Plus, GL is the only series in the New 52 that didn't reboot AT ALL. It picks up right where the War of the Green Lanterns ends, so when I say I'm getting caught up, I mean COMPLETELY. I've been trying to get into DC lately, and I was wondering what a good place to start would be. I've played Injustice Gods Among Us to get a rough handle on the major characters, and I've gotten a few graphic novels from the New 52 (the first volumes of Shazam and Justice League, as well as the first two volumes of the Flash) as well as "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?"
I'm mainly looking for characters outside of Superman and Batman, since I'm already familiar with them, but then again, if there's any stand-out stories featuring them, feel free to bring them up.

That shit is so OP, Shang Chi is already one of the best martial artists in the Marvel Universe, but now he can make clones of himself. It's kind of creepy how the clones are made of dead bodies though. With that said, Superior Foes ended well, but I'm still kind of sad to see such a good series go.

I thought people loved Snyder's run on Batman. If this is about the fact it is co-written by Miller, he'll probably be dead before he finishes the book.

Year One and the Dark Knight Returns are in the top five of Best Batman stories ever (Both were written by Miller). Miller was a great writer until he swallowed a hatchling of Dick Cheney (Citation needed) and turned to…well, Nowadays Miller.

80's Miller is influential and changed the industry. 90's Miller is liked for a few things.
He's gone a bit crazy and terrible in the 20 years since. (well, even more so.)

Frank Miller was an amazing writer at one point and brought the world some seminal comic book classics like The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, 300, Sin City et. al.
After 9/11 However, Frank Miller's worldview changed radically, and he's become an incredibly terrible writer as of late.
.Plus, he tends to repeat himself. Repeatedly. Repetitious. Repeatedly. Repetitious. He repeats himself. This happens A LOT and it's annoying. Count how many times Vicky Vale says "I'm on a date with Bruce Wayne!" in the first issue of ASBAR for example, or how many times Dick Grayson, Age 12, says "They're always there for me… they always catch me". Repetition can be a good storytelling technique if used right, but Frank never does.
He also wrote this incredibly racist abomination of a story called "Holy Terror" which was intended to be a Batman and Catwoman story, but someone at DC finally came to their senses and pulled the plug, so he very lightly changed the characters (Took off the Bat Emblem and ears from Batman's suit, called him "The Fixer" for example) and released it as an original story with another company. Wow is it the single most racist and outright horrible piece of filth ever published as a comic book.
"So" you might be thinking, "He did bad in all of those areas, but this is a sequel to one of his GOOD works! Having the original to go off and use as a tonal template, couldn't he make something good out of this?"
I'd respond that yes, that would potentially be possible…. if he hadn't already done one sequel to TDKR already and proven that no,
.I don't recommend reading any of these, as I don't want you to lose any braincells, but I've linked above to Linkara reviewing each of these things to prove just how horrible they are. He goes over all of the major problems with them and I'd say my opinion matches his on this one 100%

Magneto was confirmed to be their dad in the early '80s. Since it's technically a retcon, I'm sure that's how Marvel spokespeople and their stans will swing this. "Well, when you retcon a retcon, you're just setting things right." It's also how they justified undoing the Spider-Marriage (except replace retcon with editorial mandate).

The funny thing is that Wanda should've turned into a GOOD person after all the selfish, offensive crap she's pulled in the last couple years (and that's not even counting decimating the mutants (which is now an even bigger hate crime considering these retcons)), but the writer is such a sheltered misguided white male that he doesn't understand how offensive he's writing her. He even singles her out in his interviews as one of the most heroic and kindest characters in his books.

Wow, way to oversimplify and overstate. First off, it's not just everyone good is evil and everyone good is evil. Characters such as Hobgoblin have had almost no change at all. Hobby has decided to profit now by selling old hero identities and costumes instead of that of villains he's still the same person otherwise. Then there's Carnage, he wants to be good, but his homicidal tendencies are still there and he needs someone to show him how to be good. This is without going into people like Deadpool and Kluh. Second off, Decimation was retconned into not being Wanda's fault it was Doom's which you know about because it was referenced in AXIS #7 and previous Axis issues. Has Wanda still been acting as a cunt following Decimation? Yes. Did Remender make her and Havok his mouthpieces in Uncanny Avengers? Yes. Though saying she's a bad person is completely false. The "No more mutants" thing only happened under Bendis because he doesn't like Scarlet Witch. She was a respected Avenger long before he wrote her, so she was already a hero before that. Also, fans already despise her due to Decimation and she was missing in comics for around 5 years. I don't mean to sound patronizing when I say this, but are you even following Axis?

Yes, editorial is still not that fond of her. At a recent convention, one of the fans asked if Wanda would get a push. The editor replied that she still wasn't over the whole "No more mutants" thing. Though she's hardly irredeemable considering this event in oversimplified terms "Makes the good guys bad."
