Those combined threads feel so random. You're talking about Bleach? Hear me out about my weekly rambling about Fairy Tail.

Like, how very little the strongest enemies ever have achieved as of yet, despite launching a full sized surprise attack and the utter uselessness of Makarov's 1 year mission.

Well Makarov was doing it wrong the whole time. He didn't believe in the power of friendship and tried to do everything himself. Now with the guild back and friendship in full force, they will win. Though remember, this only applies to Fairy Tail friendship, because Sabertooth can now have these strong bonds but still get jobbed off screen. As for the Spriggan 12, well this is Fairy Tail so hype never works out in the end. Heck, the more someone hypes a person by talking about them rather than showing off makes them job even more, as we saw with the case of God Serena.

Kenpachi just release all his power, he always has do it and it's in need of the patch and the bells to enjoy battles along with swing the sword with one hand.
Yachiru claimed that it was too much power for Ken to use it, meaning it was focused on his body and he's too weak to handle it.

In other words, an incomplete Bankai. Just wait till it's completed.

Cover page was pretty boss. Though I don't care for this whole hype thing with Eileen. We are going to get this whole thing about how oh so strong she is and will do this awesome attack, yada yada false win, yada yada get jobbed by acnologia, yada yada things go on. Also I fully expect the negotiation to work and no one has to fight August, because we know how anything of that nature tends to work out.

I really liked the Brandish character interactions. It's just the context completely is not fitting. Yeah, I really like most of FT's characters and their interactions… If only the storytelling and pacing would be better.

For example, in One Piece we are discussing what shall be considered arc and saga - because... there's actually a solidly crafted story structure with an actual curve of suspension. FT, however, is just a stringing together of random events (with some very rudimentary overarching plot).

GazelxLevy shippers out there must be rejoicing with how it turns out. Unsurprisingly Breadman turns out just as flat as villain could ever hope to be. He says it's barrier particle shit, but I'm seeing Crocodile with his sand logia active. Gee, I wonder what's the other dude like.

Also, can't the characters ever shut the fuck up about how powerful August is?

If there is one thing I always liked about this series it was Character interactions. Even though sometimes it is the exact opposite of tone with the situation, I could still get behind it. Heck, this is why some stuff early on could actually be pretty powerful because the individual interactions could be great. Despite it leading nowhere in the end and being contrived, I did get emotional when Lisanna reunited with her siblings. When Laxus was banished from the guild when he was leaving I did really like the scene where Makarov gave his farewell. As the series has gone on though, it's harder to get these moments because as a reader its hard to get the feeling it will mean anything in the end. In this chapter, the part with Eileen was actually pretty cool looking, and if it had been early on in the series I would've been pumped. Problem is after so many arcs and knowing who Achnologia is, it's hard to not think about how the hype won't bring anything. The other problem is with August, where having a negotiation would be interesting, but with how everything else has been handled, we know it's going to just end in a fight.

The problem with the boob scene is - while it's funny on its own - it's so misplaced. Not only does it not fit to the tone, it's also completely destroys what it's trying to actually build-up. The overall situation is serious and August is so strong and such a threat. Even with Brandish supporting them, the negotiations won't be easy. Brandish herself is terrified of August and the whole situation. But this completely gets nullified by her making boobie shenanigans literally ten seconds before.

How am I supposed to take this serious in any way? Hell, from what we've seen now, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out like this:

Natsu: I'm gonna punch you!
Lucy goes in-between Natsu and August
Lucy: Stop! Please forgive him. He…
Brandish makes her breast growing again right into August's face
August enters from serious mode into pervert mode
August: Yay! Boobies!

Which may or may not lead to an actual battle, anyway. I. Do. Not. Care.

I just wished Fairy Tail itself would stop to take itself seriously even remotely close. Seriously, I wouldn't mind FT going on forever after this arc. But please, just stop this overarching plot and just do smaller random plots with funny character interactions and… without pretenting to have plot.

Mashima has crossed a line that I don't think he meant to cross. There's no going back now. Every chapter, every plot he tries to make, will now be shadowed by Lucy's gigantic breasts. What an unfortunate fate.

Fairy tail really is the japanese equivalent of 80's TMNT. It was never well written, it was always goofy and the conflict is only there to enable action scenes. Replace pizza with boobs and the comparison is complete.

I like this sentiment. Fairy Tail is a light hearted comedy/action manga that ruins the mood be being really, really creepy. I could make a list, but I don't think it's needed. The fact that we can make a list is a problem in it's own right.

Shame, I'd probably blab on more about this if I was more invested Manga/Anime-wise like say 2-3 years ago but sadly my heart now lies with those other 2 media I mentioned - all I'll say is that without Fairy Tail I would've never discovered One Piece - similar to how Nolan films lead imdb fanboys to discover Kurosawa. Which time skip are you referring to? The one where the people on the island got frozen for 7 years and while it seemed like things were bad for Fairy Tail the Status Quo didn't change? Or the one where the guild disbanded for reasons but a year later came back together and the status quo was still the same?

After the guild fought a bunch of demons the guildmaster for some reason decided to break up the guild and everyone went there separate ways. A year later Natsu reunited with Lucy, then over the span of two really small arcs (like 10 chapters or something), the main people got back together, then in one chapter almost everyone came back to Magnolia and were like "we totes want the guild to be back", despite these being all characters that we don't care about. Lucy cried and was happy to have her family back together, but in actual reader time there was no feeling that this split up had any impact whatsoever. Then Erza was guildmaster when they went to get old guildmaster again and that's how this entire current war arc started.

God, the more I think about it, the more I understand Zephos' frustration at calling "Rave Master" worst of the worst.

That's the best part here, I'm not even making this stuff up. I did leave details out like emo Grey pretending to be evil to infiltrate a small guild while making Juvia suffer love sickness by just leaving her without saying anything. Said guild then gets defeated no problem, and even after summoning a god Natsu One Punch mans the thing and they all leave happy. Also Juvia is okay with Grey doing what he did, and beats the crap out of woman who had a crush on Grey that was from the evil guild. Other thing is that a group from the guild was going to sneak into another kingdom to save the old guildmaster, but before they can get to the country they are found out, and just skip all the possible interesting stuff and use warping magic to get him, and before getting defeated by FT Crocodile Laxus saves them. Then the magnum opus is Lucy naked in the tub with one of the enemy mages.

Having big boobs was never a thing for me. This shit is written for young Japanese boys, I get that, it's the girls who are boobs and nothing else who are annoying. Lucy started off (with smaller boobs mind) to be quite competent and resourceful, so refreshing from Naruto's Sakura, and even Nami and Robin (they haven't really done shit in years fight wise). Then he decided to basically make her a porn star. What a waste.

I don't really see how this boob gag made anything any worse. Poorly timed and awkward humor is like a staple of FT nearly since the beginning.

The show could be a lot better if some of the stuff was trimmed down, but it doesn't look like Mashima even cares.

The same as Rukia's "peach" ass comment and Masaki floating naked in the void. Le fanservice!

….which is odd. Compared to Fairy Tail, obviously it doesn't have half as much, but it's kinda been scattered about here and there recently. You kinda had it in the beginning with Kon being Kon and Chizuru being Chizuru, then it was practically not there for SS (save for Yoruichi's true form) and the Arrancar invasion (save for the Rangiku bathing scene).

Then Hueco Mundo....and I guess Harribel's released form count?, but after the Aizen stuff it kinda creeped back up.

Orihime in particular is an odd example....Kubo's been more conservative than what you would expect from a 15-17 year old with a large bust size....imagine if Mashima had control over her lol

The early on stuff with Bleach and its fan service wasn't a problem, especially before SS stuff. The tone was lighthearted enough that it wasn't a huge problem. Even with the Yoroichi reveal it wasn't that bad, and it kind of added to her personality. Any fanservice that happened later was just bizarre and felt more out of place. I don't recall Rukia ever being used for fanservice or jokes like that, then bam, butt joke. It's even worse when the reason she is in there is because she was on the verge of death. The Orohime part was just weird, but it wasn't anything exaggerated or prolonged. In the end I'm just glad Kubo hasn't gone full fanservice, and the worst was the color page with the females in swimsuits.

I still stand by the worst case of fanservice comes from Histories Strongest Disciple (from the series I have read). A story that went into some really dark things, but let's throw in as much fanservice as possible to take away the tone. Sure, this chapter of Fairy Tail may have done a boob joke, but it was short and not super in the face like Kenichi was with its fanservice.

Part of the problem was Urahara being sneaky (injecting it in her ass, really Kubo?), but my hang-up was how she carried on. Her flashing her form to Ichigo was indeed part of her personality - being cheeky and teasing serious-minded people like him (and Byakuya+Soi), but in thundercat mode she's not even in control of the situation.

Dangit, I had that forgotten about that and now I remember. Worse part for me was Yoroichi and Urahara were still characters I really liked, and that fight knocked them down a good bit. Yeah, that was a pretty bad moment and just another really low moment in this arc.

Sigh, the only good things I have to recall this arc with is Mask and Pernida, and that's not much for an arc that has taken up a significant chunk of this entire series. The stuff with Rukia and Renji should've been good because they were characters I've liked since they were introduced, but now they are like most other characters who can't emote anything else but smug in battles.

At least HSDK has a story, even with the amount of fanservice in it. Try reading maken ki or shinmai maou no testament. Both have very little story, and a fuck ton of fanservice, and are basically soft core hentai.

It's not a boob joke since the writer of fairy tail wants to make a hentai manga but does not want to lose sales since the buyers would have to be older to buy it and if it was a hentai manga we would most likely not be allowed to talk about it on the forums since the mods don't want us posting porn on here lol.

It has been said in a past interview with him that he does not like Japan's nudity censorship in manga since they're just drawings to him.

every chapter of fairy tail has fan service which is why i read it this is hentai tail and it's no different than people reading bleach to see the remaining bankai's.

Forget As Nodt's fear and Askin's still-abstract-death-dealing, I personally found Giselle to have the most frightening power of all of the Stern Ritters, partially attributed to the display the Femritters had against the unlucky 11th Division in their intro scenes.

Then Bambietta got my pity when she was used as a zombie doll for extra abuse, then Hitsugaya got hit with the zombie stick, and the only solution for that was to be Mayuri'd. Szayel can attest that being Mayuri'd is a very very painful experience.

they first had a 7 year timeskip before the tournament
then they had a 1 year timeskip when the guild disbanded before the war.

Fairy Tail at least provides readers with a steady diet of tits & ass, whereas Bleach disappoints on absolutely every level.
