She has a similar type of voice to Robin, but I wouldn't say she sounds the same. Though it would be nice to hear scenes where she is speaking more naturally and not just yelling orders.
Marigold and Sandersonia are also pretty good.
One of the snake sisters is Julie Mayfield using her Dr. Kureha voice. lol
I thought that Mari sounded kind of like her…

yea. It is linking me to the episodes, but the videos themselves don't actually exist. the same problem happened when the voyage 3 trailer came it. it took about an hour before I was actually able to watch the trailer.

Wow, I'm really loving all of the voices now that we've gotten to hear them some more. Hawkins is still the MVP. Not gonna lie though, Rayleigh's took some time to grow on me, but I'm pretty happy with it.
I'm about the watch the separation episode. Not sure if I'm ready to hear Colleen's take on Luffy's breakdown. If it's even half as phenomenal as Stephanie Young's reading of "I wanna live" then I'm going to be a blubbering mess.

Have only watched the first two episodes. Great to see the three captain team up. Really can't wait for the last few episodes in this arc.
Will probably get in more trouble for being disappointed with Joel again, but did anyone else notice that the voice actor / ADR director didn't really match Rayleigh's flaps very well for the first episode on the set?
And to whoever said that some episodes didn't match the lips well on the last set, I had that problem for a few episodes towards the end, too. But it was only sometimes, if I remember correctly. Some weird glitch/mistake by the engineer, probably.
So weird to me that I'm the only one that hears that Hancock and Robin's voices are nearly the same. Guess I need to get my ears checked since I'm out voted here. But my girlfriend says it sounds the same to her, too (though I didn't show her the animation as she listened because spoilers).

I was amazed to hear the word "smile." I never knew that was foreshadowed this far back. And totally forgot that DoFlamingo was in this arc. He sounded a little different than he did the last time I hear him, but I like the slight change.

I love his voice, was just worried that he wasn't elongating some syllables like he was supposed to. You're saying he does it? Hallelujah. Perfect casting then.

I'm sorry to say that the elongated syllables just didn't really exist, except subtly. It looks as if it just isn't easily doable with the lip flaps. The hellos ARE quite notably elongated, though, and done quite hilariously. Especially with Hawkins, which I don't think would have been nearly as funny if not for the previous hellos into the snail. You'll see what I mean when you watch them.
And you aren't alone with the whole Hancock/Robin similarity. She sounds like a more emotional Robin to me. Of course, even in reality people can sound similar like that but I guess it's more noticeable here.
Probably my biggest issue with these episodes is the writing. There were a couple instances that I saw where the line was changed from the subtitled version. Most notably at the beginning of 404 when in the subtitled version Nami says, "he's really going to die!" was changed to, "there's nothing we can do!" This just doesn't have the same impact. The meaning and intensity of the situation just isn't there with the second one. Especially with the visual of Nami putting her hand over her mouth. I can just see no real reason to have changed it.

I felt like I noticed Kizaru's speech quirk generally more in this boxset than Film Z. There were several instances with more drawn out lines and even the less drawn out lines seemed to have the end of lines trail off more towards the end (though more subtly than the original). At least here I got the impression that there was an understanding of the way Kizaru was supposed to speak, even if it wasn't quite at the level of the original.
And really, its not just lip sync that's the problem when dubbing lines; translated dialogue, the way said dialogue is portrayed in the scripts, and the overall timing of the scene (not just the timing of the lip movements) can also play a role in altering a performance.
I thought about that and when the actual DVDs come in and I can switch between the Japanese and English audio with the press of a button, I'm going to take a look and see what's going on with that.
That can be done with the online episodes too. Just push the button on the bottom left side of the video that says "DUB" and it will play at the last spot you were at in the episode, just with the subbed version instead.

This change didn't bother me all that much, outside of the "no real reason" factor. After all, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. And ultimately, the underlying meaning is unchanged. But the "someone/Luffy help me" and the "he's really going to die/there's nothing we can do" is a significant enough change to the underlying meanings of the lines, in my opinion. And that's where I really have the objections.

Hmm i actually can see your gripes with the line change although i think for me because the performances in the episode were so great it didnt effect how i viewed the performance that much.

He uses the Japanese pronunciation, where Shakky pronounced it like you would hear the word in English. Still don't like how they're pronouncing Trafalgar, though, nor do I like that they got rid of Law's speech quirk.
I like Rayleigh's voice better in these episodes than in that brief line from the earlier set, and him talking about Roger got to me a lot more than when I saw that scene in Japanese. I don't know that I like Sentomaru's voice, though.

You mean the way he says “–ya” after a character's name? It's not really a speech quirk (or at least not in the same way as something like Hachi's "nyus" or Fukuro's "chapapas").
From the explanations I’ve seen (mainly the one in the manga SBS) it’s a suffix in the Japanese language that’s been used to identify people of certain trades or used for stage names. It certainly is a different way of addressing someone (instead of using standard honorifics), but it’s not really a special speech quirk specific to Law (well, I guess within the context of this series it is specific to him). Removing that is not too different from removing things like “–go” from the end of ship names or removing honorifics like “-chan” or “-san”; sure English equivalents could be used, but it’s not really something applicable to the English language.

I had a strong feeling Mike would be back for Impel Down and Marineford. Not only because he's Buggy but because there are so many characters and story elements returning tied to the material he worked on earlier, and he probably wanted to handle the final seasons leading to the timeskip.
I do wonder why he left in the first place. Maybe he had his hands full with Attack on Titan and other shows?

Whoa, as nice as it is that Mike is getting back into the director's chair (something I've wanted to see for a while), let's not get ahead of ourselves as for when, exactly, he's taking the reigns.
Time for a lesson in archaeological dating methods. This would be what's known as a terminus post quem. We can only know that as of the date of posting, today, August 21st, 2015, that Mike is directing. We don't know precisely what episode he is taking over at. Could be before, could be after. Marineford is a near certainty. (Hell, Funimation could easily, and likely does, have Marineford licensed. After all, they had Enies Lobby licensed at least a year before the first release.) Impel Down is less so. At this point, given that the release date for the set immediately preceding the first Impel Down episodes is due to be released in a mere two months time, they almost certainly have the earlier episodes already recorded.
Don't get me wrong, I could easily be wrong and Mike is indeed picking up as of Voyage Four. Certainly, I hope so. (And if he does, I really, really hope that in addition to viewing the japanese audio as seems to have become standard, that for returning characters, they review prior English recordings, too. As with Cobra in the Boss Luffy episodes during Enies Lobby, Igaram was much different during 406-407 than from his Alabasta days. So much so I had to check and see if it was the same person. Again, it comes back to consistency for me.)
Basically what I'm saying here is don't get hopes too high if it isn't the case that Mike is starting with the first Impel Down episode.

I actually thought Mr. 3 sounded kind of off during the Enies Lobby Boss Luffy episodes too (and I think there was another character too, but I can't remember right now).
Though, during Impel Down, there are several flashbacks to prior episodes (unlike the Boss Luffy episodes). While several lines might be altered, since the flashbacks were reanimated, they'd still probably have to revisit those episodes anyway so I'd assume it would be less of a problem during this arc.

Indeed. There is no difference in syllable count. So there is no real reason to change it for flap reasons. Same for the line I pointed out. Even worse there, actually, because there was no lip flaps to match; Nami had her mouth covered.

Yeah, so no blaming Joel for this one, but part of me does wonder if a really attentive director pays attention to the line differences at least during the very emotional scenes. All in all, not a huge deal– only one line of dialogue, but still annoying since it affects the emotional gravity of an important scene.
