That's Matsumoto. Kensei and Rose probably weren't revived because they were zombifies after having already died. Hitsu and Matsu weren't dead before Giselle used her ability on them.
16 minutes late, no less.

Too many captains, too little enemies, Kubo should have left them in soul society.
Kubo alreasy showed what their Bankai can do so no reason to give they more screentime.
But what about Izuru Kira and the V-Shapped Guitar?
That applies doubly to Hitsu and Matsu, though.
And while Rose did explain the full extent of his Bankai, Kensei's still had a lot to offer. Not to mention those punks fought without their friggin masks.
Some genuine emotional reactions from Mayuri in regards to surpassing Urahara.
I like it.
Some good moments, Ikkaku and Yumichika thanking Mayuri (who is the opposite of their own captain) for saving Kenpachi, and Mayuri's pride at surpassing Urahara…...oh look Hitsugaya and Matsumoto are back. Like we thought the former was really gone.
Team SS continues their march (this city is so damn empty and there's too many of them, wth). Shunsui gets sniped but lolno, he pulls an attack from behind in the most jovial fashion I've seen. At least Shunsui is still cool.
....but seriously, where's Aizen?
In the throne.
Damnit, unless the rest of exodia show up, this is going to be extremely lame and longs 1v1. Pernida was the better half of a volume. And he was the first one down.
These past few chapters have been good. . .too bad I need to paraphrase Daz: A shame that, one big part of enjoying these past few chapters includes completely forgetting the fact that Mayuri is a genocidal sob who puts bombs in his underlings for his own amusement and uses his own daughter to conduct experiments.
Now Soul Mengele is good and all, and this chapter was indeed cool, but so much reverence (with people bowing down and all), introspection, heroics. . .for Soul Mengele is weird as fuck.
But on their own, yeah, good chapters overall.
Bach better resurrect some ancient Quincy, cause they are in serious defficit.
And maybe couple of shitty ones, so that Chad can fight as well.

Matsumoto had a broken neck IIRC, Cang Du said she killed her..
They have to be alive or its another case of Plot Kai..
So wait, Mayuri's science shortened Histugaya's and Matsumoto's lifespan? BUT THEY'RE GHOSTS, KUBO!!!!1!111!!!
Also ha, Mayuri and his warning that Hitsu and Matsu will lose years off their lives.
Yamamoto, Unohana, Shunsui, Ukitake, Yoruichi, Tessai, Urahara, etc. show us Shinigami live for a _very l_ong time. What's a decade or two?

Kensei and Roses deaths were confirmed not only by Gremmy, but by Isane who is the 4th Division lieutenant. They're deader than doornails.
Shinigamis celebrates Thanksgiving?
Oh boy Hitsugaya and tits got subbed in. Fantastic.
Mayuri has been the real MVP of this arc and series, keep him on the field coach

Shame, I wanted my Kensei-Mashiro fist battle tag team. :(
Rose is….eh. I forget, is Kira dead?

Forgotten.
Last we heard his reiatsu vanished. Not a single mention after that.
Guys we know why Shitsugaya and Tits Magee have been revived. It's because the idiot masses love terrible characters. Why do you think Ulquiorra had so much time in the spotlight?
Also, I love how the Quincy sniper had picked off a bunch of shinigami.

Kira is dead according to the novel. He was made into a Mayuri zombie and fought Shaz Domino, who was revealed to be one of Gremmy's mind constructs.

Yeah, I'm getting kind of tired of that "sacrifice years of your life" trope. Because, ultimately, it doesn't really mean anything and is usually quickly forgotten.
And yes, even more so with the Shinigami who live for centuries
Kira is dead according to the novel. He was made into a Mayuri zombie and fought Shaz Domino, who was revealed to be one of Gremmy's mind constructs.
Well, makes sense as much as anything else.
Is there a translation of the novel anywhere? I'm in a mood for some more mental pain today.

RIP Kira then.
Btw, the novel is called 13 Blades, is not written by Kubo (although he provided some illustrations) and it's canonicity is questionable. But who the hell cares at this point.

Given that kubo allowed the fan novel about kenpachi be canon, it doesn't fucking matter. How was it btw?
I remember there was a novel that says Szayel was the Primera Espada at some point but dropped to number 8 and Kenpachi's ability was equalize his power to his opponent when his foe was stronger than him.

Ingenious.
You know, now I'm half certain that the Mayuri we saw in the Soul Society arc was a Gremmy mind construct. Classic Kubo, a level -67b secret no doubt.

I'll tell you when I get to read it. There's a detailed summary with sketches, a link is posted on Reddit. But I had a long day at work and it's 11 PM here. Maybe when I'm more bored and less tired.

So Shaz was actually the V for Viability, but then Yhwach gave him the Greek letter Σ (!), for Stigma (?).
Oh God, we might actually get the Greek alphabet in there too.
Also:
Shaz was able to transform himself into an existence with a physical body. He can absorb Reishi from his surroundings and repair his own body. In other words, he has regeneration powers that surpass those of a Vollständig or Hollow.
Whenever Shaz lost parts of his body during fights, parts created by Gremmy’s imagination would regenerate as parts created by Reishi. In the end, all imagined parts were replaced by physical body, allowing him to escape Gremmy’s control. Gremmy didn’t care and left things up to Yhwach.
I like how even Gremmy gets tired of his own bullshit ability.
Obviously Kubo had to bring back some fan-favourite characters( Shitsugaya and Tits). This chapter was awful (minus the Mayuri moments/Shunsui vs Barro).
What a shame.

That was the whole chapter…
Shunsui was awesome! He like, appeared behind the enemy when he was supposed to be killed! That's amazing, I've never seen that in Bleach before!
Wait, before I forget, can anyone tell me what was up with that completely black panel on page 11? At first I thought it was something inserted by Mangapanda, but MS has it too. Is it supposed to be Sniper Quincys ridiculous Syringe Gun?

No idea. What's funny is I didn't even take notice of that before. It's like my brain got used to the wasted panels and considers them perfectly normal now.

Classic Kubo.

If I was insane, I'd go back and count every time Kubo pulled the "attack from behind" card. I can't remember who (me? Daz? Gilb?) had a collection of some panels on Applied Logic, but it certainly wasn't all of them.
Classic Kubo.
To be fair, that would be "classic Narita". He wrote the novel, not Kubo. He also wrote the Spirits are Forever With You (but that one is not seen as canon).
Well neither is this one. Not officially anyway. Sure, Kubo drew some sketches for the novel, but as far as I saw, he never said anything like:"Yeah, that's totally how it happened, he read my mind."
To leave one of his long running characters be resolved in a story by a third party, after treating him like crap…
At least Kira got into a novel. Unlike vice-captain Iba and his new dog.

Yeah, we don't have anything official saying it is canon, however (1) in the same fanbook we have a special chapter made by Kubo where we can see Mayuri working on Kira's body and (2) in the last colorspread Kubo drew all the Sternritter, the only ones missing were Guenael (the one created by Gremmy's imagination) and Shaz (…).
So while there is nothing saying it is canon, Kubo obviously is going along with it. There was also another mini novel published in a fan/databook that revealed that Harribel and her Fracción had survived and, as we saw later, it turned out to be true. So I guess we can safely say that the novels and chapters published in the databooks are canon.
EDIT: The Don Kanonji/Zaraki/Szayelaporro novel is a different thing, though. It was published on its own and not a single aspect of it appeared later in the manga. The only thing Kubo said was that when he was reading it he was surprised to find out Narita found out what he had planned for Zaraki (the thing about his insane power being in shackles).

God that kind of shit bothers me to no end. It just shows how lazy Kubo really is. "Hey I can't think of anything else, let's just let these fanfics be canon".
Also, how fucking powerful is gremmy to be able to create living, thinking people out of thin air? Seriously, why was he not part of the Quincy SS? Fuck, why was he not Bach's third in command at least? Something for fucks sake.
Is he really such a bad character
He's dull and all, but I don't remember him being outstandingly annoying or anything
Granted, I barely remember anything from this series

Because he was too unstable, probably. Really, that's a no-brainer. :ninja:

Well being in the business of reaping souls and dealing death would normally require one to be apathetic….Kubo's writing irony be damned.
Sometimes I get annoyed at how Kubo's characters behave completely the same no matter what the circumstance. But then I move on with my life because it isn't worth it.

His presence often overshadows other supporting characters in whatever scene he's in (probably more so in the anime, which I didn't watch) by doing something "cool" or simply using his fan-favorite flashy bankai.
Also, I remember some people saying that Hitsugaya is Kubo's "insurance" for when Bleach's rating is down.
Never understood why a character so bland is so popular. He did show some promise in SS arc, but that went nowhere.

Yeah, but knowing how bleach works Shitsu will be jobbed SO hard. Also, that's what I was saying before. Kubo will bring these characters in because he knows fans will cream their pants for them. "Who needs character development when I can sell my Bishonen-Emo-Piece-of-Shit? My loyal sheep will just eat it up".
Hitsugaya had his own movie as well.
Hitsugaya has had more action this arc than the main character.
