Hey guys
! Why the hell didn't Locke shoot the phone?
It was stated that
! The smoke monster would not be explained until the season finale.
Also, for Senshi Mizaka,
! That other was Pryce. He was an a couple of episodes. That was just his first name.
All I've got to say is….
WHY CAN'T IT BE JANUARY ALREADY?!?!?! ; o ;
It was stated that
! The smoke monster would not be explained until the season finale.
But… that WAS the finale.
The last part of the flashback seriously weirded me out. I haven't been this confused since the last 2 episodes of Evangelion.
That was… the ending, that was grand. It literally cleared the table. Wow.
! Okey. It took me awhile to sort this out in my head. Was it Ben who was in the coffin? Or am I totally lost?
I almost cried when
! Alex was reunited with Danielle. It looks like they're already starting to bond. When she said "Let's tie him up together", it was hard not to smile.

! Naw, I think that was James who died. And I think the castaways made a deal with the ship guys, to get back to the real world, but they couldn't communicate with each other. I think Kate was afraid of the leader of the bad guys. How Jack's dad is alive, who knows.

! Wait, Christian's alive? I thought it was just Jack rambling. Dammit, what he said was too vague. Oh, right… the prescription was signed by Christian, wasn't it?
! Well, that aside, great heart-pounding episode. And seeing Sayid kill a man with only his legs was 10 feet of awesome.
! But seeing Mikhail survive a sonic blast, then a harpoon to the chest, then being that close to a grenade blast makes me think he's still alive.
! Yeah… I think he is. I believe he is the same as Richard. Maybe Tom is one of them too and survived Ford's anger.
! Jack said he wasn't a friend of this person tho. Nor family. If it was Sawyer indeed I'm quite sure that Jack would had said that he was a friend of him. At least Kate would had wanted to be in Sawyer's funeral, yet Kate was pretty disgusted by the idea of going into this person funeral. What I figured was that Kate got married with James. I don't remember why I thought so. About Jack's father… it probably wasn't meant to be taken like that. But instead it was like a well played bluff by writers. But we will see. Never the less the writers did a great job --- throughout the finale I was puzzled by where the heck this flashback fits in and bam! But yeah, they probably made a some kind of a deal with the "bad guys". I can't but to think that these "bad guys" are people of DHARMA.
But how could Dharma loose the location of the island in first place? I'm guessing these are the same guys that were in the Lost Experience videos, you know the one where the hidden reporter was recording a secret lecture on the Valenzeti Equation and it's deadly portent.
! I was like Who, What, Where throughout that entire Jack Flashback (or Forward as I later found out) and I only realised it was from the future after coming on here to clarify with you guys.
Oh that was so much awesome. I want more, I need more. I can't…wait!
! I literally screamed at the TV when Walt appeared, what is it that Locke has to do?! I didn't like Charlie through the show but in the last few episodes he really turned it around, shame he is dead (we assume) now.
! So what do you call it? Futureback? Flashforeward? Haha, I've had trouble explaining it to people….
! The whole "WHY DIDN'T LOCKE SHOOT JACK'S HAND!?" thing is getting to me.
! Shame about Tom. He, Mikhail, and Henry are the only Others that interest me. Henry is getting pretty awesome.
What makes season 4 so promising now is that we have no idea what kind of direction LOST will go in. It will continue streaking down awesome avenue or be the moment it jumped.
The season finale can put an end to the whole Purgatory theory that's been going on for awhile, that's for sure.
! The episode was actually taking place in the future with Jack flashing back to the island. Note how the episode opened in the "flashback" whereas nearly all episodes begin on the island and then flash back to before the crash.
! Here we start in the future sometime after the rescue and flashback to time on the island.
! This could be the direction they're gonna take in season 4, with all episodes set in the future flashing back to the island, it would be an interesting new twist. Trying to work out whats gonna happen on the island by bits of info from the future. We know kate and Jack survive and we know something bad happened that Jack considers a mistake.
! In the desmond episode at the start of season 3, des travelled back in time and could potentially change the future and not end up on the island. Maybe future jack can go back and change events to prevent whatever happens.
! One final thought i had was that Walt may not have been a vision, and is actually back on the island. When micheal and walt sailed away at the end of season 2, maybe they got caught by the "badguys" and now walt has managed to escape back to the island. Just a thought.
I think it could be Locke in the coffin. From what we've seen this season and last they clashed alot about views and beliefs.
When the Chief of Surgery was talking to Jack near the end about the car crash, Jack said that he could call his father and get him down there, and if he were drunker than his father was he could fire him. So yeah, he was definately alive.
^Well I don't think you can really confirm that cause he was drunk as well.
But this finale really got me. Are they gonna take it from the "flashforward" from then on out, or are they still gonna take it from the island. I have no clue as to what they're gonna do next. Strange thing is, I kinda had a sense that it would be from the future and not a flashback, but then I thought to myself, no it couldn't be. But LOST, as always, blows my fucking mind.

! Unlikely, Kate is with Sawyer, and there really isn't any other man she was with. Everyone else has a girl, except for Hurley which you know, would never happen. And at the end she says I have to go, he's gonna wonder where I am. But it's still possible it was Sawyer in that coffin.

! Actually, quite a few episodes have started with flashbacks. Such as the one where Hurley found the van or Ben's flashback episode.
! I figured that the flashforwards were to an alternate future where they got rescued, but now people are making me think about if that's what actually happened…
! I really do think disgruntled Locke wandering off into the forest was sorta lame. Why not shoot the phone? Or do SOMETHING.
I do think that was John Locke in the coffin, if you read the partial on that news clipping Wikipedia put together you'll see the name of the deceased starting with "Jo" meaning it could be John Locke.
LOLZ I guess the writer's didn't plan for this….

If you have seen the season 3 finale, there are no spoilers in there.

! Ok, thats true, but apart from the episode "dave" how many episodes have ended with a flashback. I think this is the 1st episode that starts and ends in a "flashback" which in my opinion securely sets it taking place in the future.
! I could be wrong, but it seems to make sense that a depressed future jack, who regrets leaving the island, would be thinking alot about the events that led to their rescue. A person cant flashfoward and it makes no sense, but a flashback from the perspective of someone in the future seems logical.
Um, when did LOST become a refuge for out of work Las Vegas actors?
James Caan = Jacob?
Can you say best 2 hours of television in history?
Yes, now you can.
I can't stop crying.
So that was just awesome in the most awesome way.
And, I'd take so long to name all the great stuff that happened but:
"Dude it was over, he surrendered"
"I didn't believe him"
…just, yeah!
Question though: Jack said to the doctor guy something like: "Get my father down here, and if he's drunker than me etc etc."
Jack's dad's dead right?
Yeh, of course. Jack was totally wacked out when uttered the remark, and the other Doc gave him a weird look like "Hell, he just didn't say that about his dead daddy, did he?" look. -_-l;
Ok question.
How are they gonna deal with:
A. Time passing
B. TLE
TLE supposedly happens in real time right? And at the pace LOST moves there won't be any conclusion to the story if Hanso Foundation is still in control in our time.
A question posed by me early in the thread.
Answer: This FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE finale.
I forgot about the scene when Tom was shot by Sawyer. That was so cool, especially when he said "That's for taking the boy off the raft." afterwards.
Why the hell can't Mihkial stay dead? I was almost sure Desmond killed him.
This just…..the brilliance of turning the show literally on its head is remarkable.
I mean think about it. It's a full reversal. We've now got the island being the flashback and the main events going on in (relatively speaking) real time.
Everything about this finale, in every way, was perfection. Every character except maybe Claire and Sun absolutely SHINED and the tying together of loose strands was just....ugh. I dunno how they came up with this. It's like 20th Century Boys times a million.
But Charlie's death was just heart-breaking. I was openly sobbing and everytime I rewatch it I can't help but pour tears. Despite his rocker status he was such a nobody, such a loser, and it was so painful to see him not only fulfill his 'destiny' and be a hero but for his last effort be one so selfless. What a remarkable character. I do question though, why couldn't he have just run the fuck out of the room and jumped into the pool and swam out with Des? Did he want to accept his fate? That's a mystery to me at this point and hopefully it won't be something left dangling.

Everytime they kept panning over Mikhail's body I knew he wasn't dead yet

I was under the impression that Charlie still believed Desmond's prediction and thought Claire and Aaron wouldn't get off the island unless he died.

Yeah, that's what I meant about his destiny. But if you had the chance….wouldn't you try? Hard to say. I'm hoping it will be along the lines that something useful is elsewhere in the station that they can use which he effectively saved.
Man, what a powerful POWERFUL episode.
January huh?
Man, I know we all post at the board but this thread is like a family. Sometimes a dysfunctional family but a family nonetheless. I'm really gonna miss discussing theories and sharing amazement, emotions over this fantastic show for the next 6 months.
Looking back at Charlie's death and the whole fate vs free will theme. It seems fitting that Charlie decided to fulfill his fate through his own free will to save the lives of Claire and Aaron. Nice touch in my eyes.
That's what makes it so painful to watch. Such a selfless act. I don't think any medium has ever made me openly sob. I mean I'm an emotional guy so I cry often during emotional scenes of series I'm attached to like OP, Desperate Housewives or LOST. But this was entirely different. My face was in my hands as I choked out, "No! No!"
Man do they know how to write a story.
I'm surprised that Desmond is still in LOST, I love the character (gotta be in my top 5) but he was only going to be at the start of season 2 and now he's a full blown cast member. When he said he was going down instead of Charlie in 'Greatest Hits' I thought, yeah perfect way to see him out but no! They double flipped and we got that awesome Charlie moment instead. I guess they need him for the Penny factor and to return the message that it isn't her boat.
But for all that we will have to wait 6 months! I just know there will be nothing worth watching in that time, Prison Break will finish its U.K. running within a couple of weeks. I guess I'll just have to watch Heroes when it comes to DVD in August.
I miss LOST already…
I'll miss Lost, too. At least in a few months we'll have the third season boxed set coming, so that should fill the void until January.
I'm really gonna miss discussing theories and sharing amazement, emotions over this fantastic show for the next 6 months.
We still can! >:
In the meantime, Henry fans should watch
episdoe of The Practice. Emerson is such a kickass actor! So creepy.@Bad-Beat:

Don't worry, you won't have to wait too long for new Heroes episodes, they start again on September 24th!
You know what the best part about the huge twist ending, and the wait for Season 4? Cuse and Lindelof have imposed a period of "radio silence" until next year comes around. No big interviews, no tantalizing teasers, no hints whatsoever that might give people an idea of what to expect. We're gonna be stewing in our own juices all year.
Cuse and Lindelof have imposed a period of "radio silence" until next year comes around.
REALLY?
I heard about the 'no podcasts' but I didn't know it was going that far.
Wow.
How are you dealing with the Spoilergate aftermath?
Well, with regard to season four, Carlton and I are going into complete and utter radio silence. I know a lot of people are going to be frustrated, but I think if things had gone a little differently in terms of the finale getting spoiled, we might have been a little more open to talking about it. But now we're all bitter. [Laughs.] No, honestly, the reason for the silence is we don’t want to tell the audience what to think about where the show is going to be next year. The way the finale concluded and what happens next is open to interpretation. I think it had a real imaginative quality to it that hopefully engaged the audience's imagination the way the show did when they first saw the pilot.

I totally agree with his final sentence in that statement. Compare this finale to that of Seasons 1 and 2, and you'll find those episodes both had major plot advancement and introduction of themes that would be crucial to the next season (the hatch, conflict with the Others) but this time we're left wondering not only WHAT they will tell us next, but HOW they will tell us. It's such a fascinating concept and such a strong and reassuring way to reclaim its place in TV culture, considering all the wailing and gnashing of teeth after the first "half" of Season 3 and shortly after the break… Basically everything up until the last 5-6 weeks of the season. This combined with the announcement of the definitive end to the series makes me optimistic that the series will see relatively smooth sailing from here on out.
And on the subject of that announcement, since I haven't been here to talk about it -- I'm a bit disappointed that it will take an extra year (since most signs pointed to 5 seasons worth) to get to the end, and less material in each year, but I feel confident that shorter seasons will make the plotting tighter, and most importantly of all it entirely removes the need for the writers to leave loose ends or ambiguities in the case that they might be forced to extend longer than they had planned. And hey, who can say no to an extra season finale?
Um, anyone catch the Cuse/Lindelof voice cameos in the 3x22?
Lindelof was the Pilot on the Oceanic flight & I'm fairly certain that was Cuse doing the report on the car crash on the bridge.
I'm wondering if they're still shopping the idea of a feature film to wrap up the story. Such an idea conjures up such fantastic images that it would almost be a sin to make it as it could never live up to expectations.
Time will tell I suppose.
Yes, I agree that it's not only what will happen, but also how.
The possibilties are vast and what's most enticing is that it may not be just one form of progression.
I'm really loving the bad-mouthers coming out of the wood-work now saying things like, "Lost has really come back.", when it never went anywhere except at its own pace. I see 'fans' already predicting that they don't need to catch what they missed because of skipping Seasons 2 and 3. Why? Because they honestly believe the mythos presented there will never be revisted and have been dropped/forgotten by the writers.
I swear there are only a handful of people that can see and appreciate the scope of Lost (basically anyone that bothered to check out Lostpedia). It's shit like Heroes that keeps people in the mindset that television has to be dumbed down to be decent. Masi Oka gets critical acclaim for throwing his hands up in the air and line-reading while people are worried about a shark getting explained instantly.
Ugh.
Bad part of Season 3, DS ring being an heirloom. Unplanned, unnecessary & awful.
Ugly part of Season 3, Paolo and Nikki. Yeah okay, in retrospect it was kinda cool. But it's just SO awkward sandwiched in there.
Good part of Season 3, snake in the mailbox baby.
Hot damn.
VERY intriguing theory I just read folks.
I'm gonna spoiler this because it sounds so good.
! What if the woman Jack saved was Juliet's sister? Her son Julian would be just about that age by now.
In perhaps one of his last interviews (before the inevitable Season 3 DVD release and month or two leading up to Season 4)
Carlton gave up some VERY interesting bits. These are not big enough to be considered spoilers, just interesting nuggets to think about.
**> The finale's twist, the flash forward, is something that you'd planned all along, from the very beginning. Oh, absolutely.
Rock the hell on.
**> The love triangle will eventually be resolved in an unambiguous manner. True.
Excellent.
**> Ben is a good father. True. [Laughs] These are just my opinions, by the way.
Interesting.******
It's also been confirmed that from now on season 4 (or 5 and 6, but not sure yet) will feature BOTH Flashbacks and Flash-Forwards.
Oh, the fun we'll have trying to figure out if it's one or the other.
The flashforwards are gonna be just great! I wonder what made them decide to suddenly do this? Something tells me that Locke won't be getting any since he probably won't be leaving the island.
There can still be flashforwards of the goings-on on the island, can't there?
