Cool, Tropico 5 is a PS Plus game in May, I tried the demo months ago and thought it was cool for a simulation game
Is this for PS3 or PS4?
PS3.
4 still isnt emulating PS1 games all that much for some reason even though its shown to be capable of it.

A damn shame. Would've bought without a second thought. Loved the first Suikoden and never got a chance to play Suikoden 2.
Even PS2 games are pretty scarce on PS4, at least here in Europe. Recently Bought Rogue Galaxy and I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
Finally have to time to boot R&C up in a bit after getting it Tuesday. The only question is Normal or Hard?
Ahhhh I'm so jealous!
Ratchet and Clank is one of my favorite series. I finished all the games thirty times (even the PSP games).
But I will not have a PS4 until next year! :sad:Play in hard mode by the way Nate.
Personally, I played in normal and died many times The races were not difficult to me. After finishing the game, you find yourself given the option to continue playing the game with all the weapons you have accumulated or you can start the game anew with both the weapons you bought and the choice concerning difficulty level that pleases you. You can also push the button options in your controller, go to 'options', then 'game options', and change the difficulty level. It'll only reload the game from the previous checkpoint. No biggie.
The game is great. I was disappointed, though, because the planet Batalia has a snowy climate instead of having a rainy climate. R&C 1 is still great in its own way.
I haven't been able to connect to the ps store for 2 weeks so every time they have a sale I don't even bother looking. I don't know what's wrong but the new update on Tuesday is what I'm hoping might fix it. I can connect to the ps3 store and the Japanese ps4 store just fine.

It's some things I wanna buy on the store (some of which usually shows up in the Flash Sales) and I don't have a dollar to my name :getlost:
The disgaeas are tempting me but even then not sure which one to go for 5 or Promise Revisited. Feel like this type of game would be great for the vita.

The latest games in the series are always better in terms of game mechanics, and the overall story quality is generally about the same (though Disgea 1 had the best story.) 5 is the better bet.
Unless you reeeeally need to use Mystic Beasts (wolves) like I did, in which case you have to play 3 or 4. Or if there's a drastic price difference, in which case get the cheaper one, it feels about the same.
And yes, Disgea is a much better game on a portable. The infinite grinding is way better on daily commutes rather than in front of the tv.

I've been told that the streamlining for Disgaea 5 is on point and that to people that are now used to it Promise Revisited especially postgame is way to tedious.
Like in a way how the original P4 would be too tedious after you've played P4G. But since I haven't played one since the first I was wondering if that would be really something that would irk me. So I'm basically mulling over if 4 is worth the "tedium" in a way. Price difference is like 13 euros not that much, Disgaea 5 for 23 feels like a decent deal vs Promise revisited for 10.
4 is a fine game, as is D2. I had no problems or qualms playing either of them, or the endless grinding. Well, until the post-game anyway.
I've kinda wanted to get into the series before, but I always hear about how much time people put into them and figured that's what's expected which has turned me off.

Naw, you can clear the main game with about the same time investment as any tactics game, 30-40 hours, with a little bit of grinding once you find a juicy stage for it, or even faster if you just focus on the lead characters and don't spend time playing with the dozens of sub troops types.
If you WANT to level up to 9,999 and then reset that level and then regrind up to it again, so you can take on the ultimate post-game bonus content enemies, that's entirely up to you. And the game is designed in such a way that while getting to say, level 50 will take some time, once you get there, getting to level 5000 will take very little once you start unlocking the best attacks. (And once any character crosses that threshold, they drag the rest of them right along with them and you can suddenly get a level 1 character to level 1000 in about 2 minutes..)
The real danger is getting addicted to the random map item world challenges. Its super easy to lose track of time while (optionally) upgrading your equipment.
In any event it really is best on a portable system, since grinding for 20 minutes on a commute is great…. but getting caught in "just one more round" cycles on a home system is dangerous.

Went with 4 now, thanks for the help! The thought of having that on the go time killer was just too appealing.

Ps4 Neo to be announced on september 7 in new york
Played a few hours of No Man's Sky. Sadly, can already tell this is a game I will work very hard to enjoy but never make it there. Truly appreciate what the game is and the effort that went into it, but when it comes to playing it, way yonder not my thing.
I think I'll get my fill of No Man's sky from watching other people play it. It looks like its entirely a mining game and that's just… eh. While I like the idea of finding a cool world and spending time on it, I don't think digging minerals constantly is my thing.
Maybe later when it gets expansions and there's more to do?
It wasn't so much that it was a mining game, it's that it was a sluggish and ungraceful mining game. If I'm going to play an exploration game, think the most important thing to have is freedom, and it's restricted in a bunch of bizarre and confusing ways.
That said, I'm feeling really bad for Hello Games. They're facing a tremendous backlash for a.) delivering the game this was clearly going to be for quite some time (maybe not done as well as they made it sound, but not surprising in its content), b.) the hype the game received (which, ironically enough, was in large part due to the tremendous word-of-mouth after the first trailer), and c.) the level of polish, which is astonishing to me considering the type of game it is.
The main problem is that, in format, this is a very well-done but very niche game that got the word-of-mouth and commercial push of a much more widely marketable and highly-developed game. People are feeling cheated for buying the game that it was clear for a long time it was going to be. I went in knowing it was likely it wouldn't be for me, but I was willing to take the chance.
…man, the video game crowd just really gets me down.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Maybe later when it gets expansions and there's more to do?
The impression I got is that the game just scales very, very slowly, and in later stages there's a more diverse ecosystem as well as increased freedom to do what you want. I just don't have interest in getting to that point, especially considering I'm not sure I'd be enjoying myself that much more at that stage.
I been debating on whether or not to buy No Man's Sky tbh, but my lost interest after one panel that got into the the whole… shooting rocks with your gun and gathering materials to upgrade your ship... with the occasional "super powered" type enemy that rogue-likes or old school dungeon crawlers were infamous for(it's supposed to be a mechanic to keep you moving... like a hunger clock). It just didn't seem to fit the orignal ambition behind the title, and it seemed like the whole farming aspect was added in due to popular appeal.
I would be tempted to get the game if there was more roles, I guess. Like... rather than gathering materials, I would liked exploring planets to discover new creatures, possible races.. maybe learning and developing ways to survive different environments. Basically sandbox metriod. Maybe with lore just as expansive and deep.
I might end up buying it anyway, because I kinda desperately want to fly a ship across the cosmos... but the whole resource gather side seems too primary to allow for any fun or immediate roleplay it seems.
I think you all are sorely misconstruing the mining aspect of this game.
1. For starters the only reason you should mine is to keep your ship and exo suit fueled up. Which isn't hard considering Plutonium, carbon, and zinc are what you need which are all extremely easy to get.
2. There is no "upgrading your ship" you could upgrade the ships parts but it isn't really necessary because the only thing that matters is that it can get you to the next planet or galaxy. And if you need more ship inventory space simply look for a bigger ship when in space stations or exploring on planet (you can find and fix crashed ships to take)

3. You can do all of this. In fact discovery is the best way to get money as you get money every time you discover a new plant life or animal or rock.
Mining doesn't have to be all that you do

Ah! I see. Didn't really look into the game at all beyond the reveal trailer and that one panel showing off the basic "minecraft" game-play. Aside that, I've kept myself completely unspoiled and wasn't aware there was more besides mining. Cool! Now I'm leaning a bit more towards buying the game now.

Yeah I've been playing it since it's release I can assure you there is a lot more to the game than what you saw.
Entirely procedurally generated games generally suffer from having seemingly lots of stuff to do but in practice it gets boring pretty quickly. It seems like a good idea to save yourself some work and make the game more replayable by just making everything procedural but it generally just leads to a game being a letdown.
Procedural generation works great for games you want tons of replay value from like Binding of Isaac or Rogue Legacy. It's great for the "always a new challenge" thing.
Its not so great if you want there to be a story or narrative or deliberatley constructed piece of art.
There's a role for both styles, but it mostly boils down to the gameplay being the focus of the game more than anything else.
But procedural generation rarely allows for the same gameplay implementations as if it's specifically designed. You're right that it fits some games (though BoI seems like it would be similar to the Legend of Grimrock if not procedurally generated) but NMS is not a game that really benefits from it. You go from similar planet to similar planet finding similar animals with mining similar areas and then move onto the next one and the process repeats itself. Sir, You Are Being Hunted is a game I was excited for that's similar in that it has a simple concept and liberal use of procedural generation and in the same way it kind of loses its charm after a few playthroughs. While comparing it to something like Thief where the levels are specifically designed, even if the levels don't change nearly as much as in SYABH or NMS it still has better replay value I feel because even without large variances due to procedural generation there's still a lot of flexibility there and chances for emergent gameplay. Obviously this doesn't really carry over to other games that are more linear and scripted but I feel like gameplay generally does need to be simplified in order to work with the ever changing level creations of procedural generation. Which isn't always bad and works for some games but NMS is a good example of a game that suffers for it I feel even if it managed to turn out exactly how the developer wanted.
My experience with NMS is it doesn't start up(PC). For 60 euros? I think not. Truly a shame cause I feel like this is totally my type of game but I really don't feel like doing troubleshooting on this. I think I'd rather put that money towards INSIDE + other stuff :/.
In this case it's just also clear that waiting is just the better deal, more content, cheaper price and no bugs that would make it unplayable.
NMS was too overhyped to ever live up to the expectations. The game is meh to solid.
Apparently there's some super problems with the PC launch. Everyone is having problems. Seems like that extra week of delay wasn't enough to work out whatever the problem was.
The problem is "we don't care about the PC version but I'm sure we'll get at least some sales with a broken product". Seems pretty common since the start of this gen. At least Steam now has the capability to refund but people will just hold on thinking it might be fixed in the future.
Out of curiosity I was checking on steam if the problems for NMS have been somewhat fixed and there was this 1 user thread with possible solutions.
And it went like:
Try x
If that doesn't work …
try y
If that doesn't work ...
try z
Thing is it went on like this 13 times and some of the suggested fixes were quite extensive(several paragraphs of explanations).
But the best thing was the first reply was something along the line of tried of them but none of them worked....
I feel pretty good about refunding now. This is quite a disaster launch for the PC, maybe I forgot a title in between but the last one that was this bad was Arkham Knight I think?
My bro also refunded that game after trying to play it for 1 and half hour. Don't know what the fuck is wrong with developers and their broken PC port mess.

Well in that case Arkham Knight would be way worse because it was made by major companies and studios. NMS, iirc, is still an indie game, published by a small team.

I think I'm pretty empathetic to devs that said there is no worse based on the studio size or anything. You sell your game for 60 bucks you stand the same scrutiny as the competition from a consumer point of view simple as that. I might have a pity/mercy budget for things that are like closer to 20 bucks.

Point taken. Still, paying that amount of money to a big developer and getting a buggy launch is like an insult. But if you get the same with an indie dev it feels more like a risk taken.

Well shit .
About No Man's Sky … I honestly saw this backlash coming long ago and i'm surprised that so few people did. The first trailer really caught my attention and i loved all the ideas ... but at the same i was wondering ... what is it that you actually do? Discovering planets and species is really great but of course it would get boring after a while. But there never was a definite answer what the gameplay would be like.
Now i'll still buy the game sometime in the future ... for 20 € or whatever, because i love the concept.
Oh I believe there are plenty of us who thought it looked shallow, overhyped and overpromised from the countless samey trailers at every major event.^^
Might get it in a year when its super cheap and has more features added and bugs fixed.
Oh sure. I'd count this forum under the "few" people. I mean … there isn't even a thread for the game.
Additional features really would be great. But even like it is now, i'm sure i'd have fun with it. For a while.
I'm not quite sure where the hype came from. It was pretty obvious from the trailers and demos a year ago that it'd be pretty, sure, but that it was mostly going to be a mining game.
I suppose if they had a few hundred more creature and plant elements for the randomizer that would help… but it was always shown and promised as exactly what it turned out to be. If you'd watched any 10 or 20 minute demo up front you should have known exactly what it was going to be. Especially considering they pretty much always demoed on the same preset pretty planet with the red grass and the green sky
The whole infinite planets thing obviously hooked people on the potential but... it was never going to be infinite play.
