I know not to expect a new theme song yet, but I’m hoping for at least new eye catchers. Hopefully the break allowed them to get ahead enough time finally make new ones.

Still on track for returning on the 28th?

I just hope that maybe the artists, directors and animators took the extra time to make the episodes look better.

PRAISE THE LORD!
-
It's been 84 years.
-
A two month break is kind of insane for this show. It’ll be really nice to have it back, and I hope the break allowed the animators to both have a rest and for the episode quality to increase.
-
I'm just going to say some words of caution here: just because there was an unexpected two month hiatus I would not expect the show to suddenly look like a car that went through the carwash after coming back. As I said in first post while the animators themselves can do their work remotely without too too much trouble I imagine all the other moving parts are trickier.
Now One Piece is certainly in a far better position than something like, say, the tirefire that is Black Clover, but don't be surprised if in a month or so we get a string of episodes that had their productions heavily disrupted at the time that everything shut down that look and move like absolute doodoo if the art isn't corrected to hell and back. The benefits will probably be seen more further out in terms of certain future episodes having better scheduling and lead time.
-
I was just watching the last episode and realized I don’t really know what I was expecting when I said that I hoped they had extra time to make the episodes look better. By and large they already look great. Maybe I should’ve said I hope they avoid their occasional weak episode for longer.
And yeah, I’ll be curious how they look, and if there are any noticeable covid-related changes. Hopefully the downtime allowed them to fix episodes that got disrupted. But no one should expect the pacing to increase. That won’t change an iota. We’d need a year long hiatus for the pacing to increase.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Maybe I shouldn’t say “pacing” so much as chapter-to-episode ratio. Since the director can pretty much control the pacing (to a point) regardless of how much content they’re asked to cover.
-
Such a schedule disruption is definitely gonna have an effect on certain episodes.
The positive effects are definitely gonna kick in the long run.

Some new scenes from official video:
-
From the animation front some very sexy stuff is inbound.
For all of those who were angry at the Luffy vs Batman filler in 901, looks like justice will be served.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also just to pre-emptively clear up some stuff, just because there was a hiatus after episode 929 it doesn't mean that the episodes coming directly after will suddenly look like something out of a movie.
All of the footage we see in that preview where from episodes which were likely already finished (or almost finished) before the break happened.
As stated by Crossword, the hiatus will likely have an effect on the production only way later down the road.
-
Tu was originally hyping 930 up on twitter a couple months ago and was pretty bummed when it was delayed so it's great to see from that preview that it's coming back with a bang. And for a rather minor fight in the scheme of things Zoro vs. that guy certainly looks to be getting quite a bit of shine, and that's not even the teased Kojima part!
-
Tu Yong-ce's dance scene is so damn fluid. And the Zoro scene is just incredible.
According to Tu Yong-ce on twitter the Zoro cut was animated by Junwen Tan
-
Tu has been my favorite animator this arc. Could someone send me his twitter?
And yeah, the clip looks gorgeous. The dance and Zoro battle in particular. Very exciting.

Would it be unreasonable to suspect that the next few episodes got a little extra polishing—even if they were done before the hiatus?

Yeah I mean that's possible.

Is Kojima doing a new scene?
-
He drew some fan art of Zoro hanging out by that snow-bound bridge, and he posted Wano Luffy and Red Hawk fan art shortly before his other three scenes earlier in the arc aired, so…
-
That's exciting to know. He has been appearing a lot lately despite not being an in-house animator.
-
Woah. This is like the best cover I’ve ever seen.

Here's another you might enjoy
It's on an official Japanese vlog cover artist compilation called One Piece Muuusic!

In Kojima's case it helps that he's allegedly a big One Piece fan outside of his work but yeah, with all the new guest animators who've been showing up it's been an exciting and unprecedented time for the anime. And we're still nowhere near done with the arc.
I can't wait to see what other surprises are in store. Since they're both either employed by Toei directly or are otherwise in their orbit I'm hoping we see Takeru Shinozuka and Yu Yoshiyama show up at some point. The former has a knack for animating dinosaurs going by Stampede and Digimon, while the latter has a really cool style that incorporates 80s and early 90s Yoshinori Kanada-style effects.

I wasnt aware of Yuu Yoshiyama, she seems like a perfect choice for example in a stealth black or a general franky scene. As for Shinozuka, i've been keeping my eye on him. He has a lot of potential and i love his digimon stuff. I also hope we see Masami Mori and Takumi Yamamoto return in the near future.
Edit: I actually was aware of an new animator who had an oldschool kanada-esque style but i didnt know the name. After rewatching one of animeajay's digimon videos i remembered where i heard about her
-
Yuu Yoshiyama and Takeru Shinozuka are definitely some names I would love to see pop up on the show.
I would definitely like to see Bahi JD, Masami Mori, Takeshi Maenami, Tingmu Yang, Meng Sun and Shuu Sugita participate on One Piece again.
As for other names I would love to see animators like Aito Ohashi, Akihiro Ota or Yuya Takahashi make a guest appearance on the series as well.

All of them are perfect for one piece. One wish of mine is to see Kameda in the anime one day. Very unlikely i know but his style fits so perfectly its a shame we dont have even one glimpse of what one piece would look like in his hands. Bones animators in general havent had much connection to the franchise. I do see Umakoshi participating in the climax of wano tho. He and Nagamine collaborate often afterall
-
Yeah Kameda's too presigious for a weekly long running show like One Piece.
That's why I went with choices that are more "viable". :p
-
Kameda has worked on a number of long runners so he's not necessarily out of sight in terms of potential animators, he's no Mitsuo Iso
-
While we're posting out animator wish lists, I'm just going to throw Hironori Tanaka's name into the mix to wash out the bad taste of episode 307 I think it was.

Yeah the infamous episode 307. Aito Ohashi is also listed in a bunch of episodes but i guess he didnt do anything noteworthy in most of them, or i just missed them. The only scene that i remember from him (or at least i assume its from him) is one short Sanji scene in episode 522
-
I completely forgot that Ohashi and Tanaka of all ppl were on One Piece in the past.
-
Finally!!!
