Hey everybody apparently the Big Bombers(Canadianman and Specialman) have figured out Chaos' secret (of supposedly not being a Chojin.) and are going to expose it….could it be that.......the Big Bombers are going to get important roles?
-
how is it when Ultimate Muscle came to the US ,we only got Kinnikuman 2 series from japan and not the 1st series(Before Kid muscle)?

Wow thats a first XD

It was because the Original Kinnikuman anime was too old so 4evil got Kinnikuman Nisei series,I wish somebody brings the Original Kinnikuman to the US :(
-
Some people are fansubbing it. But they're taking awhile. I wish they could finish it so I could fandub it. If only I had a microphone thing to use for voiceovers…...
-
Ultimate muscle is at Vol 17 now and 18 comes out in November.
whos translating the Manga anyways for the US?
-
Viz is, I believe.

Wait you want them to hurry up even though your not prepared?
-
I have to read the fansubs first anyway, so I would pretty much be prepared after I watch the 20th Chojin Olympics arc.

Those are awesome.

sticks her head in Am I too late to join in the Kinnikuman fun?
I kinda came into the fandom late (the end of the dub's run on Fox/4Kids), but I've been trying to make up for it by finding/buying all the stuff I could find. I'm also on the AKIA forums under the name Chibibee.
Erm, if anyone's interested, I'm putting up some japanese episodes of Kinnikuman Nisei up at dailymotion.com. The subs are cruddy bootleg versions, and I only have 1-26, so those'll all be going up (if I don't get busted again). I also have a few dub episodes that were reaired on 4Kids last summer, so I may put them up as well. Dailymotion link is for clicking

The special with Neptuneman was awesome, especially the reaction shot at the end of it. Just makes me wish there were more manga of this translated.

Oh, so you're chibibee? Welcome to Arlong Park. ^_^ I commented on your "Mantarou's Osaka Song".

also..they should bring back the Dub on Toonami or Miguzi,

Sweet, never got to see Neptuneman or Big the Budo while I was in Japan. They were both released after I left.
I had some great fun with that game in Akihabara though. Because it's such a simple fighting game, I could actually beat challenging opponents as opposed to my pathetic attempts on Guilty Gear and Hokuto no Ken.

Yeah, the Hell Missionaries were the two I was the most excited about. And the fact that they have really badass movesets made me even more excited.
I just wish they'd announce a PS2 port already. Ugh. The first game was probably the best Kinnikuman game ever made, and one of my favorite anime-based fighters.
How's the Kinnikuman project going?

Too true. They're the best additions to the sequel, in my opinion. I really hope that they don't screw us over and decide not to port it.
Having the Throne arc in the story mode would be pretty nice too.
Unfortunately, the fansubs are still at a hold until I can find a translator. I've had the first six episodes timed, typeset, karaoked and everything for months now, but it's just been so insanely hard to find anyone who'd be willing to translate.
It's really a shame though, Kinnikuman is definitely one of my very favourite series. It's nice to see sites like AKIA (Drax in particular) helping to put it in the light a little bit more, but with it being so old, it's just so hard to find anyone to contribute.
Never knew you were a Kinnikuman fan though, Carter. Kudos to you. Kudos to everyone who posts in thread.
If anyone is interested or knows someone else who might be, please, please get in contact with me. Getting the project started would be a dream come true.

Now, you'll have to forgive me for double posting (and bumping), but I figured as fellow Kinnikuman fans on a One Piece forum, you'd all like to see this.
! We all know Oda was a Kinnikuman fan, what with Pandaman's origin, but I'm not sure if I've seen this picture circulating the net before so here you go. It's from the Kinnikuman special book "Team Muscle", and while it's a bit sketchy, it's freaking awesome as far as I'm concerned.
It's a photo taken on my phone so it's not amazing quality, but I hope you enjoy! And if this has already made its rounds, you have my apologies.

Wow Oda made that looks awesome

That's the first I've seen that, pretty awesome. Thanks for that.
Ahahaha, I just realized the bad guy in the back is Shishikaba Boo. Old stuff.

When did that book come out?

No worries, glad you like it. =)
When did that book come out?
All the way back in 1999. 24th August 1999, to be precise, so One Piece had been serialized for just over 2 years at the time.

You are my new favorite fansub guy.
I'd love to help, but I know no one who speaks japanese.
If I did, I'd make sure they'd help you. XP
Glad such a good group has a member interested in Kinnikuman. All the "subs" I've seen were very very VERY low quality.
I hope you haven't given up.

Yeah, that looks about right going by Oda's art style. Thanks.
Is there a good place to get raws of the original series? I read everything that T-W scanned a while ago and would like to see the rest of the series before starting Nisei.
-
#lurk has the entirety of the series in raws.
All 36 volumes.

Don't worry, I certainly haven't given up. If the opportunity ever comes up when someone is willing to help out, I'd be straight on it.

You're welcome. And for G1 raws, as Cap'n Carter stated, the best place to venture to is #lurk. They have all 36 volumes of the original series, but unfortunately no Nisei, Ramenman or the like.
However, Viz fortunately releases (a somewhat bastardized) version of Nisei, and because he's so insanely awesome, DRAX over at LittleRubberGuys.com posted all of the Ramenman manga at the following link:
http://www.littlerubberguys.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19462
It's definitely worth a look if you're interested in Kinnikuman. He's also got the raws for the new Nisei Tag manga there too if you look through some of the threads.
-
I want to download all the raws but I'll have to wait until I delete some stuff off my computer.
For Nisei, I've been considering buying the Viz ones, but I haven't decided yet. I'm already buying their JoJo's and Saint Seiya, so I don't know if I can afford it.
Despite being a favorite series of mine, I haven't been able to read/watch much Kinnikuman, because it's kind of difficult to get.
-
I'd really like to see a groups scanslate the manga properly. I've considered putting together my own group, but I don't have the resources to really make it successful.
Viz's Nisei is… okay. It's uneditted now, but it's put out at a horrendous pace and there's a lot of really embarrassing translation errors ("Georgioman"), not to mention use of 4Kids names if that bugs you.
Honestly my gripes with Nisei probably have less to do with Viz than it being a very mediocre series to begin with.

I really couldn't agree more - I'd at least like to see all the gaps that T-W left out filled. It would be great if Viz were to license the manga too, as long as they didn't make any name edits or the like to keep it consistent with their "Ultimate Muscle" releases.

Yeah, I'm pleased that all the graphics edits have been halted now, but the 4kids names and other errors really do bug me more than I'd like to admit.
As for the rate of releases, it's really something that Viz can struggle to put out 3 volumes of the series in a 12 month year, yet release the same amount monthly for Naruto, as they've currently been doing. I know they're in completely different leagues when it comes to popularity Stateside, but still…
And Georgioman? Am I right in assuming that's Jiijoman of Barrierfreeman?
-
It'd be better if they used the original names, but I don't see how using the 4Kids names really detracts from the overall experience.
Plus, they write down the original names anyway in their bios, from what I've seen, and we should just be getting the original names once they run out of 4Kids ones.
And yes, Viz is terrible when it comes to releasing anything that isn't named Naruto.
-
Yeah, "Georgioman" was a really shitty translation of "Jijoman." I'm a big Barrierfreeman fan so that really disappointed me.
I hope that once they get to the Ashuraman Reborn arc, they'll use names closer to the original… but I'm not getting my hopes too high. I'm not going to buy another volume until probably the Kevin/Mantaro match, probably (maybe I'll get one when the Ilioukhine fight comes around since he's probably my second favorite Nisei character, but I dunno).
I bought a Nisei tankoban a while back and made a thread about it, but it was apparent that no one cared.

It doesn't. It's just irritating.

That's quite a nasty translation/romanization. Like you, I just hope that they'll drift away from using these names and start to match the original when there is no 4kids material to lean back on, but I'm really not gonna count on it.
That, by the way, is the best picture ever. Also, just searched for your tankoban thread. Best quote?
"Barrierfree finally has enough of Jade being a dick." Volume 24 is the next one I need actually. I have the tankoban for volume 1-23 and 1-2 of the All Choujin Dai Shingeki.
-
WHen did they stop the edits.
I stopped buying after volume 6 due to edits and annoying names.(Stop sign guy's face killed me)
I want to read the choujin olympics arc, and maybe bone cold as well. Any idea where those start?
-

Bone Cold appears in Volume 11 and 12 and Choujin Olympics come after that like Volume 13 i think,Here are some picture from a bunch of Chapters
!
Wow Buffloman has the same japanese kanji as Kinnikuman!

Haha, yeah. Jade is actually one of my least favorite out of the main cast, probably the series in general. I have a handful of reasons-
-
His retarded design. I mean come on, a bike helmet with a "J" on it? And that sleveless thing?
-
He's supposed to be this series' "Brocken Jr." and the heir to his style, which is pretty much a big insult to the unspeakably awesome Brocken Jr. Jade can't even come close.
-
He's a crybaby pussy.
-
He's a severely forced character. They try too hard too make him cool… but that does make it funnier when he loses.
-
He's pretty much just prettyboy fodder for the small number of females who read this damn series.
-
If Brocken Jr. were dead he'd be rolling in his grave
-
Brocken Jr.
So yeah, I was really glad when Barrierfree made him eat dirt.
I got my 24 tankoban from Kinokuniya.
-
-
A very valid list, though I think you forgot:
- Brocken Jr.
I gotta admit, Brocken > Jade in oh so many ways. I've always found Jade a bit forced in his attempts to be cool, too. However, a quick Google image search reveals that the ladies love a bit of Brocken Jr:
http://hushicho.captainn.net/brockenjr2.jpg
http://hushicho.captainn.net/brojrcg.jpgI feel so dirty.
WHen did they stop the edits.
I'm not 100%, but I believe they started to tone it down around volume 13/14 and completely stopped it at volume 16.
-
How bad were the edits before?(Don't remember any specific ones.)
but yea, I guess I'll buy 13 and up to read the olympics.

I don't read the Viz releases, but from what I've heard in the past they took out any jokes that are perverse and edit the art accordingly. You know, like whenever Mantaro gets a boner or whenever jubblies are shown. Nothing major, but still an annoyance.
I'm sure there are more though. Anyone care to help?
-
I'm pretty sure some of the blood was toned down. If there were other edits I can't remember them offhand.
And yeah, part of the reason I quit looking at AKIA was because a lot of the members worship Jade, and similarly worthless characters (Mantaro, Terry the Kid, Gazelleman (actually I think one of the members draws guro porn of him)), and most of them have a boner for the 4Kids localization and its "hilarious" names. The only good members were Idol Choujin Showtime, Drax, geniusbob, and Frobman. Oh, and jkaris was pretty cool too. It's nice to see a collection of Kinnikuman fans, but it's kind of depressing that that's the state it's in.
-
I only seen the dub but it is one of my favorites Im looking for the manga in America but they only have 2 volumes.
-
The first volume had Suguru getting a boner over a porn mag.
Don't remember any instanced where jubblies could have been shown(with a 99% male cast). So not really worried about that.
"Road Rages" sign annoyed me for some reason though. Especially when it rotated(Just had the S appear at 3 points looking insanely retarded.)
Still intend to buy choujin olympics though, since it's been toned down.
My biggest problem with Nisei though, is how the veterans were nothing compared to the FODDER villains at the beginning. Other than that, I like it.
-

intresting how its up to 16/17 in US series.(am I right?)
I plan to buy this series soon. Is it like the JP version or Way toned down and edited?

It seems to me that the thing about AKIA is that most of the visitors (bar the ones you mentioned) seem to be fans purely through the old M.U.S.C.L.E. toyline, and therefore have little to no knowledge of the original manga/anime. How anyone could find the 4kids localization hilarious, however, is beyond me.
And guro porn? You serious? That's pretty fucked up.

Ah, so you're right. Just checked my scans. Makes me wonder why they let that one go, but not later instances. The article on Wikipedia says that Viz's publication of volume 16 contained "multiple erections and a multitude of female breasts".

You are correct. It's pretty much like the Japanese edition, but with the main exception of edited names. Thankfully, all illustrative edits have been ceased as of volume 16, so at least it's making progress. =)

Yeah, AKIA (or what used to be AKIA) is mostly a site for toy collecting enthusiasts. The Kinnikuman section is probably one of the least active.
Maybe not porn, but the girl's DeviantArt (which I stumbled upon) said that she was a big fan of Guro, and one of her featured pics was of guro Gazelleman. So I wonder what else she might've drawn…
