Reading the WSJ translation, I don't get why Bakugou would make that kind of face, he got angry when All Might implied that he was scared, but when All Might puts his hand on him he wasn't saying anything that might be implied as an insult, so.. something more inocent? as in "my hero is touching me!!"

He might just not like being touched. He doesn't exactly go out of his way to initiate physical contact unless he's fighting.

He calls him 'ano meriken otoko', which just means 'that American guy'. With context though, he's definitely using it condescendingly.

Look at the bunch of heroes that practically just crushed all for one's organization. Compare to justice league where only the league of doom and aliens could keep the league at bay long enough to be considered recurring threats.

These heroes are not just powerful but have the backing of society and the law, what kind of villian do you expect to be able to stand against that just with power alone? The good guys have too many advantages right now.

A lex luthor type of villian with a good social face might fly, but those require the twist of "oh he was evil all along". Before that it is Just too soon to tell.
A joker type, well, there were moonfish and muscle head, that just survive by existing in the fringe of society and doing whatever.
A magneto type? We had stain already, and there is the fallout of his disciples.
A doom type? On the open? When there are this many heroes that are willing to work together? That was all for one in his prime. And he lost his face because of it.

I like this almost Utopian setup. Makes it all the more interesting when it comes crashing down after All Might's death, with every goon creeping out the woodwork trying to get a slice of that post All Might world pie.

Gotta give credit to All For One for taking things slow after his defeat. Building up forces, infiltrating the UA; he's covering all his bases. I'm actually more scared for the good guys because things are going so well.

Alternate definition of "meriken" (explicitly without the "a") is fist/meathead. I went with that one because evidence points to AM being Japanese (named Toshinori, went to U.A. as a kid) and there's no sense in shooting myself in the foot later with a throwaway line that could potentially misidentify his nationality.

Possibly, but literally calling him an American didn't feel like the right choice. Meta stuff is fun but not when it has potential character-background-info implications. Besides, there's no evidence that "American superheroes" as we think of them necessarily exist in the MHA universe, unless you take those Superman/Spiderman silhouettes in chapter 1 as canon.

Imagine if he learns of the fact that AfO can grant quirks as well. He'll probably think Midoriya got his quirk from him. If that info then get's out to other people Midoriya will be in deep trouble. The only way out would be for All Might or any of his trusted allies to either reveal OfA or come up with one very good excuse. Doesn't help that there's suspicious about a traitor.

Of course it's all speculation, but it would be a fun scenario.

I hope we get an America/trip-to-another-foreign-country arc. It'd be neat to see how other countries reacted to quirks. ~~Plus we could totally get a prom arc.~~

And seeing as how U.A. is the best hero school in the whole WORLD, it wouldn't surprise me if it had multiple campuses around the globe.

It could just be a double meaning. He punches things and his hero persona is like that of a stereotypical boisterous American.

There's isn't really any way to convey both at once in English, sadly. And saying "That 'American' man" just sounds weird.

Hmm…. But wouldn't the Japanese refer "American" as "Ameri**kan" not Amerike**n?. So IMHO I think Glib and MS is more contextually correct in this case though I'd understand your reasons for doing so.

Pixie-Bob is Earthflow.
Tiger is Pliabody.

As a supplement to other stuff, Search is definitely the best of Pussycats' Quirks.

Biggest takeaway from the chapter is

! Shigaraki seems to be confirmed as Shimura's son. All Might's predecessor of OFA.

Those kids are sweating bullets right now and is actually pretty cool having Midoriya witness what he has to overcome in the future, but I do wonder, will the Villains have a field trip for a few years till Midoriya can become strong enough or will this not have a major effect on the story.

All Might is as good as dead and take Gran Torino with you!

We don't exactly know the way Search works, though. Like maybe you scan a person and the "info" you get is just "Quirk grants super strength/speed- weakness is lack of control." There's no guarantee it would reveal the arbitrary name picked for that Quirk, because it's definitely not a mind-reading power.

Although honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if AFO already knows Izuku's secret and hasn't told Shigaraki and co. for the purposes of some long-game Xanatos' Roulette.

Damn, I hate vague stuff like that. What is he supposed to have done to his opponents and why exactly did the clothes quirk not work. Am I simply suppose to think, he is strong and deal with it?

Anyway, the tides are really turning, I particularly am afraid for All might. I hope he gets to accomplish some last heroic deeds before he is gone.

So we don't know. I always hated the whole notion of making a cool panel if you can't explain it clearly. Like PH being half-half with a lake in the middle.

From the description of it "they kept telling me they would come…" It seemed more like a situation that lasted for some time. Like shitty family or another similar thing so I doubt he was the culprit.

Kenji Hikiishi- health-magnet pull-stone
Atushiro Sako- pressure-large trapdoor
Shuichi Iguchi- (nothing really- super common kanji, which is fitting since it seems like he's just a stinking lizardman)
Himiko Toga- wear-body-child pass-self- again, nothing really
Jin Bubaigawara- humanity portion-double-river bed (the "humanity" kanji conveniently has the kanji for "two" as part of it ;P)

And in case we forgot…
Tomura Shigaraki- mourn death-pattern-tree. His codename borrows the phonetics from his real name (Tenko Shimura), but not the kanji.
Shimura is super common and doesn't mean much, but the kanji for Tenko, here, are "turn/roll-arc," where the ko (arc) is part of a common phrase- koeishouzen- which means, "lonely and crestfallen." A bit of a stretch, but it would fit.
