Sanji is the Terminted character" I admit I jump the subject to far. Yes he may be annoy but he is funny and much of a father figure of the group, and I don't have much feeling for him but to be fair he is also important to the One Piece storyline and to kill him off will be wastful thing to do. He is also worthy too be around and terminating him will damage the One Piece storyline.Luffy:
Gosh, I like this guy, plus he's the main character and it won't be One Piece without him  I don't want to see this wide-eyed hyper dude to go. -
it's your loss if you stop reading….
but i dunno, i highly doubt of anyone leaving...but who knows, it's possible... :\ the only "less" important role on the ship would obviously be robin.. .b-bu-but i dont want her to leave D: -
I think no one will "definatly" leave, I like the idea of a crewmember leaving and coming back, it shows the strengh of friendship and how no simple fight can end a true frindship. -_-
-

the only "less" important role on the ship would obviously be robin..I've a hard time in understanding this, and it's not because of the wording.
I might not stop reading if Usopp leaves but I would be frustrated and disappointed for sure though. Fortunatly, I don't see it happening. Neither with Robin.
-
I definetely wouldn't stop reading, but I'd be annoyed. Luffy's crew says a lot about him. But, I basically know for a fact that Oda wouldn't just stress his fans, even if there was a chance of it making for a better story.
-
I hope both Robin and Ussop will stay, especially Robin.
And I think that's why Oda put Foxy's arc before W7 arc, to show how Luffy care about his nakama (which is exactly why Robin couldn't betray them, unlike other organizations she was with before).
I'm pretty sure they will join Straw-Hats back soon. :)@tare chan and changso : me Indo too :P
-
I acually think it would add plot depth if sombody left. I dont really want them too, of course, but, when you see someone like Usopp leave its totally obvious he will come back, becuase he has been with them for like, ever. So it would just be a pretty big twist if he left. Huh, ironic.
And how is Robin a less important member on the ship? I mean, she might not have a normal ship job, but shes the only person in the entire world who can read the ancient language. I think that kinda makes the SH pirates a bit better. Also, she knows like, EVERYTHING. Seriously, when that ship fell down from Skypiea and she saw the skeleton she was all like "Hm, he died this many years ago and because of this which was caused by this but then this happend, isnt that right Docter?" and Choppers like " Uh ya sure" Not to mention that they couldnt have even known about Skypiea if it wasnt for her. I think Robin acually makes other crew members less useful acually. She acually gives Nami navigating tips. So I think if anyone is a less important crew member, its Nami, and because of Robin ;)
-
I acually think it would add plot depth if sombody left.
I understand what you mean and I even agree a bit but somebody leaving the crew wouldn't really improve to the story. And don't forget that Vivi already did that.
she knows like, EVERYTHING.
Yeah, this is so often overlooked. Besides she's able to gather new information like nobody else. But why I love Robin is her relationship with others in the crew, especially with Chopper. She really cherish our little innocent reindeer. Because of this I see her as almost like the mother figure of the crew. She enjoy seeing her "kids" having fun and let them fool around but if ever demand, she is very capable to protect them and even ready to sacrifice herself for them.
