Congrats on getting S rank and good luck in the tournament Nami! Sorry if I missed it but what's the name of your team? Also, you said your playing with a blaster now. Any other weapons you want to master?

I've been working on all the semi-automatics and the Luna Blaster. Most say the H-3 Nozzlenose is garbage and its true close-combat is a major weakness but I love its range and ink capacity.

I usually play with Carbon Roller and Splattershot nowadays. Splattershot is my BF's Main weapon and he's so good with it. I tried it out for fun and it actually worked out pretty well for me. Burst Bombs <3
But yeah, I still use a lot of Rollers :)

Anyone wanna tell who's the most popular cause I haven't got a clue.

As for the update, the only weapons I'm interested in are the Wasabi Spattershot and Soda Slosher. Maybe Berry if I'm feeling up to dealing with an ink guzzler. Faster running with the Jet Squelcher and the Splash series getting a buff works for me more than new weapons. But, nerfing Cold Blooded sucks. I love that ability now. Speaking of new, I just learned a couple days ago you can hold the camera by pressing Y. I feel so advanced.

Watched some streams earlier of people trying the new weapons and saw someone destroying with the Berry Splattershot Pro even without a single ink mitigation ability. It almost made me want to try using it XD.

I tried the Berry Pro in the practice range, and it felt good enough that I bought it, even though I haven't played in months. I think I still would've preferred for it to have the Inkstrike as a special (and the Wasabi's color scheme) but Bomb Rush is a decent alternative.

I honestly still have a hard time believing that this is true.

Also still sad about the burst bomb buff. Yes, for me it's a buff. you know what a difference it is only having 2 instead of 5burst bombs? It's HUGE. At least it rly is easier now to paint walls. And getting only one burst bomb extra with TWO mains.. is awful.
Have not found my way back into the game since the update.
My path on finding my weapon is still going.

Might I recommend the Splash and/or Sploosh series. I equip some Damage, Defense, and Run for a good ole time. I'm starting to realize as I need speedy weapons and they get the job done, mostly.

You try Sloshers? I don't use them much but for some reason I can see you hurting many o' squids with them.

And kudos to Nintendo/Nick for not starting this Splatfest at or near midnight.

Oh I do still like rollers, they're just impractical for some maps and against some opponents.

Sloshers are.. nice, I guess but haven't played enough with them. They're kinda too slow for me XD

Robby and I just got this last week. Getting used to the controls were not that intuitive we found. Its OK so far but it sucks being the newb and being put against high level players. Also, we wonder what will happen in a few years when this game is not so popular anymore. All the action is in the online versus. Also, is there some way to make those stupid news girls shut up and stop talking to us?

Same. I just tried playing because I wanted to give the new weapons a shot. It went fine for a while, and then suddenly the game just hated me. Teleporting enemies, shots not registering, invincible players, all-around everything down to me falling in the water multiple times because the game didn't register my jumps. It's really sad. I watch streams and get excited because I see how fun it looks, but then unless by some miracle the server decides to like me I can't do anything. I actually streamed my entire session so I have proof of all the bullshit. Not that anyone cares.

Got to play with Fool for most of that and, indeed, it was the stupidest crap. The game would go from us doing perfectly fine and things being reasonable, and then at a particular point someone in the enemy team is invincible and we can't do a single thing.

My favorite moment was when Fool kept exploding next to me inexplicably, and his screen would tell him it was a suction bomb.

But yea, I remember now why I had stopped playing this. Shame too because the Permanent Inkbrush is good stuff.

I watched the majority of the stream last night, and it was indeed bullshit. I'm glad I "shelved" (it's a digital copy) Splatoon, and especially that I never bothered to try getting into ranked. With the combination of my pretty shitty internet speed, and the servers sucking, I'd just be losing and salting most of the time, I'm sure.

Nah. But still it's super annoying because under normal play circumstances I eat A-rank alive. When I was at Noqanky's place last time, I spent a couple evening starting a new profile and blasted straight into high A+ effortlessly. And that was WITHOUT GEAR. Didn't quite make it to S that time but if the game had continued to play as intended it shouldn't have been a major issue.

I forgot to mention something to add to the list of bullshit BTW. On at least two occasions doing the 2-squads, we got sabotaged by our teammates. They would do nothing but sit there waiting for the Rainmaker's shield to break, then rapidly grab it and sit there squidbagging until killed. I mean shit, Noqanky and I were STILL able to push forward a decent amount, but you can't win under those circumstances.

Back at S rank and feel dirty relying on the Splattershot Jr. I LOVE using bombs but I depend too much on them. After losing S the first time I switched to weapons without it and feel my overall play style improved.

Teamwork :/ it's nearly impossible alone, especially without range, and unless you have your whole team pushing and infiltrating at once (preferably with specials) it can be a huge pain on many maps.

Haha thanks man. At first I was just messing around with the new Splattershot Pro; I have absolutely no experience with that weapon class. I was also toying with the sensitivity setting (I ramped it up actually). I remember there was a match at one point on Hammerhead where the weapon just sort of clicked for me and I started rampaging. But eventually I went back to my ranked standard .96 Deco.

I actually think I move too much. I always feel I need to be making use of every second to take ground and apply pressure, but the truth is I think I really need to learn when to just hide and surprise people. Especially if there are snipers. My other self-criticism is that sometimes I pursue people too deep or stubbornly face off against an opponent when I should probably retreat or go elsewhere.

The thing is, watching my recording (this is the first time I stream Splatoon, as I recently got my capture card), it's painfully obvious to me how the lag issues actually affect my play style. Even when surprising people or coming up from behind, I'm afraid to engage in close combat because so damn often they just don't die and have time to move and retaliate. I activate Kraken in situations where I shouldn't need it because I just KNOW I would get screwed by the game. I stand too still when trying to kill someone because I feel it's hard enough as it is to get the game to register my hits. I don't know. I don't like what it's trained me to do.

Thanks Foolio. Teamwork is something I can improve. I love helping but that's when I come across them while doing my own thing. Guess I'll work on that while picking a new weapon type to work on. As much as I hate charger enemies, I may give the charger weapon class a try. Know Your Enemy.

Spatoon Moment of the Week: Keeping squids at bay at Hammerhead Bridge for the last minute and half of the match. Died a couple times but kept going back. Was finally killed by a Splatterscope in the last moments who was thirsty to take me out himself. While squidbagging with his team mate, he and his friend blow up from my Suction Bomb behind them.

Wow, lots of hate for Splatfests. True, I didn't like this one (don't care about Spongebob and lost too many times.) but I had fun in the past. My formula for a good Splatfest comes down to:
1. Good theme
2. Good maps (Mahi-Mahi)
Everything else I can deal with.

Wanna give a shout-out to the cowards who played keep away with the rainmaker on Ancho-V. Got a small lead not one minute into the match then retreated to the small fan platform near their base. You can tell they did it before from the way they position themselves (had someone with Ink Wall blocking the path). Screw you.

Welcome to S, Nephy! I made it again 2 days ago as well after spending way too much time in A-Rank Hell where poeple still don't know how to play the game.

Oh and yesterday I was TO in my first Tourney and we run it so well that the splatoon community praises us for being the best tourney in the west <3 Wohoo, nice!

It would be pretty cool to do some 4-squads, since that's something that I've never really been able to organize. Though ideally before that I could get S back. I'm in A+ right now and doing solo queues I've just been overall incredibly frustrated, as you said Nami, by the number of people who don't know how to even play the game (apart from lag which on bad days makes it impossible). Especially on Rainmaker, what is morons' fixation on trying to rush the thing straight down the middle path to the enemy camp, AND without proper support?

But I had one match that made me lose my mind. It was again Rainmaker, on Museum, and we had made it to 12 with a comfortable lead. 15 seconds on the clock and I killed the enemy who had the Rainmaker, for some reason perched way up on one of the mesh platforms way at the top of the big rotating structure on our side of the map. Basically an impossible location for their team to break through and capture in a few seconds. So after my team broke the shield I just stayed on the wall leading to that platform waiting for it to count down, and MAYBE kill someone or steal it if needed. So what happens? My idiot teammate swims up past me, grabs the rainmaker, drops down and starts firing it off wildly from an unprotected ledge. He gets killed, with 5 seconds left they break the shield (killing another teammate), push the Rainmaker in overtime, and actually take the lead. I swear it's a good thing I can't strangle people through the internet.

Okay well tonight somehow the lag gods were kind. I just won like 5 straight matches and ranked up super easily. Went 8/1 for one match. So… who wants to do squads? We really need a 4-squad going.

I was at Noqanky's place for the past several days and at one point we decided to play ranked on my alt account using a randomizer to pick our weapons each match. All weapon varieties were on the list and the gear was never swapped in any way (it's not like that account even has gear; none of what we were using was slotted or rolled properly). So we just went weapon to weapon, alternating matches. It was pretty damn fun, especially being forced to use stuff we never would otherwise. We also did really well. Ranked up to about S 50.
