I've always loved the creative characters and detail you put into all of your art.
Arting with R.F. Tigermode

Curse you, Tigermode. Because of your incredible work, I have to decide between voting for you, taboo, or Helens as best artist in the AP awards, and you've made it impossible to choose between the three!
May a diseased camel relieve itself on your lawn.
-
Tigermode is the obvios choise, rootbeer. ;)
anyways. wow, fansy smancy. 2 different light sources, ooooh. prettai!
-
Thanks for the wonderful comments, guys. It's enough to get the ol' inspirational juices flowing again (I would think).

I… I'm sorry? XD
-
that is one DAMN sexy dragon. Is that a T-rex skull in it's hand/claws?
-
It is indeed. Good eye!
-
I never saw the Dragon pic. Missed it.
It's pretty small, too small to make out the details. Do you think you can post a bigger version?
@R.F.:I… I'm sorry? XD
Carnac made me do it.
BTW, what's your avatar from? The poochie reminds me of RPGs for some reason.
-
Wow, why didn't I see this sooner? Everything in here is just simply amazing. Just so much detail and just enough realism to make it look incredible.
I'm especially liking the Ifrit and Dragon ones (I noticed the T-rex skull as well; lucky me Xp).Didn't know you were on FA as well, though (I have an account on both DA and FA and have barely put up anything on either one Xp ).
I guess this would technically be here, since I took the time to make this… Second Life, heard of it? Well, it's basically a virtual world where residents (your avatar) make a living for themselves. That said, I'm enjoying a life as an Arlong lookalike and aspire to build a 3D Arlong Park in SC world (you can do that sort of thing, you know).
And hey, if anyone happens to join up, be sure you tell 'em who referred you when/if you sign up (my username is Reynard Field).
I've been on for awhile (Myoti Lufbery). You plan to build Arlong Park there? Where, and how can I help? O.O
Actually, there's also a One Piece group in SL. One of the members even created a full-sized Going Merry. Unfortunately, I can't seem to locate it again or get in contact with the creator. D=
Viz is releasing the GNs for a lovely $7.95. Up to volume 14 is currently available. There's some editing done for the first four or five volumes (mainly just boobs and Kid's rampant boners), but I supposed they figured it would have meant more work than it was worth to go that route and have since kept everything intact.
Are they really? I didn't know they were still doing it. I've meaning to check out the manga for a long time now (loved the show as well).
And yay for Wally fanart! =D -
So… I've been looking through all your stuff lately, and felt that I should comment on the amazing job you've done with all your works. They're beautiful!
I particularly love how you can take characters out of the OP environment and adapt them so well to whatever situation you put them in.
I also love all the other works you've done. Your original characters are very original, and I love their unique designs. I'm also rather fond of that dragon you just did. So detailed, and the lighting is beautiful!
However, I feel the need to ask one quick question: Whatever happened to crackwhore Chuu?
I look forward to seeing even more of your art when it rolls around.
-
@ Pass the Rootbeer - A larger version can be found here. As for my avatar, he's the character Inu from Taiko Drum Master. His brother's name is John. XD
@ Myoti - I haven't been on SL since about August. I've pretty much stopped playing everything that requires a monthly fee. Blasted priorities… But as far as the UM gns, they're still going strong. Vol. 16 will be released next month. dance And yay for Wally fanart, indeed. The world needs more walrus love.
@ roamingwyoming - I bet you say that to all the girls. ;3
Crackwhore Chuu has been arrested for prostitution and drug possession. His bail is set at one helping of Gyojin passion, which I have yet to come up with. D:
-
Damn good sparkles, and without overdoing them, too.

Ah, but my dear, I am one of the girls.
Well, until the fishboys invade your mind, I still look forward to whatever else may crop up. :)

Indeed it goes. Man, I need to hunt down those volumes now. Xp
On SL, I take it you would mean in owning land, since the game itself costs nothing (still, building Arlong Park would have rocked). o.O

My human figure skills are so rusty… ;_;
-
Rusty?? :wassat: ph33rsome.
-
Dayumn! Not half bad…!
-
they're pretty good tigermode, but for you, I can see in the picture, you are a little unsure of yourself. The charicters arn't as free flowing, and look like they're aquard, compared to your usual drawings.
ha ha, don't worry. I'm kind of dreading getting the sketchbook next. I haven't drawn in years now. lol Your line quality shines through though. very nice.
-
Randi, you have the best buff-guy anatomy EVAR and that's the truth.
-
Damn but you draw muscles so well! Really love the thick and thin lines on that character sheet~
-
You guys flatter me. X3
-
I like the horizontally slitted irises. Nice touch!
-
OMG, I love how you block off the background into confined shapes! I'm gonna use that idea! (if I ever draw again) XD
-
Yeah, that's an old artistic trick.
I love that first one. Looks damn ferocious, and I like how he's shattering his background.
-
Wow, how did you do it? I'm not very savvy on vector coloring.
-
I painstakingly plotted points and created layers upon layers for each element (line work, midtones, bg, ect.) using Adobe Illustrator. I haven't decided if I like it enough to use again on my own time, but it's a nice change from using Photoshop all the time.
-
Another commision. Dragons are my kryptonite. D:
!
-
You did an awesome job on that Dragon R.F :)
-
Thanks. I'm glad you like it. :3
-
I like the dragon's wing musculature. I've never seen one where it goes on to the front before (I always drew wings as extensions of shoulder blades)… but it's good. Gives it a very "well-fastened" look.
-
Oh, damn. The Marvel look is really being silenced by the Japanese stuff in the world, eh? It's rare to see this again, and it really brings back memories. Just, the shading on the lower lip, the structure of the head, hell the structure of the body is just in top form.
Sometimes, I wish I could draw in that sort of style instead of Anime…
How did you learn to draw?
-
I've been drawing as long as I can remember, but even then I drew mainly characters from cartoons and video games. Actually, from 1996 up until the summer of 2001, I did nothing but draw in Toriyama's style and honestly set my sights on making it big in Japan. One day, though, I realized that I wasn't going to go to Japan and be a famous manga artist, and basically set about finding my own way of doing things. I improved a little on my own, but my skills really developed once I began attending school for it, which involves primarily drawing from direct observation and building technical skill. This has been the most helpful for me.
As far as human structure goes, if you understand what's going on under the skin, then you can draw as realistically or stylized as you please in accordance. If you're drawing from imagination, then it becomes even more important to know how the body works in order for it to be convincing. If you're interested, I can scan a few pages from a book or two of mine which can break it down for you.
Learning to draw, I think, is basically learning to see, and learning to understand what you see, if that makes sense. Constant practice over several years doesn't hurt, either. ;3
-
@R.F.:

I'd love that.
Because I can draw the typical Anime Shounen Bishounen Boy well, but if I ever plan to actually have a career in art, I'll have to have some diversity. Also, I've been straying from Japanese comics and reading some Marvel, and I really like Gambit. He is just so perfect.
-
I think this will be the best book for you. Andrew Loomis's "Fun with a Pencil…" has an in-depth guide on creating human faces and figures, and even includes various skull types and expressions. From about page 13 onward is the real meat of the book. 11 Megs.
-
Awesome, thanks, man. Keep up the good work.
-
Why do the animal athletes always end up being some of my best stuff? :/
-
You are a genius O.o
-
Eccentric, probably. Genius, not so much. XD
-
looks fun. I'm having troubles seeing what's going on with the dog's (dog right?) arms. maybe that's just cause I don't know martial arts or something?
-
I just felt like drawing a somewhat realistic lion. Emphasis on the somewhat.
-
Lion de done. I want the semester to be over. ;_;
EDIT: Lion de Second WIP
-
ahh, I love the second one even better! ^_^ your so my favorite artist on here, you know.
-
You've totally just made my day with that comment. :DD
-
Tuesday night is homework dump night, I suppose.
-
Not great, but I like it well enough.
-
@R.F.:
Not great, but I like it well enough.
I can tell that your a Kinnikuman Nisei fan besides having Gazalleman on your Avatar good drawing of Mantaro :)
-
Thanks. :3
Nothing new, but I thought this might be interesting. One of those art then-and-nows…
-
cool i don't remember the leapord warrior, but i like it. and ah, I remember that club scene OP pic. i didn't know you did that though.
-
My love for Digimon, let me show you it.
