Just to return to the uk vs usa version talk
The contents of the book are exactly the same the only three differences are the publisher, the price and the utterly crap paper its printed on

Lobster, if you don't like the covers, don't buy the American Volumes. Tho only thing that really bothers me is the extra "One Piece" above the logo where the Japanese kana was (they should have just removed it and completed the line), and the volume number overlapping the cover art.
But that isn't gonna stop me from buying the volumes.
I believe they explained why they did that.
I like the gold on the covers, it helps it stand out on the bookstore shelvesa nd makes it seem more important.
The Book number barely scratching the surface is inconsequential to me. The only real gripe I have is that it looks as if the images are a little darker from the Japanese version, but it still won't stop me from buying the US editions.
Did they ever fix thew 300,000,000 Beli error in vol 14? I've been holding off on buying that one cuz of it.

I dont think they did One of my friends said "Thats wrong Luffy's Bounty is 20 million berri." Major face palm.

Maybe he has an old volume.
I doubt it When did luffy ever have a 20 million bounty viz never made a mistake about the bounty until Volume 14.
@Lobster:
. Like the little garden one. 1/8th of Vivi's leg is cut off on the cover
Not that, anything but that. I'm done with Viz's One Piece!
Heeeey. As a fellow artist (well, aspiring), I hate to see something so amazing reduced to a mear pudding puddle of its former self.
The difference is so small only an idiot like you would notice.
I don't get the big deal with people bitching about the manga like it's done by 4kids or something.
How did you know it was dub by 4crap it was something kept secret.

Aww come on. You have to admit that that in itself is a big deal~
:O

Not to normal people it's not.
so is the cover the same?
Not quite, the UK One Piece suffers from a few cost cutting changes even though it’s technically more expensive than a import volume.
The cover lacks the gold effect and is just plain brown/gold, they could have taken some initiative here and changed the logo to match the Tankōbon colour schemes, only because not having it in a gold effect totally defeats the point of having it that colour in the first place.

I do?
I'm confused. I went to my bookstore today because I forgot something for school. I glanced over in the manga section. And One Piece volume 16 was there… Sadly I didn't have the money for it, since I only brought the 5 bucks I needed for the school book, but tomorrow I'm going back. Was this just a publishing glitch or what? My eyes didn't fail me, because there were 3 copies of it, and I saw on teh front Dr. Hiriluk waving the flag with Chopper and Luffy...
Son of a gun!
I saw YGO volume 37 out yesterday, too! And it shouldn't come out until October! Funny, number sixteen of OP should come out in November!
Yugioh Volume 37?
Yugioh Volume 37?
I think he's referring to Yu-Gi-Oh: Millennium World vol. 5 (or whatever the most recent release is) which is basically the last story arc of Yu-Gi-Oh.
Viz divided the main Yu-Gi-Oh manga into three separate series, the first seven volumes are one, Duelist Kingdom and Battle City (8-31) are another, Yu-Gi-Oh: Duelist, and Millennium World are the last few volumes.
Oh, I see.
Well, if its on the way, other people should see if OP volume 16 is at your bookstore. I'm going to pick up my copy right after school.
I didn't see it at my local B&N but on POJO a user managed to get YGO volume thirty, which comes out next month.
Also, YGO volume 37 is 'MW volume 6' in America.
I didn't see volume 16 at the local Chapters, but I forgot to try searching with the computers.
I did, however, pick up a copy of Shaman King 13, and I have a question: What was the dub name of the Mexican shaman on Hao's team? I think his Japanese name was Peyote, and his name in this volume was Tecolote (Which, I must admit, is a pretty cool name). Was that the dub name? I can barely remember the anime.
In the dub he was 'Ramiro'.

I'm still wigging ou over censored Chocolove.

Yeah, I experienced something like that too. Back in August, I found OP volume 15. Which is particularly odd because I live on the other side of the world, so how on earth an import-store managed to get the US-version of the volume a month before it's actual release is beyond me… They must have shipped them REALLY early...
Seems like Vol. 15 failed to show up in the top 10 for last month. Here's Vol. 14 rank back in April.

That's almost sad.
I'm definitely checking for Vol. 16 this week though. I don't want to miss that if it's true.

It actually did pretty good back in January ranking in at number four.
Thought I'd add I picked up my copy of volume 16. That was a pretty nice find. Geez, if I got the copy THIS early, I wonder how long they have the trans before publication.
Are you serious? Aww now I really want it. Is there any thing of interest in there? Also, what store was it?
YAY!
Wapol Vs Luffy has started in SJ!:)
also.. I read the last volume(which had naruto or Yugi on it,the one before the DBZ current cover) and saw some japanese word.. meaning deer or reindeer( it was when the Doctor names Chopper.)
I went to my Wal-Mart today. No October issue. ¬_¬
There were just 4 or so copies of Septembers.
Wow, already, Moria? Get out!
SO, the next volume comes out in…March?
Hopefully tomorrow, I'm going to go to Waldens to check for 16. Thanks for the tip-off, Moria.

It's unfortunate, but the tankobon are so close to catching up to the English Manga they have to put some space inbetween. I think the American One Piece sales have improved drastically, as the volumes are usually pushing into the top Ten. They're better then Shaman King's anyway. There needs to be a miracle to improve Shaman King now. It said Shaman King graduated from Shonen Jump. More like it failed Shonen Jump.
Oh ye, I went to my local Borders bookstore, which i think owns Walden Book stores so you can probably use that. I went to barnes and nobles and they didn't have it, so I'm assuming it was a publishing glitch for Borders.
Well, I didn't see any at Waldenbooks…
I did get the volume almost a week ago, so it could be sold out, or it might just be for my area. Sorry to hear that you couldn't find a copy.
i dont think its a shipping error, they are probably meant to get the books some time in advance. Presumably the bookstores are meant to put them up for sale at a precise date, but someone at the bookstore messed up and put them out on the shelves ahead of time…

Huh?

I think you're confusing One Piece with Bleach. Besides Shaman King is getting a faster release so it's a whole lot better off being taken out of the magazine.
"catching up to the english manga"?
i dont get it.
Run, a paradox is happening. Or he mis-typed his post… I'm gonna go with the paradox tho.
Besides Shaman King is getting a faster release so it's a whole lot better off being taken out of the magazine.
It seems like that at first…but the volume's are 5 whole months apart (dunno why...) so SJ could've got the same amount of chapters in that amount of time.
It's probably not new but I just checked the back of the current Naruto volumes and on the very last page where you can subscribe to shounen jump they have a picture of Post-Jump Naruto on there.
Wow they really are trying to market the time jump even before it's taken place. Not to mention that in March it says that Naruto will be getting a bi-monthly release
My Wal-Mart is still just selling the DBZ Jump..and they got plenty of them.
Just finished reading the rest of Chopper's backstory.
Viz actually did a very notable job on it. Hopefully, One Piece will be adapted like this from now on.
Heh maybe they won't call Enel the Sky Lord once they reach Skypiea what with the new dub.
I have a feeling they might do due to religious censorship and frankly I can't blame them for doing so. Assuming of course they actually give the series a chance to get that far.
So naruto is getting taken out of mag for a bi-monthly release? Jesus, thats there money maker, how in the hell is the magazine going to sell?
Like so:
November Issue: No Naruto.
December Issue: Original Naruto pilot.
January Issue: Four or five chapters from volume 28
February Issue and beyond: Repeat January.
March: Naruto Volume 28 comes out
May: Naruto Volume 29 comes out.
Etc.
