Looks like the wait is almost over. Such a disappointing way for the news to break.
Looks good. Hopefully it's a dubbed release.
At this point, I'm seeing it regardless of whether it's a dubbed or subbed release (or both).

Eh. It wasn't a long wait. The movie isn't big news, honestly. If it's coming out in October, that means Funimation needs to announce it soon. Here's praying they announce S10 alongside it. It'll give them an opportunity to announce, at least. Any cons with industry panels coming up?
AMC has taken down the listing, basically meaning it wasn't supposed to go up yet
So basically we got a Walmart annoucing Dragon Ball Season 1 boxset before Funimation could announced it sitution with Stampede.

He's saying that it's like when Walmart had the Dragon Ball Season 1 DVD set up on their website before FUNi had officially announced it and it got taken down. The same thing seems to be happening here with Stampede being listed on AMC's website before FUNi announced it and it getting taken down as well.
REALLY hoping the AMC date listing is true. My birthday is the day after and I can't think of a better way of spending it than seeing a OP film in theaters.
Around a week ago AMC put up a listing for the film Human Lost for an October 22nd release. Today Funimation officially announced the Human Lost release for October 22/23.
So yeah, that Stampede listing…
Do you guys think they could have dubbed the movie that fast, with Dragonball its understandable??
The movie is only 1 hour and 41 minutes. It shouldn't be difficult for Funimation.
It’ll only take them a bit because there are so many character, surely some they’ll have to fly in from LA just for a line or two. (Or have them record at a different location in LA.)
October is a ways away and they’ve already got all the material to work with. Here’s hoping it’s released on Blu-ray in December.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
All the cons that I know of coming up are small ones; not sure there are any huge ones coming up where they could announce. We might just get a normal blog post announcing the movie. Again, crossing my fingers on S10 being announced alongside it.
Next time a special comes out, I assume we can expect to get it dubbed and released? That’ll be nice, if they keep up with them from now on like they keep up with the movies. Heart of Gold is still my favorite special; funny I liked it more than film GOLD, so hopefully other specials in the future will also be great and worth having a dub for. I’m betting their sales for the new Skypeia special will crash and burn; hopefully they don’t let that determine anything.
Bummer they’ve caught up on their licenses. So far as I know, they don’t have their hand on any other specials or old movies to release. So we might be in for a complete dry soell after the movie.
Wasn't Gold announced at NYCC? That is in October. Same month of the whole 20th thing for the anime. Curious if anything will pop up there.
If the release date is October, I doubt they’ll wait to announce it until the same month of release.

Same theater twice.
Probably valid. Been watching the other dubbed OP movies, or at least Film Gold to start, and hoping this is as fun as OPP claims it is. Film Gold was/is boring for me.

Yeah same for me, it was a real drag into the end when all the fighting started
Yeah…. Looks like Funimation’s days of dubbing One Piece is over party. Google Funileaks to understand what I mean by this.
Funimation isn't going to lose One Piece over this situation.
Some people are too young to remember the gag dub of Ghost Stories.
That "leak" from 2002 has no effect on One Piece.

Once this gets back to Toei, they could sever business ties. Not saying that’s a sure thing, but I could see that happening. They’re anal about how their properties are treated, and this is a pretty serious breach. Wouldn’t be surprised if they do cut all ties with Funimation and move to work with VIZ or elsewhere from now on.

Yeah. Even through I never watch Ghost Stories. I heard stuff about the dub of that series.

The Ghost Stories gag dub was done with permission because the series failed in Japan and the animation studio didn't care what they did.

Unfortunately most Japanese companies seem to have no sense of humor when it comes to international dealings. The Godzilla and Gamera Mystery Science Theater episodes will never see another official release for that reason.

Right. They're prudish. This will probably damage their relationship with Funi, but hopefully not beyond repair. But if any OP deals are in-process, I wouldn't be surprised if they hit a slow-down because of this.

Hopefully the theatrical deal for Stampede has been finalized.
IGN just posted the article, so it’s definitely blowing up. Man, these actors are immature.
I don't care about the whole funimation scandal. Just give me a release date for season 10 and stampede please :(
Raunchy outtakes are nothing new. I've seen the ones Richard Epcar shared from Lupin and Bobobo at conventions, and Noein and Midori Days had them as DVD extras. As long as they haven't done anything worse, I don't see this taking too long to pass.
I agree, raunchy outtakes aren't really new. The Thundercats outtakes is still some of the funniest things I ever heard.
I think some of you are being too presumptuous in regards to this how much this affects their long relationship with Toei…
Eh. The outtakes usually aren’t this rough. And we’re In a Twitter #MeToo world now, so the reception tends to blow out of proportion.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to call Chris Sabat's nearly five minute homoerotic voice drama complete with background music an outtake.
The other clips could more reasonably be considered outtakes, but Sean Schemmel definitely needs to apologize for that one clip.

The weird thing about it is these outtakes were an open secret from Japan. Meaning Toei Animation didn't know they existed. The audio clips were back when Dragon Ball Z dubbing was starting out in the 90s as you can hear the audio of their old voices. Keep this in mind these clips leaked on the same time as Funimation was in Japan with Toei Animation about I'm guessing a renewing deal. So some would say it's a false flag attack kinda. Either way. I'll never listen to dub Goku the same way again.

Whatever you wanna call it, it was not aimed at any individual person and not meant to be shared or broadcast. Compare it to that Dexter's Lab short Rude Removal. It was made strictly for the cast and crew to have a laugh, not meant to air, and only shown to a handful of people for the longest time.
I'm not calling any of this stuff good, nor evil. I just see it as the cast and crew consensually letting off steam in a private, safe environment. Whatever damage control they've gotta do because they actually kept the tapes, just begging to be leaked, is on them. And if they have any lingering prejudices, I should hope they'll get that sorted out. But I've heard quite as bad as that and worse from off-the-cuff VA recordings, so I don't fault these guys personally.

I have mixed feelings.
On one hand Funimation had to have given them some sort of permission, be it stated, implied or assumed through lack of punitive action, to do that stuff. In some ways it's hard to blame the voice actors if they were allowed or encouraged to make and record sex jokes by a cool (but stupid) boss who also kept all of it stored at the office making the recordings easy to steal (and unintentionally enabling much more inappropriate alleged behavior to go unchecked for years, placing female employees in danger).
On the other hand, if Toei starts making demands it'll be very hard for Funimation to argue that they shouldn't be fired because of all the negative press they've brought to the Dragonball IP over the last eight months (Funi really should've stepped in and done something about the never-ending Twitter fights with fans and trolls). The recordings are just the icing on the cake, and the fact that the voice of Goku didn't immediately rush out and apologize for making a homophobic joke involving an anti-gay slur is genuinely shocking and would be a fireable offense at most media companies in 2019.
If someone needs to be blamed for all of this (and if they put the company's relationship with its most significant licensor in danger, someone does) it's primarily the heads of Funimation who knowingly let their employees do all of this embarassing stuff on company time using company hardware and leave evidence of it on company servers.
However, Funimation desperately needs to show that this kind of behavior is taken seriously and inappropriate sexual comments aren't only addressed after massive backlash from Twitter. We don't live in the 50s any more and constant raunchy sex jokes just aren't appropriate on the job at a major American company.
Some kind of punitive action needs to be taken against the employees involved and workplace practices need to change.
I think it would be difficult for Toei to simply cut all ties with FUNimation. Those are massive shows we're dealing with here.
Stampede listing is down once again on AMC's website
Funimation just announced Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl for theatrical screenings starting on October 2. Like Human Lost (that I mentioned before) this is yet another movie that showed up as a listing on AMC with the correct date before Funimation officially announced it…
Hopefully they'll release Stampede both subbed and dubbed in theaters.

ANN says that was Funimation, yeah.
Maybe they can get Marc Diraison to reprise his role.

Which one? He was the original Zoro and a few others, and Taki's dad in "Your Name". None of them seem likely, much as I like him.
October 5th is the NYCC industry panel. And they’re having a light box show or something.

I put that under the maybe until lawsuit is over catalog. For all we know? It could be nothing again and it’s back to square one. I wanna be hopeful. But meh!
What would the Vic lawsuit have to do with OP?

Nothing; If they want to dub it they'll just replace the controversial figures associated and continue on. Besides, One Piece was on hiatus months before this lawsuit even started, so I don't know why anyone would make that connection

An affidavit signed by a former Funimation employee indicated that Sabat may have been using his influence to ensure that women who didn't sleep with him were fired or denied jobs.
As for how that's directly related to One Piece, someone dug up this clip where

What the hell? ….I get it if its a joke, and wants to have fun with his friends but, How could he do all of that in a professional setting?.
It seems he has a lot power at Funimation, when he's supposed to be just a voice actor.

I’m not sure “sexual harrassment” is the phrase I’d use for that, and she doesn’t seem to be so bothered by it. They’re all friends over there screwing with each other. Of course it’s inappropriate workplace behavior, though. He shouldn’t have done it in a work setting.
