@sabret00the:
i'm gonna add more to the whole anti-defeat-buster-call thing, its one thing to want the fear in which it enduces down to earth but don't you think completely destroying it and making into effectively a myth is a bit much?
What, you mean like how everything else that been called "invincible" and "deadly" has been beaten by the SHs up until this point. Hell, even if the Buster Call is destroyed, it's still am island destroying force, not a myth.
That's like saying the Shichibukai are a myth, if no for the fact that we have 6 of them left.
it's like, do we think that mihawk could be defeated by zoro yet? and we've yet to hear about any sort of sniper that takes aprt ships so why would Usopp on his go of his new weapon be able to do so?
No, Mihawk and the Buster Call are two different things. Mihawk is a character that appears invincible and will most likely fight Zoro at the end of the series.
The Buster Call, well…how will that develop or develop the crew? Are the SHs going to learn a bunch of ship-destroying attacks in the next arcs? Seems kind of lame.
Also, we only know that the slingshot is upgraded, how, we don't know. But the fact that it's "upgraded" will explain whatever it does later, like the Climatact.
I don't get why people act like the VA's are a different enttity to the buster call or why there's the assumption that saul is the basic requirements of a VA in the One Piece world, it's far safer to assume that than it is to assume anything else.
Huh? I don't get what you're saying here. So we should assume one thing and not the other? But it's all assumptions.
But, it's tough to assume that the VAs will be as strong as Saul when Saul is a giant. Of course they'll be strong is a different way, but we don't know how.
I feel people are reaching in despiration for the VA's to be weak, according to One Piece law they don't have to be logia's to fight Usopp's attacks. Franky barely flinched, Jyabura ran through his attacks and then you look at basic attacks, Sanji's kicks cannons for fun as Zoro slices them and Luffy bounces them, i'm betting Franky's star shield could do the job against cannon balls. these are all major attacks. Basically if anyone's strong on the ship then Usopp can't do it on his own and the emphasis is still to get everyone out safely.
Well, I apologize for saying that the VA need to be weak(er) earlier, but I think that the VAs can still be strong and still not be able to do anything against Usopps attacks. It all depends on what abilites Oda gives them.
Maybe all these VAs a superior hand-to-hand fighters with superstrength, maybe invincible to the current SHs. Well, how would that help them block long range attacks to the bottom of their ships? What, are they going to jump of the boat and take the hit? What then, what if Usopp aims for the top of the ship after that?
See, unless these VAs have very specific superpowers, they might not be able to do anything to defend their ships. Usopp doesn't need to shoot anywhere near the VAs to shoot those ships.
As for swimming, well what about those whirlpools we saw earlier? It seems weird that they were introduced. They could be prefect for stopping the VAs from swimming to shore. I see the plot elements for the Buster Call to be defeated.
As for that safety thing, well, if all the escape routes are destroyed then fighting it would lead to safety.
If Usopp has his moment to shine already, people wouldn't be so adamant to see the buster call defeated, so i just feel it's selfish to want that.
Yeah, pretty much, but selfish? Usopp needs something if he's going to be an equal member of the crew. No, not "beating stong guys" equal, but important to the crew equal.
I just don't think what he did in this chapter was enough, I mean without Franky there then Robin could have been shot. It's not "his shining moment" yet.
Onece again i state, as of right now, i feel everyone can save face by backing off and allowing the factions space, however to engage/destroy the buster call would lead to pride getting in the way and it wouldn't allow for the fluidity of the storyline. it'd litterally turn into a story about being on the run.
Would it? Maybe the story wouldn't go that way? The marines already chase them whenever they find them, who says that the marines will find them so easily?
