I must resist the fanboy urges…I must resist....
Oh fuck it, I can't contain the hype that is building in my Urasawa-loving heart. This better be awesome.

I just saw this on my facebook feed. I'm all amped. I loved Monster. And I really like Guillermo's work.
This alone is enough to tempt me into getting HBO, this could be incredible if it's done well.
Cue all the hype.
A Monster HBO series directed by Guillermo del Toro! Sounds great!

I saw this comment "this anime was amazing, but i dont see it translating well to live actors."
What.
If there ever was a series that would translate well into live action from manga, this is it. What the hell is he talking about.
It's either this, Master Keaton, or Pineapple Army. OH LOOK they're all Urasawa works.
great news….
I would love to see 'Pluto' being made into TV Series/Movie too...

Yeah I dunno why he'd say that. Monster is a perfect pyschological serial killer murder mystery for tv. It has no super natural stuff to really deal with. The setting isn't even sci-fi or fantasy. This will probably be the only manga I think that can go to live action without a complete destruction to the story or characters. I'd be even more pleased if it has the same tone as Hanibal (tv) has currently.
Oh man my expectations are so high for this. Del Toro, HBO, Urasawa, and Stephen Thompson.
Also I agree with you guys that this series is suited perfectly for live action.
This sounds like an AWESOME idea. Too bad I don't have HBO. Hopefully there will be good-quality streams.
Monster was greatly influenced by American thriller dramas. It was basically translating it on graphic novel.
Now it's going to be an American thriller drama. Translated into live action from graphic novel.
…...... life has made a full circle.
I just hope del Toro doesn´t do a Cameron
Great news. I'm really looking forward to this. Monster is perfect suited for a live action adaption. Something like say Pluto on the other hand would've called for a big special effects budget to pull off.

What'd Cameron do that Del Toro shouldn't?

He talked about making a live action movie of Battle Angel Alita i think in 2008 or something, he already has the rights and so forth but then postponed it to 2017 or later because he decided to make the Avatar movies first. So, i am basically hoping that del Toro actually comes through instead of postponing it for his priority projects like the adaption of the H.P. Lovecraft novel, which is mentioned in the article, for example.
Monster is probably my all-time favourite manga, and the anime is great too. I want to give Grimmer a hug.
It was really hard for me not to react audibly to these news. I'm so friggin' excited~

Actually, it was a lot further back then that when James Cameron started talking about doing a Battle Angel Alita movie. It's more like1998 maybe even earlier. So, let's hope this doesn't go that way too.
Monster is amazing.
If this tv series comes to pass it will be the greatest entertainment on the planet.
I have just finished watching Monster.
This is by far the most interesting "whodunit" anime I ever seen, a true masterpiece seriously .
I ain't good at saying fancy words but let me be clear. This is anime is the best thing that can overcome you in your life.
I bet that anyone who have seen it can share the same opinion as me !
