Another good chapter, and no break!
This fight is fucking awesome.
Also Oda is going full JoJo with Katakuri.
Man luffy rushing him was awesome .
Have to see how he is going to find a way around his CoA .
As people thought it was the fishman pirates that mess up the sea slugs .
And more people hear to the island for the final show down .
the donut attack was funny
Luffy will use mirrors to badmouth Katakuri - he will scream to random people through mirrors about Katakuris face and being shameless while eating. That would solve 2 things - it would throw Katakuri off his calm CoO use and it would make it so that Katakuri will want Luffy OUT OF mirror world as soon as possible, so their fight might finish elswhere.
Direction of this fight is kinda strange. I definitely expected Luffy to win it there by taking advantage of his weakness, but it just ended up being useless with an even more focused Katakuri now. Plus Gear 4th will deplete his stamina. Now sure how he's supposed to win this unless Katakuri has a reason to leave and not finish the job

Read my post above yours ;) Also Luffy might eat Mochi to prolong his Gear 4th.. Hopefully not but we will see.
I don't know if I am more impressed by how relentless Luffy got once he entered Gear 4th or by how Katakuri just got spanked by all that power and just got up like "deep sigh… ok, I'm back".
Pound hasn't seen his daughters since they were babies. Suppose Linlin just keep the guys around until she can use their genes and then send them away. Now I can't take Skadi's theory out of my mind, I can see Tamago deciding to become her underling so he could stay close to Smoothie.
Last ray of hope... Pudding keep being called that or am I mistaken? And it seems she is already comfortable enough to call Sanji affectionately without having to pretend to hate him right after.
great chapter, and early as well. awesome. agree with watchman. likely way it will pan out!

Usopp would make such a good little support cheer leader for this fight.
You got to love how Katakuri uses his powers. I enjoyed Oda's scaling here, it's not like G4 is blowing Katakuri away but G4 have effects on him and G4 is indeed powerful which will be more powerful once Luffy's Haki is at the level or more than Katakuri. And I love how Oda appease the Luffy fans here, yes it's tiring watching Luffy get his ass kicked but he assured us Luffy will win somehow.
Regardless how overpowered you are, the rules of CoO is still the same, speed and lack of concentration can overcome CoO. Btw, I don't think anyone has punched Luffy that hard in his life, I can feel his pain.
Just noticed that Katakuri regained his composure as soon as his head hit the ground and got up instantly. I suppose once he realized he was a fraction of second away from having his back meet the ground (the one thing nobody ever did to him), he realized he was screwing up and immediately forced himself back to his regular state of mind.
Luffy/Katakuri fight is heating up! Shaping up to be the best Luffy duel since Lucci, honestly. Moria, Hody, Caesar, and Doflamingo had their moments (and the Magellan fight pwn'd, but that was a different vibe, due to Luffy losing/escaping) but the Croc/Enel/Lucci fights were a hot streak of mad-decent Luffy boss battles, the caliber of which hasn't been seen very recently. Sorry, tangent.
Maybe Luffy will converse haki by leaving Gear 4th of his own accord and trying to break his cool again without it, so he can go HAM again as soon as Katakuri is vulnerable again.
Gosh, I sure hope Sanji gets a fight. Oven seems like he'd be pretty suitable, even if Daifuku already started something.
That spread of Praline singing is wonderful. More enjoyable than the Germa spread from a couple of weeks ago, since Praline is legitimately cool. I enjoy that Germa picture though, and it was worth it existing so that the visual theme can be carried over with Praline, here.
Whos is who in the corridor of power?
I have no idea how this fight is going to end at this point. Also, Sanji vs Oven? Was that ever a thing?
Damn, this and the previous chapter have been amazing for the most part! :D
I can't wait for the sea slugs panel in anime. Or maybe someone can make a colored wallpaper version of it? It just looks so good!
One page makes Praline the MVP.

If you notice he use his head so that his back won't hit the ground .
So yeah that clam him down right away lol .
This fight just got better, that Chikara Mochi punch was an awesome way to use awakening floating psychic fists? Man the creativity levels of awakening are really being showcased here it's not just change your environment into endless whatever so I'm really impressed by that. That punch that sent G4 Luffy flying looked like it really hurt. Katakuri went badass to goofy to even more badass didn't think that was possible and he's actually able to calm down instead of remaining hot headed even after getting pummeled usually bad guys get even more angry. Just…impressed.
I always liked Praline and now it's revealed she has a mesmerizing singing voice and you can see Alladin in the background just letting her do her thing lol.
Am i the only one hoping that for once the crew's blind fate in Luffy will get dashed ? Now that i've read this chapter, i'm confident that no matter how Oda spins it, i won't enjoy a Luffy win against Katakuri. The story calls for his defeat at this point, otherwise just hand him the crown already if his every opponent will end up defeated by an asspull.
Bah, i was hoping for better in spite of all the indications to the contrary.
Katakuri reminded me of Bayonetta.
Nice, an early chapter! I didn't hear anything about this, but it was nice to log on expecting spoilers, and instead being greeted with a full chapter :)
Ahhhh my god. More Praline, I just…I love her lol. I've been lowkey (or maybe more than that, aheh) obsessed with her since she showed up at the start of the arc. While I like Oda's character designs a ton, I'm not usually that attracted to his female characters any more (it's hard to find his lazy/uninspired female character designs that appealing to begin with - I do appreciate him diversifying some more tho this arc) but Praline's design was absolutely striking, and she's easily my ahem favorite One Piece 'waifu." Yeah lol. But to see her make not only another appearance, but to play a pretty important minor role, and to be singing an underwater tune with a whole double-spread page....I luuuuuv iiiit. Amazing chapter haha.
But yeah, besides that I quite enjoyed this as another transition chapter. The action in the beginning was pretty cool, and while I haven't been focusing nearly as much on the mechanics (in terms of observation haki & Katakuri's Mochi fruit) of this fight so far as some people, I liked how Oda finally adressed how exactly that was all working. Seeing Luffy get a bit of a beatdown in on Katakuri was satisfying, but I'm very glad that Luffy didn't just end the fight there and win in a quick burst - that wouldn't have been satisfying at all. This fight is really revving up, and after the hilarity of the last chapter I'm ready for the climax.
Was also really fun to see some more of the cake baking team, though I wish I got to see a bit more of the cooking/baking process, it looks yummy. We probably won't get as elaborate of a look at them until the decorating begins, but we'll see. Also it's nice to see some more Big Mom Pirates re-entering the fray, Oven marching in with his troops was definitely cool. I just hope that Compote, Amande, and Daifuku show up again relatively soon. I would hope for some more direct stuff from Mont-d'Or, Pekoms, and Tamago, but they're probably going to remain stationary for now & I like the role Oda's settled them into - I wasn't even sure I'd see the latter two again, so it's been nice to have them get a touch more focus.
Overall a pretty solid chapter imo.
whoooo…nice battle chapter....did katakuri smack his head hard to calm his mind lol
Nice to see that even his Black Mochi and his strength cannot defend against G4 attacks though. Like wise for Luffy with that last gut hit.
Luffy should be able to go to the next level of haki in this fight. We laready know he's good at Haki, so I can easily accept that he might level up during this fight. This way Luffy can at least take out a Calamity single-handedly in the future and land significant damaging blows to Kaidou.
If the cake is such a priority. Why isn't Streussen cooking it again?
The Sun Pirates finally paid off, so that's one plot thread over and done with. I'm expecting the Lion-turtle guy to also play a role in the arc before it ends.
Did Katakuri's back touch the floor? Now I'm more sure that Morgans will defnitely cover up what happened on Whole Cake Island and no one will know that Luffy beat Katakuri.

You're probably not the only one hoping for that, because people are very rarely the only ones to hold any given opinion. I'd wager that Oda's a lot more creative than you though, and creativity will get Luffy through the fight. If you and others aren't fine with that. Oh well.

He got injured after the Cake Chateau fell.

How will it be a ass pull ?
Did you expect Katakuri hax CoA not to have a weakness .
Yeah, of course Katakuri regained his composure and is now committing harder. We've yet to see him use all he's got. Luffy definitely needs some kind of a power up (and trickery like Watch says). After all, tough fights make him grow the most.
Regarding snails, same way they can't track ships that are leaving Totland, they also can't track ships that are entering. For some reason I have an ominous feeling about Totland.

I think I'm in love with Praline too, it's ok to let your love for her be known haha. She's amazing.
He got injured after the Cake Chateau fell.
I would expect a Yonkou to have someone with a healing Devil Fruit or Doctors who are good enough to revive important characters when they are urgently needed. or have some smelling salts lying around somewhere.
Its just amusing to me that the cake is actually being cooked in the most basic common way. I was not expecting that at all considering the entire arc is themed around food.
Luffy underestimated Katakuri for a second there and paid dearly for it. When peerless donuts started, he should have Haki up and prepare to take the attack, instead he thought it's mere mochi and he got hit badly without any Haki defense. That will hurt for a while.

Yeah he's more creative, but he's also bound by the genre's rules and the need to pander to his fans. That aside, if you find making an opponent that outclasses you lose his composure over an insecurity he just so happens to show you 5 minutes ago and then defeating him "creative", Oh well.

I believe the "that's just mochi" line was a joke because that move was named (and shaped) after donuts instead of mochi like every other Katakuri pulled out.
Watch-man's speculation sounds good. And it is within the "crushing your opponent's dream"-theme Oda likes to Display.
Oven could be G66-material as Sanji is still busy bakin the cake. On the other Hand they say fight fire with fire, since Oven is a heat-guy.
And those Donuts reminded me of a Chuck-Norris-Joke lol.
This explanation from Katakuri also explains how Aokiji and Akainu where able to dodge haki attacks in their logia form during the War at Marineford.
So they probably have haxed observation Haki aswell.
I think the only way to beat it (in the fair way) is to improve your own observation haki so that it cancell each other out.
While fire vs oven sounds fitting, sanji and oven should pretty much be immune to eachother-s powers so idk how that would ever work. luffy already fights a guy that mirrors his powers.
and note while sanji is there, jimbei and ichiji are going there too.
so You got ichiji, sanji, jimbei powerhouses on one side and oven, perospero going there and daifuku should show up too knowing that0s the meeting place of shs.
ichiji vs oven
sanji vs daifuku. yeah king pf perverts gets to fight the guy that uses his giant will of the D. to fight for himself.
jimbei vs perospero.
capone vs smoothie.
I maybe picked the wrong words for "crushing Katakuri's dream", what I wanted to say is, that Katakuri has put quite an effort
into his Reputation as "always dignified, never with his back on the ground, perfect human". Luffy will probably ruin this very Reputation of him like Watch-man speculated.
Hmm, Sanji vs Oven makes sense (IF it is what's happening later on). Boxer with oven fists vs Kick fighter with stove top legs.
whoooo…nice battle chapter....did katakuri smack his head hard to calm his mind lol
He smack his head to prevent his back touch the ground.

Having your protagonist win and save the day is in no ways bending the rules of the genre. Having a shonen protagonist go over a stronger opponent is in no ways pandering to the fans. It's 101. And when else would a "perfect character" show is insecurities? The entire time? I'm sure if he was broadcasting them for the whole fight, you'd find an issue with that as well. But yeah, I found last chapter to be rather creative and think Oda's going to come up with something to wrap the bow on this fight. That your mind says you don't want creativity says enough about your ability to even mimic objectivity when talking about this.
Dayum, Praline is big. How will she and Aladine bear children? Also good to see her back up her claims of defecting.
Pudding ia cute as always. Love Katakuri's donut thing.
Also this chapter shows again what level BM is compare to every one else .
Katakuri even with his better haki was sent flying with that attack and BM saw it as nothing .
The power up Oda will have to give luffy for kaido will be crazy .

Not really. Oven can only heat his body so you can't physically harm him. In other words Sanji is the perfect match since he can fire his legs but the rest of his body is still susceptible. I can see his hand's safety playing a part.
glad oda resolved the mystery of katakuri's devil fruit in a satisfactory way… it being a logia didn't make sense, but a paramecia that acts like a logia doesn't either.
but a guy that can just "dodge creatively" does..especially since we saw the same kind of dodging made by aokiji during the war if i remember correctly

i think his defenses were up,but katakuri's armament,being superior,bypassed them.
Is the King in the cover story the same King that showed up after Sugar's power was cancelled by Usopp?

Do not let Oda fool you - Sanji is not going to fight Owen. He will fight Daifuku.
Owen is first person to come to Puddings location and he respected Pudding wish(even called her little sister). If Daifuku would be there he would just smack open those doors.
What I think will happen is that Daifuku will come and storm the place. He and Owen will be about to attack Sanji but they will be able to reason with Owen(his trust/ respect to Pudding) and they will be unable to speak any sense to Daifuku as he will probably see that as Sanji wanting to poison Big Mom.
Then Sanji vs Daifuku round 2 will happen.
Hmmm, Katakuri's DF still raises a bit of questions about how much O-Haki can aid Devil Fruit abilities. Could Luffy achieve the ability to replace parts of his body with actual rubber? Looking forward to exploring the possibilities raised.
IDK but Oven beating up on Pound was actually pretty hilarious. If only they knew what was actually cooking in that kitchen…
Also, Oda definitely has a knack for bringing back characters like Praline and having them be awesome. I was beginning to wonder if Joscarpone had taken her place lol, luckily that was all rectified this week.

if we go by the JS translation it seem like he trick luffy with the donuts attack lol.
