@Le:
It makes sense now. The scar that Peter will have, I mean.
Heh, that's true. Good job. Awesome episode that had me cursing at the dead since we have to wait until late April to see what happens.
! So the series of pictures that Issac paints near the end of the episode are foretelling his own death at the hands of Sylar?
! Big surprise that Peter and Nathan's mother has been directing the Haitian. That was pretty much the only the positive note in this episode, plus Hiro getting the sword and Ando deus ex machina-ing himself back into the picture. Everyone else is screwed in varying degrees…
! Mohinder is pretty much dead which I saw coming since Sylar has Charlie's memory ability so he had no need for him once he saw the list.
! So glad that Simoune is dead and the show didn't set some precedent that no character can die from gunshot wounds except directly at the brain.Man, that new girl is such a bitch. She's probably going to be around forever just to piss me off. Meh.
-
This would have been the best series to hear about at this time and then Marathon all 19 episodes
although the amount of win contained could make someone go quite insane
-
Kickass episode as always. Loved the effects when Candice used her powers, we need more wicked heroes like her and Ted.
So much going on at the ending, the waiting till 4/23 will be long.. -
umm yall canadian people? Do any of you know french and what was said between the haitian and claire's grandmother.
Claire will find out peter is her uncle and who her father is. This is great. April 23 is a long time to wait.
edit: Peter can heal his scar. Before, he never met Claire, so he wasnt able to heal himself. Now that he knows Claire, he wont have a scar in the future.
Save the cheerleader. Save the world. Peter can use her powers. Sylar can not. -
Man, that new girl is such a bitch. She's probably going to be around forever just to piss me off. Meh.
IMO she's one of those love to hate kind of people. I want more, but i also want to strangle her at the same time.
! well the battle is finally upon us. The writers probably just did that so that people will still be on the edge during the break.
! Just wondering, how many powers does Skylar have anyways? Sure, both are probably not gonna die, but if Peter absorbs too many of Skylar's powers…
! I also wonder if Claire wonders if Peter is her father. That's the expression i got from the scene. Who saw her grandmother as her protector?
! Nathan and Jessica/Nikki stories never really interested me, but Hiro's story is finally moving along again. I wonder what cryptic message is gonna be sent now that the world is still blowing up apparently. What will Hiro do to stop it?
! Finally Matt, i wonder if he'll be forced to work against his will at the job? so many questions, Heroes is awesome. -
@ultimateclima:
IMO she's one of those love to hate kind of people. I want more, but i also want to strangle her at the same time.
Nope, I just don't like her. She seems way too obvious in her bitchy manner to really fit in with the rest of the cast who are generally morally ambiguous in various degrees.
Anyways, here's Sylar's power list from what we know:
- Telekinesis
- Ice (it's been confirmed in the graphic novels)
- Superior memory abilitiy
- Molecular manipulation
- Super hearing
-
! So the series of pictures that Issac paints near the end of the episode are foretelling his own death at the hands of Sylar?
! Well, as with all of Isaac's paintings, they usually have some sort of twist to them. Like Peter "dying" or claire getting killed by Sylar at Homecoming.
edit: Peter can heal his scar. Before, he never met Claire, so he wasnt able to heal himself. Now that he knows Claire, he wont have a scar in the future.
Save the cheerleader. Save the world. Peter can use her powers. Sylar can not.Perhaps. But can he completely heal his brain being ripped unless it's another twist in Isaac's paintings?
And the biggest question to that is, would Peter have met Claire anyways even if Hiro didn't come to the past?
-
the guy in the paintings was clearly sprouting a beard
-
I'm sure Isaac drew himself, on one of those paintings there is an easel in the background and the face looks like Isaac's.
As for Sylar's powers, we know one more, his original power - intuitive aptitude.
-
I just thought of something. Remember how Peter used to have "visions"? I think those powers come from his mother. Think about it. She would know what's best or not best for the world. She'd know what's important and what lies ahead. Maybe that's why the Haitian trusts her.
-
peters visions were leftovers of his encounters with Issac
-
he had visions before he met issac though, like the car crash of nathan, or the fact that he saw himself flying in the first episode.
-
One of possibilities is that Peter has this visions/dreams from his mother, but I think that he got it from his father. The way how his father was described in the beginig of the series made me think that he had some ability. He was also working for (or with) Linderman, who has connections with people with powers, which might be another clue.
-
Or it was actually Mr. DeVoe (Simone's father) that Peter gained the visions from because of the importance of the building to the organisation, so if Mr. DeVoe was working with them he might have had a power.
-

I was also thinking about this possibility, but didn't his dream about Nathan happen before he met Simone's father?
-
He might have been caring for Simone's father for longer than the six months since Nathan's accident.

Hiro's latest blog post.
Notice from Yamagato Industries
In light of the tragic events that has happened on November 8th, we have decided to shut down this blog.
Yamagato Industries sends their deep condolences to those who lost their loved ones.
We would also like to acknowledge that Yamagato Industries is in no way associated with Hiro Nakamura.
Does this carry a deeper meaning?
EDIT: Just got it. It refers to Hiro getting arrested for Issac's death in episode 2.
-
I love that show, it gave me something to look forward to on Mondays.
But now that they arn't showing any new episodes until God knows when I'll probably just go back to being bored.
-
Okay. Just got done catching up and I've got to say, the mediocrity of this series on all fronts never ceases to amaze me.
I'm not attempting to start a hate-fest or anything, I'm just being critical so please don't take it personally if you're like the biggest Heroes fan ever.
The writing is a joke. Some of the lines you just…I could swear there are actual speech bubbles attached to their mouthes. There's a reason lines like that work in print, mostly because they sound good in our heads, but in reality, they usually don't make a lot of sense. And characters being cocky for no reason just to pull a 'Hey let's confuse the audience!' at the expense of doing something that would be completely stupid and even mean in reality.
Example: When the cheerleader's grandmother suddenly starts speaking French. HUH!!!??? Why would you even do that to the poor girl? What the hell did she have to do that for? Sure, maybe the audience goes, "Woah, what's going on?", but it's absurd.
Which brings me to the acting. Outside of Greg something-or-other that plays the mind reader and the guy with glasses, everyone in the series in somewhere between High School Drama Enthusiast and College Freshman Drama Minor. Their lines suck just as much as everyone elses' but they make them actually work. Greg is the one guy that's actually believable in his role and really connected with his character. And I'm not just saying that because of the name.
I won't even touch the stupidity of every time the show even bothers to mention something about Japan simply because I doubt there are many who care nor notice and Heroes is hardly the only show to do this. In short, it doesn't matter.
The so-called cliffhanger endings. I dunno folks. There was never an episode where I felt compelled to travel through time and snatch the next episode like I often do with OP. However, I think a good deal of this comes from me not giving a damn about the characters. If I actually cared about the whiny bitch who can absorb powers, I might be compelled to learn his fate, but as things stand, I much rather he die so we don't have to be subject to his Family Circus-like wanderings spreading Emo wherever he may go.
Now....of course we know this won't be the case and there's no need for worry or concern. Why? Because anyone that pays attention will remember that he's alive and well in the future and bears a scar which we probably just witnessed.
I love how the writers make violent changes in character actions that deny who they are/what they stand for. It's as if each and every character suffers from that same ability as the Hulk woman. The only thing more amazing than this is the infinite supply of money that they pull taxi, gas, bus and most importantly, airplane fare from.
Holy SHIT the main characters alone could support the airline industry for a year. Not to mention the convenience of timing. I mean, it's one thing to utilize that every once in a while, but these people get all the FUCK over the place like it's nothing. Some might say if they were restricted to a small area they could never make the story interesting. I disagree with that. A certain other series has been telling amazing stories within the confines of an island while using an Oda-like flashback formula to take us elsewhere. I realize that in a series about super heroes one should suspend their disbelief, but that should only apply to the characters' abilities, not how they get from point A to B. It's just wierd to see the glasses guy somewhere in middle America, then New York, then home.
And the plotholes...I'm not exactly Mr. Consistency. As stated above, obviously one needs to let go a little bit to enjoy this kid of show. But when shit important to the story just doesn't make sense???
Some examples.
When that explosive guy was in a room discussing stuff, there was a serious threat of them getting exposed to lethal levels of radiation just while he was sitting there.
Then later he's making little atomic charges in the palm of his hands while holding the cheerleader's family hostage and they're fine. Not to mention even when he was about to explode, everyone in the neighborhood is just fine. The hell?
Or how about recently? The Sylar fellow right? His powers were being stopped by an IV. Okay, which the Indian guy just happened to have along with the right medication and knowledge that it would work. Okay, I'll buy it because it's TV. But wait...when Sylar explains that he turned of the IV, he did so with his powers....his powers which were being supressed by said IV -_-;
Shit like that runs rampant through the series and it drives me nuts.
Okay, had to get that off my chest. Thank you.
-
I agree with most of your critism's (especially the nice little plot-holes) but I tend to ignore those for the show.
and I also don't like Peter at all…
-
Well this show makes alot more sense than 24 as of lately.
The airfare, most of the people who did all the "flying" where border-line rich anyway. I know people who fly twice a week because of business.
Claire (the cheerleader) grandmother talking french wasnt really a plot hole or a confusing moment. The guy she was talking to was Haitan and that is there language. I dont see how is that confusing, unless you just meant him working for her.
Most people know Peter is not going to die next episode. And I doubt the scar will be there thanks to Claire. In the future, he never saved her or met her.
Infinite supply of money for taxi? I guess you never visited new york, most people take the subway, bus or taxi.
You are right, the acting is not the greatest but its not horrible. The writing overall isnt bad, but alot of the lines are cheesy. That is why it had the comic book feel.
Give me some examples of the violent changes in some of the characters personality?
-
Mohinders for one
Peters for two
-
How did Mohinder drastically change? The only slight change in him was when he confronted Sylar. And that was anger and very reasonable.
Peter, I dont see it that much. He was always whiny and "emo". He just went from being passive to aggressive. Urgent situations make the passive more aggressive. Michael Corleone in the Godfather had a similiar change. He was very passive and became aggressive later.
edit: I do have one issue. If peter was the bomb, how would Hiro know him in the future? Unless, he can blow himself up and not die or unless he is not the bomb.
-
Well this show makes alot more sense than 24 as of lately.
ANYTHING makes more sense than that piece of shit.
The airfare, most of the people who did all the "flying" where border-line rich anyway. I know people who fly twice a week because of business.
Infinite supply of money for taxi? I guess you never visited new york, most people take the subway, bus or taxi.
Airfare is just one part of it. I'm talking about how they're instantly able to get tickets, pack, get to the airport, get checked in, take the flight, check out, transportation from airport to destination, transportation back to airport, check back in, fly back, check out, get transportation back home.
It's not that simple. And when you add it all up, yes, even the public transportation is expensive.
I happen to have lived in New Jersey and currently live in Japan, two places that scream 'public transportation'. Because of the fact that I've experienced such places is why I can attest to their expense and convenience (or rather lack thereof) When I see glasses man going from middle America to an apartment in Manhattan, then back to his wife at night. Yeah….something's not clicking.
Not worth debating that point. It's a simple plot error and shows they can't make for an interesting story without resorting to it. Again, if it happens from time to time it's no big deal. But it's almost every damn episode.
Claire (the cheerleader) grandmother talking french wasnt really a plot hole or a confusing moment. The guy she was talking to was Haitan and that is there language. I dont see how is that confusing, unless you just meant him working for her.
Yes it's designed to make the audience think, "Wait huh!? Why is she suddenly speaking French!!!??? WTF!!!!11111111"
Why would they do this when:
THEY BOTH SPEAK FLUENT ENGLISH
The whole scene just screams of trying WAY too hard.
"Well she wanted to say something about the girl without her knowing."
A. That's being mean as hell (see my above post)
B. It's unnecessaryMost people know Peter is not going to die next episode.
THANK YOU!! This proves my point above the cliffhangers being anything but.
Give me some examples of the violent changes in some of the characters personality?
Mr. Invisible out of nowhere goes from practically beating the shit out of him, to agreeing to help him for the sake of the world which is something he obviously didn't give two shits about. That had me in stitches.
Not to mention Hiro who was Mr. buddy-buddy suddenly listening to the words of some stranger that had a gun pointed to his face, wanting to send his Korean American friend back home.
-
Well you make some good points Greg, especially about the French talk.
There's something important about the cliffhanger with Peter though,
Mainly its just a market strategy to hype up the Peter/Skylar battle. I've heard so many people have been waiting for this at least at tv.com so having Peter with the bottomhand is to show that the battle is gonna be intense to keep people interested for the break. If you don't care about them, then i can see why you wouldn't care about the cliffhanger so much though. -
There's something important about the cliffhanger with Peter though,
Well, I may have mentioned that one, but not just that one. I think in all the episodes, the one where I was actually interested in seeing what happened next was after the one that had flashbacks with the glasses guy. That was actually an interesting episode and had a great ending.
-

Well, since the guy with the glasses works for a secret organization then they probably have some way of traveling or their own airplanes.
-
Well, since the guy with the glasses works for a secret organization then they probably have some way of traveling or their own airplanes.
Yes, but they still have to land somewhere and unless they have a teleporter person, the transportation issue just doesn't make sense. Again, not just the glasses guy. The power absorb guy is guilty too. Actually I think almost all of them are.
-

I think he is the only other one, the mind reader guy, the she hulk girl and her family basically all live with in a 8 hour drive from each.
The rest stay in new york, except for the healing girl.
the flying guy probably has all his trips planned.hiro and his friend travel by car or bus.
-
Well one thing, does mrs. petrelli even know that the haitan speaks english? That was a secret hidden from most people.
The cliff hanger from the last chapter was to hype up the brief fight. It should be good, since they are both "broken" characters.
Greg, with the characters, I see what you mean in a way, but its not really out of character at all. The invisible guy was freaked out that somebody could see him and he wanted to be a loner for reasons we later found out. He explained why he helped him, eventually. And it was explained why he left.
Hiro, I dont see how it is out of character as well. His friend almost died because of his missions and he got scared for him. He also was finding out that his friend was becoming a burden. I dont see how it is out of character. It wasnt irrational.
Peter and Natan are rich, they can afford airfare. It is cheaper and easier to take the bus, subway, and taxi than to have a car in New York. If you have a car, you have to pay for parking. And if you are lucky to park on the streets, you have to move your car every other day depending on the garbage schedule. IT is annoying. I hate new york. IT is a fun place to visit, but a crappy place to live. You pay a high price for a small room. Most New Yorkers take public transportation.
-
I don't really like the show, Its not horrible but its just not good in my opinion. It looks like one of the many other series with people who get super powers like X-men etc.
-

If she expected him to communicate with her granddaughter, knew enough about him and who he was to send him orders to protect her etc. Yes.

Sorry, don't buy it. No fault of your own of course but all the writers. We see no conflict with him whatsoever. Just repulsion and immediate acceptance. The show could use some humanity which is why I liked that glasses guy episode.
Hiro, I dont see how it is out of character as well. His friend almost died because of his missions and he got scared for him. He also was finding out that his friend was becoming a burden. I dont see how it is out of character. It wasnt irrational.
Aha, never said irrational. Out of character. Since when has Hiro EVER been discouraged because of what someone told him to do or not to do? The first half of the series thus far was spent on him telling others they couldn't tell him what to do. Then suddenly a ride in a car with some guy he doesn't know he can trust and he's Mr. Negative. Nope. Not buying it. If they're gonna pull that, okay, by all means do so. But in the span of a few hours he completely changes what he's been to that point? Naw.

You're still on price. I'm accepting that wealthy people can afford it. Not every character. And let's not forget the far more important aspect, logistics and time. Unless of course they're all mini-Hiro's.
Just no. Doesn't work. They fall back on it way too many times. Same for 24.

The guy was making sense and when he reflected on things, his friend held him back a few times. Also, a bullet was this close from going to Ando's brain, he wanted to protect his friend from this dangerous journey. Even the most optimistic man can be broken down. And plus sometimes hearing rationale from a stranger is more convincing than hearing it from somebody you know.
You have some good points but I dont think it takes away from the story.
-

You can make claims about the 'inner struggle' of Hiro, but we have no signs of it. I mean maybe if over the course of a few weeks we saw this growing progression, yes I can understand that. But again, this instantaneous change of character is just…ugh.
How can I put it? Far too 'convenient'.
Something like the latest episode of Prison Break for example. Michael made a choice that if we saw him make only within the span of that episode, would be TOTALLY unrealistic. He's far too bright to make a choice like that on a whim.
However....
This is a trait we've seen present in him since the beginning and with respect to a certain character it's only been growing since. The show has sprinkled little hints at it all along and thereby it comes off as realistic.
There's no hint of this in Heroes except for maybe glasses guy and psychic man. Everybody is just....well....for lack of a better term, 2-D.
-
Based on the NBC Heroes Interactive novels and the newer preview from the next ep I'm guessing that Linderman is actually the guy codenamed "Austin" that heals other things, unlike Claire who just heals herself.
-
Umm I just saw the commercial for next week episode….
! Linderman has a picture that Isaac drew of Nathan in the white house.
! Claire hugs her dad and embrace him. And she also hugs her REAL dad (Nathan).
Hiro from the future talks to hiro from the present.
! The indian guy tells peter's mom that Peter is dead. WTF?the trailer is right here: http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/video/video_display.shtml#mea=80720
Uhh yeah, that was unexpected.
-
The final 5 chapters?!! As in forever?!! Oh no… I loved this show.
Or do they just mean the season finale...
Also I really hope Linderman turns out to be good. He probably isn't, but he's pretty awesome

season finale, it got renewed for a second season I think back in March

The final 5 chapters?!! As in forever?!! Oh no… I loved this show.
Think of it like a manga, there are a certain amount of chapters in a volume, and Heroes is 5 chapters away from the end of Volume 1. That's how the creators are treating it like as well, because they are also mixing things up a bit for the 2nd volume as in new characters and less involved current characters.
-
Ah I see thanks.
And if we went by heroes as a manga it would be about 9 volumes since it has 18 episodes which equals about 4 chapters per epsiode. =P
-
! Yeah, so Peter actually does die? We see Nathan holding his body while his mom is crying. And we see Serush telling her that Peter died.
-
I hope the spoilers aren't true =/
-
hehe
! it seems Linderman has a green thumb going by one of the previews
-
Yeah he does, taleran. The graphic novels show this and how he met father Petrelli in the war.
