Something being weird with the timeline was a thing since last chapter, you'd have to chalk the roger comment to momo lying or mistaking roger for ace because the voice of all plots or something, and the comment on cat and dog being such good friends as just a story and momo meeting them for the first time, and the shogun leaving oden live the relatively good life for 20 or so years.

The irregular part is the zou kings not reacting to momo's age. And the how, but there is something inconsistent.

Yabadabadoo! No way Luffy was going to go alone! When Oda said the Swirly Hats would get highlights in the coming year I guess this is what he was alluding to. Franky, Usopp and Zoro had a lot of great moments during Dressrosa so I don't mind giving them a years rest for the sake of the others who missed out. I know people don't like that Robin didn't defeat a Doflamingo executive on her own but with all that she did in the arc it satisfied me for the most part. I loved her aid against big lips Aerosmith(forgot his name), I loved how she silently took that hit from his spike rain, and as far as I'm concerned, Robin was the winner of tournament round Block B. Well which ever one Rebecca won.

Robin asks for a copy, watch Luffy come back with 2 full slabs of the original glyphs.

I figured Crocus knew the true history as well. When he first met the straw hats he made it fairly clear talking to himself about how Luffy and the others may be the pirates that Crocus and the rest of the roger pirates were waiting for.

Nekomamushi & Inu vs Jack - given they have a personal grudge match and have to settle the score.
Marco vs 1 of the remaining 2 "Disasters/Calamities" or w.e the hell you call em.

I can also say with a certain degree of certainty, I am vindicated in what i said many years ago about those that claimed it'd be a straight up fight between the SH's and the Blackbeard Pirates.. The WB crew that remains were completely routed by the BB and
look at the preparations being made to take on Kaido.

I do hope 1 day, the WB pirates that remain get a 2nd shot at vengence against Blackbeard by teaming up with the SH's to take em on once again. In the end, BB lays defeated and they dish out some good old justice WB pirates style.

The biggest reveal was when Inu said that the Log poses are "programmed" to Point on isles with poneglyphes, so if translating that ancient language was not forbidden, everybody could sail to Raftel. Really interesting info.

The Log pose route leads you to a place where you are supposed to learn about the existence of Raftel and the Road Poneglyphs. So even if translating the ancient language was not forbidden, I don't see how could everybody sail to Raftel. You'd need to have all 4 Road Poneglyphs that exist for that - Kaido and Big Mom each have one, one is really well hidden on Zou and nobody even knows where the fourth one is. So yeah, good luck with that

I did not read all of the comments in this thread yet but I haven't seen anybody bring up the one thing that really confused me in this chapter, which surprises me.

Robin says that she will go to Wano to have a look at the poneglyph Kaidou has there. That seems like very much of a stretch: I'm pretty sure we don't know for how long he has been there, but I felt like the implication was that it was not for long yet, if it wasn't very recent. Why would she instantly assume he brought his RP over there?

Then he's like, explain more later if Marco makes it back to the story. I have a very good feeling the majority of them are coming back with major handicaps. Handicaps that won't prevent them from putting up a good fight, but just enough that the Straw Hats will have to do most of the heavy lifting.

Guys like legless Aokiji & Dogstorm, armless Jozu & Catviper will have some company. Certainly capable but no longer at their peak.

He is 1 of them after all, and they have a duty to make sure they put an end to him. He has tarnished the WB Pirates name & flag. They deserve some redemption - they were the No.1 Pirate crew in the world.

For a story to work well with it, it pretty much has to be entirely focused on it. With it as the main point and plot. Like Back to the Future and Chrono Trigger.
When it gets forced into otherwise unrelated stories, especially late in the game it's almost always a fucking mess.
Also very lazy writing half the time even when the author doesn't make a mess.

That this is even being suggested based off dialogue of a mistaken kid who probably is thinking of Ace is just lol.

Sorry, but Marco and Co. are not main characters. They're not going to to take away the spotlight of the crew of the future Pirate King.

The Whitebeard Pirates are the Old Age. The Straw Hats are the New Age. The New Age will be the one shaping the world.

There's a reason we have 11 top Blackbeard Pirates, reflecting on the eventual 11 Straw Hats. We even have a sniper, a navigator and a doctor in the Blackbeard Pirates.

The entire point of Mihawk being unable to cut Jozu's diamonds in Marineford was to set up Zoro cutting diamonds, thus surpassing Mihawk.

Shiryu can use dirty tricks and devil fruit powers and hostages against a half dead Zoro so that its still narratively interesting.

We're absolutely going to see the Zoro/Mihawk fight, no way Oda is denying us that after ~30 years of buildup when the time comes. But narratively it no longer has any weight as a final challenge, that stopped being the case when Mihawk took him on as a student. Zoro and Mihawk are on too good of terms and there's not really any conflict there that would believably put them seriously at odds for an all out island cutting in half both are left exhausted and nearly dead sort of super battle. Visually and emotionally it'll probably be a satisfying fight, but there's very little dramatic in at this point on the scale of worldwide stakes.

In fact it would be a kind of interesting full circle if both Zoro and Mihawk ae wounded from their mutual fight before the final big bads come along.

It has been set up from the very beginning of the story, Zoro is after Mihawk. he is the target. He will be the final battle to claim the title of the world's greatest swordsman. Just because Shiliew is on BB's crew doesn't mean he has to be the world's greatest
swordsman.

How are they on "good terms"?
Mihawk has respect for Zoro, but it doesn't mean they are on good terms. He clearly has a liking for Luffy too but that didn't stop him actively trying to kill him back at Marineford.

The one piece won't end with Luffy at Raftel, same way the story doesn't have to end when Zoro gets the WSS title. Zoro can be WSS before the final arc, no need to get it in the very last second of the manga.

Not really though, because that's awkward and super unsatisfactory.
Zoro's last big fight has to be for the title. Because it's his dream. And he would still be fighting from an underdog position.
If he's the reigning champ with an already accomplished dream…the gravitas of the Shiryu fight will be weak and puny. Nor will there be drama involved that would exist if Shiryu took down Mihawk.

You kinda presented the argument as to why the promised fight doesn't actually need to happened.
A frustrated tragically missed out fight is a form of tragedy that works very well narratively.
If Zoro's dream has been watered down by the years and subsequent relationships, and become a box old fans are waiting around to see checked? Yeah that's a great reason for Oda to shoot some unexpected uber-drama into the veins of that dream.

Yes SHs are the main characters, but the world doesn't revolve around him. They will be top and main ones to take down Teach. But Whitebeards not even being able to participate in the fight and help Luffy with the crew at least. It's just.. wrong in many ways.
I get it's a shonen and stuff, but it's just unfair in every way for Whitebeards to be dishonoured like that and for their attempt of defeating BB to go in vain.

Mihawk has respect for Zoro, but it doesn't mean they are on good terms. He clearly has a liking for Luffy too but that didn't stop him actively trying to kill him back at Marineford.

He became his mentor and trained him for two years. They're on good terms, even if they've agreed to a big fight someday.

Because Raftel isn't the last stop. Its just the setup for the great war and the ancient weapons. Raftel hasn't been the location of the final arc since at least when we met Rayleigh, if not longer than that.

Hell, Luffy getting to Raftel just saves BB the trouble of finding and deciphering the four map pieces.

If Zoro's dream has been watered down by the years and subsequent relationships, and become a box old fans are waiting around to see checked? Yeah that's a great reason for Oda to shoot some unexpected uber-drama into the veins of that dream.

There'll be something to mix it up, sure. But we're not getting denied something promised for that long in some form.

It might turn out they had a big fight at the end of the timeskip and we see that someday (when Zoro lost the eye) or they fight to a brutal point that leaves them both messed up enough for Shiryu to do whatever to them, so Zoro is half dead while defending his title.
Possibly Shiryu beats Mihawk first and gets the title, and then Zoro and him have a fun match later, I dunno. I dunno.

Oda twists expectations sure, but that one is not a promise we're going to go without. Same as a reunion with Shanks. Shanks may die 20 minutes after Luffy leaves to then have a second tragic reunion right after a couple days later, (Luffy gives back the hat, then Shanks dies, and Luffy takes back the hat) but I just don't see Oda pulling out that particular rug after so long. Same way when we get to One Piece there's going to be a room full of a giant two page spread of gold coins. Even if narratively its not the real treasure or point, we're still going to see it after decades of promising it.
There's just no build for SHiryu. Luffy and BB yes, but SHiryu hasn't had any real presence yet. It will be the final battle, I'm not denying that, but… it doesn't have 30 years of build up and anticipation.-

On the other hand, h DID kill Ace, so I dunno.
