Pokemon Ultra S&M - Let's Minecraft Pikachu and Eevee Quest
-
Pokemon/Fallout crossover incoming
-
In a water-type pokemon with an attack way higher than the special attack like Sharpedo or Gyarados, I prefer give them Waterfall than Surf.
Indeed. Sometimes Waterfall is more handy than Surf.
-
If only (it's a fake, a dream):
I think Fairy/Dragon WOULD make A LOT of sense for this evolution line though. Too bad it's all but confirmed there won't be an Alola Form Dragonite line.

I scrolled down to the bottom then slowly upwards. You've broken my heart good sir.

Someone made mention, after some in-depth trailer analysis, that we may be getting 2 Fossil Pokemon afterall.
2 of the fossil shapes in the new Ancient Power animation appear to be new, and have not been seen before in any past installment of the series. That being, of course, the Rib-looking Fossil and the Clam-looking Fossil.

Hmmm, interesting.
The ribs could be any vertebrate though.

As far as late setups goes, I pretty much only favor moves under 110 base power if they have a secondary effect attached to it. So Surf… just having purely 90 base power isn't that great for me. I do use it for Double Battles, never soley for its damage(though doing some damage is nice) but for the Water Absorb benefits.

Really? What would you use instead? Hydro pump is inaccurate, Origin Pulse and Steam Eruption are unique moves, Hydro cannon forces you to rest a turn (and is only available to a few pokes) and Water Spout becomes useless after you take a hit or two, in addition to also being rather limited in who can use it.
-
There is Scald that burns and Brine that doubles the power when the opponent's HP is below half.

Scald, and its amazing 30% chance of burning.
He did say he favors secondary effects. Even Waterfall has a 20% chance of flinching.

Hydro Pump having an 80% chance to hit isn't bad by any means. Scald I feel is better too, though it's 10 points weaker. Same with Waterfall if you are running something more physical oriented.
Surf is just more liable in the game due to its accuracy, decent power and and having good pp. Surf is just something I barely use or see in online singles, mostly due to the lack of additional utility. Sometimes it just isn't enough when your move has the chance to kill something in 2-3 hits rather than something that either kills in 1-2 hits or has and additional effect added to it. It's kinda why I see sets with both flamethrower and fireblast, since they both have the chance of burning..
Aside that, it's mostly preference.

Daaaamn…..
For my "must catch because cute" quota, this hits all of the checkmarks. Speaking of, did we get our Pikachu derivative? (or is just Alola Raichu?)

We got the steel electric hedgehog.

@Capt:
We got the steel electric hedgehog.
Nice.
Although Emolga stands as my favorite not Pikachu of the series. Mine was the MVP in White 2.

Even in a competitive setting I would still favor accuracy and utility over something that's meant to be a one hit kill but could easily fizzle out due to things like missing or pressure eating up the PP.
You were also talking of "late setup" which makes me thing you were talking about in-game (am I correct?), and in that context it really is arguable why you'd want a move with 5 pp out of which normally only 4 of those hit, when you could instead have a move like surf which is 90 base power + stab on most mons that learn it, and it has a solid 15 pp to last you pretty much an entire elite four + champion without need for PP Up or ethers or elixirs.
-
If we're talking in-game, Fly is usually a perfectly good move. Yeah it takes two turns but the AI is typically too dumb to set up properly and doesn't switch out.

Yeah, late game. Low PP for powerful attacks is never much of an issue for me since there's 3 other move slots and not a mention an entire team of 5 with moves of their own. And the team isn't all just power attackers with low pp moves either. Some are revenge killers, some for stat infliction, others volt switch, ect. Plenty of other options to work with.
So yeah. Still boils down to personal preference.

Man… I'm craving, badly, for some more Sun & Moon information...
-
Depending on how rare the bottlecaps are you can do these things:
If they are super rare, save them to get a legit Perfect Ditto, the capacity to freely breed it still is going to be worth it.
If they are hard to come by, say like the ability capsule, then it all will depend if the legendaries still have that "3 perfect iv guarantee" rule of last gen, and how many of them will be available in the game.
If they are common then the simulator might be at an end.

A leak/rumor that was posted 2 days before the reveal of Alola Forms, Z-Moves etc. were shown in (as well as the pre-evo of Mudsdale). One of the Chinese leakers.
!
! The… Salandit rumor has popped up more than once, as well as the 120+ Pokemon total, and Hala being an E4 counterpart is all but confirmed with the new Trial Captain/Kahuna system. However... The Rock, Paper, Scissor trio is new, as well as the information about Rockruff, I believe. The Cutiefly evo evolution is also new.
-
! The Rockruff Evolution system sounds…awful.

Yeah… They did the same with Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos in X/Y, locking them (not really) behind your chosen starter. Was annoying...
-
Finally got time to see this, first I'm really not liking that as of now only gen 1 pokemon are the only ones with aloha forms, having said that however… holy shit they actually gave something to Raichu.

If I was a betting man, and sometimes, I am, I would say the gameplay will be pretty much the same as what was shown at E3 this year. HOWEVER…maybe that won't be the case, since Game Freak seems to want to show shit for Sun & Moon, and instead, we will be getting some new gameplay at a new location, and maybe...just maybe, we will get to see the 2nd form of the starters and a new Pokemon or 2.

I don't get it…
So innocent, I am jealous. Someone didn't see that one episode of House guest starring Harold from the Harold and Kumar movie.
I also forgot to thank that guy who mentioned shortening it to SuMo instead. What a great idea!
Lemme search the thread again…Hey thanks Cpt Haggis! -
How about using slashes?
-
Have any of you guys already decided on which version you're going to get?
Most people wait to learn about the version-exclusive monsters, but on these days of wonder trade, GTS and friend codes (and this very thread) it's pretty easy to get all the version exclusive Pokemon (FYI, XY had 11 version exclusive lines, only two of those from gen 6). Also, I kinda don't want to research too much about these fantastic beasts and where to find them, so I can still be a bit surprised when the time comes…
-
I'm getting Moon, because of the legendary, really… Ghost-type is my favorite typing in Pokemon, and the legendary is Psychic/GHOST, so...yeah. It helps that I also like the design of the legendary.
Apparently one of the exclusives for the game is
! Lugia and Ho-Oh. One will be in Sun and one in Moon (assuming Lugia Moon and Ho-Oh Sun). From pretty reliable leakers, since more of them have been saying the same thing now.
-
Right now I'm leaning toward Sun because Solgaleo is cool, but I generally wait for all of the exclusives. I'm considering getting both for the first time, though, one physical and one as a download.
-
Come to think of it, did we heard which regular pokemon will be in Sun and Moon?
-
I'm on Team Sun because lions are cool.
-
Come to think of it, did we heard which regular pokemon will be in Sun and Moon?
Not right now, really. However, I'm expecting a fairly typical split, i.e. Butterfree to Sun and Beedrill to Moon, with maybe 1 or 2 of the new, Sun & Moon Pokemon thrown in to each, like…uh...Bounsweet and its evolution line to Sun and Lurantis and its evolution line to Moon. Possible we will get an exclusive Alola Form Pokemon as well.
-
I'll go with Moon, because Solgaleo's typing is weird.
-
@S.C.:
I'll go with Moon, because Solgaleo's typing is weird.
Kinda-sorta makes sense though, since the sun really isn't made of Fire/flame. It's like…molten metal and plasma, which the Steel-typing covers better. But yeah...was REALLY expecting Psychic/Fire.
-

Or just Fire/Steel. It was right there for you, Game Freak! But noooooooo….

If you read some of the pokemon descriptions certain pokemon are specified as being diurnal or nocturnal. Like for example, I believe Lurantis is nocturnal and Gumshoos diurnal or something like that, so they might only appear as totem in their respective versions.
Morelull also has a particularly nocturnal entry. Not sure what its counterpart would be.
-
Fire is a pretty generic type for a Legendary nowadays. Maybe it worked in Gen 1 and 2, but it is types like Psychic, Dragon and Ghosts that gives the Legendary vibe. Sure, there is Volcanion, but I am talking about cover mons in general.
Then again, there is Reshiram….

Bounsweet, or however you spell it. The weird little cherry flower, pure Grass-type Pokemon, that obviously has an evolution or 2, but, has not been revealed yet. Bounsweet is just screaming version exclusive, be it Sun or Moon.
-

Lurantis was mentioned to be totem min of lush forest. Gumshoos seem to be near some cliffs so I doubt it.

Both, but playing Sun first, I've been getting both since DP.
-
Planning on sun first. My sister in law is a gamer so we tend to buy each other the second game for Christmas.

New Asian leak/rumor, regarding Alola Forms, said we're getting a
! pure Fairy-type Ponyta/Rapidash and a Bug/Ghost Paras/Parasect.
Could be true, could be not, found on Reddit/4chan, mentioned on Neogaf.
-
I usually go with whichever version has the objectively cooler name (blue, gold, sapphire, moon). With the only exception being when I got guilted into getting Y over X. Even without knowing anything about them, I've always managed to get the version with the exclusives/legendary I prefer. So far Moon is looking no different :D

! I don't really believe this, but I would love a Fairy Ponyta/Rapidash with a rainbow mane. OMG. I would die.
! However, we've already seen a Fire type go Fairy with Vulpix/Ninetales.
