I think it would be rather interesting if a person who is about to die, and eats a Devil Fruit, will come back to life (but only after becoming a skeleton). That would be interesting (and who knows what his powers is. And also, since he's one of the "undead", even if he drowns, he'll still stay alive, just like the ones in POTC)

My guess is that Brooke will join their crew for the time being and help them through the Triangle, and he'll probably want to stay with them, but as they leave the Florian Triangle area, his body will become an ordinary (but well-dressed), lifeless skeleton. Then they'll go back into the Triangle real quick where he is alive once more and then they'll have to part ways…..
That's my guess. :P

Now he needs a fighting style. Like, oh, say, his tea! His tea is deadly, and can kill those who drink it. He offers his enemies tea instead of fighting. And the tea is addictive to the already died.

The more I think about it, the more likely it is that Brook is going to be like Gaimon - a friend of the Mugiwaras that stays with them for awhile, but ultimately doesn't hang out for very long. My guess is that Oda just really likes Afros (Gaimon, Afro Luffy) and talking skeletons (remember, he loves The Nightmare Before Christmas), and just wanted to make a character for kicks.

I figured out a good fighting style for Brookes. He could use a violin which doubles as a bow, and musical-bows (the long stick you use to stroke violins) as arrows. He's a musical archer.
Or, he could El-Kabong his enemies.

I think people just want him to have a devil fruit power, vs being able to believe he's really undead. I mean we've had talking ships and angels in One Piece, undead characters aren't that big of a stretch.
And the Lafitte disguise thing was "possible" when people theorized that Brooke may have just been a skinny guy that "looked" like a skeleton. But after seeing pictures of his skinless hands and ribs, that no longer makes any sense.

I've love to create an elaborate theory that involves Brook and the triangle but honestly the past 10 or so chapters have been a rollercoaster, barring Franky joining and Usopp rejoining so I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the trip.

I see what you're saying: there's just hopes that Brook is a skeleton with Devil Fruit powers, no denying that he's indeed undead. That's a different story and would be cool! What I was worried about is people saying that he's a living skeleton because of a Devil Fruit. That would be annoying.
It looks like nihilism is pushing the whole "Brook is Lafitte" thing. He's not Lafitte! On many levels, that is just wrong and would ruin the arc. In my opinion, anyway. -
