@Pennywise:
Not exactly sure what it is, but instead of getting excited by many of the new developments in this manga I'm steadily loosing interest. This chapter's surprise appearance of new humans (Possibly escapees that have formed into a tribe of some sort and are living in the forest?) is just one example of that.
Anyone else missing the complex psychological terror and mind games that were so very present back in the orphanage/farm days or the sense of wonder and curiosity that accompanied the reading experience when we were discovering the outside world together with the kids for the first time? I think ever since the conclusion to the Archduke Lewis fight this manga seems to have lost that special something, at least for me. Input on this is very welcome!
I totally agree. The first arc of the manga was one of my favourite starts to any series I've ever read/watched. It had a lot of mystery, suspense, psychological terror and mind games. Then we left to explore what the world was like beyone the orphanage, with all its dangers and all the natural rules of this demon world that Minerva had left clues for in his books. The they find the shelter and must confront the asshole waiting for them in there. And then travel again to a new site where they might find Minerva and end up in a hunting ground fighting for their lives against super powerful demons. But ever since, things have gotten a bit… stale? There were some very fast paced developments like in the Eye of Cuvitidala thing, with them infiltrating the demon world in a couple of pages, which was a missed chance for me. I liked Yugo's death as the culmination of his character development, it was very well executed, but other than that, I haven't really been feeling this series in a good while, unfortunately.
