I didn't mean the part about the interview. Just reading that quote from the Editor-in-Chief mentioning One Piece with the likes of Bleach and Naruto when it's usually just lumped with the other series.

Well VIZ used to release their manga completely uncensored with swearing, all original names, and better translation/dialouge. They made just as good sales as they did then with what they're selling now. Aside from some hate mail from some overprotective parents, the manga being completely left intact with would sell just as good if not better then what's being sold now. How they're treating their manga is bullshit, and I'm sick of them feeling a need to use the names used in butchered TV adaptions. From what I've seen, the GX manga looks decent. But they used every single name change from 4K!Ds anime dub, which makes it fairly hard to read. Not to mention them reverting to all of the English card names, but that may be more heavier ground, with more pressure from Konami then anyone else.
Only because they don't want kids going "ZOMG WHY ARE THEY CALLING 'THE CHAZZ' MANJOUME SANDAA?!"
I can understand why they pulled that with Yugioh GX.

Well, I personally find Chopper saying "you stupid bastards!" and shit VERY funny, so I guess I'd say I enjoy the swearing. Plus, when someone's pissed off, they're more likely to actually cuss.. not say "freakin'" and "jerks." I don't know how old you people are, but that's more realistic to me, especially if someone's vs. in a fight. I can live, either way, but personally find it more appealing with the swearing. "Damn" is a must for me; "darn" is lame.

They don't even call Manjoume "Manjoume Thunder" in the manga. It doesn't seem like they plan to either since they haven't even touched on any form of North Branch of the Duel Academia, just the American Academia where David Rabb and Reggie MacKenzie come into play.
Honestly, if they left the names alone, they would have saved themselves a lot of trouble when the American characters come into play. Plus, they left the majority of the names (except for Pegasus, who seemed to flip-flop between names every single chapter) alone in their original YGO release, and everyone knows that the dub anime ran for a long while in the US before the American Shonen Jump even hit shores.

Not too much really to say but basically Simon Says has verified that the Oda one-shot book "Wanted" will be released in the US in September, 2008. Nice to see some of his other stories get the time of day in this country…but sadly there's still nothing in regards to a time skip or anything and only one volume released in the four-month period. (don't ask about how many Naruto and Bleach are getting)

Wanted being released? Cool! I wonder if we will ever be seeing the log books or the next 2 color walks plus, Rainbow? It will take a long while before they can release the other 2 color walks though what with the characters who are featured in them. But they can still release the first Color Walk (I think). But I guess they don't really have to worry about spoilers anymore what with how far along the anime is and heck most of it will come from Unlimited Adventure. Really sucks for the US fans huh?

I noticed they're still not consistency-checking. I read ES21 17 last week, and all of a sudden, Raimon's hero's name is spelled "Honjyo", when ten books back, it was "Honjo".

That's because HC Language took over the translations and adaptations while Urian Brown (One Piece's editor) took over as editor too.

But other than that, on one of the pages in Bleach where Ichigo is telling his hollow to go away next to Orihime with the words on the background…is that a solid white block I see behind it? That's something fast scanlations do.

depends on how color walk 2 and DF Blue or Red goes to if they go past Skypia.
then again they have the Naruto Profile books to I think either Ep.66 or 200

It's great to hear about Wanted. Perhaps this is a sign of an increase in OP's popularity. Though having said that, it is annoying to see OP may be reverting back to one volume every four months…

You know what deeply saddens me? I just started collecting jobs monthly like 6 issues ago, while I also have the first ever issue and 2 other random older ones. Sad thing is…I don't own a single one with a One Piece character on the cover.
Instead I got Goku, Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King, Ichigo, and a whole lot of Naruto's....they gotta run out of Naruto covers soon.

Well, with One Piece's rating slowly increasing, it's probably gonna get more respect than it does now. Right now it's probably only behind Bleach and Naruto.

They said nothing at the NYAF expect how great Naruto, Bleach and Death Note are looking for next year.
They also apparently said that the creator of Bobobo is going to start working on the manga again but I really don't have anything to say about that until I see more info.

They were talking about the 2nd series he did which ended earlier in the year.

Volume 18 out in June means we're back to a 3 month wait, though we still have to wait until March for 17. Hopefully from 18 on we'll have a consistent timeframe between volumes (especially now that the Shonen Jump Evolution seems to have ended mostly, and the book will hopefully have a more steady and consistent lineup)

Actually, they do (or at least did) sell it in bookstores. I got a copy when it first came out, but I guess they're harder to find now. Probably weren't selling too well.
Anyway, I too am going to get Color Walk 2 and any other One Piece extra books that come out. -

I guess to Viz internet fandom goes a long way considering Naruto, Bleach, and Death Note are probably the three biggest titles on the internet these days. Honestly sometimes I think Viz is turning into NF. Yeah One Piece gets a little love from Viz, but in the long run it's just one small subforum in an ocean of Naruto, Bleach, and Death Note loving weeaboo.

Honestly there are so many othher series they could be trying to promote. Oh well at least I don't have to worry about them screwing Shaman King over or Zatch Bell for that matter. It just sucks that One Piece is getting screwed over by staying in the magazine… even if that's the only series in the magazine I even care about anymore.

Bleach is nearly caught up with Japan (it's like seven or eight volumes behind) and this way Viz can both make more money as well as let the magizine readers know the the heck is going on when all of a sudden they have to put it in the magizine a year or two down the line. It was either with the Arracana arc or the middle of whatever arc they are currently in over seas. As for Narto and Death Note (something I'm a huge fan of) I'm loving the attention they're getting. I've got every JUMP issue and volumes 17-27 of Naruto and whatever. By this time next year JUMP'll be publishing material from volume 33 or 34 and considering how slow Naruto volumes come out in Japan we'll probably be able to sync up with Japan sooner or later. Maybe then, when there's not so much work to be done, that One Piece could get some lovin' but for now we'll have to make due.

I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

From what someone said, they were basically at the tail end of Drum: Chopper has joined the crew but they didn't do the Dalton/Kureha conversation or the Bon Kurei scene.

FMA is not a Shueisha title so it is not going to be in JUMP.

If only square enix would bring over the Higurashi manga then. Heck they own the rights to that too after all…
but ah well I don't mind FMA staying out of the magazine. I just wish they wouldn't have bothered putting Bleach in. I mean after all the actual story runs slow enough without Viz dragging it out.

Yeah, wonder what they'll do with Bon Kurei. From the scanlations I've read of his introduction he flat out declares "I'm Gay!" in those words on his introduction page. I would normally just say that was just the scanlation, but from my knowledge he was gay in the manga but was toned down to an transvestite in the anime.
