I've figured out what's happened here. Oz's name is spelt with the katakana "o" followed by a line which means the "o" sound is stretched and then a "zu". This makes "O-o-Z" but in English people would pronounce that ooze. So the closest thing is "Orz" but the people who translated it didn't like that because it's a japanese emoticon for bowing your head (it looks like a man).

Personally I think Oda-sensei meant for it to be Orz because of all the orz positions characters have been taking in this arc. Anyway that's the cause of the misunderstanding, it was probably a pun saying Perona's ghosts do orz instead of become a giant Orz.

Its another one of those weird Jojo weeks but hey, better to have the chapter now than waiting.

So much amazing stuff this week: Usopp standing up to Perona's Negative Ghosts, Odz gatling most of the General Zombies, Brooke and then Zoro standing up to Ryuuma (looks like he may have one of the legendary blades…at least we know what will be the new "third sword), Nami avoiding Absolom...and Sanji about to kick his butt! Dang I can't wait for a translation!

Yeah, I guess that's the most disappointing part of it. It's clear to anyone that reads my posts that I'm not a fan of Sanji and Zoro most of the time is just kind of meh. And the abundance of Sanji saving Nami speculative scenarios will be about as fun as Sanji being Nami's love shield discussions during Enies Lobby which kind of makes me want to avoid the next few chapter's discussions. But yeah. Needs more Moria. Go team!

I hope we get an Odz's Flashback, showing that he was nothing but an missunderstood monster or something like that, right before Moria kills him off or whatever he does to disobedient shadows. I mean, if Moria notices Luffy's actually too strong (Gears, anyone?), then he may think twice before keeping Odz around….

Who knows, I just know It will be sad when Odz returns Luffy's shadows. :(

It's a pretty good chapter overall… My favorite part is when Oz was gattling gun all of those zombies...

We still don't know the true power of Moria yet, and if it turns out he is super strong, we might see a luffy and Oz combination. MAYBE Oz will come and fight together with Luffy to defeat Moria. I'm just saying it's a possibilty... because since oz have luffy's personality... they might get along pretty well.

Well, nice chapter.

It's interesting to see how Brooke can take damage–he fell after getting stabed three times with a sword. He takes damage like a Bleach character, except is makes sense. Interesting.

Meanwhile, looks like the fights are set up. That's nice, but is Robin really fighting Cindry? Besides her odd fighting style, she also doesn't really seem like a villian.

What a great chapter. Things are sure moving fast and the ship is sailing out of the fog. This means Sanji, Zoro and Luffy must get their shadows back. I hope we don't have any wild and crazy last minute EDM

It was actually Odz that saved brooke's afro and possible nami's marital status by rocking the boat back and forth and upsetting everything.

No worries about the Zombie Generals though. The interesting ones were never depicted in the chapel or confronting Odz, so Captain John, the four armed gunslinger and even the long necked guy with the under bite could still make an entrance. The only GZ victims of Odz wrath that had received any special focus were the giant who came out of the ground and the knight who initially attacked franky right before luffy was captured.

Oh, and any one else think that Franky will patch Brooke back up with his shipwright skills? As long as Franky has a little wood glue in his tool kit, Brooke could still be up and fighting later in the arc.

Yeah, Oz could easily be spelled with katakana and make oh-zu, but not the way that it's spelled here. Oz as in, say, Wizard of Oz, wouldn't have an extended vowel. The 'o' sound is stretched here, my best Romanization would be "Orz", I don't know where the 'd' sound comes from…

It might be some sort of anchor. Or possibly the mouth gates surrounding Thriller Bark. Were the sails already unfurled? I can't remember. Perhaps it's for the sails?

Yes, he's literally rocking the boat – it's funny how he's also inadvertently helping his nakama (or at least his shadow's nakama). So far he hasn't done anything to hurt them, even though they've done a few stupid things to him...

We know from Franky's own past that he's a master of last-minute mechanical fixes to near-fatal injuries – his own body is his best example of that. So in a way, he's almost like a doctor for those who are beyond medical help. Brook would be a good candidate for that. I like the wood-glue idea -- simple and quick. We already have a cyborg on the crew.

I like this idea a lot. Almost like those old "taste tests" from the 1970s between Coke and Pepsi. Only in this case, it's not which beverage tastes better, but which beverage gives more power.

To me, it seems that he missed because of the rocking (since he seems to shout at the generals to do something about it afterwards) and the fact that he has his eyes closed…

Ryuuma's stance on the first page of the fight, with the raised hand and all, looks damn sweet. (European?) fencing FTW! His sword lokks cool too. I'll finally be able to tell apart Zoro's swords, in the future...

who knew the zombie generals would get decimated so quickly and easily, by Odz no less! i really ddin't see that one coming, although they haven't been salted, so it's probably not the end of 'em. odd name for the chapter, considering we didn't see Odz very much at all.

As always thanks so much for the raw. Just a few points I'd like to say. I for one am happy that Oz 1KOed many of the zombies. Someone had mentioned that the long necked general zombie was not there but I'm pretty sure he was in 460. Can someone check? I remember noticing that long neck. I hope that four arms and Captain John will have a point.

I will say this now. I've never been a true Usopp fan until last chapter and this one. This single action of being negative has totally reexcited me about that character.

I was thinking about Brook's damage. If you think about it, all he is is a skeleton right? So he probably won't have any internal organs. Therefore, the blows that Ryuma hit him with probably aren't "unlife" threatening. I mean think about it. However, notice the crack on Brook's face. That is damage right there. This is honestly an advantage to his combat style except that he must watch out for the afro.

Enough with the "Oh he lost the fight" He won't join the crew thing. Its getting tiring to read this page after page. Let Oda run his work and enjoy.

Regarding the comment someone made about Oz making the ship shake and make Abs miss kissing Nami therefore saving her marital status. Would her kiss really do anything? I remember Lola kept trying to make him stamp something with her to certify the marriage. I know in American Culture the kiss has more of an importance but I thought it was the stamp thing for Japanese culture. (Anyone?) (Although I will admit that was really really funny. )

Lastly, can someone clarify this for me? I can understand the strength (physically speaking) being very important for the zombie. I also understand that putting the shadow puts in the personality in the zombie. What I want to know is if the previous life's knowledge in full or even partial (more likely) is preserved. In other words, does Ryuma have knowledge of every duel he had while alive along with his knowledge of his swordsmanship and if so does he get to add that with Brooke's knowledge? (In other words 2 swords men). Cause up to now all we've seen him do is Brooke moves.

Oh yea you know what would be hilarious? Similar to how cola fuels Franky watch Brooke be fueled by milk thus justifying Mr T as being his voice in the dub. (You know calcium builds strong bones YOHOHOHO Skull joke!)

Well, on page 10 you see Brooke and Ryuma falling to the side because the boat heaves. On page 14 there is Absalom missing his kisses because his eyes or closed, then he sends teh entire GZ force out to stop whatever is interrupting his wedding. On the next page, there is Odz playing with the big chain and the boat leaning to starboard. It's related somehow, but the details will probably have to wait until the script comes out.

You're right that long neck was there, but so was Jigorou. If we didn't see him get pummeled this chapter, then he still has a chance of making an appearance later.

You know… you have a point there that no has recognized yet. Officially, Nami's married already. If they were already on "and you may kiss the bride," then they already exchanged vows, said I Do, and been blessed as husband and wife. Wow... nami's gonna be a divorcee after this. Poor absalom. He'll be paying alimony out his ears until the day he dies.

Oh and in regards to your question about the corpse having memories of their past life, that's a big No. Cindry didn't remember being an actress and Ryuma hasn't used any non-Brooke techniques so we can assume that a shadow zombie is more or less a blank slate memory-wise. However, ryuma should still have all of the muscle memory, twitch reflexes, and physical strength from his old life. It'll be a good fight.

Oh, and did anyone notice they are in Hogbacks lab? Maybe that one Mario he was working on will come into play. (with nami's shadow?)

Luffy might not fight Odz at all, then again Moria (with his motto) maybe willing to let Odz fight Luffy. Moria did mention he wanted to "play" with Odz for a while longer.

You can see Odz rocking the boat on page 15. The picture just below the one where he's pulling the chain shows the boat leaning to one side in the water, which is what proves (to some people like me) that he's rocking the boat by pulling the chain.

I agree about it being that Absalom misses because of the boat rocking, now that I've taken a closer look at the pics after others have mentioned it could be that instead of Absalom being embarassed, but it was my first impression of the pic that he was embarassed and couldn't bring himself to actually kiss her…

The artwork in this chapter was beautiful! And I like that Brooke is going to be taken somewhere else. It's going to be fun guessing what he's going to do this arc. I also love how expressive Oda has made Brooke despite the fact that he's a skeleton. His skull bends shape particularly around the eye holes. You gotta love Oda for that.
