Okay see that information actually helps, especially stuff like number 5 and 9.
Log Horizon

I discovered the anime and I am happily hooked :)
The only thing I've been thinking is..um.. Isn't there anyone who WANTS to go home? Spouses? Parents? Kids? Left the stove on?
I have a feeling this topic will be the conclusion of the series, but yeah. No one's expressed any desire to get out, they've been fully immersed right when they got sucked in. If the author included just a hint of that it would be more realistic.
Anyhoo, I'm hoping this series will get my nerd hubby to get into this too, its so entertaining for mmo players ^_^
-
Now that was a really good episode.
-
Yes it was. Man, Rudy. So sad. I get the feeling the scribe skill and the whole "soul"/"body" idea is gonna be involved here. Things like these aren't brought up for no reason.
-
Had the episode run the background and the amount of "globulin":ninja: was hilarious.
-
This thing has a fuggin' awesome opening song.
DATABASE DATABASE JUST LIVIN' IN THE DATABASE WOW WOOOOW
-
Great episode this week. But I'm hoping for an explanation about one thing.
! How did Rudy manage to not be displayed as a People of the Land ?
-
I found it a pretty poor episode, to be honest.
! No point in Rundelhaus sacrificing himself for IMMORTALs, so the reveal was more "huh?" than it was tragic. The ED was also really inappropriate given the concerning end. Knowing the attitude of this series, they should have asked straight out why Rundelhaus would die for immortals, knowing all of this stuff.
-
Ah, that's a really good point.
! I'd say it was all about him wanting to be an strong adventurer and forgetting about the limitations of the people of the land.
-

But that's incorrect.
The tank going down means a wipe, and a wipe means enemies reaching the Lander town.
Actual non-immortal lives are at stake here. -
That wasn't communicated in the episode, which is a failing of the adaption. Viewers shouldn't have to read between the lines.

Yes it was.
They went there because the alarm went off near the town, much closer than expeted.
Serara set those sound traps to warn any advacement of enemies to the town. -

We already knew the Adventurers were protecting the town. That's the whole reason they were there. Reasoning that a KIA happened directly because of that is inferring something that wasn't said outright. It doesn't help that the only one who could give a proper explanation is packing up to meet with God.
-
It was really obvious to me…

You're the only person I've seen that expressed you didn't get it.
After reading 2ch thread CR forum, AS, here, and 4chan.The fact letting those dire wolves pass the bridge was going to bad for the town required no explanation.
That's the whole reason for the party being there in the first place.Although I'm sure it's a mix of sense of duty (to protect the town), pride, and his devotion to friends, and not just a single reasoning. THAT's reading between the lines.
-
Yeah, that they were near the town was made pretty clear. Considering the tense situation with everything failing, I can see why someone would make a decision like that, too. But that's more looking into it, I guess.
-

People WTF with the spoiler tags? The episode is out and you're not talking about anything that's not been released in English.
As for Rudy, it wasn't about immortality. It was about friendship and doing what needed to be done to save his comrades. He figured that his loss would be less of a blow than the tank and in reality he was right within the context of that battle.
-
Yeah, I thought it was pretty clear that it had to do with the town being in danger if the party fell. Not to mention that it was pretty much stated that if Tohya fell at that time all of the others would follow soon after at the rate things were going
-

Dying for immortal friends should probably be spelled/pointed out, not all of us have firm grasps of the finer details in cinema.
-
I'm just out of words.
Pretty sure you're just pulling my legs now. -

I swear they mentioned something about Rudy sacrificing himself so the tank would survive.. it was really obvious to me, too.
Anyhow, I've been waiting for Rudy to die for quite a lot of episodes now. Don't get me wrong, I like him, but since he was introduced they gave him that "character who is going to die" focus. Super excited to see how Shiroe will revive him in the next ep :)
-
Very good episode! The animation was great, too and the series never really shines with that. I love how everything is tied together well with the plot and world-building details. Some stuff has has really sinister undertones. Shiroe's new spell sort of might end up tip-toeing a moral line and stuff could go wrong very easily with such an ability. Crusty is rather sinister, too. It's be really interesting if these aspects will lead to conflicts with these characters somehow. The romance in the series is actually fine, too. None of the relationships are really rushed and they feel natural. Again, very obviously not an action series, but story and world-building is good. I feel like many of the characters really haven't gotten that much spotlight and are kinda basic, and some feel kinda Sue(Stu)ish - Shiroe and Crusty in particular, but at the very least it's more understandable with them being veterans, but overall it's a good cast. Looking forward to the final episodes.
-
Aaaaaah :D This episode was SO EPIC! Ah man, this anime is seriously awesome. Every episode ends with me all O__________O WOAH
-
I could do without this love triangle thing.
Watching it relaxes me, and each episode has something interesting to offer. But I wouldn't mind if things progressed a little faster.
-
I thought this episode was terrible with little to no bearing on the overall story. Can't wait to be proved wrong though.
-
This is NOT what I want from Log Horizon. NOT.
-
Almost had a seizure when I realized Scale festival wasn't over already. And another groupie for Shiroe, yaaay. Pretty boring, until the second half when SOMETHING actually started happening. Praise the lord, there's finally some suspense again.
-
Yaay, I guess the anime is doing great since we are getting a second season, in spring no less!
Great run even though the timing for the finale is kinda anti-climatic after the big goblin wars, reading the novel in advance must have helped me tied over the romance part.
-
Season two hell yes.
That's when all hell breaks loose too.And it's not spring, it's Fall 2014. There aren't enough material for 2nd season if they were going to air it in Spring lol
-
Well, that's it for season 1. It's been a good series. I think if I'd describe in short, it's solid and safe. The world-building is detailed and the story is without holes. On the other hand it's pretty predictable, at least in the sense that "I figured something was up with that", but a story doesn't always have to be super unpredictable, as long as it makes sense. The characters are archtypes, none of them really stood out to me as amazing in the long run, but they aren't poorly written at all, and some of them have some nice moments. There's also some interesting themes brought up - in this last episode Nureha is creepy as hell, but more importantly that moment brought up the line Shiroe could potentially cross again. It's interesting. Gonna be following season 2.
Ooh, excited for what the "all hell breaks loose" is.
-
The season was great. Pretty excited for season 2.
I'm hoping for more development on characters like Isaac and Naotsugu that kind of disappeared mid-season. And Rudy as well, my favorite character so far. -
Really enjoyed this. I'm quite exited for the next season, though I hope their are able to improve their animation budget a little.
-
All the sexual abuse background Nureha endured in her childhood was omitted, as this anime runs on NHK-E.
She's a little insane and traumatized due to it though. -
And thus, another anime I'm hyped for in Fall 2014!
-

She's a little insane and traumatized due to it though.Whoa, that's some heavy stuff. Poor girl… I still love her character. That charming and crazy side of hers makes Nureha so every intriguing to me.
-
Eh, fall? my excitement may have altered my memory, ;P, fall season would mean starting from August, right?

No, it should be the first weekend of October.
Not only is that the start for Fall season for broadcast, but it also fits perfectly with NHKE's programming.
This weekend is a placeholder program, then next weekend starts rerun of Log Horizon season 1.
Which should end exactly two weeks before the first weekend of October, and there should be a placeholder program in between for one weekend.Whoa, that's some heavy stuff. Poor girl… I still love her character. That charming and crazy side of hers makes Nureha so every intriguing to me.
I won't really put this in spoiler since it's already past the point, and NHKE will never cover it:
Nureha was a malnurished, abused child. She considered herself ugly, and despised. In middle school she was sold into prostitution, and the ghastly images of the men still haunts her to today.
In the Elder Tales world, she used her experiences to become a seductress, (her subjob is "whore princess", basically a courtesan) and used it to gain favors of nobility and the guards in Minami. The scenes in 2nd season covering more of this will likely be omitted as well.
-
I see, thanks aohige especially for the extra info on the programming/re-broadcast
It will be longer wait now, huhu, need to try JJBA Stardust Crusader for this upcoming season in the meantime…

Okay, yeah, now I just wanna hold her and tell her everything's gonna be alright.
Log Horizon's take on being trapped inside a virtual world is the most interesting I've seen so far (granted, I haven't seen many such shows yet). And why is that? Because it's realistic. Not the setting per se, but the way people would inevitably begin to act like.

Then you'll find a particular character vomitingly disgusting
Basically: There's a female Jamil to Nureha's Morgiana.
Can't wait to see either Kanami or Shiroe kick her face in. Preferably Kanami.I don't find it particularly "realistic", but I do find it far more involved and interesting.
I love society-building stories, and mature characters. Capable protagonists taking charge and leading people is far too rare in manga/anime these days. Log Horizon is like a video gamer's Twelve Kingdom. -

Log Horizon is like a video gamer's Twelve Kingdom.I feel like hitting you real hard now, blue one, for mentioning Kanami. <.<" I mean it was obvious from the get-go that she'd appear once again, but having it semi-confirmed by you takes a bit away from the surprise. The other possibility would be that Kanami's appearance was only hinted at and that you too are just hoping for her to fully enter the stage. Yeah, I'll go with that. feigns ignorance
Nicely said. To me it's still realistic. After all, were humans to be trapped in the same kind of situation, some would eventually take the lead while others would take advantage of the situation; just like what's happening in the story. I do agree with what you're saying there though. Shiroe is an amazing character and works so incredibly well as the story's lead.
-
Had to google to remember who Kanami was.
! So wait, her wiki page says she left to Europe. So I guess the story won't be only on Yamato? Or does Kanami come back?

Don't read this Enzeru
! She's on her way back, across the globe.
She's been picking up oddball companions on the way, loosely based on "Journey to the West" - except it's East.
Companions include the protagonist of Elder Tales (powerful NPC), Leonardo the Ninja Turtle assassin, an RMT bot that gained sentience, and a talking horse.
! There's a gaiden novel of full volume worth detailing their adventure across China, heading to Yamato.
We're hoping it'll be included in the 2nd season of Log Horizon, but no certainty as it's a gaiden.
She's obviously going to reach Yamato before the main story is over, so it should. -
! Leonardo the ninja turtle? Seriously? LOL
-
I'm really liking this series. So far I like it much more than Sword Art. Who makes an mmo with no magic? Phhft. But Log Horizon I actually like 90% of the cast and the world actually feels like an mmo with all the status bars, talk of dps, kiting, cooldowns just all so great. Also…Yay Crusty!

Yesssss :D can't wait for this. This series really shines when everyone's in the worst possible situation.
-
It's back finally. I'm like a crack addict awaiting the sub version. The raw is out for you eager beavers and multilingual.
-
There is a subbed version out now, fantastic. Going to watch it later tonight!
-
In Media Res seems to be following me wherever I go lately.
-
Good first episode of the new season. Cool to see that we are indeed getting the overseas stuff with the tea party girl
