@td1:
No, only One Piece is having a break not the magazine.
Huh, EMUNOPLA told us otherwise. Seems to be a different schedule this year. Thanks.
It's still consistent 39 chapters a year that Oda has been doing.

A nice round number like 40 would be nice, but hey.

Next chapter comes out in Japan next Saturday. So leaks should be earlier.
This thread got juicy.
@All:
The ENTIRE Weekly Shonen Jump is having a break, not just Oda this time.
I don't see how a chapter that introduces a character that will have an importance somehow does not move the story forward. There is this thing called progression. Do tell how can Oda jam pack everything in a 17 pages chapter without it seeming rushed.
Yeah. This chapter like, objectively moved the plot forward, I don't understand how there can even be an objection about that. And we have desperately needed more interactions from the missing half of the crew – Usopp/Robin/Franky/Zoro -- and we got them this chapter (except Zoro 'cause he's a wandering samurai). These chapters aren't ultra meaty, but they're absolutely needed for the greater whole of One Piece to be more polished. Sometimes people just gotta realize that the weekly grind does not always mesh with the completed story.

This is fantastic news, thanks.
No reason he can't be a swordsman and have another gimmick (or his puppets could be the means by which he practices swordsmanship). Like if Cracker somehow ran out of biscuit soldiers and had to fight by himself, that would be kind of how I'd picture it; someone with an ego like that would prefer to show off the big machine or other ostentatious talent before falling back on the more mundane thing that everyone and their mother probably practices in Wano anyway. But if he turns out to be an authentic Zoan Orochi, he'll be yet another swordsman who probably holds swords in the mouth (since the snakes don't have arms…or maybe some versions of Orochi do? I dunno.) If so, it'll be cool to see if Zoro fights him, just 'cause he was the first one we saw doing that.
Maybe, but I don't think Oda would show a thing like that in a teasing silhouette if there weren't a bigger reason behind it. I like that the singular image there opens up so many distinct possibilities. If he's a mutated Orochi SMILE, how hideously deformed might he look? I can't wait to see either way.
Orochi's absolutely a powerful swordsmen, yes. I think there have been 2 corrections to it, but the first trans we got for that one panel where the children praise his sword style is "Two-Sword Style", then it got 'corrected' to "Two-Face Style", but it's been edited in the official Japanese volume to be "Two-Sword Style" again. For this reason I don't think we'll see any dragon head sword-holding shenanigans, though I may absolutely eat crow on that.
As far as what it actually is - real, SMILE, or an Oda illusion - I'm thinking since it was silhouetted like that, and looks kinda goofy, that it's going to be a messed up SMILE version and the dragon heads are coming out of his body, perhaps from weird locations. I think he's gonna look kinda mutated.
I'm not in the "Orochi will be weak like Spandam" group, which is too large, either. Even if was just a samurai (which he is), he's a Wano samurai, which are respected fighters in their own right, so he's automatically leagues above a regular human like Spandam. I'm getting a gluttonous vibe from his laugh and overall personality so far, so that aspect of his personality may be what gets put under a microscope. But definitely not Spandam weak or Spandam-esque.

Well I didn't think Oda would tease me with a destroyed Sunny, only to explain it with one of the most blatant asspulls I've seen, even compared to Bleach.
Really, really, doubt someone with such a high stature would resort to eating a poor man's devil fruit, though.
Orochi could have a sword that ate a dragon Smile and sprouted many dragon heads. That would be neat. He could be weak himself but with an overpowered weapon
Also, Kyoshiro, with his hair style, is giving me some Sanji's antagonist vibes
Considering how awesome the other devil fruit weapons were?
Seems a waste for a country with fire katanas.
been rewatching Skypiea arc while waiting, I'm wishing Usopp to reject dial the shit of whoever gets on his way now.
This might've already been brought up, I'm not sure. But something that confuses me is that in this chapter, the paper lantern granny says Robin has been summoned to see Orochi, but in the chapter before this, those two that Nami and Shinobu were spying on said they don't think they need to bring a geisha and not to let anyone approach the sitting room.

They were talking about the current room they were in(and current time/day) since they were discussing some sensitive info and making secret weapons trade deals.

Or maybe he has a pet that ate a SMILE or a Zoan DF something since Oda hasn't played much with any pet-like characters except Chopper :)) … like Voldemort's Nagini or smth.
This was kind of an uneventful chapter to have a break after, huh?
While rereading Amazon Lily, I came across this interesting bit:
Which makes me think that if Orochi is indeed Yamata no Orochi, he's gonna be the real deal.
@S.C.:

Would you rather have it after a break?
Otoko i quite a huge event tho, best female character since timeskip.
I just now realized there's a peafowl image on Komurasaki's outfit(I don't know what it's called she's covering her arms with). And I know they represent elegance, gracefulness, longevity, etc.
While some think we saw the enemis of sanji and zoro in chapter 925( queen and king) I think we just got introduced to their enemeis on last page of thsi chapter. Sanji tends to get this type of enemies same way zoro gets swordmen, based on water 7/ EL, also his family. Kyoshiro seems to have rivalry with shogun too, the enemy of zoro. Yet they are not enemies if kyoshiro is in good relation with Queen.

Oh, come on, there was no way Oda would have allowed the Sunny to get obliterated like that. Hell, even one of the predictions about what really happened ended up being partially true, minus the Wadatsumi involvement. And it ended up being just part of a larger event that led to their successful escape (although it also meant Jimbei delayed staying with them yet again).
As for Orochi, if Kaido ordered him to consume a SMILE, I highly doubt he'd be able to say 'no', being a high-born egomaniac or not.

How about not even creating such a dumb cliffhanger to begin with. Come on, think a little bigger.
If and maybe.

Even if Oda has the next chapter Sanji giving up cooking food for cooking crack, Orochi's dragon heads were just a statue and he's actually a little gremlin, and Zoro gets a perfect sense of direction and finds the Road Poneglyph, 2018 will still have been one of the best years for OP. Since 2010.
I do hope we'll end with a dope chapter though.

It was me who predicted that Wadatsumi had the Sunny in his mouth. What I didn't predict is that the switched ship would be Tiger's ship (although it was the most obvious Option).
But we had such a desperate chapter ending at least once at the TB:
The Moment where the sun rose in the morning and the SHs without shadows vanished into nothing, only to be fully restored in the very next chapter. Oda rarely does this Kind of teasing.

If the Shogun really ate a SMILE, expect the most wacky SMILE-Version of the orochi-creature since the hippo-guy.

Really? I must not have seen that prediction. I saw ones similar but not that specific.
And hells yeah, that's what I'm counting on, I want to see a SMILE so warped it would make my stomach turn.

iirc, you were even one of the few who even gave me kudos to that. No, sorry, it was Maju I think. Igot confused, cause he has a franky as Avatar-pic.
Didn't know if it was in Spoiler 900 thread or ch.900 thread, but I found it:

that link Option doesn't work. you Need to copy/paste that link I'm afraid.
Wish that Enel-prediction became true
To the Orochi Point: if it's a Smile, each limb of the Shogun will be a neck for each of the heads. I drew a prediction of the (human) Shogun, but I didn't dare to share it, cause it looked too stereotype "traditional japanese". But then Oda showed us O-tsuru. I might post it today if I got time left at home.

Okay, that got me thinking one of the Orochi heads will also spring forth from his wang. I know we've already seen Holdem with a SMILE that affected his crotch, but an actual phallus-shaped animal coming out of one feels like a joke we'll see.
You think we'll get the chapter early this week???
