And Big Mom strikes me as weaker than dying WB. Although i do think Dying WB is the strongest yonkou we'll see except Kaido and EoS BlackBeard.

Kind of unfair to compare anyone to Rayleigh given he's a living legend as far as pirates go, and was the Pirate King's First mate.

Nothing to suggest atm that Jack holds the same position as Katakuri or Marco for that matter.

We know he's one of 3 Top figures in Kaido's crew, and if we're to take it based on information we've had so far, the other 2 are called Queen and King, who could very well be stronger than him.

Katakuri has been super impressive. Highest revealed bounty, he can see the future, and he's completely dominated Luffy the entire fight, and throughout the time we've seen him, he's always been the 1 member of her crew that has been on the ball every step of the way ( just about).

As much as i like Marco, we didn't see nearly enough of him, to show anything anywhere near as impressive of what we've seen of Katakuri.

And Big Mom has already shown what a threat she is and not to be taken lightly…dunno how u can make the conclusion she's weaker than anyone or her strength level relative to the others...

Rayleigh was 76 years old at the time of that fight, several years older than Whitebeard, he hadn't even been an active pirate for decades...yet he still more than held is own and caused problems for Kizaru...and swam the entire calm belt when he was ship wrecked to Amazon Lilly..

I'm exhausted and have been up for 30 hours, so the first thing I thought of when reading this was Rayleigh acting as an uber for people wanting to cross the Calm Belt.

The iron body seems to compensate for Big Mom's weakness of high metabolism. Because even though her defenses are ridiculous, she lacks a crucial ability many top-level fighters have and that's endurance - we've heard of fights lasting days on end, but Big Mom has weakened considerably after only eight hours. So to me it's a nice way to give a Yonko a different ability set other than simply being able to tank injuries. Though I do agree it could have been introduced before Bege; the anime included a scene where Brook couldn't cut Big Mom and it was very, very appreciated.

My guess is that should you deal a heavy blow to Big Mom, that'd have a considerably bigger impact on her since afawk she's never been defeated or even injured by an opponent in her lifetime. Whereas Kaido's immortality designation results from him actually being able to take these abuses and blows.

I dont think her endurance is much worse than others but in this state it is. Supposedly based on the towns talk of her rampages its not super common, like once a week seems a little hih so she usualy wpuldnt be afflicted and since she doesnt see, to leave, the chefs / homies would have the mterials ready to quickly make what she needed or have it already made

Not saying he's not strong, but that war didn't really show off any one from WB's crew real abilities, compared to what we've seen in Whole Cake Island arc with her crew.

There's no evidence to surely state the Marco and co were rookies. It has been stated a few times that WB and Roger clashed frequently and were of similar strength. At that time Shanks was a child but Marco was drawn as an adult and was portrayed as WB's 2nd in command in chapter 0 so it's highly likely that he did clash with rayleigh. Otherwise, WB would have to fight the Roger pirates powerhouses alone and that just isn't feasible.

It's possible that WB had a different 2nd in command back then so I won't deny that but Marco was drawn with the rest of the commanders like Thatch, Haruta, Vista and Jozu and no one of seeming importance was seen next to WB. Somebody would have had to fight Rayleigh when they clashed. This person was either an unnamed previous 2nd in command or Marco if he has always been 2nd in command.

And while the other commanders (including Marco) were drawn younger (because this was 20 years ago); Marco, as well as some others, seem to be adults and not children.

Plus Borsalino repeatedly gave him the Beckmann treatment for whatever that's worth and his speed was amazing.

What did we get from Smoothie or Cracker that was better than Jozu or Vista? Even Katakuri's power set doesn't outshine them. All have haki and DF aside from Vista (No DF). Katakuri has confirmed DF awakening and advanced haki (CoO and CoA) which the others also likely have but isn't confirmed. Also our earliest sightings of WB's crew are from when he liberated Fishman Island over 20 years ago right after Roger died. And there we clearly see that Jozu, Marco, and Teach looked nearly the exact same, even tho Teach was like 16-18 at the time.

I thought Marco had a pretty decent performance, especially how he didn't go down after being cuffed and blasted multiple times by Kizaru, given that he seems like a glass cannon without his regeneration.

Mihawk never got a chance to go toe to toe with White Beard, I mean he is the only other Emperor level combatant on the field right? Mihawk had to settle for Vista who we knew nothing of before the war and was the the lowly 4th Division Commander, not even in the top 3. Mihawk didn't even end up beating him or managing to land a cut.

I speak with sarcasm of course but that was the general vibe from the power levelers and people who just had this idea that Mihawk was on par with White Beard because of all the mathematic equations regarding Luffy and Shanks.

During their first meeting, Mihawk told Luffy that becoming Pirate King was a more outrageous goal than surpassing him. Already we were given the idea that what ever Luffy was to become was going to be a step ahead of Zoro.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't doubt Mihawk could have held his own against White Beard for a bit and make a good showing. Just like I don't doubt that Zoro(or Sanji for that matter) could hold their own against Luffy and have a very good showing. Ultimately though the Emperors and Luffy are in a league of their own. And before anyone jumps on me saying stupid things, Luffy VS Usopp.

My general idea of Teach's top 3 will be Shiryu, Jesus and… well the last one I don't know but I rule out Katarina, Lafitte, Doc Q and Von Auger for sure.

I guess that in a few years nobody will bother with the "big mom is a joke emperor" as much as now and new readers might find it baffling that some fans even thought that (then again, I could very well be wrong).

You couldn't be more right. It comes in waves, especially now that we have so much to compare current arcs to and especially especially since arcs last way longer than they used to. Characters get built up for years, over a decade for some and once we meet them expectations aren't met in the moment and crying goes on for a while. People then go back years later and then reading in one go realize things are often times a little or a lot better than they initially thought.

Every new thing is the biggest travesty or disgrace for some because perspective is lost over such a vast amount of time.

I do remember people complaining how Jack got 1 shotted against the giant elephant because he had a Billion Berry bounty. For a future antagonist he shouldn't have been made to look so weak, lol.

I disagree on that. I think the only way they look better is if u value how much focus they're getting. Becuz imo if u compare the feats they're establishing for themselves they don't add up. For instance Cracker can tank anything below Gear 4, do u think Jozu(3rd Commander), Vista(5th Commander), or Marco(1st Commander) could do that?, I do. Vista is the only one i think might not be able to.

I feel Mihawk got the same showing the other Warlords did. I don't know why but i feel the fandom likes to place Mihawk on a pedestal but imo he's on the same level as the other warlords. Moriah fought a Yonko but gets no love cuz he lost due to the plot(sudden case of stupidity). Personally i think the Impel Down Level System is the best way of powerscaling OP characters. With Yonko 1st Mates and Admirals as Level 6.5 and Yonko as a level 7. Luffy i say has moved from Level 5 to Level 6 and is leveling up as we speak.

She was clearly stated as the most dangerous female pirate to be imprisoned in Impel Down in the Pirate age - which means she's a top tier and very powerful pirate. Nami & Robin would get stomped.

I genuinely do not think Catarina would be that high up given Oda's usual girl vs girl fight (unless he upgrades Robin or Nami to be top-tier). I would gladly like to be proven wrong though.

We've had too many token "strong female pirates" in name only and Catarina is the token female Blackbeard member.

Up until we saw Smoothie ( not including Big Mom ), we hadn't even really seen a Top tier female pirate with a bounty that high. No reason to think given her reputation Devon is not top tier and a powerhouse of Blackbeard's crew.

I mean , Luffy could learn it in like a day , so why the other yonkou (even Big Mom herself) is just devil fruit+CoA powerhouse?

"Strongest female pirate" doesn't really garner much praise from me when the only precedent we have for female pirates is Alvida, Miss Valentine's Day, Miss Merry Christmas, Hancock, Perona, Bonney, Monet, Jora, Sugar, Smoothie, and Big Mom. That is not a good track record. And I doubt Devon was and will ever be near as strong as Linlin, or even Hancock for that matter.

Also, this Oda we're talking about. Do you really think he's going to pit her against one of the guys in a serious fight? We don't need another Zoro vs Monet or Usopp vs Perona. Or God forbid another Smoothie.

I bet Franky or Robin vs Wolf.

I like Brook vs Doctor Q more than Chopper vs Doctor Q or Brook vs Laffite, focusing on the death theme rather than the doctor theme.

And I've started to resign to the idea of Nami getting a 2v2 instead of a 1v1, for someone to tank hits for her, as long as she gets a fight.

Whitebeard may have had it considering how he reacted to Ace's assassination attempts and how he noticed Crocodile's attack but let Luffy stop Croc instead. Big Mom is a tank who rarely takes damage. And we haven't seen the full extent of the other Yonko's combat abilities yet.
