Old school Simpsons fan unite!
According to an article in Entertainment Weekly, the movie is being written by 10 veteran scribes responsible for the best episodes from the show's 1990s heyday, including David Mirkin, Mike Scully, and Al Jean! It's being written by the best the Simpsons ever had, people! A very wise decision indeed. Plus, guest stars will include Minnie Driver, Albert Brookes, and the real-life Erin Brockovich.

aw, c'mon, guys! here';s my little ramble:
okay, simpsons has DEFINETLY gone down, but i still think it's funny as hell! if you watched the newest episode with Sideshow Bob, you'll understand.
and as for south park and family guy, i see family guy as a knock-off.
south park has it's moments, but it's focus is kinda just making fun of current events.
i like all 3 shows, but the family guy is getting incredibly predictable. they use the same jokes more than once, thinking "i bet people will remember them from before, then laugh at them again!". nein. they weren't as funny.
and i like south park, i really loved the episode where they made fun of the simpsons, saying they've done everything. and they pretty much have.
but with what someone said, i agree. they need to go back to the old stuff. power plant, saxophone, prank phone calls, all that good stuff. i own seasons 1,2,3,6, and 7, and i watch them alot. make me laugh all the time.
whut i think they should do is another Who Shot Mr. Burns Thing again, that'd be really spiffy.
and, fer the record, they signed a deal to go to seasons 18 and 19. so, season 18 from fall 2006- to spring 2007. then the movie, then season 19, fall 2007- spring 2008.
they may sign one more after that, i'd like it to end at 20, that's be spiffy.
Family Guy isnt predictible. I was amazed at the newest episode. Adam West man. He killed the Noid. Funny stuff. And people think it is a copy of the Simpsons and South Park. It isnt the case. They eachhave their own sense of humor. A humor started from Ren and Stimpy!
Simpsons has gone down. I dont watch it anymore. I have the old boxsets and thats all I need. If the writers are the old one, Ill see it.

The 8th season has come out on DVD. It's one of the best in my opinion. I bought it the other day.

You're going to love the animated menus. Various characters pose for their picture, and a lot of stuff happens in the background.
Plus, Hurricane Neddy! I love that episode!

It has gone downhill. I still watch it and will do so till the end.
I agree that they need to go back to their day to day lives. The storyline which involves Marge and Homer getting into an arguement and almost splitting up and so on, has just been overused far to much. I miss the old episodes like Apu and Manjula's marriage-that was a brilliant episode. Then we do get the occasional gem of an episode, even amongst the new ones.
Yeah, I noticed that, I can't remember the last time Homer went to the Power Plant
I still laugh at The Simpsons, even the new ones. It may not be as good as it was during the mid-nineties, truly it's 'golden era' per se. I'm a massive fan of the Simpsons but I hope it ends with the movie next year, it would really be the best way to end it in my eyes.
The DVD of X-Men: The Last Stand has an unfinished scene straight from the Simpsons Movie. :) It's hillarious, and it has the feel of the old writers.
The scene has Homer sledding through snow with huskies on a long trip. He takes a break at night, telling us that this isn't an ordinary stroll through the snow. He's got a an important destination he has to reach. I wonder what?
If only Steve were here. That emoticon is the only thing that can describe how happy this makes me.
hmmmm, I think it feels like the area of simpson episodes where they started to decline, which were still great episodes. The clip was ok like, I loved the bit before it though with the whole 'hey! Where's the colour!?'

I haven't seen a Simpsons episode in about 5 years and although I've heard mixed things about the quality, if this is any indication of where the series is, I just may have to catch up.

Season 17 is great. People will say what they will about the quality, however, I'll bet they also haven't watched it in YEARS.
I just watched the evolution VS religion episode of the Simpsons from last season.
I knew there was a reason they shouldn't do moral debate episodes.
South Park creams them in that field.
The season finale was really funny though!
I honestly can't watch the Simpsons because they're just not funny too me anymore. Maybe it's because I'm a huge fan of South Park, so the humor presented on the Simpsons can't even rival the humor of South Park. I believe that the Simpsons should of ended seasons ago.
Still I hope the movie is actually decent, the movie has been in the "works" for ages now.
I think the Simpsons had 2, 3 terrible seasons…but that was like four years ago. Honestly, all the recent stuff is great...still my favorite comedy show...besides Futurama (which was the funniest thing in tv history).

Yes, that show is the best animated show ever. I'm so glad that it is coming back. Sadly, it is coming back to Comedy Central. Which I probably won't have cable to watch it sense I will be wasting my paycheck on high speed internet for my new house then.
The last three seasons of the Simpsons just don't have the same feeling as the classic episodes. Almost like the storyline "think tank" is almost empty. The only reason why I watch the Simpsons now is because of their great Halloween episodes.
Which brings me to my next topic, what would the movie honestly be about? My Brother and I discussed the idea of the two aliens attack Springfield and etc. We thought that an actual episode based off the "Hit and Run" interactive entertainment* storyline would of be interesting.

ARRGH! My expectations for this movie sinks even lower! Seriously, a show that constantly relies on celebrity guests and non-sequiturs should've been killed off a long time ago.
Also, ever notice how increasingly violent this show has become towards Homer? Honestly, it seems like he is getting mashed, mauled, maimed, shot at, or burned nearly every episode. The only scene on the trailer showed him getting hurt yet again.
Homer getting hurt was always part of the Simpsons…I still think the most violent scene was in that Skateboard episode in season 2 (or was it season 1?).

Yes, Homer getting hurt was a part of the Simpsons, but those scenes showed up in far fewer numbers than they do now. They also usually had a point to them. Homer falling into Springfield Gorge convinced Bart to stop being a daredevil (Yeah, I know, Homer falling into the gorge the second time was superflous, but hey might as well go for overkill
).
I feel like they've been trying to make it like Family Guy .. with their sudden long scenes like when Family Guy does it too when you think
"When is he gonna stop doing that?" or something.. :l

On two of the pages, there is a picture of Peter Griffon. Under the pic, it says plagiarism. Then it show a pic of Stan (American Dad), under the pic, it says plagiarism and plagiarism. Man I cracked up laughing.
I love the cheap shots that Simpsons & FG throw at each other. It reminded me of the time Stewie ran over Homer with his bike. This should be good for competiton.

It was actually when they went to Italy, therefore the language is Italian, rather than Spanish. "Plagarisimo", and "Plagarisimo de Plagarisimo."
Yeah, couldn't remember the Italian words for Plagiarism. Still this back and forth thing between the two series is something I enjoy immensely. Can't wait to see how FG responds to Simpsons & South Park. These 3 series are awesome.

Tonight, in Spain, the channel that owns the rights of The Simpsons showed a new trailer of this movie in exclusive. It starts with the same 3d joke, but the scene changes after that, showing Homer and Bart trying to fix the roof of their house…and Homer stabbing his eye with the hammer XD

Ahhh The Simpsons, it was my favorite cartoon a long time ago… But frankly the series really dropped after season 9. I hope the movie be good though.
