That kiss… D: Eugh.

Well, you can say that it was a perfect example of motherly love. Deep motherly love. :ninja:

Gyokuen gunning for Mother of the Year

This is one messed up fight. Gross. Disturbing.
! Can't wait to see it animated!

At least, You can't say she doesn't show her love.

lol im dying
I was enjoying those punches until she turned thing around and.. well yeah everyone gets it. creep city.
-
She's their mother, but at the same time, it's not Arba's actual body. Al-Thamen is basically using their rukh to incarnate themselves in Solomon's World, so she's kissing him but not really kissing him.
Also, passionate love and passionate hate are two sides of the same coin, so it would explain why Arba kissed Hakuryuu; it's all sexual gratification, similar to how Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter feels when he's fighting someone strong/Gon. She's also just fucking with him mentally.
-
it's all sexual gratification
That's even worse.
And yes, we know it's partly to mess with his head, but still. Ew.
-
Good old days when magicians weren't pussies. I wonder how well would Alibaba (or any top sword user) do against her with no metal or household vessel.
@Satsuki:That's even worse.
And yes, we know it's partly to mess with his head, but still. Ew.
Is it sure she was already using that body when Haku was conceived?

That part really just make it more creepy. A great indication is being compared to Hisoka strange tendencies.

Holy shit, young Sin's Baal djinn equip made me almost wet my pants. You know where to find it if you wanna join me in my rejoicing.

Well, the way I see it there are two possibilities:
1. She incarnated herself in this world and actually gave birth to Haku and his siblings.
2. She somehow took over the body of Haku's original mother, hence Haku's happy memories of her being so different. -

I'm for option 1. She's crazy and having kids was part of her role as wife of the Emperor, nothing more.
-
Judar is such an ass haha "Why didn't you say that you had this move at the very beginning? (we could have avoided that freaking spider borg and everything, dattebayo?)" - "Because it would be boring." I laughed. Unfortunately Arba is just as skilled with a sword, I almost got AoT Levi vibes from all her somersaulting and wall running. And I also remember her absolutely massacring everyone from David's inner circle with a sword back in Alma Torran, so I'm sure this fight will be just as good. I mean, a left & right general should have some skills as well, right?

I don't think it's possible to hijack another person's body/rukh otherwise they could've easily become king candidates/magi themselves instead of guiding humans. Arba chose to be reborn into Solomon's world, but she has complete control over her body like the magicians did in the past, which would explain why she hasn't seemed to age at all since Hakuryuu's flashbacks. Being born into Solomon's world and then destroying it would be the ultimate act of retaliation for Al-Thamen since they would be perversing the world from inside out.

Especially since they don't have vessels.

Hijacking those protected by the djinns may be impossible. And if they where to enter a dungeon themselves they would be deny.

The djinns have kicked Al-Thamen out of dungeons, yes, but they have also worked for Al-Thamen through their king candidates; the Partevia and Kou Empire djinns are aiding king vessels willingly, despite the fact they are working for/along side Al-Thamen. I don't see any difference between this and hijacking someone else's body and conquering a dungeon since the djinn wouldn't have been able to figure it out either way.
To be honest, the world at large is incredibly lucky no Al-Thamen affiliated vessel conquered Belial before Hakuryuu. They would be able to harvest so much black rukh with Belial's OP powers.

They trust their king to take the right path. The djinn clearly decide who they give their power, they wouldn't give it with someone with black rukh or those who betrayed Solomon. Of course end up being wrong like any humanlike thinking. They can't know what they will do with the power once out of the dungeon.

Phenex is using her power to protect Gyokuen/Arba. The djinn decide who to make their king, but they've failed in protecting the world from unjust kings/kings allied with Al-Thamen.
Also, given Solomon is their one true king, and Embryo Aladdin is the one who kept the remnants of Alma Torran together, they really should've retaliated when Kougyoku and Kouen attacked/threatened Aladdin.
The djinn are powerful, but aftera thousand years, they've become quite stupid as well.

They decide before they leave the dungeon, after that they become mostly a tool.

They chose their king in the dungeon. They have no say in what's happening afterwards.
Even right now the only king candidate that has fallen is Haku. Which was way after Zagan and he had to forced himself into the second one. All the djinn users are loyal to Kouen not Gyokuen and Kouen doesn't have the same goal as Al-tharmen nor is he working for them.

They can choose not to grant the king vessel any of their power. I don't see anywhere where it's explicitly states that a djinn must obey their candidate. And given the whole candidate system was created in order to ensure the on-going existence of the people of Alma Torran, it's very alarming that they would continually grant power to those that would misuse it/destroy the world.
Hakuryuu may be fallen, but at the end of the day, his enemy is still Al-Thamen. This works out in the favour of the world at large, given Al-Thamen wants to destroy all existence. While it's true Belial didn't want to choose Hakuryuu, at least Hakuryuu is fighting Belial's enemy; the enemy of my enemy is my friend, so to speak.
Kouen is attempting to use Al-Thamen to get what he wants. However, he fails to grasp their immense strength. Kouen, along with his siblings+ Hakuei and the Kou Empire Army, are nowhere near strong enough to control Al-Thamen, let alone beat them. It took 72 djinn to beat the Il Illah in Alma Torran, and the medium only failed in Magnostadt because Mogamett wasn't entirely fallen to the point he wasn't able to ignore his wrongdoings. However, if Al-Thamen was able to get a medium like Wahid, then the world is pretty much 100% screwed. Kouen is a mosquito compared to Al-Thamen.
-
AoS is really awesome. It seems like Sinbad is gonna take Mistoras, so how he'll end up with Spartos is gonna be interesting. And at last, the first djinn-user fight in the story.

They choose. Belial refused Haku for exampe.
Muu being able to attack without problem should made clear they can't do anything after the dungeons.

They all want to. Kouen simply want to do it latter.

They have the same path so they are helping each other. Whoever get there first win(either achieving their goal or becoming strong enough to be independent).
Ill-illah isn't part of Al tharmen he is there goal. If they do have a direct clash it wouldn't even him.
I think Haku is demonstrating it isn't simply about strength but also how you use your weapons. Plus they will once again be the common enemy once world domination is achieved.

! did hakuryu just bite gyoken's arm off???

249 Translation: http://bubblesymphony.tumblr.com/post/104145090578/magi-249-translations
! - The generals help Hakuryuu
- Hakuryuu says he's not following Hakutoku's will, and the Generals say he will help them nonetheless since he is fighting the Witch
- The 3 overpower Gyokuen, then she goes berserk and defeats the Generals
- Judar peaces out since he's useless without magic
- Gyokuen calls all the humans in Solomon's world "trash"
- Hakuryuu remember's his brother's words to avenge them and over powers Gyokuen
- Gyokuen stabs Hakuryuu
- Hakuryuu bites her neck and rips her veins/flesh off and collapses
- Gyokuen is bleeding profusely and barely able to stand
-
! holly sh** !!! that is a brutal brutal fight. And haku is quite hardcore!

The art's really terrible this chapter. The end there, tho. [insert Tokyo Ghoul/Attack On Titan reference]

Gyouken's face in the first page looks like she's enjoying herself in the battle.
Too bad it doesn't last.

Fantastic gif!
Chapter was alright. Judar bailing out as he is useless was the best part for me!
-
why is the chapter ending trying to cliffhanger us about something we already know how it will end?
-
Once again Judar is the man haha "I'm useless, so I will be taking my leave now. Call me when you're done." That's what I call being pragmatic. I mean, he just left his king candidate in the middle of his hardest battle yet. And the gore was real, Gyouken should be finished with that wound. Next chapter she will probably blabber about "god" for a while before finally bleeding out, but don't quote me on that. I'm just a little sad the generals only lasted for a couple of panels, I had hoped for more action from them.
-
Man this fight is so great, mainly because there's no Djinn action with their extreme magic bullshit. Hakuryuu channeling his inner Rick Grimes.
-
That one doublespread showing huge black naked Arba was pretty cool, but the remaining art looked like Looney Tunes. I dunno what's happened to Ohtaka in that regard.
-
Funny how the best swordsman lost to Haku with just one hand. He even outperformed her in the hardcore section.

That part was a little hard to swallow.
Would have been better if two generals at least gave her a wound or two before Hakuryuu got his turn.
Btw, what's up with Haku's prosthetic arm? I thought he can only use it because of Zagan.
-

I get she was just another magician in the end.
I kinda laugh at how they only appreared to get manhandled and begged Haku to do something.

I'm not sure either. I think his prosthetic arm is clinged which gives the impression he is actually using it when he is not.

It looks as if Ohtaka couldn't decide whether to make the arm active or not. One chapter it's just hanging there while Haku is trying to fight with one arm, and the next he's gripping the sword with both hands.
-

She wasn't using a sword while fighting him,her sword broke earlier this chapter.
-
Yeah, that makes it ok.
-
This is a very emotionally fueled fight - Gyouken is a master sword fighter and at the very least very proficient with Spears/Bisentos, but the moment where Haku overpowered her and cut her Bisento in half was when his resolve was at his strongest.
Even Gyouken was surprised that she was overpowered (reaction on page 13), followed next page with a frame of haku's family and the promise to his brothers.
Arguably the fight could've been longer, but I don't really mind. Sword fights are usually best short and sweet, or long and theatrical
Edit: I mean, the chapters named Hakuryuu's Resolve, lol -
That would have been fine if Arba wasn't introduced as someone who had a strong resolve herself. Let's not forget all she's done in her life up to this point.
-
I really don't like this fight. Gyokuen feels wasted as a villain. Taken care off in a five chapter fight against Hakuryuu (barely any set up to the fight) instead of a long and arduous struggle on a global scale. Before people go to the other extreme and say I want a two hundred chapter slog fest, I mean there should be more pathos and substance to this character (and no, the flashback did little to add to that other than one minute she's sane and next minute she's obsessed with the great one), like more of a struggle, more initiative to this character then just being taken out. Yeah, it's not over yet but it doesn't look like she'll be saved by a last minute twist. It's a shame because her antics have been fun, laughing with tears in her eyes while she slices her enemies, some of those creepy faces (though not all of them worked for me, some of them were kind of excessively goofy), all from a female villain, which is very refreshing.

Oh and let's not even get into the stupid contrivances of this fight.
Hey, two generals with zero development are suddenly getting shorhorned into the fight like they matter.
Hey, random anti-magic barrier that Judar didn't use immediately...because it would be boring...
Blegh.

She shouldn't lose to Haku with a bisento either.

Well, they author had to find a way to make them side with Haku.
Hey, random anti-magic barrier that Judar didn't use immediately…because it would be boring...
Isn't that classic shonen?
Judar certainly didn't want to use a power that would render him powerless. Especially since he also want his vengeance and got the huge energy and knowledge from Ill-illah and Magomett.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

I really think that impression his holding the sword with both hands comes from his fake arm being a closed fist.
