Lol, maybe you all are right. Everything described about the place just made it seem like it was running without modern conveniences. Seeing as how though the city was built around a spaceship maybe they've adapted some of that technology. Plus, they've had some contact with the modern world a couple of times I assume so who knows what they've learned.

@Rogues':
What's made worse like salt on the wound is that Lewis Tan - the half-Chinese actor with extensive training in martial arts - applied for and was turned down for the lead role of Iron Fist, and his brief portrayal as the Drunken fighting master in episode 8 was actually one the most entertaining highlights of the entire season. This leaves me with a very disappointing taste of what could have been if they had cast differently.

That guy was so charismatic. Too bad. They really should've hired someone with martial arts experience.

@Rogues':
Goddamnit, Danny Rand sucks. His characterization just plain sucks. I'll get more into my thoughts later.

I missed this comment and I don't know how.
Wow, we can't truthfully tell from his drunken acting how he would have fared overall in Danny Rand's place but, hell, at this point I would be fine trying anyone else if we could go back in time. Lewis Tan left a far better impression on me in the short time he was given on the show. In Finn Jones's defense though he had the pressure of carrying most of the show on his back and more screentime to be criticized on so, again, can't really tell if Lewis Tan would've been a better lead. Still, what is clear to me at this point is based off of Finn Jones's performance and portrayal that he was not the right choice.

Finished watching Iron Fist.
I guess I enjoyed it, for what it was … and that's an important distinction, I think. This is set in New York, I wasn't expecting him to hang around Chinatown all throughout, but while Daredevil showed us the underground, Luke Cage the street life, each with its own identity, this one on the other hand had none, at least not the one I was wanted.
I was expecting more martial arts. Danny barely even uses that damned iron fist of his. I certainly understand the rotten tomatoes score. It's based on a thumbs up or down system, and I certainly wouldn't recommend this to anyone even though I found good things in it.
I'm really interested in seeing The Defenders now. Finn Jones was not good as Danny Rand. At times it was the writing, and other times it was his acting - his monotome voice, especially. And so I'm curious if he'll be any better in The Defenders.
But good lord the man is a buffoon. I get he's been living in a monastery and he may not realize people aren't familiar with the supernatural as he is, but so many headaches could've been avoided if he just learned how to explain things better. "Your favorite color is emerald! Only Danny Rand would know that!"
! I liked Ward cus the most because I understood his pain.
! And now Joy wants Danny killed. What the hellish hell is that? -
! I liked Ward cus the most because I understood his pain.
! And now Joy wants Danny killed. What the hellish hell is that?! That was kind of a 180 right? I know she loved her father and all but it was Ward who killed him (again), and when everything started going to hell after Danny's return she was one of the kinder people towards him. Understandably cautious and reluctant but still kind for her circumstances. Now her planning Danny's death is a little crazy and seems out of character especially since she spent the first half of the season questioning their negative behavior towards him and the 2nd half of the season caringly integrating him into the company.

! It is mot definitely jarring.
! If Danny hadn't arrived, then maybe her father wouldn't have showed up (unless he had another way of destroying The Hand). From there everything went in motion. And her life (which she loved) would've stayed the same. And for that she might've wished he'd never showed up, and in the spur of the moment hit him or something.
! But plotting an assassination? No no, I don't buy it. I've read that's also what she does in the comics, but she knows her father is not well.
! Regarding Harold, I wished he hadn't been responsible for the murder of Danny's parents. I was hoping he'd have a different story arc. One who was a good guy, but coming back from life changed him, unhinged him, and he descends more and more into darkness after each time he dies and comes back, all the while trying desperately, harder each time, to piece his family together.
! There could've been some tragedy there. A good man driven mad. A moment where he realizes what he'd become. But instead we got an evil drug selling guy, who simply became more evil with each turn. And that's not interesting. So when he dies, you can't even mourn what he once was. I liked the actor though. -
! since she spent the 2nd half of the season caringly integrating him into the company.
! That he then proceeded to almost run his father's company into the ground with zero business experience and idiotic naive idealism ("selling the drugs at cost"). Hell, the first four episodes were about him wanting to be a part of his company soooo damn much, then he spends the rest of the season dodging vital board meetings, leaving the Meachums to do all the damage control, and looking so annoyed and sulking whenever he's forced to show up!
I liked the actor who played Harold though.
I had a mini mind-explosion when I realized that he was Carl from Van Helsing lol

! One of those decisions he made she was pretty ok with because of all the good publicity. And even after they all got booted from the company she wanted to get all 3 of them back in. She kept saying "And Danny" so it still doesn't feel like she hated him and wanted to kill him.
-
Just saw some quotes from Finn Jones describing him getting his choreography 15 minutes before the shoots. If this is true than the director is to blame for his abysmal fighting performance.
-
The writer is also a tremendous ass.

I used to defend Finn's casting cause it was sticking with the comics. His acting was okay but he definitely didn't convince me he was playing someone with years of martial arts training. But if that other story is true it really does answer a lot of questions.

I didn't want to read because I think this desire to make Danny Asian is misplaced but I have no problem believing the writer is an ass.

Finally finished.
I will say there was no particular to not pick an asian-american or a black or whatever ethnicity for the role. Considering how far the whole place where he is suppose to an outcast is and how little important being white is given any ethnicity would work as long as the person was an american. Did I care that he was white? No. But I am surprise that marvel kept it considering the criticism and how unimportant it was.
I don't know if the actor was bad but I do think he was bland. But the biggest problem of the show is the impression that it is in constant improvisation. I said that it gave the impression that they just had bullet points for and a good part I stick to that opinion. The beginning of the show is not really interesting, lack any real momentum and barely give the viewer anything to latch on. The middle feels like the series is awkwardly flailing around with zero idea of what it wants and desperately try to stall. And the end is where there's an actual interesting focus story with some decent conflict in some cunning move to make you end the series on a positive note and trick you into thinking the whole thing is good.
The series is not awful. There's even some interesting idea. It's easy to put on the background and if you have nothing important it can pass the time but by no mean would I consider it good. To anyone that says it is good while I would say to consider if that opinion fits the series in his entirety or simply the last 4 episodes.
I think it was mention that it only exist for the defenders. I do not believe so since the ending calls for a follower up in many ways but even it was the case that is no excuse. Jessica Jones is a the most origins story of the four show with an ending that actually does not need a season 2. It is a series that present you a character in 1 season, close it's story in a way that does require a sequel while making important connections that will help integrate her into a future ensemble series. Yet it is still a really good series when considering themes, the villains, the protagonist, the struggles and the overall execution of it all.
Is it a recommended watch? No. Is it necessary watch for the defenders? No. Would it be a bad idea to watch it? No. Just make sure you do when you really have nothing interesting to do.
About the last 10 minutes of the show
! Fuck you Danny Rand. He stole the Iron Fist from his community and run as soon as his job became important AKA when the pass was open. So yes when you that the hand has taken over all I can think is "Fuck you Danny Rand you damn priviledged little boy that thing your cluelessness saves you from being responsible when you fail your responsabilities and crush people's ambition just for your sense of entitlement."
! It makes zero sense that Joy would be after Danny. Even in the previous episode she did not feel confortable playing with illegal money. ANd in this very episode it his knowing that her dad frame Danny that made her sever her ties to her dad. She could hate Ward enough to kill him(which she doesn't) but for Danny there is just no way. The only logical way that can go is that Joy is playing the guy.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
! As I said the season was not awful. They were some really interesting choices.
! One of those was how the hand operates and recruits. It was a nice way to explain how the hand can have so many resources and can be so far reaching. They grow children into a sense of family into the hand and place them into important institutions and places. It helps both place some questions on if the hand is that bad(considering Gao's is another branch) and provided some decent explanation and decent conflict with Colleen.
! It also tackled some interesting notion about brainwashing.
! At the same time it raise some question. Why the hell are there different part of the hand? For example Ninja Nobu operation was Gao or the forgettable guy? Or is it a third faction? How is Gao so powerful if she is renegade?
! Another interesting thing the series tries to do is give Danny conflict. Except it does it around episode 10. Around the end. By then Danny suddenly gain a brain that let's him think better and be sarcastic but also lose control of his fist he had no problem with. As I said it is an interesting take on the character but so close to the end it really feels kind of out of nowhere.
! Danny does a pretty poor job at being sympathetic. His constant delivery of mantra's would either requires more sarcasm which he barely does for the first 3/4 of the series or more gravitas/charisma which he fully lack. Most of the times he just kind of seems like a self-sufficient jerk incapable of understanding the notion of responsibilities.
! The writing is not much better. At first he wants to get his father's company but then makes a number of bad decision that really makes it hard to not consider that Danny simply does not think. In a similar way Danny abandonment of Kun-Lun is never explain in a compelling way. He seems to have left either for some vague reason or because he always wanted to go home. This make his supposed conflict of wanting to be worthy of the Iron Fist be hollow as he doesn't seem to be much attach to it except for his own pride. So it's really hard to cheer for him as the Iron Fist since it feels as if he has taken it for his own rather than be trying to wider the scope of the position he was given.
! The inclusion of Claire is really poorly handled(IMO). She is mostly the mandated apparition and only serves to make a connection between the defenders series. Her introduction is to convenient and involves to much exposition. Her lines are clunky especially during the middle of the series and for the most part it feels like she is there to make the connection as she has to constantly be referring to previous heroes or adventures in non natural way. There's also the notion that she is Danny's friend which is BS. She is Colleen's friend not Danny's.
! She was great in the last episode tho.
! Harold was a weird case for me. He literally went to every random villain cliche he could get in order to be memorable. While it was kind of weird and his death death was pleasant I was actually quite happy to see him back. I wanted Joy to get a chance to see her dad alive. Thankfully after his death crazy Harold was fairly entertainment to provide and I liked it enough. Somehow the worst decision about Harold was actually that he was evil all along. I liked the introduced by Ward that dying was what had driven him to become a villain/mad.
! But seriously if the person seems immortal the second thing you try is the head or total destruction. I am surprise you need the end to try that much.
! Joy was really a nice character. She was kind yet she was not stupid and was actually a really good business woman. Her connection to her brother felt genuine. I really felt like I was watching a woman at the top and I liked it. An interesting about the ending also is that while she is not in particularly good term with her brother she does not hate him and also push her father away once he tries to bs her about Danny. I liked that she never hated Danny when the writers could have easily decided to go that shitty way. She was really a solid character of the show.
! Davos reminded me the black magician guy from Doctor Strange except the reason for his change makes more sense since Danny stole the power of the guardian of his place and then left the place devoid of protection.
! Most Enjoyable Moment: Ward killing his dad.
In any other series I am sure I would have hated it. The big bad is about to get trap and suddenly the one that can take them out is dealt with by a minor incident. Any other series and it I would be bad. But In this one I spent so much time sympathizing with Ward and so much energy wishing Ward could find a way to get rid of him that every stab felt like a rush of adrenaline and a little more satisfying than the previous one.
! Best Iron Fist Punch: Wooden wall in China What makes that punch so good is Madame Gao's face. It is the one and only time we see her scare and I really love that. It proves 2 points: The first being Iron Fist is a force to be reckoned with if Gao is truly afraid of it. It's not simply a mild annoyance or trouble maker, it is a real danger. The second is that Gao's know that she has nothing to fear from Danny. As I said it is the only time that she shows any fear. As soon as Danny has proven that he is not willing to go as far as the other Iron fist before him Gao knew there was no need to be afraid anymore.
Best Character Development: Ward It is surprising considering how he started. That flashback from the first episode is still incredibly ridiculous but the work they put on him was pretty good. During the whole show you can see how much of a toll the whole Harold thing is taking on him and how it cause him to unraveled. The guy is so desperate at some point that he would rather lose 70 millions of a 100 million deal rather than stay. In such a toxic environment it is not surprising to see him get addicted to his meds or try to live the country to start a new life.
! Best Villain: Gao As one of those from the other shows it is not to surprising. However I think it is important to notice the work put on her. The show had some pretty shitty script and writing at many moments. Yet Gao managed to stay pretty consistently good. Her banters with Danny always make it feels as if she is in control. And that moment of fear in China rather than make her nonthreatening only help her feels even more of a grounded force once she is back to her usual self. One of the rare character that truly benefitted from the show.
! Best Cameo Character: The lawyer(no not Claire) I may have refused to remember how to write her name but she was certainly one of the highlights of the season. Every moment she is in is perfect. It makes sense that she is where she is. She remains consistent with her writing on Jessica Jones and her interaction with the characters are actually quite pleasant and well-scripted(at least on her end). With Gao and Ward I would say they are 3 that remained consistently good and benefited from the show.
Funniest Twist: Colleen realizing she has to kill Harold
After for once siding with Claire on how revengeful murder is not a good idea Colleen suddenly gives one of the most wtf conclusion ever by deciding that she should the one killing Harold so that Danny does not have to do it. Colleen delivery in that moment of realization is just superb. The moment is just made even funnier by Claire's reaction to it.
! Funniest Moment: Ward killed Harold (AGAIN!!!) It does not need much explanation it is just funny.
! Best Claire Quote:"You both are really similar and that's not a compliment"
Best Claire Moment:Discussion with Davos It is definitely the moment where Claire felt the most like herself outside of the last episode. I did not ppick the last episode since the moments are fairly short and this one is much longer and in much more simpler setting.
! Best Fight: Drunken master It reminded me that movie where Jacky fight in the drunken style. It's my ultimate reference when it comes to this fighting style. -
Finally finished.

Considering how far the whole place where he is suppose to an outcast is and how little important being white is given any ethnicity would work as long as the person was an american. Did I care that he was white? No. But I am surprise that marvel kept it considering the criticism and how unimportant it was.
It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. Cast a minority in a white role:
"OMFG! I'M SO SICK OF ALL THIS PC DIVERSITY BULLSHIT IDENTITY POLITICS BEING SHUVED DOWN MY THROAT!!!!11ONE!"
Cast a white man in a minority's role:
"OMFG!!!! CULTURAL APPROPRIATION!! EVEIL WHITE COLONIALIST DEMONS!!"
Marvel has kind off had to learn this the hard way. So from that perspective, if I was a casting director, I would either hire Dwayne Johnson for every single role ever, because he can pass as anything. Or, I would just religiously cast every single actor in every single role as the character's ethnicity. Like I would go to absurd lengths to make sure that the character is on the spot the exact same. So if Danny is like 5 % swiss, I wouldn't rest until I found somebody who is also 5 % swiss.
I'm joking of course, but I just don't see why casting directors do this shit all the time. Like my god, you know people will bitch and complain, just give the role to the person who looks the most like the character in question.
-
I'm a bit late to the party, but I recently started watching Iron Fist. I'm four episodes in now and, honestly, I'm enjoying it. That said, I do understand why people have been less receptive to this series. The first episode in particular was kind of slow and repetitive, and the writing can be pretty weird/dumb at times, but I still don't think it's that much worse than any other Marvel series we've seen so far.
And I don't care what anyone says; the end of episode 2 was fuckin' cool
-
Actually it's kind of important for Danny to be a white man if you're gonna have him be besties with Luke and do Heroes for Hire. Their different races AND social standings together make for a far more interesting dynamic than if they are both minorites. There are years of history with these 2 in the comics that you either have to throw out or re-imagine if you change his race. And I for one don't want that to happen.
So while I understand the core concept of the problem with Iron fist from a race standpoint, I'd rather them not change him from the comics character we've come to know, and instead be more mindful of not writing characters like that in the future.
Example, James Bond was misogynistic as FUCK, and a Alcoholic. But he's a beloved character and those are flaws of his due to being written in an different time. Changing him to a modern day feminist who doesn't promote drinking or drugs of any sort is something you could do, yes, but for fans of his character that'd be a dissapointment and as I said earlier, I think it'd be better to just create better, more socially minded characters in the future, like they did with Ethan hunt and Jason Borne.

Eh, I disagree. You can easily have an interesting friendship dynamic between an Asian man and black man that can be made just as compelling/entertaining as a white and black partnership. Look no further than the Rush Hour trilogy to see how the clash of cultures and/or personalities can make for some great material with longevity. Plus, an Asian and black friendship is not a pairing you usually see in tv, comics, and movies so it'd be something uncommon and different from the usual.
I do recommend The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete if anyone is interested.
I also wouldn't see a problem with re-imagining the character as Asian-American because it's not like the storyline only works if he's white. It could just as easily be a fish-out-of-water story involving a rich Asian kid from America who knew nothing about the culture he crashed landed into. A tale of self-discovery is still there.
At the same time though I'm ok with The Iron Fist being white. What I ultimately care about is the character being done right. In this case, it was not.

Defenders teaser
Rumor has it the number on the camera footage at the end is the release date.
-
I have a feeling that Danny might get his mask from Matt in the Defenders. Particularly because of how Daredevil's bandana mask in his first costume is the exact same type of mask Iron Fist wears. And Marvel keeps saying that Iron Fist's origin story is sort of split between the first season of his show and Defenders.

Agents of Shield S4 Ep16, What If…
! …everything was about as bad as it could be?
! A Hydra controlled world is very clearly a paranoia-fueling, surveillance-heavy dictatorship. Almost a little bit too much ('Yeah Inhuman, we can kick you if we want to!'). Once we get to the characters, it works better. Ming-Na Wen gives us a different take on May with a few small acting choices. Coulson might have actually missed his calling by not becoming a teacher. The propaganda is unfortunate but he's selling it. Fitz is just creepy now but he's still doing it all for his lady.
! Director Aida leaves me wondering. She is the same as she is on the outside and conscious in both realities, I assume. And she of course has control over the Framework. So much control that it seems improbable for anybody to escape it as long as she's working against them. And then she and Fitz are an item. I feel like she must have done that intentionally. Because she wants him tightly on her side and/or because she wants to feel like a real girl. I'm not blaming her.
! Ward is a double-agent wherever he goes as pointed out by Simmons. The theory had been circulating so it wasn't too surprising that he had been helping Vijay (Hey Vijay!) and it will probably be quite fun for the story to have him be resistance. If I'm getting this right he only joined once he figured out that Skye was an Inhuman. But I'm not sure that makes sense because how long can you keep that a secret? Anyway, with him on the side of the 'good' guys and Coulson remembering Daisy, she and Simmons are suddenly not as hopelessly lost anymore as they were when their wake-up device wasn't working.
! - The Hydra world is drab. Like real drab. Like Agents of Shield drab.- Mack? Does anybody care what you're up to? Are you the only one whose Framework life is actually better than the other one?
- Edit: Mace, too. I guess I forgot about him myself. :ninja:
- 'You're not even real, you rogue piece of code!' - Jemma Simmons, high school bully
- 'Yeah, I dug myself out of my own grave, not the biggest deal' - Jemma Anne Simmons, Slayer of bald Hydra goons
! PS: I caved a few days ago and watched the sneak peek which was the first scene with Ward and Daisy. Here's my thoughts at the time:
! @Huschel:
! > I don't usually watch these sneak peeks because I want to be surprised but god damn, it's been 6 weeks and I needed my fix.Ward doing the hand gesture was adorable. He's undoubtedly a piece of manure in the real world (or used to be) but I'm totally okay with him staying this cute in the Framework. I think it's likely too just to shake up Daisy some more.

a new Marvel series called New Warriors has been announced
Marvel’s New Warriors is about six young people with powers living and working together. With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world … even if the world isn't ready. Not quite super, not yet heroes, Marvel’s New Warriors is about that time in your life when you first enter adulthood and feel like you can do everything and nothing at once – except in this world, bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.
Kevin Biegel, the Scrubs writing alum who went on to co-create Cougar Town and created FOX’s Enlisted, is near a deal to serve as showrunner on the series, says THR.
Squirrel Girl/Doreen Green is the only confirmed character so far.
I'm just excited to see a live action Squirrel Girl in some form.

Agents of Shield
! Quite the head turner. Would be nice to know what happened to the Avengers. Ward creeping on Daisy in the beginning was scary. Where are the Hydra leaders from the regular world? Guess they're just hanging out somewhere else.
! Coulson snapping out of it first makes sense. The guy had his brain screwed with before. Not sure how Daisy and Jemma are gonna snap the others out. Guess Daisy may get her hands on terragin (sp) and get her powers back. Oh! Maybe they'll fish pill this world or something similar. At the very least they'll have to take out Matrix Aida. Even with Coulson back they can't get him out until Aida is dealt with.
! Fitz looks good but what an asshole.Agents of Shield S4 Ep16, What If…
! …everything was about as bad as it could be?
! A Hydra controlled world is very clearly a paranoia-fueling, surveillance-heavy dictatorship. Almost a little bit too much ('Yeah Inhuman, we can kick you if we want to!').Don't mention Trump. Don't mention Trump. Don't mention Trump.

! Yeah, didn't get how Ward hid Daisy either. Guess he's just too awesome, ha.

Danny Bland and his Copper Palms were quite underwhelming. Maybe they should've made Colleen the main and cut down on all the Danny screen time.
-
Agents of Shield, S4 Ep17 - Identity and Change
! This world has properly sucked me in. In parts that was thanks to Mack and his daughter whose different perspective helped enrich the Framework reality. I care for him a lot more right now than during most of the rest of the season. I wonder if he'll make it back or if he'll want to make it back. Even if Hydra keeps existing, he may not leave behind his child.
! Mace is an Inhuman but Simmons isn't particularly interested in him. I assume his powers are what his fake-powers were. He doesn't really get anything to do this episode but at least he shows up. And Simmons has other issues to deal with. Like trying to keep her eyes rolling out of her head while Ward is talking at her. Or dealing with Fitz being deeply under (Madame) Hydra's thrall. She's so over it all in the end.
! Skye tries to Captain America her way out of a Hydra-controlled building but unfortunately she doesn't quite make it. Wait. Hold on a second. What is Fitz going to do to her? I'm suddenly unsure whether they have already found a way to reverse Terrigenesis. That would be quite the bummer. I really wouldn't like Daisy to lose her powers. That would only enforce the swan song feeling of these episodes. After only 2 of 7 (?) Framework episodes, it has already turned into such an epic story that is so at odds with a lot of things from the show we had 5 episodes ago. In a grand way. But it makes me uneasy at the same time.
! Questions (and some answers):
! - How does Mack know to use the name Daisy Johnson? Did Madame Hydra give May that intel? But apparently she isn't even aware of Daisy being in the Framework or she would have just have her arrested immediately.- Why didn't Ophelia shoot Agnes or Radcliffe before they could ruin it all? Maybe she can't harm Radcliffe because that's still her directive but Agnes? Did she want Fitz to do it?
- Why couldn't Ward shoot Madame Hydra? She's higher up than Fitz anyway. Maybe it wouldn't have killed her assuming she still has a mechanical body (which…debatable?) but electrical sparks might have helped convince Fitz.
! More notes:
! - Ophelia is so interesting. I'm not calling her Aida anymore because she really isn't. She talked about returning to the other side so that means she uploaded herself into the Framework with the Superior guarding her body and everybody else's. Which probably means that she fixed her own regret of not having emotions. She certainly seemed to express several in this episode. Does she have a human body?- Sadly, I'm not really feeling her relationship with Fitz. Maybe Fitz's new character is too distant and closed-off in general to make it work.
- Coulson makes his own soap! I was expecting more conspiracy theories after that but maybe that will come next episode.
! Edit: Ooh, all the thoughts about the Framework being a real, different dimension in the same way that Eli couldn't use the Darkhold to create matter but only transport it from another place. That would make all of this even juicier.
-
Agents of Shield, S4 Ep18 - No Regrets
! I suppose Mace has had death written all over him for half a season now. But still. I would have been fine with him staying around. :(
! What an evil episode. You give us Tripp and let May have a change of heart. And then you let Mace sacrifice himself like the hero he never was in the real world. And then Daisy undergoes Terrigenesis! I was hoping for that once we saw they had crystals right there in the Triskelion. She better have the same powers or this will be frustrating.
! I am happy about May's decisions in this episode and it was executed pretty well. It's always going to be about kids for her. She was just standing there with her weapon half-raised for quite a long time and then she just wants to bring down the whole organization immediately. But whatever, I'm on board. Let's do it!
! It took me a minute to realize that we were being introduced to Fitz's father because he seemed rather bland. But their little talk cleared up how Fitz became what he is if we still needed to know. Radcliffe helped too by saying that anybody is capable of anything under the right circumstances. Oh hey Ward, how is your life? I am loving this maybe-redemption for his character. Or it's not so much redemption for his character because his character was evil. But for his human existence if that makes sense? For the person he used to be before Garrett (or even before that). The one he could have been. Jemma is coming around and she is probably hating it. On a similar note, she is starting to feel for the Framework population. They will have to kill an entire world just so thesevensix of them can get back to theirs.
! I hope we get a better reaction to Tripp by Simmons and/or Daisy next episode. Oooh, especially by Daisy. He never got to see her Inhuman powers because…you know...he kinda died...kinda because of them, kinda. Anyway, he has pictures of an Inhuman eradication machine and I can't wait to find out what it actually is.
! Assuming that Daisy and maybe even Radcliffe can flee and join the Resistance along with May, what's on the agenda?
! - Rescue Fitz from himself (Simmons, Coulson)- Stop the Inhuman Eradicator (if we care about programs getting deleted) (Daisy, Ward)
- Find the exit Radcliffe built into the Framework (Mack, May)
! They could be wrapping up this arc in the next two episodes easily. And then we go back to the real world for the final two? Aida is still conscious there as has been made clear at the end. When she disconnected Jeffrey Mace. ;_;
! ---
! - 'This isn't what I meant, you sadistic witch!' - Great gag but man those walls are thin. The guards next door can hear everything Aida is saying. It's fine though, worth it.- 'I cant believe it. The blatant lies, the complete disregard for historical or scientific fact.' Hmm, I don't know what this reminds me of. Any idea, Nectar? :ninja:
- Shoutout to the Hydra agent who was totally confused by these unauthorized corpses but hey, he hadn't seen a good corpse in a really long time so why wouldn't he unzip one of the bags with a look of bewilderment on his face? Also, there is a total of five agents in that facility with a badly guarded fence.
! Edit: I just came across the best fandom joke about this series again. Tripp never died, he just got Inhuman invisiblity powers. It's simultaneously funny and sad which makes it so good. And now they'll figure that out in the Framework and then find him in the real world. Obviously.

Episode 18
! "Nevertheless she persisted"
! That may seems like a weird complain but Radcliffe should have said bitch.
! It was a pretty good episode. I continue to appreciate the framework arc and the question it raise about what is real or not. I wonder if they will leave Orphelia there. I kind of wish they will so that she can have a happy ending(kind of).
! For a moment I though Fitz was talking about Simmons when mentioning the woman. I'm glad he was talking about Agnes. I don't need Fitz turning good that fast. I guess raised by his father he smother any kindness that was in him.
! I did not see Mace death coming at all. I expected everyone from out of the framework to make it back to their own world. I'm glad he got to die as an hero.
! Now that I think about it I wonder if Jemma if Jemma will try to trick Mack into going in the real world rather than tell him the truth.
! Next week Quake is back.Agents of Shield, S4 Ep17 - Identity and Change
! - How does Mack know to use the name Daisy Johnson? Did Madame Hydra give May that intel? But apparently she isn't even aware of Daisy being in the Framework or she would have just have her arrested immediately.
- Why didn't Ophelia shoot Agnes or Radcliffe before they could ruin it all? Maybe she can't harm Radcliffe because that's still her directive but Agnes? Did she want Fitz to do it?
- Why couldn't Ward shoot Madame Hydra? She's higher up than Fitz anyway. Maybe it wouldn't have killed her assuming she still has a mechanical body (which…debatable?) but electrical sparks might have helped convince Fitz.
! -I think that is the point. To see if Sky have been replace by daisy Johnson.
-She made an agreement with Radcliffe so they could both function. No reason to make Radcliffe an active threat. If you are talking about their discussion I think it would be to suspicious to kill her in front of Fitz as if she was hiding something.
-They didn't about it I guess or no clean shot.! Edit: Ooh, all the thoughts about the Framework being a real, different dimension in the same way that Eli couldn't use the Darkhold to create matter but only transport it from another place. That would make all of this even juicier.
! I think the framework being another dimension would be detrimental. Something like Jemma remarks about how it does not matter because it is a bunch of binary code or is the emotion real if you think you feel it(like the LMDs questions). Or things like Mac having to decide to leave her daughter behind or the changes that one decision can make become much less strong if it another dimension with real people.

Agents of Hydra Episode 18
! Thank God (of Thunder) there was some hope in this episode. I couldn't take much more of the constant kick in my butt of feels.
! TRIPP!!!!! I avoid spoilers so that was a welcome surprise. They have a back door out and Daisy is getting her powers back! Hope Radcliff told her where the team's bodies are.
! So, the formula is: (Fitz + Ditz [Daddy Fitz]) - Jemma = Hydra Fitz.
! Mac and Fitz are gonna get PTSD like a motherhugger when this is over. Still better than poor Mace. Yeah, he went out a hero but I wish he stuck around longer. And we still don't know what happened to the Avengers. Guess that's a future comic con question. Do wonder if they will erase the Faketrix. Radcliff is alive there, if anything they could keep a piece of it around for him cause I doubt they're gonna give him a robot body. Screw that!
! Almost forgot, that part with the kids being brainwashed was funny. They were trying to go for the Clockwork Orange force to watch way but it looked like they had duct tape on their faces.- 'I cant believe it. The blatant lies, the complete disregard for historical or scientific fact.' Hmm, I don't know what this reminds me of. Any idea, Nectar? :ninja:
I tell you, my friend. These episodes are hitting so close to home I can see it from my window. Hope it wakes people up to what's happening in our Matrix.

Official Trailer for Cloak & Dagger, a new upcoming Marvel televison series:
I think I saw Kevin Bacon there (as a corrupt detective?) so looks promising, BUT the trailer implies that the show will focus quite heavily on teenage drama, and might be light on their actual super-powers/war on crime; which would be a disappointment. Additionally, it's not a Netflix-produced marvel show, but then again Iron Fist was and that sucked, so….

Cloak and Dagger looks pretty good so far

Agents of Shield, S4 Ep19 - All The Madame's Men
! The title sounded like a reference to me and now I know it refers to Humpty Dumpty who fell out of an elevator and had his spine broken. And yet Ophelia's men are probably very capable of fixing that under her guidance. The Darkhold machine has been constructed to create living matter. I remember thinking about that when Eli was in possession of his powers so this whole theme has been here the whole season which is very cool. And oh my god, does this open up a lot of possibilities. I for one welcome our new and improved Ward entering the real world.
! There were two moments this episode that really got to me and one was surprisingly a scene between Ward and Daisy. It was an impossible talk about their relationship in this world or the other and about Ward's path and the potential for him to be a good man. It's ridiculously complex but still works.
The other moment actually also involved Ward. It's when he gets informed that there are people out there fighting for them against Hydra. It was close to being too cheesy but these things are always pretty powerful to me. And one can only hope that this show is not just preaching to the choir but is also leading to some people questioning their choices in the real world.
! Jeffrey Mace got an appropriate amount of grieving from Simmons and Daisy which I appreciated. And the latter was also really happy about finding out that Tripp exists. Is he also going to switch over? Probably not. Will Hope? That's also highly questionable just because it would eliminate a lot of drama. So I'm guessing they won't have time to really think about it but somehow Ward will end up in the machine. I don't think he'll just take Aida's place because she needs to accomplish her goal and become a human. Possibly with invulnerable skin and superhuman strength.
! There's one more episode left than I thought last week, so three to go now. I still think we'll be out of the Framework by the end of next episode. Or at least somebody will be. I'd like to see more of Yo-Yo. Have they been trying to locate the submarine all this time? That should be thier prime directive. We'll probably find out next week. -

! Ditz is annoying as hell. All that misogyny,
he's like the Eiichiro Oda of Hydraville. The fights this episode were fantastic. Aida getting blasted out the window…lip smackin' good! I do wonder what the hell happened to the two goons beside her. Guess they Noped outta there. Also, how come no one is questioning how she survived that fall? Maybe she took over Wile E. Coyote's body. Man, I hope someone redubs the scene with Looney Tunes sound effects. At least give me a Goofy scream.
! SHIELD didn't have an official second in command? Come on. Daisy hit it home for me, May killed Mace. One more regret in a long list the team will have when they're free. Radcliff may get his body back in that machine or maybe bring back Ward. If the show was smart they'd bring back Tripp.
! Coulson was on fire this episode. He's basically back. Keep it up AOS you only got three episode left this season.@Rogues':

! How do you feel about the possible return of Ward? I'd almost like to have Tripp back more because of the levity he brings but I won't be mad about having Brett Dalton back. He's just so good and such a nice guy. Could be both, I guess, but then that would lessen the impact.
! Maybe the shocking twist this finale is that Ward will not return. Almost nobody would see that coming! -

I won't have a problem with it because I like this Ward but soooo much of the series has been about Ward I want them to focus on other things.

Agents of Shield, S4 Ep20 - Farewell, Cruel World
! That was surprisingly and somewhat disappointingly easy. Some foot soldiers to protect the portal. Some lava to cover it. Nothing Daisy can't handle. No Ivanov to be seen when Coulson wakes up. At that point there should be no more inhibitions preventing the Superior from killing Coulson. I was worried about him for a second when he got shot though. About Simmons, too. And of course we lost Mack, at least for now. The only way for him to come back is for them to create Hope in the real world or for her to die in the Framework. Probably neither will happen but I'm not quite convinced this is the end of his story.* On top of that there was no real turmoil within Daisy or Simmons about leaving Tripp, Hope and others behind. They acted totally logically for the most part. Which is…fine.
! Let's end with a good thing. I love seeing Fitz in emotional distress. Sorry about it. What will Ophelia do to his fragile mind now? And also, why is she Nightcrawler?
! *Alternatively they could just wake up his real body or disconnect him from the Framework on that end. I always thought that was possible but the show doesn't make it look like it is.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I take this title change as a personal affront.
Kidding, somewhat. :pouty:

Defenders Trailer:
-
The way Danny says "What are you talking about?" just feels so off to me. There is a child-like innocence to it; he is seemingly the only one who's actually into it. But, I don't know, less is more?
I do look forward to it, but the trailer didn't give me anything other than "Here are these four superheroes fighting together, enjoy."
Hopefully they have Daredevil level fighting choreography. Some shots in the trailer look off. Too staged.
-
I'm looking forward to more Jessica Jones. And Matt Murdock. I feel like he'll be more fun in this show than he was in Daredevil S2.
-
That looks pretty good. I just hope that this is directed by the guy who directed DD season 2, and has good fighting choreography/cinematography. And please don't have the guy who directed Iron Fist to be involved since IF was a massive disappointment that i dropped after 8 episodes, and didn't bother finishing it.
This is gonna be their final chance to make Finn Jones/Danny Rand into something interesting, and likable rather than whatever mediocrity he was in the show.

You should have watched episode 9. It's probably the best episode out of the season because of Madame Gao and one more character. But I don't blame you at all for not finishing the season.
-
I was one of the biggest defender (no pun intended) of the series, and was hoping that, despite the controversial, and despite Finn Jones saying really dumb things, the show will be at least provide interesting character-journey for Danny. Instead it ended up being so…....boring, and uninteresting. It felt like Arrow, for a lack of a better word, albeit not having any forced romance.
And yea i know about the spoilers, and what goes down in that episode, but i generally ended up giving no fuck about it. I might go back, and finish it just for the sake of it, but at this point, i have no desire to do so.

I understand.
! I just really like the fight with the drunken fist guy. He's probably the best character in the show. In fact, I wish he was the main antagonist lol.
-
Oh yea lol, that fight was pretty damn cool. Sucks that he didn't show up for the rest of the show.
Also i would say that the antagonist of Iron Fist was interesting on paper, but the execution wasn't very good. I can see where they were going with him, and i would've loved seen it executed better, but yea it fall flat because of the direction, and execution. In fact i genuinely think that the show had lots of stuff that was good on paper, but crumbled because of the lackluster direction/execution.
-
I finished episode 11 of Iron Fist and I gotta say that I am sad it hasn't really gotten better. I did like it's start and it had some promise, but it's fallen flat by this point and I just don't think the last few episodes could make up for it :( which sucks because I knew nothing of the character and was really excited about the show, much like I was with Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
But Defenders? I'm excited! Particularly, I want to see the dynamic between the 4.
I take this title change as a personal affront.
Kidding, somewhat. :pouty:
I do want to get into Agents of Shield, as I hear the later seasons are great, but the first season hasn't really done much for me and I hate to think I have to slog through a whole season to get to the good stuff :/ it's one of those series that I think I'll get to once I'm caught up on everything else, but I don't think that will be for a while.

! Agreed. It wasn't as strong an episode as the last few. The Simmons/Ditz scenes didn't work for me. Simmons is smarter than that. But, I guess it was a plan made out of "love". And yeah, Huschel, I don't get it either. If Radcliff can be pulled out unexpectedly, why not the others? Get at least one out then have that person unhook the others. Bam! Problem solved.
! So, does that mean they don't unplug Mack? Who knows. It's a lame way to keep someone in the framework. Poor Yo-Yo, you better unplug him. He'll get over it, maybe. Love the Tripp/Daisy interactions.
Poor Fitz, get that guy a beer and some ice cream. Looks like Aida didn't just get a human body. She upgraded. Inhuman?"Defenders Trailer:

I'm excited, well, happy. Iron Fist sneezed on my Defenders birthday cake hype. Hope the character is used better there.

A few season 1 episodes I thought were already very good like episode 6 or 13. And everything with Ruth Negga in it. But I also enjoyed a majority of the rest of the season. So if that's not the case for you, then I can't blame you. It's just very frustrating that I have to hope the show gets renewed when it has some of the best actors and storytellers right now. The weakest part for me in the beginning was the dialogue but that has gotten better, too. Now the only annoying part is the general drabness of most of the sets but I guess one gets used to it.
Anyway, I hope you'll like it when you get back to it.

It was bound to fail. The resistance must be in total disarray without Mace, too when anyone can just leave whenever they want.
! Ophelia seems to have seriously upgraded herself. The common theories are that she can teleport thanks to Darkhold powers or that she tinkered with Inhuman DNA. The latter is more likely to me and also more interesting. Should be fun. -
Mack you stupid moron.
-
Mack you stupid moron.
Eh I mean I get where he is coming from. Right now he literally has no memories of his former life and is told to pretty much let his "daughter" "die".
The stupid moron here is Daisy for not lying to him to get him through the portal or knock him out and throw him in. Better deal with the argument after he is safe rather than let someone die because you're going to respect their decision. It also bothered me considering she never mentioned Yo-Yo to Mack. She mentioned in a general sense how he had people that loved him in the real world, but outside of Daisy(and maybe Fitz in season 2), Yo Yo has had the most time spent with Mac.
-
Yeah, Daisy should've said Hope was alive in their world. She would've been fine with Tripp.

Start with episode 16, when Hydra comes in. That's when it started getting good for me.

Daisy was willing to leave Fitz behind for the time being so maybe she was hoping to get back to Mack later as well. Still, she had already lured him there under false pretenses so yeah, I 'm with you. Quake him into that portal. He is in no condition to be making an informed decision.
Not mentioning Yo-Yo makes sense to me because the name doesn't mean anything to Mack. Just tell him that his real daughter is waiting for him in the other world…Here is a question. Do you think they could have just jumped into the lava, endured horrible pain and then woken up in the real world physically intact?
(I should write more stuff outside of spoiler tags)

I just hope Iron Fist and Luke Cage end up having that J.D and Turk type bromance they have in the comic books and that we get a hero's for hire season with them two being best buds
seriously though best comic book bromance ever
