I, for one, like the fact that FUNi is making the episode titles as close as the original Japanese as they can without making them sound way too confusing. In other words, I like the sound of this episode title.

EDIT: As for notes, yeah I wish I could add stuff like that in. I was even thinking that like a pop-up video type of thing or that at least a subtitle track for notes would be neat, but I don't think that'll fly with the higher ups. I also don't think there'd be time to do them either, with all 8000 shows FUNi's been getting :P But maybe I'll ask anyway, it'd be neat if like we started from ep. 1 and then we got to add in stuff like that in from the very beginning.
I prefer my translation notes in booklet form (which would really be the easiest way to do it too). The more "stuff" that comes with my DVD, the more likely I am to buy it (OP I'm already dead set on buying, but this applies to other series and probably other fans as well). Funi's pretty good with extras on the DVDs, but a sizeable booklet included with the set that has maybe interviews, eps synopses, and especially translation notes is always a big plus.
I had a friend who bought the Azumanga Daioh discs as they came out, so when I borrowed the series I read through all the translation notes (that "Blue Three" joke is hilarious when you know what's going on). I was very disappointed when I found out the thinpak set didn't come any notes at all. Granted, One Piece is not a series that really requires notes as much as Azumanga Daioh, but they're still always neat to read through.
Just to clarify, I'm not referring to keeping fansubs instead of buying DVDs (I would definitely buy the discs if I feel the series is worth having), but when I need that extra push between buying the set now and waiting indefinitely till it goes on sale or there's nothing more interesting to buy, that kind of thing can make a big difference.

Besides, don't they send you a copy of the JPN raw or something to help with the subtitling process? I'm sure Mr. Simmons mentioned somethng like that during an interview on a podcast. Oh well.

Arighty then, the new episode titles certainly get my stamp of approval. Some of these ideas for translation notes sound rather interesting, actually. I'm not sure what the process was for the "behind the kanji" extras on the YYH DVDs, but that sounds like the most feasable thing to do. The booklet, not so sure about unless they also wanted to add things like character sketches and what not. That'd be kinda cool. I also agree on some of those things working better for the early episodes, since they can market it in a better way by making it as different from the edited DVDs as possible.

It IS confirmed that FUNimation is gonna DUB ALL SONGS. Was confirmed a long time ago. Only thing that isn't confirmed is rather the TV broadcast will keep the ending, which it probably wont (least, not in it's full). But they will be in the DVD.

Toonami/Adult Swim have been doing sped up endings/different endings/no endings at all for quite a while. I remember when Adult Swim let the Real Folk Blues ending play in full, but then they sped up the credits and not the song. One thing I remember that really grinded my gears is when endings would be interrupted with an announcer saying something like 'KEEP ON WATCHING BECAUSE [insert show here] IS NEXT!
Hopefully Funi will at least give us a small part of the ending so we can at least hear it.

They jumped way ahead right before Cell absorbs 18. I wouldn't call it a hint, but it is kind of odd that they brought it back all of the sudden. Wish they would of started from Episode 1 with the uncut dub they showed a year or so ago.

I would think they started the Cell saga because in the past 3-5 years,it was the only saga they didnt show!(Which I hated this because they always got to the end of the Garlic Jr Saga and stopped)This is actually my first time seeing the Cell saga!One Piece and DBZ are lumped together..which might mean that CN is aware of something between the two or are planning something in the future!(maybe like the One Piece DBZ crossover)

Cell saga was aired waaaay back in 2000. Believe me when I say Cartoon Network ran every single episode of DB/Z/GT. I watched all of them (well, I'd say I've missed around maybe 3 or so, but meh)
Plus DBZ has been airing in this slot for a good 2 months now, and before that a good 4 months or so before cutting it off for awhile and moving it. So I sincerely doubt that CN is doing this just for One Piece. DB simply gets them ratings. Everyone loves some DBZ…
But that's getting off topic. In any case, I watched through Naruto, One Piece and a bit through DBZ and no One Piece promo. Don't get your hopes up. However, if they were to air anything about the new season, it would be during the last 4Kids episode next week. Again, don't get your hopes up though.

No, he's right; the past 3-5 years, the Cell Saga wasn't aired. And 2000 was almost eight years ago.
I kind of like that line up thought. Get some Naruto, get some One Piece, and end your night with a good old episode of Dragonball Z. While I'm not that into Naruto, something like this is a treat.
And when this manga closes out, and Luffy's arm stretches back to deliver that last punch, I wanna feel the crunch of the dream coming true.

Oh, he meant in the last 3-5 years. Didn't notice that. That is indeed true. Though, after GT went off, I didn't bother watching any DB reruns for a long time (up until about last year actually)
And I'm not doubting a promo, but promos haven't been done in awhile in the first place, so why would they spring one on One Piece? Meh.

A few years ago, when they aired Toonami 5 days a week it would of been perfect to air DBZ again, but now since they air only once as week its nearly impossible to air the whole series unless they wanted to keep it on for the whole year. Honestly, if anyone wants to watch DBZ again I would suggest buying the $30 box sets that are selling from Funi right now, other than that I think DBZ is pretty much finished on TV.
Back on topic though, was there no preview commercial for the new dub? You would think they would advertise it more. :sad:

Yeah. I remember the Cell Games saga only being aired once throughout DBZ's long showings. I always wondered if they'd ever air it again..and they finally are it seems. Then again, they could stop right before Cell Games. But I doubt it.
