EDIT: Now that I think back a bit there was one member who thought he would join and was very serious about it
I remember that. He had a sig with all the strawhats + Smoker and Tashigi.

It's not like with Franky, who we we hit on the head with ever since he first showed up (unmasked) and fought with Luffy, and in the span of less than a whole chapter, it was cemented. It's rare they aren't a shoe-in from their first appearance. Carrot's a pretty wasteful exception if Oda goes that route. Like I said, if he's intending on it, he's going about it entirely the wrong way and sending a lot of mixed signals. Even if she does join, that does nothing to quell the objections. It'll be the effect of Brook stepping on Zoro's swordsman toes, to the Nth degree.
Whose toes does she step on? Not a lot electrically charged brawlers with claw gauntlets on the crew right?

Ahh, I see. Keep forgetting that my methodology on this sort of thing isn't all that common (or at least, all that visible).
I'm a largely plot-focused individual, so I base my thoeries/speculation primarily on where the plot seems to be taking the character (and going in general), rather then spending much time focusing on design critique/comparisons and whatever patterns the character might happen to fit. That tends to leave me sitting in "Wait and See" mode for most of a character's story-arc, so perhaps I'm just noncommittal. :/
Hasn't prevented me from being wrong, though… I had better than even odds on Pudding and/or Reiju ending up with the Strawhats all the way until pretty much the end of the Totland arc.
Well plot based reasoning-wise, Reiju is still under Judge’s weird mind control stuff. Her leaving Germa would require a whole subplot of her somehow breaking that mind control. And Pudding plot-wise is on Lola’s radar of wanting to go out to sea just to find marriage and unfortunately the Story of One Piece rarely leans in that direction at all.
and Robby said he might because he was a logia and had a white color scheme and he's been around for a while….. but I never thought he was serious about it
Lol. No. Never seriously for Smoker.
15 years ago at a different point in the story, maybe there was an argument to be had. But the marines have their own subplot to deal with and he's one of the big names for fixing it.

I think it takes some real degree of confirmation bias to even assume that the first appearance of Franky told you inequivocally that he would join.
The character's position in the narrative had to do a 180° flip to make him a viable candidate after this first appearance. Just because a character is flashy doesn't make them a nakama. And just because people had vague preferences at the time based on design and personality doesn't make that case solid.
Now that we are at it, a very clear case of a character who wasn't obvious as a nakama from his very first appearance is Jinbe. The very first time we saw him he was on par with Ace, and then became an ally of Luffy. Him switching from ally for Ace's sake to subordinate mindset was a gradual turn of events. Robin's case wasn't inequivocal either, but the character was mysterious enough in that first appearance and any alternative of a future relationship with Luffy felt plausible.

Not so much saying as suggesting lol
I mean it's possible he'd join, but I definitely wouldn't bet on it
but for those who say Cyborgs and mad scientists fight the same I'd say go read One Punch man and you'll see that's just wrong
still grandfather and uncle figure are already taken and was really hoping for a third female member but I'm not gonna cross off the possibility entirely… I'd give vega punk joining a 10% chance of happening
EDIT: Maybe he has a super smart daughter... or or maybe he can make a female clone body and transfer his consciousness into her :ninja:
whatever the identidy of this person is, anyone capable of piercing people with the bones of his food is nakama material.

Just being strong is no basis to claim that someone will join the crew.

No, no. Impalling people with food is an ability lacking in the crew.

You think that's this prisoner's main mode of combat?
It's the main thing they've exhibited thus far, so why not? The coveted "weapon-ize food" role of piracy compliments Sanji very well.

Sanji's major mantra is to never waste food. Not that it's exactly what the mystery prisoner did, seems more like being capable of using anything as a weapon.
Bone spitter mystery man already sounds more interesting than Carrot. Sign him up.

Killing someone with something that isn't a weapon is a pretty common trope used to show how badass someone is. That does not mean that its their main weapon. John Wick's main weapon is a gun, not a pencil. Mihawk's main weapon is his sword, not the tiny knife he has in his necklace.
if the last crewmate was truly going to be introduced in Wano, it would be appropiate that he gets to be introduced in the first block of this theater-like adaptation for Wano.
and so, there it is:ninja:

Oda has been watching Daredevil season 3

Excuse me sir but there was already one character who could pierce with food and nobody wanted him as nakama.
Wanze is the original. Don't get so excited over the copy.
And you are not even right in that he's not wasting food, guys. Sanji would surely find some use to those bones.

Killing a mook of Kaido sounds like a good use of animal parts to me. Besides, you're both taking me too seriously.
In fact, with spitting power like that, a free man could retrieve the bone and spit it into another neck!
I just realised something:
The very first line we ever hear Carrot saying in the series is done with her looking through binoculars as a look out and she is also the first mink on Zou to have a line in the arc. A few panels later we see her floating as she attacks Zoro and a few panels later she performs the highest jump we’ve seen in the series in order to scope out the entire countries’ terrain.
I know people who say she didn’t have a strong introduction are probably talking about stuff like Franky’s water seven introduction but then she isn’t Franky so there’s that. What is definitely true though is that except the Dukes, she has the best Introduction of any other mink in the series and Oda deliberately fits all of this into one or two chapters and has Carrot stay in the background for the rest of Zou again because she’s a different character from other Strawhats

Yes, the infamous "lookout collage". It shows the frankly ridiculous amount of times we've seen Carrot act as a lookout. It makes it pretty ridiculous when people handwave the lookout role away as though Oda didn't clearly show her doing it in the manga.

If the prisioner turned out to use food as a weapon that would be ridiculous…. It would be like if... I don't know, Sabo ket using his steel pipe as a weapon after he grew up... Oh wait! :ninja:
Someone should make a collage of Carrot jobbing or doing nothing in the background or letting Sanji do all her jumping for her to really show off her crew mate potential.
Someone should make a collage of Carrot jobbing
I'm curious now. Has Carrot ever jobbed in an instance where the whole crew didn't job too? (Like when germa saved everyone at the wedding.) Although that doesn't really mean anything since Robin, Franky, and Brook all jobbed before joining too.
or doing nothing in the background
I feel like that would quickly turn into a collage of group shots of her and the crew, which doesn't exactly help your point.
or letting Sanji do all her jumping for her to really show off her crew mate potential.
She's clearly doing it for the lols, not because of any inability on her part.

It makes a bit more sense in Sabo's case. He's been fighting like that all his life so he's gotten really good at it. Ace and Luffy dropped it as their DF took center stage.

Carrot is still a higher jumper
Carrot is still a higher jumper
If Sanji does all the stuff involving jumping, including carrying Carrot over to Wano and out of Kaido's attack, then it doesn't matter if she can jump to the moon and back.
I have accepted that Jinbei and Carrot will join. I thought about it, and if we are to have 11, it makes sense due to how much time Carrot is spending with the Straw Hats. I'm not keen on Carrot but I won't fight it anymore, we are in Wano arc and already past %75 completion. Becomes hard to really believe a crewmate would come in so late, or would Oda do such a thing? Hmm.

You call that jumping but what Sanji is doing there is skywalking, which is the convenient thing to do there since they need to climb up a waterfall. He needed the first impulse from Luffy to do this "jump" so it's not like this feat helps your case xD

All you did was help my case by bringing up skyjump. That's a million times more useful and impressive than simple high jumping.

It's different. Don't name it skyjump, it's skywalking. Literally climbing up the sky. This is like blaming Sanji for not flying like Robin.
If you want to provoke and bait get your facts straight. And no comment on the fact he needed the impulse of Luffy I see.
things aren't going too well for her tho, she's not even the one holding the binoculars any longer, and the arc is going full-worst gens.
I know she should be on her way with Chopper and Kiku by now, but in the latest chaps she just stood there with the bunch along with Bepo, Little fat ninja and the Penguin bros, looked exactly like Kin and Kan thrughout Dressrossa, standing up doing nothing. Really seems like we're going the usal tag-along character treatment from now on.

Lol Chopper, Brook or Nami stood there in the bunch as well. Loving your cherrypicks boy.

uuh? I meant with the bunch of people around the SH´s, making her presence not unique at all.

Law's subordinate took her watch-out job when Drunkagon was approaching.

Same with the SH members that were there. Your cherrypicks are very funny, all the time.
Then again I get it, not much has been added to the character lately, so we can only resort to cheap baits and one-liners. Really the only thing that is left to say here is ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Law's subordinate took her watch-out job when Drunkagon was approaching.
Ah okay you meant that single sequence okay fine
You seem to not be aware that Law's subordinates have been in Wano for far longer and their job was basically standing there and doing surveillance all this time but okay fine

Funny how sharing panelling with the SH´s was super valuable until now that more people tagged-along, now is super not valuable… stock marketing uuh.

for the so called Watch-out of the crew, Oda wouldn't miss that chance there, but he did, for some reason. Avocado's collage just lost one panel tho :(

If you try to catch me on a contradiction I suggest you to mention something I said. And it's a very bad tactic to try to justify your absurd claims by calling out other people for supposedly contradicting themselves. You are not helping your point, you are attacking others. In this case, in a ridiculously misguided way.
for the so called Watch-out of the crew, Oda wouldn't miss that chance there, but he did, for some reason. Avocado's collage just lost one panel tho :(
The main reason why Law's subordinates are doing the watch-out job there is because it's what they are set to do, because they've been for longer, because they know the territory far better, and because they don't need to sit there listening to the plans, the backstory and everything the newcomers need to get to further operate. Your assumption that being a lookout implies being the one doing surveillance all the time no matter the circumstance or the plan is hilarious.

Skywalking, skyjumping, whatever. It's jumping no matter what nomenclature you use. Her jumping skills are redundant with Sanji around.

I really want the manga to move on because these cheap baity things are a bore.

last I recall, robin has a short time limit to her flight, and doesn't use it for agility or fighting anyway
Zoro, the man who will become the World's Strongest Swordsman and right-hand of the Pirate King. Nami, possibly the world's greatest navigator and who will make a map of the whole world. Usopp, a master sharpshooter and future great pirate. Sanji, the chef of chefs and who will find the legendary All-Blue.
Carrot…..she can look really far ahead!
Come on, guys.
@S.C.:
Carrot…..she can look really far ahead!
With the aid of an ordinary pair of binoculars, different from the ones Usopp actually has built into his design!
last I recall, robin has a short time limit to her flight, and doesn't use it for agility or fighting anyway
Last time I checked Sanji used his ability to move more or less long distances through the air, not to make use of it for agility or fighting. What Sanji does is going from point A to point B. From the ground to Wadatsumi's head. From the surface to deep in the sea. From Cacao Island to the ship. From the ship to up the cliff in Wano.
At this point it's not just that you are splitting hairs, rephrasing and trying to keep your initial statement afloat, you have already been ignoring stuff that is not convenient to your little scheme or bait or whatever you are trying here (like Sanji needing Luffy's impulse for his early jump). Do you want to retreat now? We can extend this for longer but I wouldn't recommend it.
Edit.- Sorry Amigo, I can only deal with two baits a day. Next time.

It kind of blows my mind it wasn't even last year we had a chapter where Jinbei showed how important he was by commanding the helm and saving them from the Homie-Tsunami, and the best role people suggest for Carrot is lookout….something that's already within Usopp's specialty!

Right. So for agility and fighting.

I mean, all other tag-alongs eventually got thrown away, like, they were still around but did nothing or did but off-screen, and it doesn't even happen slowly, just from one day to another they're no longer of any purpose so they're just there…
and Carrot's kind or getting said treatment as of now.
just an arc ago she was all over the place like 'me useful, shu shu! me does it' and now, she's just a Chimney playing around.
