Oh yeah, Pearl…that was probably the most WTF one. There was also Kurobi and Genzo.

What future?

Don't scare me, DW. T_T
Yeah. This is no laughing matter DW T_T This is no place to be sarcastic or joke around.
-
One Piece, serious business.
-
What is going on with one piece since you guys called 4 kids entertainment recently?
-
-
Nothing @ flohoney. I'm waiting until they have their stupid 4th quarter sales figures out on ANN, and then I will try to call up Roz, because every time I try to call her I get the voice mail and I am getting a bit sick of that.
No point in asking Toei anything because they either can't tell me anything or are not well informed by their superiors.
I MIGHT call up that Andrea Gonzalez lady on Monday, but who knows. She is the international licensing manager or something to that effect (for Viz). I want her to tell me how we could get a voice in what DVD features, special boxset inserts, voice actors get assigned to their anime (like Death Note and One Piece, the only two animes I care about that Viz has and/or might have).
If I get anything positive I will post it up just like firecroach does with his con reports and what not, there is a higher probability of getting a negative answer, so why post that when it isn't useful.

Someone mentioned here in this thread before I joined here said Toeis site was under construction or something like that

Those aren't it; there not for the American subsidiary and they've been around for quite a while.
Anyway, good luck with the whole Wondercon thing.
-
So I take it you won't be able to attend Wondercon then firecroach? I was hoping you would be drilling Viz for answers even though we aren't 100% sure that One Piece is up for grabs.
Too bad Viz isn't situated in Texas…
-
I'm not planning to go to Wondercon, but gogoedward is and that's why he brought it up. By the way, although I have yet to give you my feedback on your thread idea have you gotten my other recent PMs? I have a feeling it's not working for me.
-
I haven't gotten a PM from you since (goes off to check):
Feb 11th.

Okay, I guess everything's cool.
-
Why do you ask? Did you plan on replying to the ideas, even though I haven't finished the thread just yet (simply because I haven't gotten a good enough response from Viz to make me want to get serious). I mean I could make a thread that involves input from everyone, but it wouldn't be worth anything if Viz didn't give a crap what a "measly" message board thought.
Like I said, I'll try to call that Viz VIP later on today (Monday) and see what is what on their abilities to collect fan input.
I was thinking that if I can contact that lady and get her e-mail straight from her so I can e-mail her a collection of my ideas on how we could participate with Viz more to make a better product, then that would be a lot more effective than me trying to explain my ideas on the phone (since I can put more thought into an e-mail than I can just trying to say something fast on the phone).

No, it's just that I've sent some PMs to someone else and they may not have gotten them. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem by asking someone else. Anyway, knowing Viz, I really, really, really doubt they'll want to discuss fan ideas, especially with a message board. That's what conventions are for. But I won't stop you.
-
Great, I forgot today was President's day, so why even bother wasting a call to 4Kids and/or Viz. Maybe tomorrow…
-
You guys should call toei animation and give them a suggestion why it is a good idea to pull away the one piece license from 4 kids since they can and tell them a good suggestion to give it to anoher anime company since toei animation want to continue releasing one piece in the US.

My theory has been from the beginning that Toei already did pull the license from 4kids. Almost every reference to One Piece has been torn from their site, except for the corny avatars and the Luffy on the 4kidsentertainment.com main page.
-
Well if 4 kids already pull away the one piece license from 4 kids since of some one piece removal things on 4 kids entertaimnment.com then call toei animation and give them a very good suggestion to give it to another anime company because they want to continue releasing one piece in the US.
-
if they want to release One Piece in the US, we don't have to tell them to give it to another company. That's common sense.
-
Then again, we don't know if the guy running Toei of America is related to Kahn in any way coughSlamDunkcough (well at least I don't know).
-
I need a straight answer if toei animation took away the one piece license from them or not.
-
I mean if they took away the one piece license away from 4 kids yet.
-
WE DON'T KNOW WE CAN ONLY ASSUME! god read the posts…
they're there for a reason. -
Besides, knowing 4kids I highly doubt that they would let any official information about said license being taken away from them leek out to the public. Provided, that is, that Toei took the license away in the first place.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks.. -
No professional company in their right mind would EVER reveal they lost a license early, and the licensor would NEVER reveal future plans for said license until plans are officially finalized. Any one who hasn't read them before should check out the replies from AnimeNewsNetwork.com. More questions than answers are given.
More info for contacting for FUNimation:
Physical Address: FUNimation Entertainment, Ltd.
6851 NE Loop 820 4th Floor
Fort Worth, TX 76180
(They have a couple of other addresses posted on their website but I think they're all in the same building.)Recently people from FUNimation have been making rounds on popular anime message boards like animenewsnetwork.com, animeondvd.com, and animenation.com, among others I'm sure. The most famous are FUNiRepBlue and FUNiRepRed, who also have their own MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/funirephq (who knows, one of them could be the rep. I talked to 'AX '06; I don't remember her name though).
There's also the FUNimation brand manager Lance. On the message boards he's known as Iheiskell, and even has his own Ask a FUNimation Rep thread at http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=123385.

According to this poster from Toonzone, at Mega Con 07, Funi states that they're…
"Keeping their eye on the One Piece situation, given that they were one of the first to bid for it way back then."…Could lead up to great things. Let's hope.
-
I just saw that, too. I want to know what exactly was said at that panel, not just about "One Piece", but mainly about "One Piece". I'm especially curious as to how that question came up, and I'd also like to hear about the dubbing process that rep. was talking about, since it apparently had a 4Kids slam. I might just contact one of the colored FUNiReps about this. I have a feeling, and I'm not bluffing, that one of them is the lady I talked to 'AX (FUNiRepBlue said she wears glasses, so did that person at Anime 2006). I'd just like to ask FUNimation that in the hypothetical situation they did get "One Piece" how they'd handle it, from marketing to broadcasting to DVD production to how exactly they'd adapt it, and what their stance is on how to best release the episodes, since that's been up for discussion for quite some time now on this forum

god i need to get off my ass and update my site with stuf flike this XD
hey does the background look too light this time?:
http://killthemongoose.satamsonic.com/onepiece/newsite/
i mean is the text readable? One last edit before I go to bed:
I think it was in this topic where someone said that Al Kahn just laughs at angry fan mail he gets from devoted anime fans… do you think he's laughing now? XD -
I like the re-vamped website a lot. I look forward to when you're finished.

Yes, Quexinos, you've really out done yourself. It looks great.
-
Cool your web looks great. I haven't been in this thread for a while so it may be long… First off, I think them 4kids wanna be's didn't get the money they wanted because they are to soft, they hardly ever say 'die' or any good insults well "Luffy you fool!" ok I guess. 4kids need to take a lesson from WB(even though I dissapinted with the junk that channel is spewing out lately, besides Spider Riders) those were some of the best and I'm sure I saw some gag-blood in some Bugs Bunny ep's, "Dot: Call me 'Dottie' and you die." that's too great! But they have shone some spine where other countries haven't (Pokemon ep' that wasn't aired in some parts of Europe, they thought it was to 'adult'.) Also I don't think they even have that license anymore not just because they stink but also...Tokyo Mew Mew('Power' ew, stupid 4kids) and Magical Doremi haven't aried in months, Mew Mew's case I think its been a year an the stuff is still on the website and I havn't heard of any other company taking them over, Shamen King too! I don't know much about that one I kinda lost intrest. This has nothing to do with my whole topic here but to whoever said they liked Zoro's American voice, notice how he says 'Onigiri' he says it almost right one time then kills it another, me and my friend wher watching him say it and my friend who is japanese and knows the language was all "Sure say it with your white accent." which we had a good laugh over. The odd thing is, my mom (who hates One Piece) and I had a long talk about this situation she has some good points that many of you have addressed and with the letter thing I believe that quantity and quality both matter you can’t have 100 letters coming in saying “uh, we want this and that, One Piece rules!” they’d just think we fans are idiots. Also it seems that at my school only me and one of my old friends have said they liked One Piece, while the other peeps seem to know quite a bit about it so I'm guessing that because of the dub there just wimps and don't want peeps to know they like it. My last thing I'm gonna say… if 4kids does keep One Piece well I'm all for it but they should think about how many little kids have seen rated 'R' movies and how if kids watch sissy stuff like that they'll end up as wimps and were would the world be? There destroying our future by those stupid wimp shows and they need to only work with the veiwers suggestions because we've seen what they've done by themselves. Ok there done till my next lame long post XD.
-
do you think he's laughing now?
Yes.
What does them not having OP change?
-
Yes.
What does them not having OP change?
It doesn't really change anything, but it's still pretty damn embarrasing. I mean if they really did lose the license then it was before the contractual expiration date, which was in 2009. And if that's the case, well, there must be a good reason behind that. I think we all have a good idea of what that reason may be. And if "One Piece" does get picked up by another company and manages to do much better than when 4Kids had it, well . . . you get the picture.
-
It's funny, because in recent days I've had people tell me how bad the One Piece anime is, and I ask them if they saw the English dub, to which most said, "I saw it on Cartoon Network". I then proceeded to tell them that that dub was so bad, and so incredibly unpopular because of how bad it was, that the license to distribute the show was seemingly stripped from the company who was bringing it over here. It's still a theory, but it is a popular one, and created by me.
-
I dunno . . . I have a feeling that 4Kids being stripped of "One Piece" is pretty recent. But we may never know.
-

Well, I first theorized this way back when 4kids announced they weren't going to be dubbing any more episodes, and told people calling for information to redirect their calls at Toei, suggesting that 4kids no longer is associated with One Piece.
After that, references to One Piece virtually vanished from any and all 4kids sites. Few remnants remain including the One Piece avatars at 4kids forums, the Luffy at the 4kidsentertainment.com homepage, and the Going Merry for the avatar background at the 4kids forums.
-
Yes.
What does them not having OP change?
they spent a lot of money on it only to have it totally fail. I think that might kinda piss them off XD
-
I don't think such businessmen really put that much personal thought into it. They tried something, it didn't gain them the profits they hoped for, they move on to something else. Honestly if you guys are looking for some kind of feeling of personal revenge from corporate heads, you're treading down the wrong path.
-
That's a good point. A lot of times things don't work out, it's just something businessmen have to deal with. I don't know how others feel, but I don't care about what 4Kids is thinking at this point. The only times I actually care are when they're putting their plans which I disagree with into action. I'm not interested in personal revenge, but I like to speculate.
-
I remember in last years end review Al Kahn said he was furious that the new properties they brought didn't do as well as they'd hoped though XD that's what I was thinking.
But you're probably right, they probably don't care. It's just fun to think of.
-
Okay, so a poster at Toonzone had this to say…
http://forums.toonzone.net/showpost.php?p=2441948&postcount=159
It states…
**""I went to the Chaotic booth at ComicCon and asked about One Piece. 4Kids no longer has the rights and apparently the license has now defaulted to either Viz or Bandai (there was some confusion). The people at the booth were actually pretty nice and felt bad that OP fans weren't getting uncuts already. They also didn't think 4Kids even owned the tapes of the original Japanese episodes, so either Al Kahn is a bigger xenophobe than we thought or a subbed version couldn't legally happen in the first place.
This upcoming con season is gonna be pretty interesting once everything clears up.""**
Boy, if this is true… Then-Then... Oh, man. Let's hope this is true.

Awesome news o.o
I'll go report this to K-F, pronto.
-
Wow. One Piece might be truly saved after all. I still expect a voice change to occur if the dub continues.
-
I read that news over at AnimeOnDVD and nearly crapped my pants.
If anything I think the license probably went to VIZ since they are distributing the dub on DVD for Toei already. Plus with the success of Naruto…
