Hey Arnold was definitely one of Nick's best. It had a huge cast, but most of the minor characters got development in their own episodes.
The guys at the boarding house were always my favorites, especially Kokoshka and Steely Phil.

My love for Helga is like a truck.
Arlond was like the only character that pissed me off at times, so I think I only watched the whole thing because the characters like Sid, Harold, Helga, Grandpa, Grandma and the folks of the boarding house (specially Ernie) were really interesting for secondary characters.
HA! was no IS an excellent Nicktoon. The Christmas ep always makes me sad. ):
Mr. Smith is all the win
Brainy, guys
brainy
"What are you doing here on this deserted island all by yourself?!"
"…breath breath... stuff."
You're right man, that guy was awesome. I laughed when he gets smacked by Helga.
Yeah, Hey Arnold was my favorite show and my favorite characters were Oscar, Harold, Brainy,The Jolly Olly man, Grandpa, and Helga's Dad.
Ahh nice little slice of adventure in urban life, tis a pity though they never resolved that whole parent thing. The backstory behind them was very interesting. I loved the movie too it just didn't get a fair shake due to Nick crappy advertising for it. Heck they'd go all out for Rugrats but come time for HA they pretty much just slapped anything together.
Speaking on the subject of this, anyone remember Barret's (HA's creator) other work, Party Wagon? It only showed once on CN and was never seen again. If I had known I would've taped it.
I always thought it was hilarious how the weird Asian boarder turned out to have a tortured past as a Vietnamese exile

Oh my, yes. I absolutely adored Party Wagon. I was really hoping they'd make a series out of it, but, you know….
Damn I miss those days.
I remember seeing Party Wagon on CN. It's a shame it didn't go anywhere. :/
i was just farting around jewtube and i think
just my be my favorite episode (besides Grampa's Birthday)@Cap'n:

This kind of thing is always inexplicably amusing, really.
Ah, good times :)
Does anybody remember that episode where "Dino Spumoni" faked his death to get famous, and then hit out with Arnold?
@Lobster:

"Dino Mania: Not the real Dino, but an incredible simulation."
OH MY GAWD, I MISS THIS FREAKIN' SHOW!!!
If only Nick would at least show re-runs of it more than once or twice a year.
Soooo… have any of you guys read my fanfic "Harold Loves Meat"?
Sorry to plug that, but I just want your second opinions on it. Pretty please? :)
I posted a link to it a page back. I shall never bug you guys about that ever again.
@Roz:
This sounds like hella porno up in here.
Heh. When I wrote that, it was intended to piss off everyone at GameFAQs. Believe me, it worked!
Dammit Leaf Cable.
Now I can't un-read it.
Sorry Roz and everyone else. If I didn't share it with you, someone on 4chan would have exposed you to it.
No joke, but whenever someone mentions Hey Arnold, I remember the taste of Honey Combs. A long time ago, they had Arnold on the Honey Combs box for some promo thing.
Aww crap, now I'm hungry X_x.
I watched one episode of MST3K and one of the riffs reminded me of the opera episode. It was during the short Design for Dreaming near the end when Mike was singing "With my sword and magic helmet," which reminded me of "With my golden magic slingshot."
The opera episode used pre-existing music with made up lyrics, so…
when Mike was singing "With my sword and magic helmet," which reminded me of "With my golden magic slingshot."
Yeah, Gerald actually brings that up, "I thought it was sword (or maybe it was spear, I don't remember) and a magic helmet", and then Helga goes, "No, with my golden magic slingshot…D'oy!"
Someone mentioned that Helga said "bastard" in one episode, can anyone confirm this? I know she said "crap" in the love potion episode.

Helga said "crap" a lot, instances like, "what is this crap?", and "they're beating the crap out of each other."
However, I don't remember Helga ever saying "bastard".
Edit: "I'm supposed to be in bed by 8:30, right after my favorite show, Yo Ernest."
my favorite episode hands down is the pigeon man. Everything about it was just fucking awesome
that and the episode where Steely Phil was talking about WWII and at some point (god its been forever since ive seen this episode) he gives hitler a wedgie and i swear to god i laugh every time i think of it
the show was amazing, i wish it hadn't gone off the air
Phil giving Hitler a wedgie was the most awesomeness thing to ever be on Nickelodeon. It was my most favorite part of the series by far and I laugh my ass off every time I think of it.
IT WAS EPIC!!!
Wow this takes me back a lot, you can still catch it on nicktoons tv if you have it.

Well hey, look at this.
I'm surprised that episode got away with what it did. References to Hitler, Nazism, showing swastikas, they danced around the topic of sex (not the last time they would), and I think at one point they showed blood.

Yeah, that episode had a lot of stuff…
Phil beating down Hitler....
Phil almost sleeping with german farm girls..
Phil saving a life...
Was not also that episode where Arlond asked what was Scham/Spam or whatever they called the canned ham?
@Kaimei-Karasuhebi:
Phil almost sleeping with german farm girls..
Actually, he does end up banging them, he just doesn't finish that part of the story, "I'll tell you that part when you're older."
Lara Croft Helga for the fucking win.
I read somewhere that on the April Fool's episode of Hey Arnold that Helga tells Arnold: "You're the load your momma should of swallowed, football head!".
Holy crap.
I completely forgot about Pigeon Man. It scared the shit out of me when I was a kid, but it was awesome.

Naniiii?!?! o_O ?!?!?!
I felt bad for Pigeon Man. Stupid fucking prejudice kids. :(
@Tommy Swoe: I know it sounds weird, but I kid you not!
@Tommy Swoe: I know it sounds weird, but I kid you not!
How in seven hells did Nick let that one slide?!?
And by that point, the show was still rated TV-Y.
It has probably been changed by now, but she apparently said that. I miss those days with lax censors! XD
@Tommy:
That was a good episode.
I watched that part and thought of Metal Gear Solid.
@Mr.:
Holy crap.

Ah, Pidgeon man, one of the most inspiring characters of the whole series.
His exit was by far the greatest of any animated character at the time.
I also thought it was funny how Harold was Jewish all of a sudden
Did anybody notice how cool Pheobe's house was?
@Lobster:

It was pretty cool, now that I think about it.
I just loved the episode when they were playing a football game against Wolfgang and the 5th graders. They decide to bring in ol' Torvald as their trump card, then bam, he sprains his ankle. Always made me laugh.
Good ol' Torvald.
Speaking of Phoebe, I think one of the lamest episodes belonged to her…it was that one where she farted on stage. That was pretty lame.
Phoebe was kinda lame all around though.
@Komrade:

Yep…the last episode they aired.
And I never saw it.

Speaking of Wolfgang, the episode of where the 5th graders hunted down the 4th graders to put them in trash cans was pretty funny. I don't think there were many episodes with Wolfgang, tough.
The Episode with Harold working on the Meat Shop (sp?!) was like one of my favorites. I always found amusing how Harold got the most development of the cast.
@Tommy:

That's what sucked, they just abruptly ended the series right there.
