Yeah, it would almost certainly be limited to starters.
Its not like they don't get unique powerful moves, unique typings, megas for all of them, and generally higher than standard stats overall or anything.

With Kyurem it made sense because it was hollow and Reshiram/Zekrom filled that emptiness, and the only other mon to be described as hollow is Shedinja. I really don't see how could they explain how or why would other mons fuse together, and as pointed out, if they do the combinations would be too many to even think about it, and so it would be stupid in the first place to implement it only for a few.

Same explanation as any other previously not existing evolution, and mega stones in general.
"Oh, we found this unique stone out west that seems to allow pokemon to be able to fuse temporarily! Isn't evolution mysterious? We haven't fully explored it yet but it seems to work mostly with Charizards."
And there's already cases where two mons share mutual traits due to swapping bits. Shelder and Slowbro get two different evolutions together. Mantine needs a remoriad, Shelmet and Karrablast only evolve when traded together. Pancham needs another dark type with it to evolve. Plus the huge number of mons that need special items or stones to evolve. There'c certainly precedent for mutual evolutions.
Yes, you don't ACTUALLY need a shelder to evolve Slowbrow, but the principle is there. But imagine if say, Sandslash could fuse with Excadrill to borrow its steel claws? Or Kangaskan with Chancey to carry an egg and learn softboiled but be able to hit hard? Stuff like that.

Finally, we waited 20 years, but we can finally have it:

OMG!!! We'll have a Pikachu wearing a dead Mega Slowbro carcass? - BEST POKÉMON GAME EVER
On a serious note, I will pretend to believe this is real because after 5 days of suffering for actual news, I need something to make me believe I will survive 10 months.
It's fake. It's this thing:

Hopes dashed in record time.
2 seconds.
There was also the astoundingly horrible Spanish grammar to tip people off.
Well, people who know Spanish.
Is Satoshi/Ash Greninja actually a fusion of the trainer and pokemon? I was under the impression that the Pokemon was just taking on elements of the trainer and not a Digimon-ish combination of the two.

When a trainer and a pokémon love each other very much…. They achieve a mega evolution without a mega stone or something
gasps Pokemon gijinka will become a reality!!!!!!!

Well they don't fuse, but Satoshi and Greninja "align" themselves their souls or wtv and he changes forme and Satoshi feels the damage Greninja takes himself, like he gets tackled and he feels the tackle(to some point which it breaks the transformation), they can do this because their bond is really stronge, meanwhile he can't do this with any other pokemon including Pikachu lol, plothole.
They didn't want to give the kid a mega evo so they made a mega evo that isn't a mega evo but is a mega evo.
I'm not falling again to those fakes. I'm just going to wait till Coro Coro is out for sale, that is the best way to tell if the leak is real or not.
You could also know from the fact it was literally already proven fake two posts or so after it was posted.
This fusion thing will ruin the games for me if it happens.
Am I the only one who feels its too early for a 7th gen? there are a lot of things that need to be explored and explained in 6th gen before jumping into the 7th gen.

I wouldn't call Zygarde a lot of things. I can see they wrap up that b4 holidays.

Right now, sure. In a year when it comes out? No.
It'll have been 3 years at that point which is a normal cycle. And last gen had a lot less monsters than usual, due to all the megas.
I still like the theory of this one being a continuation of Kalos in the same way Johto continued from Kanto, since that would justify partially the low number of new Pokemon in sixth gen.
Though if that were the case I wonder if we'd see Team Flare again or something new altogether (Team Eclipse?)
Man E3 can't come quick enough. I want to know more about S&M

We'll know plenty before June. Next Cocoro in a couple weeks will probably reveal the starters, box legends and trainers.
They're starting the announcemnt/reveals a bit later than they did with XY, but it probably just means the actual game will be out a bit later.
Yeah was E3 ever really the big place to announce pokemon stuff? I always thought that Corocoro and Pokemon Sunday were the main venues of being disappointed with new Pokemon.
@Purple:

Now that I look back at it you're right lol.
Coro Coro can't come fast enough

Based on how X and Y went… no, not really. The only thing I can recall being revealed at E3 for pokemon that year was the Fairy typing. I want to say that's the last major Pokemon news we've gotten in E3, since 2014 only had a small trailer of ORAS (of which we already knew about and which revealed nothing particularly noteworthy) and 2015 was a coordinated mess of an E3 that we all best forget.
And come to think of it the Fairy typing had been rumored/leaked heavily before then too.
Personally I'm kind of amused that they make such a huge deal about how pokemon is international and being localized in all these regions at the same time... and yet all important news and information take place in japan from very japanese media aimed at very japanese fans.
Yeah I def remember heavy speculation on fairy typing and that on pokemon sunday they basically is strong against dark and weak against poison, and they demonstrated the poison weakness by holding a stinky sock to some person representing sylveon or fairy typing
Regardless if it is too soon or not I'm so hyped for a new GEN!.
I want character customization to come back. I hated that they removed it from ORAS

I don't think it'll be Southern Kalos or anything close to that. There's some good evidence that the new region will be based on Hawaii. The strange souvenir, the game's rumored codename (Niji = Rainbow), the concept arts which shows yellow firetrucks and cars with rainbow license plates (which can both be found on Hawaii), the overall tropical island feeling, the driver's seat being on the left, some cryptic hints from the development team ("flowers", Masuda wearing a Hawaiian shirt)… even the one Vivilion they chose for the trailer is the Hawaiian one !

There's actually more evidence pointing at the South Pacific given the building in the concept art highly matches the Raffles (sp?) Hotel in Singapore.
If that were the case, it'd be an interesting connection with Kalos given the French colonial influence in Southeast Asia.
Note also I'm mentioning a connection to X and Y which isn't necessarily a region that is geographically attached to the old one. Plenty of ways to travel back to Kalos.

The hotle is the only evidence for Singapore, while there are full theories of Hawai, including Masuda yesterday posting a picture with an Hawain shirt, eating Hawain food, etc and that was after people were speculating about Hawai already, unless he reads forums and is trolling people I think he might be giving hints, just like he took a picture of the moon when Pokemon Moon and Sun registry files were leaked.
Why not both? A pacific adventure, through a bunch of islands, you can't surf between the large ones and have to use another hm or a vehicle to get there.
Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 2 p.m., get your bodies ready.

It's a presentation about the games coming out this summer, not sure we will get anything Pokemon related, but let's hope I guess.

Why the hell would they not show anything for the big announcement, and then have something at the direct just a couple days later? I wouldn't get your hopes up, they're saving the reveal for Cocoro or something.
We can always hope, even if it's just a tidbit.

They almost always go outside of that time frame by the end of the Direct. Regardless, if they had anything they were ready to show about Pokemon Sun and Moon, they would have shown it in the Pokemon Direct, so yeah, do not expect more info on Sun and Moon in this Direct.
I wonder why they didn't have anything ready for the 26th in the first place. I hope they're not rushing these games out for 2016… Pokemon is at its best when it's full of content.
Eh. They gave us a nice 20th anniversary video with the announcement as the cherry on top. That's not bad. We just hoped for more. Pokemon has been busy recently.

That was what I though, if they have nothing to show on the damn anniversary besides names and they plan to release the game this year, it feels like it might be rushed, I'll wait to see if CoroCoro has something before saying anything else.
Its Pokemon. Even if its "rushed", that doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing. If they're still using the sprite and amie assetts (And barring a system upgrade there's no reason not to, those graphics were future proofed quality and already pushing the DS pretty hard)… and there's precedent of gen 3 sprites being reused through gen 4) then a tooon of work is done for them already, and they did a lot of balancing with ORAS already. And hell, they can slap the XY map onto the second half of the game to have instant extra content and gyms.
I dunno what a typical development team or development cycle actually is for this franchise, but... as big and important as it is, they can put in the money needed to get it done and done well. Game Freak currently has a staff of like 80 people, and even that they split up across multiple games in development at a time.
If they really need to, they can get all hands on deck to work on this one project, and temp hire another 40 guys for the next 10 months to get it done. They can throw the budget at it thats needed for things to be done quick.
Or maybe heaven forbid, they'll finally figure out they can release dlc that doesn't need ot be on-cart at launch, so everything doesn't get datamined in the first 20 minutes and can slow release aspects of the game over time, particularly legends and events and maybe even extra islands and gyms.
Oh? I didn't see this thread before? XD Anyways I had a video that was posted on the older Pokemon thread. So why not post it here then. XD
Verlisify. Yuck.
Corocoro has leaked and…. has no information whatsoever.
Its just some stuff about the giveaway for Volcanion.
Wow, they really weren't prepared to announce Sun and Moon when they did.
I saw some "leaked" stuff going around on Tumblr, but I don't want to post it here since I'm not a gullible idiot enough to see fake magazine scans when I know they are fake.

well that's disappointing though not unexpected. It seemed like it's announcement was early. imo they should have waited til E3 maybe.
But pokemon company never actually follows E3 schedules… ever... @_@

1)It was the freaking 20th anniversary, they HAD to announce it then.
2)If the game is coming out this year, they need to start promoting and hyping it now.
Given how unprepared they seem to be on this one, I'd guess it'll be closer to a late December release than an October/November… but they've always in the past started advertising the next games in spring, usually starting in February.
I could have accepted "They don't want to reveal things now, they want to do that in Corocoro" but... they're still hyping up last gen instead. I'm reeeally starting to think they'd intended to do a Zygarde midquel to fill out this year and higher ups just declared "new game!" a few weeks ago.
rip Pokemon Z and possibly D/P/Pt remakes, you will be missed on my vacation to Poke Singapore.
