My only complaint is Manafi. I'm used to Legendaries requiring certain promo items to be obtained, but a promo item from another game? That's just kinda ridiculous…
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
-
-
least Ranger looks to be a fun game, unlike having to get Jirachi from Pokemon Channel….
-
Well, that's the thing, the mission in Ranger that allows you to get Manafi in D/P is a Japanese only promotional event type deal. It gives you a mission where you get the Manafi egg and THEN have to transfer it to D/P.
So American D/P players are doubly screwed. Blah.
-
Holy-balls!! The final evolution of the monkey is badass.
-
Man, what kind of jewel or whatever are they gonna make next?
Pokemon Addamite and Rune? (RUNESCAPE, lol.)
Pokemon Coal? xD !
-
Yes, I'm getting it when it comes out in English. Way cool pokemon debut. Only thing I have against it is the amount of legendary pokemon. There are like, 15? It's sort of diminishing the value of "legendary".
-
Yay, a new Eevee evolution 0_o
Wtf, there's another Combusken in DP?
-

I'm still waiting for Pokemon Uranium and Plutonium. xD
Otherwise, my sister is the pokemon trainer in the house but I'll still get to play it now and then. We've been following the series since R/B (where I beat the 99:99 time limit o_O), they're nice games for casual playing.
-
Whenever 2 new Pokemon games come out, my friend and I always buy the two counterparts and race to beat the Elite 4. We've been doing it since Gold and Silver, a race I lost, but I won when Ruby and Sapphire came out.
Me and my other friends are all looking forward to the games and the new Stadium game for the Wii, so we can have tournaments on the big screen like we used to do for the 3rd generation.
-
Me and my best friend always buy the opposite, but we don't race, we try to stay neck and neck, so we can battle every now and then.
-
My brother and I were always competetive when it came to Pokemon. He bought Red, and I got Blue when they first came out. I think we'd always battle each other, and see who caught the most Pokemon. I've played every version, except the re-makes of the first ones. It'll be cool to get back into playing Pokemon when Diamond and Pearl come out.
-
me and my friend used to do something similar, we used to play over each others houses for hours on end, and after every gym we would link up and battle so we kept on trying to think up new tactics that would beat each other and everytime it would be close, ahhhh good fun.
-
I bought a DS Lite a couple of days ago and I'm very pleased with it. I will definately be getting these games and Mysterious Dungeon. It seems I still love those little critters at heart.
-
Alright~
Earlier today I placed my order for a copy of Pearl.I should get it by the end of the week, or on monday (I paid the extra bit for the fastest shipping)
If it arrives at my house by friday, I'll be nerding out the weekend with my new pokemon. XD
-
You got an import, right? Because I don't think it's out in America yet.
-
When is the release date for the States?
-
When is the release date for the States?
July 2007 -_-
I'm very excited about DP. I'll be getting Diamond, while my girlfriend will get Pearl. I must say that I like how most of the new Poke'mon are evolutions or pre-evolutions of older Poke'mon. A lot of them needed it! (I've totally fallen in love with Munchlax and Mime Jr.!) However, I think they could've done a little better on the Lickitung evolution. They just made him taller and put a swirl on his head. I also don't think that Magneton really needed an evolution. But all in all, I am very pleased! I'm going to choose the monkey starter, because monkeys are cool. Especially ones with their ASS ON FIRE!!!
-
@Usopp:
July 2007 -_-
You sure? That's the first time I've seen a definitive date anywhere (every other site I've checked says "TBA"), and I've seen people guessing around January or early 2007.
I personally like the Lickitung evolution, if only for the sole reason that they actually made one.
-

It's not official, but it's the date that's hovering around all the Poke'mon forums and lj communities. Don't forget that Emerald took close to a year to be translated and brought to the states. As did many of the other previous Poke'mon games.
-
Even though it's nowhere near announced, I'm guessing during the spring, since that was when Ruby & Sapphire were released, but it's a bad guess.
-
@Senshi:

Yup, I ordered a copy of the japanese version.
As for the topic of the english release, Spring 2007 is the big guess from most people.
I would think Nintendo would probably take about 6 months til they release it (That way they have 3 or 4 months to hype it up and give out the new Pokemon names in Nintendo power, like they did with Ruby and Sapphire) -
Hmmm, I'm sure the Nintendo Official Magazine had it slated for a Jan UK release….but then again, we all know how release dates slip.
-
:D
My copy of Pearl arrived in the mail today.
Its so fun~
I love the new 3D graphics for the maps.
and the new pokemon are awesome!continues loving Pokemon for another generation
-
Although Ruby was a smidgeon dissapointing for me, there's no way I'm not getting Diamond or Pearl. Just so many awesome looking pokemon…gets misty nostalgia of playing Red and Blue
I'm just really glad that they are expanding on two of my favorite types, Ice and Ghost. I love em (though not as much as grass!) and I always felt they've never gotten enough love before. Hell, there's even an ice/ghost! And it's so damn cute! And a bloody ghost/dragon! Hell yeah!
And Yukikaburi may just topple Snorlax as my favorite pokemon of all time. Ice/Grass FTW!
I also read somewhere that you can get Kabuto and that other shell one (Omanyite? Omanite?) in the games, but I've sadly heard nothing about Aerodacytal. Best fossil pokemon ever too...
I'm also excited for electric Kimba. Lions that shoot thunder always get tops in my books.
-
I think it will probably come out a week before or after or during the week when the season of pokemon from that area comes out. Becuase they did it with Gold And Silver and Ruby and Sapphire.
-
well the anime is nothing more than adverts for the new game, and if they released the Anime ages before or after the games then they'd lose out on the advertising for it really.
-

They've been advertising DP in the anime since they released the Destiny Deoxys movie in Feburary 2005. With the release, the world fell in love with Munchlax.
Currently in the anime, May has a Munchlax, Brock has a Bonsly, and James has a Mime Jr.
But overall, the US anime is still in the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald generation. The actual DP series itself has just started in Japan. And seeing how the DP games have also just been released in Japan, you're statement appears to be correct.

I thought Munchlax was released before that? Well, announced to be in DP and such I guess, anyways, we cant also forget that every generation has had some pokemon in way early (Togepi anyone?)
And yea, I like it when they start over, although I wish Ash would let that stupid Pikachu rot at Oaks so we dont have to see it every time. Oh and I see that May aint in, yet Brock makes another return, he better do something important instead of sit there and cook the food. Forretress especially should make a couple of returns, instead of being…well....dead.
-
I haven't watched the anime in years, but what the hell level would Pikachu be at at this point anyway? Should easily be 100. He's had it for so damn long…
-
well, so anyone play this afterall? I did get the japanese version and I must say, wifi is a godsend.
-
DP anime is pretty good so far.
-

They don't have levels in the anime I think. Though, I'd say for some unexplained reason, Pikachu always seems like it always restarts at its beginning potential every series beginning.
-
to be honest, Im an avid pokemon fan
I was FURIOUS when I heard of the new games earlier
but then I saw all the pokemon, and all the new crap you can do
and Im allO.O I WANT!
<3
I cant wait to get it.
thinkin Im gonna wind up getting both versions
Dairukia and Pariukia (or however their names are spelled) sure are pretty o3o -
Wi-Fi pokemon trading is ever so wonderful.
because of it, I have a Hikozaru, Totodile, Manaphy, Fione and Togepi (The Togepi is now a Togekiss :D)
I'm just trying to get a Naetoru and an Elekible.
Perhaps a Gonbe and Ditto while I'm at it. -
I only watch the anime for team Rocket lol
Love the games but knowing Nintendo europe (goddamn you for making me have to import wario ware twisted) they will screw us out of a half decent release date
-
SereneCrimson, do you frequent Gfaqs? If you do, what's your user account? For all we know, I've traded with you before =/

CrimsonGal2002
My trainer name on Pearl is Hina, so its possible that we've traded.
-
I don't think I've seen you there before :s
Might be fun to see what we have to trade, or could have a battle. If I manage to catch you online, let's talk. My FC is 4596 4417 5127 anyway.

American release date announced: (Thanks to Serebii.net)
April 22, 2007
**(**Wow, I'm resurrecting all these old topics. First Neuro in the manga thread, now this >.<)
-
They come out next month. I just preordered my copy of Diamond today. I was going to get Pearl because I think Palkia looks cooler than Dialga, but after seeing each game's exclusive Pokemon and Palkia's in-game sprite I changed my mind. The word "Diamond" sounds cooler than "Pearl" anyway.
Howzabout them English names?
-
aww too bad…if i have a DS, id probably buy it :/
-
Heh, the sad thing is that I don't have a DS yet laughs. I'm raising the money for one right now, but I figured that I wouldn't have enough until a little after Diamond and Pearl come out, and they might be kind of hard to find right after release.
-
I put down money for Pearl on Friday.
For Pokemon my tradition is to buy the "lamer" sounding version. I started off with Blue, then Silver, then Sapphire, etc. Aside from that, I like most of the Pearl exclusives move; the only exclusive in Diamond I'm disappointed about not getting is Murkrow and his evolution, but I'll just get one from my friend.
-
I'm getting Pearl because it has Stantler. I like Stantler.
Yeah, that's basically the only reason I'm not getting diamond. That pimp crow is pretty snazzy though.
-
Murkrow is betteru than Misdreavus.
T-Tar is betteru than Salamence.
Diaruga is betteru than Palkia.DIARUGA IS BETTERU THAN DAILGA!
…That said, I'm getting Diamond version, since I like the cover more. Yes, that's right, I'm getting it because of the cover. Pokemon exclusives don't really matter to me since the game's Wifi, so I can just get them.
It's strange usually the more red colored version of the game is said first (Red and Blue, Ruby and Sapphire) but this time it's the bluer(?) version first (Daimond and Pearl).
-
lol this thread reminds me of the fake pokemon diamond/jade i played 7 years ago…oh man was that jokes or what...
in that game, instead of using pokeballs, they give u cellphones...
when u defeat a (so called pokemon), u get its phone number lol, and u could call it for help when fighting other monsters...
http://www.trsrockin.com/fakegames.html
the middle section of the page shows the fake one in engrish version…omg the one i played was in japanese...i never knew the engrish version of the game was this hilarious lol
-
That game was called Telefang and was released here as Pokemon (to get on the popularity wagon). I actually tried playing it, it sucked balls. You could only have one of those things with you at a time and when you wanted to have another one in a battle, you had to call it and wait a few turns for it to come. I didn't really get all that far into the game, but it's enough to know it was terrible.
-
If they keep going with the game franchise, they're gonna run out of colors/jewels/metals to name new Pokemon games. I wonder what the next two will be called, if it turns out that they'll keep on going.
-

Nah, we still have elements. Pokemon Cobalt, anyone?
-
Pokemon Zircon will own you all!
But really, they would be crazy for them not to make more games. People still want Pokemon, no matter how uncool people say it is.
