Some info about the Wizarding schools in other parts of the world got released.
@Satsuki:
"Mahoutokoro." "Magic place." That's adorable. I wonder who Rowling worked with to name the school. Or if she just opened a Japanese dictionary. And yes, the article did botch the pronounciation. Bad.
I know that Mahoutokoro was first mentioned some years ago (Pottormore whn mentioning Cheery wands being valued there) but didn't get a pronunciation. I'm assuming that the article's attempt isn't official in the native language but a westerner's idiotic speaking of a language they don't know. I really don't know Japanese but after years of reading and watching manga/anime, I assumed it was pronounced as mah-HOU-to-koh-ro. Not some western slandering having "hoot" in there o.O
Worse is the one in Africa = Uagandou They really think its pronounced "Wag-a-do" ? Please, do we pronounce Unganda as "Wang-an-da"? I figure its something like "ua-GAN-dow"
"Ilvermony" is a pretty name. The maps aren't very exact on where the schools are. Just saying "Northeast US" leaves a lot of space, but who wants to bet it's in/near Salem, Massachusetts?
It looks like its in the right location for that. Though there is also the Salem's Witches Institute, which if we go by name is in Salem, Mass. but is girls only. So maybe Ilvermony is the boy's school.

As for Uagandou, the image seems to put in in the Congo basin, but when I look at maps, doesn't appear to be mountains there. There is a mountian range between the Congo Basin and Lake Victoria (which itself is west of Kilimanjaro (to the south) and Mt. Kenya (to the north). The mountain range is called Mitumba Mountains.
The one in Brazil is harder.
[hide] [/hide] WE can see the Amazon river at the top and the mountains on the left side that angle to southeast, also at top left is mountains that start to curve northeast. Going by that I'd say its in the far western side of Brazil, the part that's above Bolivia.
BUT there's mountains/hills in the middle. So maybe around the Mato Grosso Plateau
Mahoutokoro is interesting when we look at the image for the school then a map.

We can see the main islands then dots to the south that I'm assuming are Osumi, Okinawa ect. But the school seems to be to the east of Okinawa and west of the distant Bonn Island
So maybe we finally have a fully magical island in the HP verse.
