And how! Seeing Pokemon with rare moves, the thrill of sneaking up on one, treating each route like a checklist…...definitely one of the best features in the game.

Beat Wattson last night, then doubled back to Granite Cave to catch my Aron…and then spent entirely too much time using the DexNav to catch another one. I saw one with Head Smash + Rock Head but wasn't able to get to it in time before it ran away... Got one with Dragon Rush and a maxed IV stat in the end at least. Also discovered that you can get an Abra with Ice Punch, of all things, too.

How do you get further in Granite Cave? I remember you could just go through the dark in the original, but I got Flash and a bunch of hikers are blocking the down entrance.

You have to beat Brawly first. Even then, there's only one room beyond. You need the Mach Bike to access the rest of the cave now.

Solves some massive sequence breaking in the original because you could put off Brawly until you have to fight Norman.
Jesus the trainers in Norman's gym can take a fucking beating.

To those that have the game did they at least improve the pokemon that the evils teams use instead of only using pochyenas and zubats with the rare occasion of them using a numel or carvana?

That's one thing I really dislike about the game progression (from Gen I to current gen) - trainers have become so much weaker. I mean, Gym Leaders with only 3 Pokemon tops? Elite Four with only 4 Pokemon? What the hell happened, guys!?
And rivals, also only 3 - occasional 4? Wow. I remember Wally having a full team, and Gary, and, and… you know what I mean.

it totally has the vibe of a final battle in an Anime. Like the evil demon king has the power of the sun in its hands and Wally is the last hero standing with his legs broken and only supporting himself with his sword while unleashing his final transformation.
It's so good i'm tempted to say Hoenn doesn't suck.
Also, i'm pretty sure it goes with everything like the Guile Theme.

I haven't gotten to Wally yet, but Winona had 4 Pokemon so I'm expecting Wally to have the same amount of Pokemon when I get to him as the originals. Same with the E4.

Yeah. That's terrible. I have to impose a lot of rules to myself in order to make the games not that easy (like not using recovery items mid fights, ExpShare or only using one 'mon against each Gym leader/Elite 4. In X2 I had a team of 3 mon, one not even fully evolved, and you still couldn't call it hard).
One thing that annoys the hell out of me is how weak legendaries are. They are supposed to be the epic big boss fight, but it turns out to be just a pokémon like the 6 you have with you. I seriously think legendaries should be WAY stronger in the wild (they could say they get weaker once they are captured so they could keep their regular BST after that). After a whole game hyping a legend, it's really underwhelming when you have to try the hardest you can to not kill it with just one member of your team.

I think he was talking about X/Y and some other newer games that weren't remakes. And hey, spoilers (although that one is kind of obvious) - no one in Europe has the game yet :( (including me…)

I'm going to try to replicate the feat I pulled in my very first run-through of Ruby back in the day and capture Primal Groudon in a Poke Ball.
Finally got a Magnemite via Sweet Scent-induced horde battles on Route 110. Team's slowly coming together now, since if I recall right Baltoy should be in the desert north of Mauville.

I've often wondered about that myself; seems like being supported by people who only want you there so the world can end in fire (with you going to Hell in the process) would be somewhat off-putting

Brawly was easier than Roxanne, holy cow.
Ralts soloed both pokemon with confusion. I didn't even need Tallow.

Finally caved and bought Omega Ruby today. Haven't even gotten to Roxane yet but I'm already having fun with the Pokemon scanner thing. It's a neat feature. ^^
Can't wait to get my trusty team back from Pokemon Y, though. If anyone here would be interested in a battle, I use a rain team: Politoed, Tentacruel, Rotom-W, Ferrothorn, Scizor (M) and Meloetta.~

Just beat Dad for badge number 5. I'm glad he at least put up a fight, the rest of the gym was content to play around with their items while my Gallade bopped their pokemon on the head with Rock Smash all day long.
Also, the animation for a Steelix using Gyro Ball looks hilariously silly.

Seriously, what are the catch rates for Kyogre/Groudon, Rayquaza and Deoxys.
I hit Kyogre with 2 Thunder and Para'd it and caught it in 1 Ultra.
Took 3 Ultra Balls to catch Rayquaza.
I hit Deoxys with 2 Extreme Speeds and threw one Ultra Ball at it and got it on first try while it was in yellow.
I really need to know if they inflated the hell out of catch rates,
