I didn't expect Reiju to be like that when she was young, she is like a typical cruel big sister who just laugh at her little brother getting bullied by her other siblings. I know we haven't seen the full flashback of his past but Sanji has the right to leave his family.
Chapter 833: Vinsmoke Judge
-
-
For the record guys, I highly, highly, doubt Judge was fighting Sanji at 100% or even 50%. KTFO/fatally injuring his son (Which at this point is more or less a living ticket into Big Mom's crew) isn't smart at all. I know we're going to hear it, but Judge Vinsmoke is not weak lol. You might not like his fighting style but I don't think it's that useless. This "fight" showed nothing more than a few attacks and was nothing more than a violent family argument. When the plot thickens and Sanji/Luffy make Judge Vinsmoke pissed off enough to kill, that is when the real show begins.
-
Damn, Sanji has a much darker backstory than we thought. Kind of like when we got Luffy's second flashback. I wonder if all the straw hats have an even darker past than we know.
-
So glad to see that Sanji wasn't "completely" defeated by his father. And it seems that he is the only one between his siblings to be able to use Haki. This means Germa 66 are a bunch of loosers
Doesn't seem like that at all. Judge being surprised Sanji can use Haki doesn't tell us anything about other bros.
-
Not to mention Judge doesn't want to kill Sanji, considering he needs him for the alliance it brings with Big Mom (like he, himself, stated in the chapter), so he wasn't in full-on aggro mode anyway.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
People are making A LOT of assumptions. lol
-
This was originally supposed to be a sneak rescue mission, but since Big Mom has the keys to the handcuffs Luffy's going to have to deal with her soon.
Its either that or get Mr3 on to Big Mom's territory. I wonder where the Buggy pirates might be…
-
Since it's his year, he gets to be even more Sanji than usual. So, Sanji's dad just went from potentially interesting to comically evil. Sure hope there's some more depth there. As for the fight, it's a shame Sanji wasn't even trying that hard, apparently. By now, he should be good enough to avoid a blow or two.
Judge's speed and observation are good, but I'm not impressed by all the tech he uses. He clearly defeated Sanji by using a moral trick: Sanji wouldn't harm a person, but Judge has no problems to take advantadge of it. And since I don't want to believe that "This is Sanji's year" means that Sanji will be yelling "Luffy, save me"…" (the damicel in distress pattern), I hope Sanji will have his revenge against Judge. /// But reading the chapter it came to the mind the idea that somehow Big Mom will make a sweet dessert with Judge.
-
Obviously we don't have the complete flashback. There must be a reason why Sanji is different from his brothers.
Anyway the power difference is not that big and if there is a rematch (which will happen most certainly), the result will probably be different. Especially if Sanji puts his hands on those technical devices. -
Wait why are people saying Sanjis dad is weak? Did he even get hit once?
-
The Vinsmokes are so weak that they need 4 hours to end a 2 year-old war.
Yeah, I get it. -
Also. Did anyone see my post like…a page or so back, about the Killer childhood portrait made: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/onepiece/images/1/11/Killer_as_a_Child.png/revision/latest?cb=20130222095711 and about, maybe, just maybe…it's hinting at something about Killer and the Vinsmokes being related (could Killer be "the rat" that was mentioned in the brief flashback, and he's some sort of locked away bastard child of Judge and a commoner or some-such; he looks like a hungry street rat).
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Not to mention his eyes are covered, and by extension, his eyebrows. Though...that could be related to something else, since we haven't seen his face AT ALL in the series so far; Killer, that is.
-
As much as I try, I can't find in myself a fuck to give about the Vinsmoke family. So while I know this was a good and important chapter, I couldn't care about it.
Judji (someone suggested this romanization last week. I like it) clearly is not among the strongest around, heavily implied Sanji would have kicked his ass in that last clash if he didn't got surprised by the human sacrifice. So I am still under the impression the two oldest boys will be stronger than their father.
Also, those explosive wrists being introduced in the same chapter that confirms Sanji can use CoA… can't he simply nullify the damage with it?
-
Judge talks too much. We know Oda's patterns most of the time, but either Ichiji or Niji being the actual strongest opponent for Sanji (instead of Judge as it seems is going to be) would make for a much more unexpected development. It would make the fight more on equal footing (heh), and maybe have another great sibling's hatred going on after the great Doffy/Rosinante.
-
Currently Killer has 27 years and that is 6 years older than Sanji so…Unlikely.
-
The Vinsmokes are so weak that they need 4 hours to end a 2 year-old war. Yeah, I get it.
Unless you know how strong the people who were involved in the war were, that arguments holds little weight.
Not that I think they are weak.
So what's with Yonji's head acting like Duval's and Chinjao's? Is it another comic relief or are they partly cyborgs now?

Ichiji will most likely be an actual strong opponent for him. Sanji tried to punch him in the past but he didn't even flinched and in return, the brother give him several punches to his face. So I can see Sanji vs his elder brother.

I don't think he is good as Zoro or Luffy in CoA.

I wouldn't say he looks like a street rat. His clothes are normal, the furniture is normal, the plate is normal. There's little to go from there.
-
And with that I now hate every fiber of Vinsmoke Judge's being. Please let the kick Sanji gives him be as satisfying as the punch Luffy gives Bellamy in the Jaya Arc.
-
So glad to see that Sanji wasn't "completely" defeated by his father.
And it seems that he is the only one between his siblings to be able to use Haki. This means Germa 66 are a bunch of loosersAll Judge said was that he was surprised Sanji could use haki. That seemed more a comment about Sanji's strength compared to his past weakness more than an implication that nobody else could do it.
-
Didn't say Oda that Zoro, Sanji and Luffy are good each one on a type of haki?
-
I wonder what kind of fight would be if Sanji fought Judge for real. Interesting that Judge have similiar attacks with Sanji, DJ alternative and geppou alternative, both however accomplished by tech while Sanji's techniques are legit. Also the question comes, if Judge's attacks are pure tech then it's a question whenever he can actually regulate output of power for his attacks or was that maximum output of those techniques. Anyway on other hand it's pretty safe to say that Sanji wasn't fighting serously at all.
-
Didn't say Oda that Zoro, Sanji and Luffy are good each one on a type of haki?
Yeah, but not necessarily at the cost of the others, besides Conqueror's for Zoro and Sanji. Sanji's best at observation, but has used armament at least as early as Punk Hazard (unless he didn't use it on Vergo).
Haki can be overpowered, though, so it's possible Sanji's armament can't handle a point blank explosion without at Jesse SOME damage
-
Neat chapter I wish we could have seen Judge be a bit more serious.
-
Man the Vinsmokes are a bunch of first class assholes. Sanji really did have a crappy past. I wonder though is his passion for cooking food for the needy something he got from his mother, cause all the other quintuplets seem to take after judge and Sanji being the black sheep really makes it seem like he takes after his mother more (this is all speculation of course). In regards to the bracelet we know that it can be removed without the keys as Rayleigh showed us on Sabaody but the question is did he use haki or was another way we don't know about (bets are its probably haki related. To cement his nomination for crappiest father ever Judge outright says he only wanted Sanji to cement the alliance because he's expendable and what a dick move to put the bracelets on Sanji's hands after Sanji tells him they are only for cooking. I thought Garp was a bad father figure but man Judge really takes the cake.
-
Dadji is not that impressive… probably all of Germa and his family too. Sanji took that electric-imbued kick to the face like it was nothing. Though after all that's been said, I still want to believe that Dadji is just really stubborn and he did care for Sanji. This is pretty similar of how Garp raised Luffy and co. Military-types might have this tough-love attitude running with them. Seriously though, they are already talking about how huge a mental-case Big Mam is. When the time comes, they would need to rely on Sanji and the SH in this arc.
-
not this Killer is a bastard Vinsmoke again….
Even if he is what purpose has he in this whole storyline? Not even one. There are enough Vinsmokes already and Sanji plays the tragic child.
Why a 2nd with no role in this Vinsmoke story.
Not even talking about the naming of the kids and that their is no room for him
-
The technology theme with the Vinsmokes is pretty interesting. I'm curious what might be done with it.
-
strange….. last chapter (832) Judge called Sanji "son", this chapter while fought he said "so you dare to kick your own father?" "you've returned home, Sanji!!! This means that indeed you're my son" "are you saying... that you'd sacrifice your own family?" those words for me personally show's of he is care in a way for Sanji. then comes the "just so we're both clear, I still and never will see a fool like you as a son of mine.... not in the slightest". wtf???
-
I can see the japanese fans mad that suddenly three new birthdays were taken away from them.

You can clearly see which one is his true thoughts by his actions. Nothing to get confused over.

Maybe it just Sanji that is very resistant? Have you ever thought about that?

he cares about the bound of blood..he basically opens this chaoter by saying that no matter how much anji struggles,he will still be his son that doesn't mean he cares for him though,or that he even wants his as a son
-

It can't be! Sanji cannot show any signs of strength! His opponents are weak, that's it!
-
Nice chapter, Sanji sure had a tough childhood..About the haki, Zoro and Sanji are capable of using both armament and observation, Oda pointed it out that Zoro strongest was armament and Sanji's observation. In this fight Sanji used armament and his father noticed, so it was at least strong, I wonder why he didn't use his observation and his speed, and even his sky walk to dodge Judge's attacks. It seems he want to know how much strong is his father or prove himself. My impression is that both of them weren't fighting at 100%, and for Judge to appear first, I presume his brothers (exception of Yonji weakling) are strongest than the father.Maybe we're in for two side arc composing a big one arc, like Water 7/Ennies Lobby? First they take on Germa and get Sanji back, then Big Mom's family/officers.
-
Pretty good chapter in my opinion, even if it just follows a one fight, I think it showcased a lot of interesting things regarding the Germa technology, furthermore it showed us the reason why Sanji hates his family. I like how Judge still doesn't want to get too affiliated with Big Mom, and he just wants to use her. I wonder if Sanji would be the one to defeat his dad given that his dad repeatedly asked him why he dares to kick his father, this actually makes me ask my self if Judge really hates Sanji!?, but given the statement he says in the last page he probably does, or maybe he's just acting like hating Sanji. He even maybe did this in the past to motivate Sanji to do so, of course he's wrong either way. I would like to say I'm a new member, and I hope to enjoy discussing One Piece (and other things) with all of you.
-
Dunno why people think Judge is weak. Sanji barely scratched him.

I can see the japanese fans mad that suddenly three new birthdays were taken away from them.
There is still a birth time left: Ichiji: 01:00 Niji: 02:00 Sanji: 03:00 Yonji: 04:00 And if Reiji was also Born that day, she is Born 00:00. After all "Sanji" means "3 o' clock". I wonder if those cuffs are a part of BM's roulette/dart game?

They weren't trying to kill each other, it was just sparring.
-
Man…it's really tough being a Sanji fan sometimes, in the combat stakes anyway. I can't see anyone but Sanji taking down the Judge later in this arc though.

nowhere is said that judge hates sanji..he just doesn't care about him because he thinks it's a fool (before he also thought he was weak, but this battle has shown him how sanji is not the weak little kid that he once was) he also said that his initial idea was to make things as peaceful as possible,so it's not like he wants to hurt dsanji, just to use him.
-
Wait, is that a female soldier in the first page? I thought it was stated that the army was only composed of males, sans Reiju.
-
Maybe it just Sanji that is very resistant? Have you ever thought about that?
It doesn't matter. It is jet-powered in addition to everything. Sanji would have reacted if the impact is significant.
-
They weren't trying to kill each other, it was just sparring.
technically,if sanji didn't have haki,he would now miss a leg and have a goushing wound on his torso but of course we are not supposed to think about that.
-
There are some voices that Judge's first 2 sons are stronger than Judge. But in OP-verse, the old men are depicted as beasts (Garp, WB, Rayleigh,…). On the other hand, the torch has to be given to a younger Generation (Chinjao and Sai).
-
Wait, is that a female soldier in the first page? I thought it was stated that the army was only composed of males, sans Reiju.
Well spotted. Maybe it's one of the maids?
-
Dunno why people think Judge is weak. Sanji barely scratched him.
I think he might be weaker than Sanji actually, based on fact that he's using tech to fight. The question if his flight boots provides better maneuverability than Sanji's geppou and if his Electric discharge attacks are stronger than DJ at it's full power. Well, that's assuming that those are his strongest attacks however. Maybe he still have DF power he haven't revealed yet? But based on what I've seen I don't have reason to put him up high on power scale.–- Update From New Post Merge ---@Maju:
technically,if sanji didn't have haki,he would now miss a leg and have a goushing wound on his torso but of course we are not supposed to think about that.
He wouldn't have blocked the attack with his leg and have dodged if he didn't have haki. It was his choice to defend against the attack, not that his father was trying to kill him. But if Judge was trying to killl him then it'd show that he sees Sanji as someone stronger than him, which would prove his weakness.
-
Yeah Judge is not weak. Neither is Yonji. Yonji thought that Sanji was just as weak as he was as a child and so did not take him seriously at all. I doubt they even had a real fight. And not once did Sanji ever have the advantage in his fight against Judge, the wall was most likely there for Judge to take him by surprise and finish the fight quickly. Judge using technology to fight does not make him weak either, as that would be like saying Franky is the weakest Straw Hat. It's him using the technology to its fullest potential that makes him really strong.
-
It doesn't matter. It is jet-powered in addition to everything. Sanji would have reacted if the impact is significant.
Have you seen how Judge threw Sanji after the first Diable Jambe? I don't think it would leave that impact.
It is just because Sanji didn't spilled blood or something? Because that wouldn't matter.
-
It doesn't matter. It is jet-powered in addition to everything. Sanji would have reacted if the impact is significant.
Well, a single spear swing caused him to fall to his knees even with a Haki defense, so…
