The sparrow is my favorite character.
He would make a great mascot for the series.
I checked again and the bird was there chilling in chapter 2
This week´s color page:
Chapter 11 raws:

That's not Japanese.
! Are they doing that thing that Magi was supossed to do?
! Are they doing that thing that Magi was supossed to do?
! I didn`t follow Magi that much. What do you mean?
@Master:

! Dungeon Diving.
There was like only 3 of they outside Sinbad that only had 2 until now.
Jeez, things are getting exciting… Well for me at least. Things are looking up
! The way they explained dungeons, well what I got from it was that they appear randomly at times (not just people stumbling on them). And this first dungeon was beautiful, I wasn't expecting the art or the design to be so good. I don't even know what I was expecting.
! So a bit more world building countries (not just cities within the continent/borders), Dungeons, Mana…
! A little more characterisation for Luck, electric magic I quite like that.
! Yuno is back.
! I'm guessing this is the first proper arc, it's started off really well
Thank God I'm subscribed to Shonen Jump
And now early Magi is added to the mixture, yea.
It's slowly getting better. I'm still a long way from liking Asta (his gags are more misses than hits so far) but some other characters have the potential to be characters I can really like. Luck for example.
Interested to see what challenges await them in the dungeon. Maybe some hints of Golden Dawn dark side.
One other thing I can say is that the author can draw really pretty ladies. Vanessa in wizard's clothes in last week's chapter
That reminds me. Asta's eyes…and I guess his face's design in general, look really odd, compared to how every other character is drawn, especially the ladies.
Like I feel that as a design, Asta belongs in another series.
Yuno looks pretty badass
Kinda agree with you about Asta´s design. It´s realy odd. I don´t mean it´s bad, just odd. In this week´s color page his face is kinda diabolic.
Yep. Its totally Magi.
Also, Nero is best character.
Good chapter.
So there are other kingdoms. I suppose their structure is similar and they have their WK. Or maybe not…
Lakk is crazy as hell xD.
I want to see how Yuno and Asta will work together.
Actually it reminds me a scenario of a typical adventure film. If it will be done right, it can be great arc
Noellers is showing so much skin as a clothed Vanessa in my opinion.
Yeah, a little bit of fanservice. Personally I never liked underaged girls doing it, but I don´t mind Vanessa:wub:
As if Magi invented the concept of dungeon hunting…
Treasure hunting is beyond cliche in a lot of adventure films
Would you say this is worth reading now?
Couldn't get past chapter one.
@Master:
Treasure hunting is beyond cliche in a lot of adventure films
yeah, the nitpicking is pretty ridiculous now.
Whether Tabata is using stuff from specific series or is just using tropes isn't that important.
It's more important that the fact that he's throwing these elements together is noticable at all; they're not integrating into the story smoothly. My instant reaction to reading should not be either 'oh, something is from so and so' or 'oh look, next in line, generic trope X'.
And it feels like he's adding them in a way similar to going through a checklist, ticking them off. It leads to that formulaic, or engineered, feel.
So business as usual then.
Ah well, at least it's moved up from Uninspired Garbage to Boring Snoozefest.

And yet here you are, with some of the most posts in this thread….
The overall problem with this is that Tabata appears to be playing this remarkably safe (BULGE AGAIN!) and shamelessly borrowing what seems to be popular now days and carelessly implementing them into his comic. It seems remarkably disorganized and scattered from jumping here and there with what seems to be inspired by Naruto…and then Fairy Tail...and then Magi.
It is also generic as bread, but that's already a given.
By itself, being generic isn't a bad thing (see: My Hero Academia). The problem is that it doesn't have the fun factor to go with it.
And yet here you are, with some of the most posts in this thread….
I also had some of the most posts in the Pajama na Kanojo thread; and I don't think anyone here is going to argue that that wasn't terrible.

I get it. The kingdoms are named after cards. Just like the Donquixote Family.
! Ha! Johnny Deep stole the Joestar's Secret Technique.

"Because we're gonna skennadle on outta here!"
From now on, I'll be translating this series as well. This chapter was my work. Yoroshiku!
That was the best chapter yet! Tabata is finding his voice and his confidence. The reception reinforced that.
I find myself liking this series more and more as it goes on. I like that lightning boots guy too. He's cute.
So with the introduction of other nation's wizards, does this mean some/ or even many nations might have multiple versions of the same exact powers; I.e. Many versions of the same lightning power?
@LUFFYSMC:

We already saw someone with water magic(the sister).
Also a thief in Chapter 10 used Wind Magic, just like Yuno.
I guess there will be same types of magic, but techniques will be different.

I don't get it! Why won't you pick up a series that isn't yet translated like Kagamigami or for once a Shogakukan title? My Hero Academia is getting full attention by how manny groups? The scanlation scene is so fucked up. Im still wondering why Hinomaru Zumou's scans are taking so long (the group could use the digital raws in order to lessen the work of re-drawing ) although the translation is up to date

Please, Gliblord must not be disturbed by all this rabble talk.
It's scan group politics. I'm just along for the ride.
Seems like this series is popular enough that it'll stick around for a while. That and most of the folks here seem to like it. I guess I'll catch up and follow this series too.
The scanlation group's choices make sense, though we would all love to have every series possible translated over to English. There just aren't enough people to handle too much content at once. Because of this, I assume they pick the most popular series (even with an official release) so that more people will enjoy their efforts.
And much in the same way I wait for a series to establish popularity before catching up, I'm sure the scanlation groups want to wait for the same reason before devoting resources to a series.
And thanks to you Glib I was able to catch up to Academia!

It's so nice seeing Sojiro back in WSJ, I missed Kenshin so much

Chapter 14 is out.
For a moment I thought he would pierce his mom with an eletric claw.
He probably did that though.
"Because we are nakamas!!!" xD
Pretty good chapter overall. I like Rakk and both of the villians, but it seems that Tabata fodderizes females as much as Kishi:getlost:
