One Piece Movie #6

That's not too far off. Just in time for my birthday. :D
Mine too! (well, maybe 2 or three days after…) but that's as good a present as any! :)

Sorry for the bump… but, honestly...

First impressions can be misleading.
This has got to be one of the greatest Anime films I've ever seen. It really signified the importance of every crew member and how much they rely on each other. Chopper fought to the very end, certain that his nakama would rescue him.
And what an ending! I hated seeing Luffy in such a state. I was cringing in my seat in horror as Luffy watched Zoro be eaten by Lily. That shit was scary. But not nearly as scary as…
That sent chills up my spine. I was amazed how the plot got so dark so fast. At first, it seemed like another enjoyable One Piece movie, but Hot DAMN that escalated into a race off the island really quickly.
It offered me a view of One Piece I've never seen before. A view of what it would be like if crew members actually died, and the impact it would have. Hell, I was freaking afraid to find the fate of crew members I never thought I'd care about.
It was realistic, and the style turned out to suit it quite well.
Sorry, dythim, but I'm gonna go with the majority vote, here. This movie fucking rocked.
-
I agree PZ. I actually found this movie to be much more emotionally gripping than ANYTHING in the manga. Odd
-
The only drawbacks was the translation and timing. God, I hope BalF doesn't visit these forums because I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that it's pretty bad.
Also, that side-plot with the father pirate wannabe trying to impress his kids was retarded. I really felt no emotion for them at all. They suddenly give this girl Mantra or some shit and then we have the guys daughter who's sole purpose was getting bitch slapped and showing off her breats.
Pssh.

Don't worry, Balf didn't actually translate it, they just put up the file, it's a Hong Kong bootleg, that's why it's so bad.
-
Hahah. Funnily enough, I was comparing it to HK Subs.
Hmmm…
"Your crew aren't dead" vs "I smelted the edge... on the goog".
-
Movie six's art was disgusting, but the animation contributed to the "chill factor" amplified by the already dark story sugar-coated as another "typical" OP movie.
Like "Blade of the Phantom Mask" it's one of my most favourite "psychological thriller" anime films. Ever. 'tis little wonder why I started applying the standard for movie six's writing to how I judge Oda's manga; Toei's movies were traditionally inferior to the manga and anime series, and out of the blue this pops up…man, what a surprise joy.
Reminded me of when I first saw Higurashi.
-
I thought that both movie 6's art and story were ridiculously well done. When I first started watching it, I was kinda like "Well what the hell is this? It's ugly." It really grew on me throughout the movie.
-
I loved this movie, It beats all the others (I have not seen 5 or 7) But the animation was ridiculously good and the writing SO dramatic, I got such chills watching it i almost forgot that i does not apply to the main storyline.
-
Movie 6 was subbed by HK?! How?! I actually understood them and followed it 100%! …..they really got better.
-
Buuhan: Because Movie 6, like all the movies, is a straight bee-line plot.
Zulen: BalF stopped subbing after they subbed the gap between where HK dvd rips from Hell-HK stopped and where Gerusama started. They agreed that Movie 6 wasn't worth their time to sub.
-
You seem to have a lot of hatred towards movie 6, does that mean even when you get to the episode point it airs you don't plan on having K-F sub it?
-
Still, I think that [K-F] would do I much better job with it.
Man… That won't be until... when?
-
Buuhan: I do, but that wasn't part of my post. BalF between themselves agreed that it wasn't worth their time to sub. And no.
Zulen: After 220.
-
Hold up… K-F subs fairly slow, right? 220 will take a while, I suppose.
I think I might just end up not getting Gerusama subs is general, because I don't have any of his work (Minus 236) and getting K-F.
-
K-F usually subs pretty fast, they just had a long period of time where they couldn't sub recently. If they're back on track now, it shouldn't take too long to get to 220.
Gerusama never subbed movie 6, they only subbed 219-258 I think.
-
Man, I'm surprised that the version of Movie 6 I saw was actually HK! Untill now, it had me convinced that it was just a really bad fansub effort. But the translation was good, by HK standards of course.
-
Still, there's a really emotional scene where the father slaps the daughter and she says "You wastrel!". And then he says "A wastrel is a wastrel."
Funniest shit I've ever heard.
And let's not forget…
Uh-huh… I think you mean "torn", Luffy.
-
I personally though this was the best out of the One Piece movies by far
it best captured the themes shown in the Manga / Anime and the animation rocked
-
dude i just watched most of it(I WAS AT WORK) , and i love it. they should make movie 8 like that. Then would thnk about watching the alabasta arc again
-
DUDE I JUST WATCHED IT
FUCKING AWESOMEST THING EVER
I'm not sure how much of Omatsuri's story I actually understood, though.
-
This is the plot that I extracted from the movie:
Baron's crew died in a storm, and he sold their souls to Lily Canation. However, Lily needed to be fed constant nutrients to keep them all alive. Therefore, to give Lily the strongest food, he wrote a fake advertisement urging strong pirates to come to the island. However, when the pirates arrived, he just fed them to Lily so his nakama would still be alive.
The first hint is the fact that everyone under Lily's spell has a leaf sprouting from their head. Baron does not have one.
The second hint is when the crew regains strength after the Mugiwara's are fed to Lily.
-
I figured as much, but what did Omatsuri's nakama mean when they said "the storm wasn't what killed us"? Or was that just the HK subs being HK subs? >_>;
-
I haven't watched it in a while so I don't remember but I think what they were saying was more like the storm didn't really kill them, their spirits are still alive.
-
I always thought it was just how they said "it wasn't your fault"
My favourite OP movie too, btw. I like that art style, and it had a good story.
The ending was kinda rushy, thought. I wanted to see them leave that island. -

That's pretty much the jist, but I would add the correction that Omatsuri didn't sell his crew's souls; he gave up his own body and soul to be the guardian of the Lily Carnation (hence why the monster had a flower on his body), and in return the plant reanimated his crew as shoots. The crew died and their bodies were most likely lost; the "crew" with the leaves on their heads were nothing more than sprouts that lacked the ability to encode long-term memories.
This story reminds me a lot of Shin Angyo Onshi.
I always thought it was just how they said "it wasn't your fault"
Agreed. It was Muchigoro's poetry for telling Omatsuri he shouldn't let his life waste away merely for the dead.
-
I always thought it was just how they said "it wasn't your fault"
Yes, this is correct.
(my favorite OP movie too…can't wait for decent subs)

@Private:
Uh-huh… I think you mean "torn", Luffy.
No, I think they got that one right. You just have to look a little closer.

Oh. Eh. Heh. I just got it.
-
So K-F ain't gonna sub it? Why? It's the best out of the 6 movies, and has the best animation one piece will ever get…
-
I loved it, I admit, I saw it on Youtube, but i think I like this movie alot, followed by movie 7 and 4.
IT was probably the Art and STory this time, I really liked how it was drawn, but it seems I am the only one. It actually made Usopp look cute. The story was one that made me cry, which is unusual for anything one piece related, (aside from robin's backstory). It just wasn't what the last few movies have been about, it wasn't an amazing treasure, a scared sword, A Race, Some King.. or Marriage. It was about his Friends, and dieing to protect them.
-
@Roz:
No, I think they got that one right. You just have to look a little closer.
…For a second, I thought you were pointing out how rn and m look identical and would be difficult for even primary language speakers to catch if said speakers were not paying attention.
Then, I noticed and laughed. XD
I declare this thread a win.

lol…Thanks, that was good.

Of course they're going to sub it. Someone just asked if they weren't going to sub it and dythim replied that yes they will, after episode 220.
Comprehension issues abound. -

AHAHAHAHA BEST THING EVER.

I actually thought of that possibility when I was doing that. There's a reason why I turned the opacity way down.
-
i just watch movie 6 of one piece (**Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island) its doesnt feel like one piece at all but over all i like it, its like a horror drama movie im watching.
the last part remind me of evangelion (lol) and the art is not like thge usual one that im used
THIS IS MY FAVORITE OP MOVIE EVA!!!**
-
This post is deleted!
-
Yes, yes
It is a great movie to anyone not stingy about the animation or the sense that they took time with a story.Anyone know if any good subs are out for the movie?
Cause I have a friend who wants to see it. He doesn't like One Piece, but what he has seen from me watching my DVD, he likes the animation a lot. So I want to show him the movie subbed before he graduates.
-
So when is K-F going to sub Movie 6 if I may ask.
-
K-F always subs the movies in the order they were released. Movie 6 came out after episode 223, so that's about when it'll come out from K-F.

Thanks for the info. So we'll have to wait for 223 then Movie 6 from K-F.
-
I didn't like this movie much… why since I didn't like the animation much or the character design. To me it didn't have a OP feel to it and I think it was just really too dark and crazy.... but that' s just my say to the movie since I like number 4 the best.
-
Number 4 was boring in my opinion, but it was beter than 1 and 3.
-
Christ on a cross this shit is hot! I've seen 11 minutes of it and those 11 minutes have been better than every moment of every film before (and I imagine after) it.
Why did they stop doing this kind of thing for the films????
And the blatant cultural and pop-culture jokes/references to Japan throughout are killer.
"Mutsugoro??" ^O^
OH MY GOD! ZORO HITTING THAT FISH WAS GREATER THAN ANYTHING HE'S EVER DONE IN THE ANIMATED SERIES
-
Yeh, Movie 6 is awesome. Very easily the best of all OP movies.
The visulas are stunning, and it's just a lot of fun. Although, it's in the last 20 minutes or so that the movie impresses the most. I'll just never forget how it felt the first time I watched it. -
You're just seeing it for the first time, Greg?
I wish they'd do another film with Mamorou Hosoda. Some people would have an aneurism though.
-
That was really, really, ridiculously good. I can't believe that was an OP movie. When I heard about the festival part of it I conjured up all these images of the typical bullshit from the movies but wow, what great ideas.
And for the first time in a OP film, a progression that doesn't suck BALLS. It felt like a real film, not some slip-shod stereotypical shonen adventure crap-fest like the rest.
And the animation, wow, brings back memories of Japanese animation from days gone by. Days when they weren't afraid to drastically change the appearance of characters for the big screen to give the audience something new and different.
Wow, awesome.
-
Heh I saw the movie recently also.
One of my favorite parts would have to be
Sanji: "Nami-San, Did you see my valiant kick?"
Or something to that affect, although it wasn't OP like, it was freaken hilaurious to me. -
Alot of people are seeing it late, I suppose. This easily tops my favorite movie of all time.
