You're going to get that with companies buddying up with China so much because of the money while they're a country that goes against a lot of what the US is at least on the surface against. There have been several similar issues I've seen before.
Movies that don't deserve their own thread

Watched Tenet couple nights ago. In a smaller theater which is also a cultural center of a small town. There were ten of us inside. One older dude got out 15 minutes in, when it became evident some time travel stuff is going on. But then he came back 20 minutes before the end, lol!
I mean I enjoyed it, and they definitely put a lot of work into making the concept work. The sound and soundtrack make it worthwhile to see in a theater, if you don't have a bitchin surround at home.
! Some dialogues felt needlessly stretched out. And some scenes were awkwardly overly dramatized. Like when Rotas hits his wife, I was like "surprised it took him this long" but the score that started playing implied it was biggest scariest twist ever and felt totally out of place.
! The last rush sequence felt a little stale. Think it would have benefited from more enemy henchmen with significance. This way it came to one "named" guy and a bunch of mooks.
! And the action scenes with reverse flows were hard to follow. Your brain keeps refusing to work with it, lol. People say the 2nd watch makes things come back together completely (which is a nice sneaky way to increase profits I guess), and you probably notice some hints you couldn't in first sitting. Wordplay and such.
! Quit enjoyable, but I think it might have easily been shorter. -
Trailer for the new Dune movie
-
I’ve never heard of Dune before, looks like a lot is going on
-
Dune's a pretty well known thing. Hard to believe there are people that haven't heard of it even if they haven't read it/watched any of the adaptations. Especially if they're into sci-fi.
-
Dune is considered a classic and influential sci-fi novel.
-
I wonder how the streaming money will compare to what they might have gotten if it had actually opened in theatres in the US. I imagine a lot of people don't want to pay $30 to watch the movie at home since while you do pay a lot to go to the movies you get the big screen there and just the act of going out itself. Though I wonder why it's bombing in China.
-
If I had to fashion a guess even without the higher premium I think it still would've struggled financially, since at least going by reviews it's not really considered as good as or better than the original which is something these live action remakes have had problems with.
As for why it's bombing in China that's definitely a interesting quandary.
-
It does seem like a weird decision to make it more into a mystical martial arts movie. I haven't seen the animated movie for forever but is the dragon character the only really supernatural element in it? Though that person in that video says that the original story doesn't even have the dragon, but was that poorly received in China even back then? Or is it that this new movie just went over the top with the magic?
-
I usually love chi and martial arts movies, I have a shit ton of DVD's like, Ong Bak 1 and 2, The protector, The raid 1 and 2, Crouching tiger hidden dragon, house of flying daggers, hero, fearless, The Drunken master 1 and 2, enter the dragon, the ip man movies, kung fu hustle, fist of legend, iron monkey, chocolate
But I don't think this one was particularly good
-
I did not know they were doing The Witches remake. Which they appear to be fusing with Everybody Hates Chris and Americanizing it.
I love ya, Anne Hatheway, but you have a HARD job going up against Angelica Houston.
-
I watched the new Bill and Ted movie several weeks ago, and honestly it was extremely awesome, and I dare say better than the previous two. I feel like it concluded the movie series better than the second movie did. I'm glad I got a chance to watch it, and it really helped a bit with my depression.
! Maybe music is the answer to achieving world peace like how it happened in this movie. I really loved that music scene with bringing all different people from different times to help bring the world together. I really like how the final act was done. Also, I'm glad that we got revisit time travel and going to hell again, I thought those were nice touches.

Has anyone seen Mank ?
-
What happens if you put Nicholas Cage in FNAF? Well…
-
I hate horror movies, but this might be one I'd actually watch. Except this is something I'd really want to watch with friends and I'm stuck in quarantine.
-
What happens if you put Nicholas Cage in FNAF? Well…
so its gonna be like the main character is stuck in a horror movie, but doesn't care because of reasons while said movie goes on all around him. why does this feel like something out of venture bros for some reason?
-
Finally a trailer!! So excited for this
-
Why is this happening? I mean, it could be cool, but why does the trailer resemble Joker so much? Also even if this movie is good, it's going to be a prequel to a movie where an insane fashion designer gets outsmarted by puppies. Cruella de Vil was not a brilliant woman, despite what this trailer says.

People say they want more diversity in main role casting and woman empowerment in media, Hollywood takes this as "Oh like Harley Quinn and Daenerys in GoT" which is horrible by itself because WB/DC try to force Harley to be a discount Way era Deadpool - the worst Wade run - or a self righteous always right can do no wrong kind of person.

Anyone see the Mortal Kombat movie trailer?
-
Yes, not much to talk. Don't think it will be any good. At least the SFX are gonna be lit.
-
watched Repo Man and Walker both great, Walker in particular has my favorite way of approaching a biopic: covering a short time period and not caring about historical accuracy.
shame what to happened to Alex Cox. -
I don't know how many people remember Sling Blade, but that was a damn good movie. One of Billy Bob Thornton's defining performances (and everyone else in the movie acted their asses off too).
-
I reckon that movie makes me want to eat some french fried potaters, mmhmm.
-
So am I the only one excited for The Nevers next month?
How about Mortal Kombat?
-
Watched Fallen Angels (1995). Never before has a film so eloquently captured the feeling of going out for fast food at 3am. Masterpiece.
-
Bullets of Justice. If you have Amazon Prime, do yourself a favor and turn your brain off for an hour and a half.

New Trailer
Old Trailer
So basically X-Men in Victorian London done by Joss Whedon with Laura Donnelly (Outlander) as the main character and Nick Frost playing a psychopath sign me up! -
Good way to address the racism and discrimination of the WAS ol' gentry, without using real history.
-
I watched Eric Andre's Bad Trip on Netflix and it was hilarious. It's a hidden camera movie with a bit of a story around it, but it's not about the story, it's about the pranks, and I love them. If you're into the Eric Andre Show you'll love it, if not, your mileage may vary. Here's one of the funniest scenes that mixes story and pranks pretty hilariously:
-
Looking forward to the new MK movie. But this remake for the film is too much. I listen to modern music, but not necessarily to pure dance music. And obviously, techno music from the 90's isn't going to work for the new generation. But this remake is way too busy. Way too dance. The original is strangely simple and gets me pumped!
-
The first episode of the nevers was disappointing, hopefully it will get better
-
If you're curious, HBO has put the first 7 minutes of Mortal Kombat on youtube:
-
some people already seen it and
! they seem to agree that it's a concise effort; as if the studio wasn't sure they should go all out in the first attempt. Good effects, weak movie. Good words on Sub-zero and Scorpion, bashing Mileena hard.
! Apparently it works as a prequel to the first live action in a way. -

t 3am. Masterpiece.I did a week orso ago also give it a try.
Did not exactly strike me as a masterpiece, but i liked the weird tantrums of the female character^^ -

! bashing Mileena hard.
! Apparently it works as a prequel to the first live action in a way.! Mileena looked awful in the trailer. And I can say that as someone who has only played Mortal Kombat sparingly.
-
well, just watched the MK new movie and…it's trash. like, really awful.
! I had found memories of the first movie, saw it on a big screen and had a good time overall…this one...well, nothing worked for me; story tidbits, special effects, fight choreography, name dropping, lore change (Sonya is a really poor, kinda lunatic that appears to have a connection to the military but none of it's money or people; Milena is barely a character; magic is named arcana, despite the loredump coming from an Asian and martial arts context; Reptile is a literal beast; etc). The gore is there, but it has nothing elso going for it.
-
! Mileena looked awful in the trailer. And I can say that as someone who has only played Mortal Kombat sparingly.
Still looks better than she looks in 11:ninja:
-
Well MK was shit. Not so shit I won't my time back (give me back my 100 min Raya).
-
Is anyone watching The Nevers?
This third episode had an awesome fight with a guy who could walk on water, one of the most interesting fight scenes I’ve ever seen, and after the credits they show how they explain how they shot the scene, it’s really interesting
-
Sputnik is certainly better than any alien movie hollywood has produced in the last decade or more.
-
Does anyone else think what there doing with the new Conjuring movie is wrong? There making a movie based on a real life murder case where the plaintiff said they were demonically possessed when they killed someone, and the movie will imply that they were indeed demonically possessed when they committed murder therefore saying they are not responsible for there actions
if it was my family member who was murdered I would be so pissed about this
-
Haven't heard of anything about it but you already have stuff like the Amityville Horror that is something similar to what you're saying (and there's probably more). I probably wouldn't like it if I was the focus (or one of my family was the focus) but I don't think they should be stopped or anything unless they make a deal with the family.
-
Everyone needs to see the first three minutes of this movie. You can watch the rest if you want, but mainly the first three minutes.

jaw drop Okay, didn't expect that.
