What's the monkey from?
@Really:
I mean, I know Zoro isn't the manliest character but he seriously lost to THIS BISHIE.
Kyouya's a different type of man, I guess. I didn't agree with that round either, I don't consider Ouran's characters to be Gar in the slightest.
@Really:
And how did fucking ROY MUSTANG beat KAZE.
The TYPE-MOON fans, who did (and still) make up a huge portion of /a/'s population, were too busy crying over NANAYA SHIKI losing to Kyon (lulz). I agree, that match was a diappointment too, since Kaze is a true man in a manga full of women and children.
I blame the fact that the "joke" characters got so far on people who expected the tournament to just run smoothly, neglecting to vote at critical times. By the block finals we'd elliminated all the jokes, but the damage was done.
@Really:
Lelouch fucking beat DUTCH, too!
It's unfair to claim this, since at the time people voted for Lelouch he hadn't degraded into a whiny, stuck up brat. People saw episode four of Geass and shat bricks, which is why he made it that far.
Expect his father, Charles di Britannia, to progress quite nicely. But Lulu won't get anywhere this time around.
@Really:
That all doesn't matter though since some super popular character like GUTTS or KAMINA is gonna win it in the end, though.
It's more likely a "safe" character, one who isn't very controversial (or at least a lot of people aren't compelled to hate) will win. Hence, Lord Genome (who isn't that popular) would be a likely winner.
@Really:
Not saying that, just saying this shit is basically a popularity contest.
It is a popularity contest. All vote-based elections are, that's something that'll never change.
But, it does stand that, in the end, all the block finals were very manly, as were the quarters, semis, and the final match itself. You could argue that it's more of a case of "popular Gar", but certainly those who broke into a final match were among the cream of the crop, since they had to fight their way tooth and nail to get there.
The means are imperfect, but the end is just.
