Well, apparently the guy they got to replace Mako actually has studied his voice in the past because he was the one who dubbed all of Mako's Japanese roles into english (or so I heard). So it looks like the creators did their homework.

I've been a bit of an Avatar fan, myself, for a little while now, so I wa slooking forward to the new chapter since the comic con trailer. Ah watched it, and ah was very pleased. Now, before I say antyhing else, lemme get this out of the way…

The SD short was okay. More for the kids, than Avatar's older fans.
As for the kiss, this episode did take place after a 2 week timeskip, so they probably started dating during that time. It'll probably be elaborated on later. And yes, Mato's replacement was "dead-freakin'-on", though obviously an impersination. Still a fantastic one, though. Really makes Iroh's change of voice far less akward and jarring than it could've been.

Guess i'm with the animation insider review. It was a bit chaotic at times and awkward scenes like katara with her dad or Aangs visions should have been left out completely. Nonetheless, the main story seems to be moving in a good direction (Go Azula \o/ Zuko got screwed again already^^) and the animation was great of course.
btw, happy mai is cute. i hope she joins the strawhats :p

I know! The change in her voice during the crying scene really caught me by surprise.
I believe it's still Mae Whitman doing her voice.

The season premier wasn't too bad….but yeah, definately not as strong as it could've been. If this had been an hour long it might've worked, there was just so much going on and so much that had to be explained, it all couldn't fit in a half hour.
And a little more melodramatic than usual. But considering how much they had to explain and set up in this episode, I think it can be forgiven.
I agree about Kitara's VA also, that scene bugged me a little, but the acting on her part kept me from going "wtf!"
The trailers look great, the fire nation kids seem so… controled, it's so sad.
Prety nice detail that Aang took Kuzon's name while he is there, if Bumi is still alive what are the odds that Kuzon is as well? Lotus society member? Random fire nation information put together.
For a moment there I thougth that the girl in the veil was airbending... then I realized that Aang was below the pier, she looks like Katara, is she she?

DiMartino said that he and Konietzko love "serious and dramatic stories and believe you can do that without shocking violence." For example, the episode "Lake Laogai" deals with the nefarious Long Feng, who brainwashes Jet and eventually kills him—not the usual stuff of children's shows

I wonder if Iroh is going to even have any lines for this season? From the preview, I actually thought this episode would be filler, but it actually had alot of relevance to the plot. The parts with Sokka taking his disguise too seriously were pretty funny, too.
Sokka was great in this episode"Those are enemy birds" Sokka looks great with a beard XD
For all the things to love about this episode, I think the single best thing was the fact that Ozai's picture is plastered everywhere at the school. After making such a big deal about not showing his face for the first two seasons, they not only showed what he looked like right out of the gate (which also let us all but confirm the Fire Lord puppet was Sozin), but are actually making jokes about said reveal.
Loved this one, I'm looking forward to sseing more of that assasin Zuko hired at the end of the ep.

Great episode though :D Good to see the writers still have their awesome sense of humour, and even though it was mainly filler (imo) it still wasn't boring and had enough plot to be fulfilling.

I dunno, seems like with Avatar nothign is ever really filler. Alot of season one seemed like filler, but it's all connected together.

First time I saw season one I was like "WTF???" It seemed all worthless and had nothing to do with the plot. Now I see I was wrong.

I wouldn't say Tales of Ba Sing Se was filler. Each tale fleshed out the characters, not to mention that Momo's story was basically a major tie-in to the Appa backstory.
To be frank, I don't consider The Great Divide filler either. This episode actually showed what was the essence of the Avatar. Aang bringing the two tribes together will certainly be echoed at the end of this season when it will once more come to him to bring peace to the three nations (maybe even four, who knows?).
In all fairness I think one of Avatar's greatest strengths is that it can have a whole episode in which seemingly nothing of great significance to the overall story happened, yet you don't feel cheated of anything like you do with anime filler, and I have never failed to be entertained by an episode of Avatar.

That episode was just to promote the Kataang pairing, and to punch in the face any other fan pairing…but the best "fanpairing slap" is for the Zutara fans in the last episode of season 2(I can´t remember the name now)

I'm eagerly anticipating this new assassin character Zuko's gotten a hold of. It's nice to see someone in their physical prime as a threat where the majority of the powerful characters are either staggeringly old men or prepubescent children and teens.

I thought that episode was funny, what with the singing hippies and Sokka doing the forehead palm so much that it left a red mark.
And Katara was great in tonight's episode. Though the ending was kind of unexpected.
For once I'd like to see people doing the logical thing instead of the "right" thing. Even if they drive off the Fire Nation once, they'll probably just end up building another factory later.
Liked the crazy guy with the personality disorder. Can't wait to see more of this assasin (I thought he was Ozai when I saw him in the poster.)

I expect that this latest installment will be widely called a filler episode as well, despite the fact that it fits the overall theme of the Book so far: the vast majority of the people in the Fire Nation are not really bad people, but have suffered from the war in entirely different ways than the other nations. It's damaged their culture, their environment, and their children. Defeating Ozai is merely the first step towards the much, much harder task of fixing the problems that the last century has created.
Complicating things since 2009.

Also, I gotta say, I like the characters' new looks alot better, now. Katara in particular looks alot cooler in her Fire Nation look (pun not intended…). Toph seems to be thrown in the background alot so far, though. And hell, I don't even like her all that much, but it's hard not to notice. She's mostly just doing one-liners every so often, now.
Though I will say season 3 has been a damn blast. Between all the story, and fun little side-stuff (teaching Fire Nation kids to cut lose, helping a poisoned town, etc.), the guys at Avatar are on the ball this time around! Hell, they managed to make a kickass dance scene (the Katara-Aang scene from episode 302), and I usually hate dance scenes…!
