I paid 50 bucks for 1-2 and they sent me the Taiwan version instead of the advertised Japanese edition.

Did you complain?? What did they say? Where are they located at?
Should this be in General?
Regardless, don't buy anything from gkworld.com. My roommate made the mistake of ordering a Vampire Hunter D wallscroll from them on Ebay a few years ago. Not only did it take about two and a half months for her to recieve it, then after she recieved it they reported her to Ebay for non payment and it wasn't until she wrote back to Ebay saying that she had paid for AND RECIEVED her item and showed them the online reciepts that the whole thing got cleared up. Apparantly they'd gotten several complaints about that seller for the same sorts of things as well.
Did you order this through their website or on Ebay? If from Ebay, I'd say report them or give them negative feedback at least. If from the website, send them a complaint and maybe demand a partial refund: they did not give you what you ordered and they do this constantly. And people continue to buy from them because they manage to weasel out of their negative feedback scores or what have you. It makes me mad.
Anyway, that sucks.

This was why I don"t order anything online, because they would screw up the order.
Hey Stephen, when is your site going to come back up?
I only order from big sites… like Amazon ^^; Despite me being so Internet addict, I don't really purchase things online o.o
Stephen's site is up here: http://mangascreener.com/stephen.
Yeah I wrote them an email and I'm assuming they will get back to me tomorrow.
I ordered from their website, not eBay.
I got an Eva soundtrack from them for cheap (and they delivered quickly) but this has totally soured the experience and I'm definitely not ordering from them again.
I've had nothing but good experiences with most online sites, especially Amazon, but I did have a bad experience with a site called "The Place" after they didn't send me some special orders I'd paid for. I think a lot of people had the same problem, because the last I heard they were getting hit with a class action lawsuit, but on the offchance they're still around, don't order from them.
How do you now which sites do you trust and which you dont

As far as I know the taiwan publisher, Tong Li, does pretty good translations of manga when compared to our local publisher.
But anyway, is there any difference between the taiwan publisher and the original japanese one? Only the translated text? Well if you got the colourwalk only for the pictures, I dont think you would have minded the text anyway.
I can read Japanese, but not Chinese. I did get it for the art, obviously, since it's an artbook, but now I won't be able to read what any of the captions say, or the interviews between Oda and Toriyama/Fujiko.
The basic issue here is false advertising.
Sorry, but…
You paid 50 bucks for two (wrong versions) of the Color Walks? That's insane.
I got both of them from Amazon in three days for less than 40 bucks.
Is shipping to America really that expensive from Amazon, or did you honestly think you'd be better off paying 50 bucks?
Another 10 dollars is not a big deal to me, and they shipped it in two days. I've paid 60 bucks on shipping for huge orders from Acclimate to have them come overseas within a week, rather than wait 2-4 weeks.
Anyways, they said they would reimburse me the money + shipping cost if I sent the books back in, so the situation is resolved for the moment. Aside from the wasted effort it's not a huge deal… I didn't have to have the books, I just saw them and bought on impulse. It's not as if I checked every webstore I could find to come up with the best deal… If I needed them that desperately I would have bought the books before now.
, but now I won't be able to read what any of the captions say, or the interviews between Oda and Toriyama/Fujiko.
I could scan the Fujio one for you. And as far as the Toriyama interview:
Ack, that sucks. The collectors show that I go to every now and then has the not-bootlegged Color Walk book for only $20.
