Hence why I said the line was translated wrong. It implied that UA notified All Might and that they found some other potential successor.
Not really. It said that if Yuuei would somehow finds a succesor they would notify him.

The "had" in that sentence makes it sound like they did at some point.

The had is implying All Might told the school to tell him about potential successors a while ago
I'm assuming strength building lets you build up strength throughout your own life. You'll never lose strength by becoming lazy or whatever, you'll retain it forever (but limited by your body capicity).
And remember humans in MHA are not real humans, but shounen humans. Just like how Usopp can be battered into walls but still be strong enough to withstand the recoil of his weapons, Deku can withstand explosions and punch with broken fists, and Mineta can survive being smacked by a giant metal robot, shounen humans are more hardy and resistant to injury than real humans. It's true of any battle fiction, manga or not, but it's a tradition in shounen.
Here's Volume 5 Extra Pages. (HQ), a few guys requested it earlier in the thread and I finally got around to it.
Full Album Glib/FA, if you end up using these it'd be nice if you guys mentioned it on credit page. Last time I posted the Jump Next Summer spread you guys didn't mention any source :ninja:
Damnit Stain. How the hell do you ride that motorcycle?

Thankyou! I really want to know more about Rikidou and Kouji, i hope they get a bit more scene time in the upcoming chapters!
Also how are the school terms organised in Japan and when do students move up a year? It feels like the students have only been at UA for 4-5 weeks and already the summer break is approaching!

Very well. Should we credit you as YonkouProductions?

School year begin in April in Japan iirc.
Yup. Starts in April, ends in March, usually. So "spring break" is the break between school years, and "summer break" (a month long, in July/August) is just a break between semesters. School clubs continue during the summer break (with practices/meets several days per week), though, so from what I've seen, most kids don't go on big family vacations or anything like that.
So 3ish months have passed since Izuku's school year began.
If this pace were to stay exactly the same…we're looking at ~200 chapters per school year, 600 for all of high school, and then to infinity and beyond with My Hero Shippuden.

Thanks for the clarification, in the UK the year usually starts in September and ends in July! I was worried we might not get to see some more Hero Lessons before the year ended! Here's to 140 more chapters (and your continued employment CCC!)!

He's got a birdbrain
I love the character-centric chapters and I really hope half the battles aren't skipped this time around. Todoroki and Momo as a team seems really cool. I finally want to see more of Yaoyorozu's abilities.
Present Mic, what's with that look?
A somewhat dumb question, but have we ever seen an Upper Classman at Yuuei?
Fun chapter. I'm definitely looking forward to more Bakugou and I've been wanting more Yaoyorozu for a while. Loved the progressive "oh shit" looks on the class.
Momo just want to be loved guys.
Wow, that ending was….SHOCKING, Deku and Bakugou vs AlMight.
Momo/Shouto combo could be deadly, can Momo create Fire and Ice?
interesting test@LordPerucho:

doubt it..fire it's just energy, and ice is frozen water..she might be able to create water, but she has no way to freeze it
I wonder if Kendou and Iida went to the same middle school. They seem to know each other.

Not in any meaningful context.

She can probably create ice with the right conditions, but wouldn't be able to shoot it out with any kind of velocity like Todoroki can. For fire she'd have to make a flamethrower or something else since fire has no molecular compound. If she made a substance that was just about to have a reaction and combust, she'd just burn herself.
Looking forward to Shouji (Tentacles).
I like that we're getting back to schools and tests, bringing back down a notch in terms of plot development and world building and instead raising the character development and personal inner strifes that the students have. Lovely set up chapter.
Can I expect they to show what all of 20 of they are capable of?
Can I expect they to show what all of 20 of they are capable of?
doubt it..at least looking at how he didn't show all the fights in the previous tournament
Can I expect they to show what all of 20 of they are capable of?
Almost certainly not. The two pairs stated in the chapter will obviously receive the most focus, but I think we have a decent chance of seeing glimpses Uraraka, Iida, and the teams of one or two other random students.
I'm loving the shit out of Hero Academia lately, and this chapter was no exception to the rule.
I'm with Kizuchan though, in that I hope this time around the battles outside of Deku's/Todoroki'a/Iida's aren't skipped. It's probably gonna happen, and Deku + Bakugou vs. All Might is hype enough, but I really wanna see everyone get a shot. And I wanna see hamster principal fighting.
Glad they're bringing the setting back to school instead of ending up on that cursed stairwell of infinitely ramping up the edgy/serious/dark/bad/power etc. I like how we're switching between different "problems" in the story - right now it's Deku's rivalry with Bakugo and the Villain Alliance - so when one storyline starts to get drawn out, we take a break and focus on another one.
Deku and Bakugou. What a surprise…
I mean, it is what makes more sense, obviously the teachers want them to leave any animosity behind and having them work together is a way to force it to happen, but still... a wasted chance to have Midoriya paired up with one of the obscure classmates.
Midoriya and Tsuyu should team up more.
I'm mostly just surprised Bakugou was 3/20…
I was more surprised Falco was so low.

It would be weird for Midoriya to pair up with someone obscure against All Might. It had to be someone as equally invested into surpassing him. Bakugou has his reasons to fight All Might as well.
So it was either Bakugou or Todoroki, but the latter had already teamed up with him last arc, so…
I think they're paired up by class rank right?
1-2, 3-4, etc.

In the written test? Todoroki was 5th. Iida was 2nd.

As in that high? He's definitely a smart kid since Yueii has a written qualifier before even the robot practical and Bakugou was very proud when he thought he was the only one to get in.
He's smart and observant, it's just buried beneath a whole lot of rage.

Yeah. He kinda has been coming off as a dumbass. But I suppose most of that is his frothy unreasonable anger when Deku is involved. He hasn't really displayed too much ingenuity since he kinda comes off like he feels he doesn't have to.
Yeah, he had the bomb simulation where he was actively dumber by focusing on Deku, but his performance in the Yueii Games, especially against Uraraka, revealed his intelligence was usually underrated by a lot of people. He'll definitely need to fight smart against All Might.
I'm really hoping that Bakugou doesn't immediately refuse to work with Deku and try to do it all on his own, since that trope has been done to death. They're clearly not going to jel right away, but I think Bakugou should recognize the need for teamwork against someone like All Might. MHA has been good enough that I have faith the upcoming chapters will be fresh.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Side note: did Bakugou ever decide on his hero name?
Speaking of Bakugou, Best Jeanist didn't do a good job at reforming him didn't he?
Side note: did Bakugou ever decide on his hero name?
Probably, but it was never revealed to readers.
Bakugou has always been very observant and able to discern people's weaknesses extremely quickly - in pretty much every fight we've ever seen him in with the only possible exception being that exercise versus Deku where he underestimated him. Blackmist/Kurogiri he went for the plates to shut him down, he figured out how to counter Tokoyami 's quirk, immediately went for Todoroki's fire-side knowing that he's hesitant to use it, etc. He's been nothing but heads up so I'm kind of surprised how many people had written him off as an idiot - I guess from his first fight with Deku, or maybe the typical "stupid bully" trope?
Anyway… given Bakugou's history of being able to quickly discern weakness, I have a feeling that he's gonna figure out that something is off with All Might during their fight.
I imagine bakugou studying like he washes his teeth
Any guess about the other teams?
One team I could see is Iida and Ochako, IIRC they did teamwork when they were battling villains.
Baron von Explodokills is a top tier name.
I don't care what that BDSM lady says.
Blasty McSplode is still my favorite.

That seems like an obvious pairing, but I think the 2 and 13 ranks are too far apart to get paired, unless the pairings are based on teacher strength and everyone else's combat strength is well below All Might's and Eraserhead's.
Iida and Froppy would make the most sense by rankings but I don't think their powers compliment each other that well.
Who wanna bet its not gonna end being Kacchan?
Momo and Shouto( 1 and 5)
Bakugou and Deku (3 and 4)
Kanmari and Ashido as a team would be dangerous, electricity+acid combo.
Why do I have the feeling Mineta will get Midnight so we get another perv joke..

Well, given the 2 pairings thus far I'm inclined to think it's a combination of the two, but it does seem like the matchups are somewhat playing to the students' weaknesses. Bakugou and Deku are both close-mid range brawlers going against another much stronger one - if they were going against some long range quirk user they would likely have a pretty big advantage double teaming them. Likewise, Momo and Todoroki have both been shown to be very very quirk reliant as evidenced by Momo getting shut out in the tournament and Stain's comment towards Todoroki, so going up against Eraserhead should be interesting as we see how they have to adapt.
