Crap. Completely forgot Tom and Yokozuna. Tom was easily my favorite Fishman, the fact most of other ones were fugly makes me not look forward to the Fishman arc like a lot of people seem to. Antoher guy I really liked was Braham, the guy who fought Zoro in Skypiea. The scene with him and Zoro having grog at the big party was awesome.
And no, I can't think of a design I hate. Although given how many random characters keep floating into my head whose designs are great, there might be one.

Moria, Franky, Brook, Buggy, Montblanc Norland, Crocodile, Robin, grown up Coby, monster Chopper, Dragon, Onigumo, Momonga and Doberman.
Those are probably my all time favorites, but I don't think I hate any One Piece characters design wise.

For me it's about as most of you. Franky, Moria etc. Franky and [surprisingly] Gonbe being the favs.
If it's a design I hate, I have to say Robin. Mostly because of cloths and tone. -
Pretty sure they are 3 of the vice admirals which headed the Buster Call at Enies Lobby. They were named in the Yellow data book.

I think the design i like the most is Usopp's, because he's fun to draw. He's got all these nice shapes, and adds the comicbook-look to the crew. Same goes for Franky.
Also, when i first saw Brooke, Absalom, Moria and all the other Thriller Bark guys, i really hated them, but now they have all grown onto me, and i think thats the sorta thing that happens with most of Oda's designs.
Oh yeah, i also like how Oda isn't afraid of using different bodyshapes.

This thread severely lacks love for the god Enel, and that ain't right….
Besides Enel easily taking the cake as the best OP design, I also must give respect to Buggy, Rob Lucci, and Blackbeard (captures the image of a ruthless pirate perfectly). I believe Gecko Moria's design was a brave move on Oda's part, and I overall love that design as well.

All time favourite would be Brook, he is too awesome not to love. I also really like Franky, his design is super! I'm really liking the Thriller Bark villains (even some of the zombies); best villains in a while IMO. Moria is definitely my fav villain, and Jigoro's design has also grown on me. I like Absalom's design, too but he was wasted like that. Enel and Blackbeard also deserve an honourable mention.
Personally I found Kuro and Mihawk boring, but maybe that's just me

Honestly, I think I love Zoro's design the most. I mean he's this nineteen year old walking around in geezer clothes. You can't get more cool than that! shot That and his facial expressions are to die for - his WTF looks always grab my attention.

I think you are all forgetting something. The animals!! There are a few great designs for animals like the Lapins, the Kung-fu seals from alabasta and the bananadiles ( or whatever their names were).

Well, thinking back I can only remember one design I loved the second I first saw it, and that would be Brook. I mean, as a concept, what could possibly be better than a eight-feet tall living skeleton with an afro?
As for others, well, I've noticed I tend to like ones with noses that are different from the "standard" shape (= Usopp, Banchina, Buggy,
Kureha etc.) or are plain odd in some other way (= Jango, Bon Kurei, Kokoro, Absalom etc.). -

My favorite designs are Mr. 3, Merry, Usopp, and Fukurou (actually, all the CP9 designs).......like the Op, I also favor Sanji's design slightly, Don Krieg, and Jango (Michael Jackson for teh win).
Nami towards the beginning, Nojiko, Robin and Belle-mere out of the females. And Kokoro
….As for designs I don't like, I'd say...Moria's. Brook's was perfectly designed to attract tons of insane fanboys and girls, so it obviously isn't that bad. And Water 7 / Enies Lobby Chopper. Also Mr. 7 (too weeird....) and Igaram (he scares me big-time for some reason). The Nyaban brothers' designs and Mohji aren't that weird.

I don't think so. They really had some cool and interesting look, specially the smoking-cigar admiral and that one with huge hat. Of course, their actions in the arc can't be compared with guys who are active all the time in the series.

Only one of them. And he probably has the most unique design otherwise. But yeah viking/roman elmet, crazy topknot mohawk and coneheaded mitre are all lazy, generic designs. Keep up the good work.

I can't really tell if you're being serious or not. Let's pretend that Brook is insanely popular, as you say. What would Oda have to go on to intentionally make a ''perfect design that would attract insane fanboys and girls''? He'd have to look at other characters that are extremely popular. Let's go by popular polls in the other two big shonen series.
In Bleach the top two are Ichigo and Hitsugaya. In Naruto the top two Sasuke and Kakashi. Let's break the list down and see what the similarities are between Brook and these four.

There were a couple of great designs on th Foxy crew, Big Pan comes to mind. The Blackbeard Pirates all had great designs as well.
